* GoodColorsEvilColors: A very subtle one occurs in Season 4. Normally she wears pink lipstick, but for "Prodigal Son" she wears red lipstick, symbolizing her crossover into evil when she believed she's killed the Turtles. After Leo defeats her, the next time we see her, she's gone back to the pink lipstick, showing she's not so evil and such a threat anymore, although she still holds a grudge against the Turtles and has a surveillance van parked outside her home in order to attack the Turtles if they try to contact her.

* AmbiguouslyHuman: In "The Way of Invinsibility", Stockman talks about creating them but he ''could'' just be talking about their suits. Also, some are seen with bandages or appear to show human emotions across the same episode and others.

* HookedUpAfterwards: Karai and Chaplin, after the Season 5 finale hand-holding.

* TheNotLoveInterest: She shares a lot of screen time with Leonardo. They fight. They talk things out. Karai helps Leonardo and the Turtles out on several occasions and is reluctant to kill him when she has the chance. Leo gushes over how Karai is such a noble and honorable person. They go back-and-forth, with Leo trying to convince her to stop following the Shredder. Everything about their relationship plays out almost exactly like a DatingCatwoman romance story, except it doesn't get romantic and Karai eventually becomes an OfficialCouple with Dr. Chaplin.

* AmbiguouslyEvil: Since they're part of the Foot Clan, they are enemies and their skills make them quite dangerous, but never antagonize the turtles after the City At War arc, not even when Karai take control of Shredder's legacy.

** Played straight in Season 4, where Karai becomes the new Shredder and reorganizes the entire Foot Clan. They become a much bigger threat than they were before and give the Turtles a run for their money.

* EvilCounterpart: To Leonardo. Both have strong senses of honor and are their master's most loyal and skilled disciple.

* TheWorfEffect: They're out of the turtles and Casey's league when they first appear, though not necessarily a curb stomp, but are easily dealt with by the American Foot Ninja, that the turtles are able to take down.

* ArchEnemy: Becomes a secondary one to Casey. Though Hun is always the more prominent example, Casey has a lasting grudge towards Khan over being an EvilMentor, which makes their encounters more personal than they would've been otherwise.
* ConvenientReplacementCharacter: Essentially only introduced in ''Back to the Sewers'' to replace Karai as the acting leader of the Foot, since it's heavily implied that she left with Chaplin after the Season 5 finale
* DiminishingVillainThreat: In his introduction, he's a seemingly supernaturally strong and fast foe who's too much for the Turtles and took credit in the BadFuture for killing them. As the season went on, however, he became steadily less threatening, with Michelangelo and Donatello being able to fight him off in "Identity Crisis" and Raphael defeating him in one blow during "City Under Siege".

* TookALevelInBadass: Throughout most of the series, they are largely useless in combat and are protected by the Foot Ninjas. When Karai reorganizes the entire Foot Clan in Season 4, various Foot Technicians are seen piloting [[MiniMecha mini mechs]].
* UncertainDoom: The two Foot Technicians from "Darkness on the Edge of Town" are taken by Hun at the end of the episode. It's unknown if they were killed, simply detained or mutilated like Stockman.

* AvengingTheVillain: After the Shredder's apparent death at the hands of the Turtles, the remaining Elites swear a vendetta against both them, the factions of the Foot and other gangs now fighting for control over New York.
* ADayInTheLimelight: They got a little more focus in the "City at War" arc as they try to regain control of the city for themselves.
* AllAsiansWearConicalStrawHats: They all wear conical hats.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: There are only four of them and they are by far the strongest of the Foot Ninjas. In their first appearance, they completely beat up Leo and in a later episode, it took the combined efforts of all of the Turtles in order to take them out.
* DiminishingVillainThreat: In the first season, they're deadly fighters who destroy Leo in a fight and are possibly second only to the Shredder in threat level. From the second season onwards, they're still capable fighters but never inflict another defeat on the Turtles again and sometimes they receive an EliteMook equivalent of TheWorfEffect against people like Bishop or the Tengu Shredder to emphasize how [[SortingAlgorithmOfEvil skilled or dangerous the later enemies are]]. The only notable exception to the Elite getting Worfed by newer villains occurred during the "City At War" three-parter where they beat down Karai's elite soldiers from Japan who were good enough that they were able to defeat the Turtles when they initially appeared.
* TheDreaded: Becomes this to Leonardo after the savage beatdown he receives at their hands. They are not present in the comic book version of the storyline.
* EliteMook: They serve as the absolute best fighters of the Foot, second only to Shredder himself.
* EnemyCivilWar: They strike at all parties involved in the war over the New York underworld, including the Japanese Foot.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: In the very same episode they're introduced, they ''savagely'' beat down Leo to the point he's nearly ''dead''. Also, they later ''completely ransack'' April's antique store. All of this establishes them as formidable foes and TheDreaded to the Turtles, especially to Leo.
* FlatCharacter: None of them really have any character traits beyond their blind loyalty to the Shredder. In the cartoon, each Elite has a unique weapon, but that's about it.
* KnightOfCerebus: Much like the Shredder himself. Whenever they appear, the Turtles treat them as serious opponents who are definitely capable of killing them. Or at least that was the case in Season 1, after which the Turtles became better at fighting them.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: ''Savagely'' beat up Leo, leaving him nearly ''dead''.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: All of them have red eyes.
