* AdaptationNameChange: Anneva's name in the original was "Tamerlisa" it was changed in the reboot to be more similar to Foreva's name to emphasize them being a duo hosting the tournament.

* AllegoricalCharacter: In episode 00 we learn that the Forbidden Power literally IS created from negative human thoughts and urges. Particularly fear, doubt, and anger. And is sealed away by a being representing optimism, that is literally made up of caring thoughts, only for The Forbidden Power to resurface later by exploiting human weaknesses . Very much representing how negative memories linger, and resurface in real life, but can be pacified with positive spins and outlooks on life.

* EvilIsNotAToy: Manipulates Alpha in the first episode into thinking he can use the powers given to him by freeing it as a tool to impress his friends. Needless to say this was a [[BlatantLies blatant lie]] it actually uses ''Alpha'' as a puppet so it can be free to harm peopleGood, charges into the forbidden power it recoils in pain with a purple glow, allowing Webmaster to pacify it so SOFDTI could seal it away.

* HeartBeatSoundtrack: When the the Forbidden Power is "pulsating" it makes a sound similar to a heartbeat.
* IJustWantToBeFree: Claims this to be it's motivation for attaching itself to Alpha's character This appears to be [[BlatantLies a blatant lie]]. It only wanted to use Alpha so it could harm people, although it can't be too happy about how it was sealed away and prevented from doing that either.

* PowersAsPrograms: Literally as it's title implies! It's a literal computer virus and literal power inside the game. :It's able harm people in real life and grant players the power to do the same.

* {{Telepathy}}: Communicates with Alpha mentally for all of the first season. Episode 00 also shows the forbidden power taunting Zetto mentally without possessing him. This means that at least in some circumstances, the Forbidden Power, can talk telepathically with a player without being attached to that player's character.

* ImportantHaircut: Happens when she brings Alpha out of his demon form with a CooldownHug in episode 7. WordOfGod Says its because Raven freak planted her powers in her hair.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Shows unrivaled skill during his first appearance in episode 5 by[[KickTheDog destroying two random players]] and mocking how they weren't strong enough to be worth his time.

** It turns out that when Zetto and Kizuna helped with the development process, [=SOFDTI=]'s inability to process negative human emotions created the Forbidden Power which possessed the Shadow Guard Beast while it was in beta. Due to it's ability to hurt people in real life, when the Shadow Guard Beast severed Zetto's character's arm during the testing process, the player controlling Zetto was in pure agony and was being taunted by the Virus. Despite not having to go through what Alpha went through in regard to DemonicPossesion, knowing everything that happened, and experiencing that brief glimpse of the Forbidden Power's evil capabilities, gave him and Kizuna incentive to set out to try and find a way to erase the Forbidden Power.

* BeastOfBattle: Modelled after a giant cat, and fierce as any beast in battle, taking out even gamecrazed at one point.

* AntiVillain: Subverted. Does seem to genuinely care about Flamegirl, and appeared to turn on D-buggers when they turned out to be hurting people. But it turns out much of his actions were planned to trick the main characters, and he was motivated by spite.

* GrumpyOldMan : Subverted. Although he's visibly uncomfortable whenever somebody brings up the Forbidden Power, he's actually a really nice guy. Then again, he is understandably PISSED when [[BewareTheNiceOnes Rubirules turns his back on the other Netkings for fame, power, and profit.]]

* HurricaneOfPuns[=/=]{{Shout Out}}s: They make a great many shout outs to videogame culture and puns to go along with them. One shout in particular is a botched line where Foreva says "Hell or Heaven lets rock!" (the original line is "heaven or hell") In reference to ''VideoGame/GuiltyGear''.

* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: We're made to beleive Alpha is completely invulnerable when under the effects of the virus, and yet Zetto floors him like he's nothing

* {{Leitmotif}}: Zetto's is "[[http://tomeseries.bandcamp.com/track/survive-the-drama Survive the Drama]]" and there's also a DarkReprise titled "[[http://tomeseries.bandcamp.com/track/survive-the-virus-by-thelivingtombstone Survive tHE VIRUS]]" used when Zetto is possessed by The Forbidden Power.

* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Not only did she and Zetto fully trust [[GreaterScopeVillain Rubirules]] when he proposed his plan to "destroy" the virus, they also trusted [[ManipulativeBastard Neomutant]] and [[{{Jerkass}} Odboll]] with their plan to make it work, which nearly led to Flamegirl's death.

* AdaptationalNationality: The original Nylocke was a teenager from America (though a huge Fanboy of Japanese culture). Here, Nylocke is a full-grown adult from Knutsford, England; who's Fanboy Japanese has been swapped out for YeOldeButcheredEnglishe.

* AgeLift: From a 15-year-old kid to [[spoiler: an adult working for Netking Software. It should be noted, however, that Rubirules still considers him to be a "kid", so he can't be much older than twenty-something]].

* VocalEvolution: Gamecrazed;s voice gradually increases in pitch as Gamecrazed gets a better understanding of emotions through interacting with the others.

* BerserkButton: Has a few of them, but Role Players (or possibly fake people) seems to be the one played seriously. This caused some friction with Nylocke, but he seems past it now. Of course, the Forbidden Power hurting people is a pretty big bezerk button as well.
** Alpha involving himself in drama with the Hackers has become one for him, in Episode 13 he ends up yelling at Alpha and pretty much threatens that their friendship will be permanently altered by Alpha going to the Hacker stronghold.
** It's pronounced 'kerb-oh-fur', bleep you. NOT 'Curboffer'.

* DoubleAgent: It's revealed Kirbopher is an alternate character of Zetto's and that his player is using it to give the hacker organization updates on Alpha's status while his character is possessed by the Forbidden Power. This also explains a lot of his [[GrumpyBear bitterness]] about the FiveManBand's decision to [[SourSupporter fight the hackers]]. He doesn't want to get in the way of the hackers and/or reveal his other identity to his friends. Although Zetto/Kirb seems genuinely more concerned about the virus harming someone than abusing it.

* CrushKillDestroy / KillAllHumans: All it wants to do is kill and harm people. Alpha says in the show that it exists to harm people. it is eventually revealed to be a virus that is literally an amalgamation of the Netkings' [[MadeOfEvilown worst emotions]], meaning that it doesn't just want to spread pain and destruction - it IS pain and destruction.

* EldritchAbomination: To TOME's virtual world. It has a complete disregard for rules in the game, showing an ability to break them and [[RealityWarper manipulate virtuality reality]], and harm players in real life. Has a complete LackOfEmpathy towards players of the game. It has an unsettling, and bizarre form resembling television static with yellow sparks, and it's rationale for doing the things it does is stated to be beyond what anyone can understand.

* BadAss: He and Hyprelynx teamed to help Nylocke and Gamecrazed and were really effective.

By ''chucking the thing all the way into the sanctuary region!'' Hilariously the top comment for the episode is even someone posting the page quote for this trope. And [[HilariousInHindsight more ironically]] [[LittleKuriboh Nylocke's voice actor]] is the source of the quote itself. Real!Kirbopher has said in the episode 10 commentary that the reference was intentional.
