* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: The show increasingly portrays Ushari as enjoying the chaos and anarchy his ressurection of Scar brings out, and his original reason for betraying the Pride Lands, merely so he gets some respect falls completly out the window when he decides to gleefully take part in schemes that would kill entire herds in the Pridelands.

* TookALevelInJerkass: After getting poisoned by Ushari, Kion begins to show hostility towards members of the Guard and towards the animals they encounter, he shows arrogance in that he believes all of his decisions are correct, and he is very willing to dismiss issues of failure if a member of the Guard fails to carry out their instructions. He also shows a willingness to dismiss planning things out, and really doesn't think about the consequences of his actions. When he snaps out of the fit, he is pretty horrified at this side of him.

He later gets brutally scarred, is forced to leave his family, and is forced to witness his darker aspects come out in full force. Suffice it to say, the nice childhood boy only returns near the end of the season.

* BeserkButton: Don't even think about harming his friends and family.

* BreakTheCutie: Season 2 and 3 inflicts a big one on him. * LovableCoward: In a case of RealityEnsues, the cowardly streak Janja had as a villain still remains after his HeelFaceTurn, as an integral part of his character. But since he's become a more selfless and humble hyena, who will push through his fears regardless to help the others, it's meant to be seen as endearing now.

* RealityEnsues: Age has caught up to him, and he loses his fight with the younger Makuu.

* DiurnalNocturnalAnimal: Deconstructed. She has to work day times with the Night Pride thanks to Makucha and his posse showing up, but this ends up [[RealityEnsues making her feel tired]].

* EasilyForgiven: Averted. When the idea of Makuu changing his ways is first brought up in "The Savannah Summit", everyone present is extremely resistant to it, because of the full extent of his past treachery, and the only one who will even entertain it for most of that episode is Simba. In "Let Sleeping Crocs Lie", at the first sign of the crocs causing trouble and returning to their old tricks, Simba immediately grows cold and accuses Makuu of betraying him, making it clear that he is no fool and that he too still has his reservations about the animal's trustworthiness. Makuu and the Lion Guard team up several times in Season 2 and gradually seem to warm up to each other, while the crocodile's relationship with the other Pridelander leaders doesn't really start to improve until the end of "Pridelanders Unite".
