* LeaderWannabe: Leaves the pack with a few others to start his own, with him as leader. After the others leave him, he returns to the pack he abandoned, thinking they'll be desperate enough to accept him as leader, but they don't. In the latter case, he claims the previous alpha chose him to be the next one.

* SeriesContinuityError: He's called "Nose" in ''Dead of Night''.

* PragmaticVillainy: Tells Lucky, when blackmailing him, that he's not asking him to do something that would make himself Omega, as in his opinion, that's worse than whatever Alpha would do to him for spying.

* ManipulativeBastard: He tricks Lucky into helping him get out of the Omega position by blaming another dog named Mulch for a crime he didn't commit.

* WouldHurtAChild: Kidnaps one of Lucky and Sweet's pups, and presumably killed a fox cub.

* TheDitz: Whine calls them and their owners "soft as mud and about as clever". They easily fall for his manipulations.
* ManChild: They are not very mature, though they are quite young, compared to Whine, similar to how the former Leashed Dogs were right after the Big Growl.

* ShoutOut: His name is possibly a reference to Wile E. Coyote, a character in LooneyTunes.

* SpiritAdvisor: [[spoiler:After his death, he often appears in Storm's dreams just as something bad is about to happen.]]

* KickTheDog: Believing that Fang was one of the prophesied pups born after the Big Growl that would destroy them, [[spoiler:Blade slaughters him in front of everyone]].
* LargeAndInCharge: She is described as the biggest dog in her pack.
* TheLeader: She is the alpha of the pack.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Her name is "Blade", after the weapon.

* UncertainDoom: One of the female Fierce Dogs is killed in the battle in "''Storm of Dogs''" before Blade's death. Since Ripper and Pistol both appear in "''The Gathering Darkness''", it's unclear if the dead female was Scythe or Cannon.

Similar to dogs, and can breed with them, but dislike them and are territorial.

* FantasticRacism: Look down on dogs, most of the time.
* HalfBreedDiscrimination: In addition to disapprovng of dogs, they dislike any pups who are half-dog. [[spoiler:This includes the half-wolf former alpha of the Wild Pack.]]
* MeaningfulName: As pups, they are all named Pup to show that they are still children. When their back teeth come in, they are named by their pack for the qualities they seemingly possess. [[spoiler:And when dying, they are renamed Fading.]]
* OneSteveLimit: A variation. All pups are named "Pup" until they are given their adult name by their pack. This can result in two or more pack members having the same name at the same time. [[spoiler:In "''The Exile's Journey''", it's revealed that not only are all wolves, when dying of old age, named Fading, but their names are taken back by their pack and can be given again to new pups, which has resulted in many wolves in a bloodline having the same name as their ancestors, one of these being Thoughtful.]]

A wolf in the Still-Water Pack who encounters Storm after she leaves the Wild Pack.

* DeadGuyJunior: He mentions many of his ancestors were also named Thoughtful.

* NiceGuy: Offers to share a catch with Storm, gets his sister to help her when she needs help delivering Bella and Arrow's pups, and doesn't judge her customs, or dogs in general.

* TheResenter: Spent moons complaining about the pain after he broke his tooth.
