* KickTheSonOfABitch: When he gets physical towards Leif for slapping Nena and in his final confrontation towards him when Leif just stands there and takes it.

* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler: Highlighted at his funeral which is along with Ove. Ove's coffin has many roses laid on it while Leif only gets a single one... from his own brother]].

* EvenEvilHasStandards: He seems tp show regret after they [[spoiler: gang-raped Nena.]]

* AdultFear: In the sequel, Erik learns that Torsten is abusing Leif's previously unknown son Peter, which makes Erik worried that Peter might go the same path as Leif.

* ForTheEvulz: Their actions are pretty much all for fun.

* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: After sadistically murdering [[spoiler: Ove]], they go from merely disliked to outright pariahs in the local community.

* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler: Highlighted at his funeral which is along with Ove. Ove's coffin has many roses laid on it while Leif only gets one from his own brother]].

* EvilIsPetty: Oh boy. He has several KickTheDog moments that also fall under this (see below), some include:

* TheLeader: Not officially, but he is practically the leader of the hunters gang, as he is the most persuasive one and also the most ruthless one which even frightens the rest of the gang at first, but he quickly convinces them that whatever he does is in their interests as well.

* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: When Erik tells Leif that he has evidence suggesting that he is involved in the murdering of the berry pickers, Leif goes to Bengtsson, a DirtyCop and the hunters free pass, to give him a sob-story and convince him that they are not involved in the murders at all. Bengtsson reveals to Leif that it was [[spoiler:Ove]] who told Erik that he saw Leif killing the woman, [[spoiler: and you can guess what happens next]].

* TheSociopath: He's an unrepentant murderer and rapist to boot. Notice how he reacts after killing [[spoiler: Ove.]] He's totally emotionless.

* VillainHasAPoint: Even though his claim that [[spoiler:Ove’s murder]] was an accident is obvious bullshit, he manages to find a [[LoopholeAbuse legal loophole]], that is that the police can’t sue them all because they first need to find out whose [[spoiler:bullet it was that first penetrated Ove]], which is near-impossible. But hey, that’s the law! Even Anna admits that he is right.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. He is the brother of Erik, but Erik’s long absence from their hometown after “leaving” Leif alone with their abusive father had Leif developed hate for Erik. Once Erik investigates their poaching business, Leif only sees him as yet another enemy and has no qualms with beating him unconscious and [[spoiler: raping his love interest]].

* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler: Despite his tragic backround, his fate is ultimately not tragic after everything he has done, and it's a satisfying and ultimate ending. Best seen in his and Ove’s funeral where only Ove’s coffin has many roses on it, but Leif’s doesn’t have a single one (then Erik gives it one)]].

* {{Adorkable}}: He behaves quite childishly, but is probably the nicest person in the entire film. He loves animals, never does anything remotely selfish, and is always kind.

* ManipulativeBastard: [[spoiler: After the incident with the berry picker, he convinces his gang into not talking to the police and that whatever he did to the bystander who witnessed the murder, was for the good of the gang. Afterwards, the gang has become just as monstrous as Leif and happily follows whatever he tells them to. He appears polite towards Ove only to lure him into the woods to be shot to death. He also manages to avoid arrest for Ove’s murder, by saying it was an accident by making a LoopholeAbuse argument]].

* YourCheatingHeart: [[spoiler:He killed Elin because she was pregnant with his child after an affair between the two. She apparently chose to keep it. So to not ruin his marriage, Torsten killed her]].

* FreudianExcuse: [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]]. His actions are without a doubt taken from that of his father's, and it is fully possible that him shooting his own dog for not obeying is taken from his dad abusing him for the same reason. It does give an interesting look at his character, [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse but]] it becomes more and more questionable after each of his Moral Event Horizons just how much of an ”excuse” his bad upbringing really is, and how much it justifies his more horrendous actions such as the homicides and rape that he commits without even showing the slightest remorse of.

** [[spoiler: Killing Ove after he witnessed is also poorly thought out. Since Ove has already testified to Erik that he saw Leif killing an innocent woman, killing him for revenge would only draw even more suspicion. He manages to find an argument for why the police cannot arrest him though.]]
