* ThievingPet: She's introduced trying to nab Callum's runecube, and is later shown swiping a cave crystal, storing it away in one of her portals. In season 5, she nicks the key to the High Mage's office from Callum's pocket.

* SatanicArchetype: A being formerly residing in the stars above, is imprisoned in a place without exit which he still has some dominion over, is remarkably powerful and cunning, has whispered in the ears of others to drive them to dark deeds and had a deal with Viren to further both their goals. It's clear to see Aavaros is an elvish version of Lucifer. Heck, he's a '''Star'''touch Elf, and Lucifer is known as the Morning '''Star'''.

* PurpleIsPowerful: Has purple eyes, purple markings on her face and begins wearing black and purple clothing from Book 4 onwards. She's also a ''[[ActoinGirl very]]'' [[ActionGirl skilled fighter]].

* ChromaticArrangement: Ezran is red, Callum is blue, Rayla is green. Fittingly Ezran is an AllLovingHero, Callum is TheSmartGuy, and Rayla is the only one with combat training. Subverted later on, as Callum's primary color becomes red as of the Season 3 finale.

* CosmicMotifs: Stars, befitting a Startouch Elf. Like them he is incredibly ancient and mysterious, on top of being incredibly powerful.

* BraveScot: Some Moonshadow Elves like Rayla have the Xadian equivalent of a Scottish accent, and she consistently braves tremendous odds in spite of her fears and even at the expense of her wants, like defying her mentor to ensure that the Dragon Prince is returned hope by human hands. This receives some deconstruction in the second arc of the show, as this same sense of selflessness compells Rayla to leave to hunt down Viren and Claudia and face danger alone, hurting the romantic bond she developed with Callum, and isolating herself from her friends for two years.

!Main Characters

* Similar to other characters, Claudia is slightly younger in the novelizations, as it's said that Claudia is less than a year older than Callum, who is 14, when in the show she is 13 months older than him and is confirmed to have had her 16th brithday between the first three seasons while Callum's 15th it only happened in the "Dear Callum" short story weeks after season 3.

* AgeLift: Like Ezran, the novelizations make him younger, being seventeen when the story starts, in contrast to the show version where he's nineteen.

* DramaticSpineInjury: Soren suffers a terrible spinal injury in Season 2 when he's smacked against a rock by the tailwhip of a very angry dragon he shot down. While his resulting paralysis begins his road to redemption, his sister's effort to cure him begin her road to damnation.

When Ibis tries to get him to eat his vegetables, Zim growls, gags, and rolls his eyes; and when Ibis tries to play a game to get him to eat a zucchini, Zym instead fries it with a lightning bolt.

* TookALevelInJerkass: As the series goes on, Claudia's desire to keep her ramaining family together slowly corrupts her to the point she becomes cold, arrogant, and xenophobic. She goes as far as to take joy in cruel acts and needlessly taunt her enemies about her being superior to them, with all signs pointing to it being the result of her delving deeper into [[DrunkOnTheDarkSide Dark Magic.]]
