An ancient dragon that has existed for millions of years. Although regarded as a legend of the Abyss Woods, the Mist Dragon is discovered by Shadow Garden as they search for a new base.

to:

An ancient dragon that who has existed lived for millions of years. Once the guardian deity of the ancient city of Alexandria, he made a pact with an ancient Midgar King to protect the inhabitants' decline city with his mist; in exchange the people must one day rise and slay him.

As Alexandria declines due to internal
corruption caused over several generations, along with their inability to meet his DeathSeeker expectation, the Mist Dragon to revoke revoked his protection and destroy destroyed Alexandria in a single night. Although night in disappointment. In the eons since then, he is now regarded as a legend of the Abyss Woods, Woods which covered the paths to reach Alexandria. 2 years after Cid founded Shadow Garden, the Mist Dragon is discovered by Shadow Garden the Seven Shadows as they search for a new base.

* CurbStompBattle: While Shadow Garden puts up a decent fight against it, the Mist Dragon tanks all of their attacks with relative ease. The only one who managed to deal any damage at all was Alpha and even that doesn't faze it. It isn't until Shadow appears that the tides turn in Shadow Garden's favor.
* FairWeatherFriend: In the past, the Mist Dragon's pact with Alexandria's royal family allowed it to prosper. However, as years passed and its rulers grew corrupt, the Mist Dragon revoked its protection and used its mist to kill everyone in the city.
* TheGhost: Outside of ''Master of Garden'', it has yet to make a physical appearance in the novels, manga, and anime.
* LightIsNotGood: A brightly colored dragon who stands in Shadow Garden's way in finding a new base of operations. The only way it will allow them to proceed is of they defeat it and prove they have power and wield it responsibly.
* MightMakesRight: The Mist Dragon believes that those with power are capable of enacting any true, meaningful change in the world. However, it also believes the strongest must have ''standards'' such as honor and dignity. The reason the Mist Dragon laid waste to Alexandria was because its rulers had become corrupt with the same power they once used to bring Alexandria prosperity. After Shadow defeats it in battle and meets the Mist Dragon's standards, it allows him and Shadow Garden to make Alexandria their new base.
* WorthyOpponent: While they fail to defeat it, the Mist Dragon recognizes that the Seven Shadows are easily the strongest mortals it's seen in years and even states ordinary beings would have no chance of defeating it. After fighting Shadow, the Mist Dragon is elated to find someone who meets his standards (possessing power with honor and dignity) and allows Shadow Garden to use Alexandria as their new base of operations.

to:

* CompleteImmortality: Something he and all other dragons share. To the Mist Dragon's own knowledge, even though other dragons had attempted to reverse their condition (such as Malak the Malevolent) and devolved themselves to become more like dinosaurs which they originally evolved from, there has been precisely ''zero'' successful death. The Mist Dragon has apparently given up on finding out a way to kill himself on his own, instead believing in the potential of mortals to figure out the way. Even Cid comments on the mysterious nature of this immortality, stating it is neither undeath, or multiple lives, or a weak point, or that of a "glitchy unbeatable boss", as he admits he cannot kill the dragon as of yet.
* CurbStompBattle: While Shadow Garden puts up a decent fight against it, fight, the Mist Dragon tanks all of their attacks with relative ease. The only one who managed to deal any damage at all was Alpha Alpha, and even that doesn't faze it.him. It isn't until Shadow appears that the tides turn in Shadow Garden's favor.
* DeathSeeker: And a world weary one, at that. The Mist Dragon has long since given up of trying to find a solution to kill himself that he is willing to make pacts with mortals on the chance one will eventually figure out a way to kill him.
* FairWeatherFriend: In the past, the Mist Dragon's pact with Alexandria's royal family allowed it to prosper. However, as years passed and passed, its rulers grew corrupt, corrupt and no effort has been made to try and kill him, the Mist Dragon revoked its his protection and used its his mist to kill everyone in the city.
* TheGhost: Outside of ''Master of Garden'', it he has yet to make a physical appearance in the novels, manga, and anime.
* HumansAreSpecial: Not humans specifically, but the ''mortality'' of humans, elves and therianthropes. The Mist Dragon believes they are beings of potential, such that they would one day figure out the secrets to the immortality of dragons, and slay him.
* LightIsNotGood: A brightly colored dragon who stands in Shadow Garden's way in finding a new base of operations. The only way it he will allow them to proceed is of they defeat it and prove him, proving they have power and wield it responsibly.
the potential to eventually take his life.
* MightMakesRight: The Mist Dragon believes that only those with power strength are capable of enacting any true, meaningful change in the world. However, it also believes This stems from a long distant past; when ancient dragons (analogous to real life dinosaurs) declined due to the strongest must have ''standards'' introduction of magic into the ecosystem by phenomenons such as honor Black Rose (clashes between universes causing magic to leak into a previously magic-less world), went extinct and dignity. The reason any survivor of that species mutated to become dragons as they are known now, creatures incapable of death.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Notably,
the Mist Dragon laid waste can compress and control his mana to Alexandria was because its rulers had become corrupt such a degree they start shining with blue and purple shades, very similar to ''Shadow himself'', to signify he is on a completely different level than most beings in the same power they once used to bring Alexandria prosperity. After Shadow defeats it in battle and meets the Mist Dragon's standards, it allows him and Shadow Garden to make Alexandria their new base.
