* AlternateSelf: [[spoiler:Season 15 shows Sam having a vision of an alternate reality where he embraced the demon blood, resulting in him leading a demon army that causes Benny's death who had been fighting alongside Dean. Strangely it appears that Benny was a human in this reality or found some sort of cure.]]

* BackForTheDead: Subverted: [[spoiler:Benny does return in Season 15, but he's from an AlternateUniverse where Sam embraced the demon blood and now leads a demon army. Benny briefly appears before dying from his wounds.]]

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Much like the pureblood werewolves of the show, the vampires of the show are shown to be a social species. Most of them are part of nest of vampires, who protect and look out for each other and form a deep attachment with their romantic partner and their progenitor. This seems to be a general rule for the species, in contrast to most monsters in the show who only look out for themselves as individuals. Named vampires with this behavior include: Luther, who was afraid that his partner would be targeted by hunters, Dixon who was so distraught at having lost his original family that he sought to create another and when that failed asked to be killed, and finally the Alpha Vampire who was deeply protective of his children and his species as a whole.

* GlowingEyelightsOfUndeath: Vampires' eyes flash with eyeshine when light hits it a certain way in dark environments; at least in their [[Recap/SupernaturalS01E20DeadMansBlood first appearance]]. It hasn't been shown since.

* OurVampiresAreDifferent: As the page quote states, cross and sunlight have no effect on them (the latter's effect on them being compared to a "nasty sunburn"). Their fangs aren't elongated canines but two sets of pointy teeths hidden in their gums that they can extand at will. They are immortal and aren't killed by a stake to the heart but by being decapitated. They turn regular people into vampires by feeding them their blood and have enhanced physical attributes that grow stronger with age including superhuman strength, an enhanced sense of smell and a night vision that lets them see the world as red. In terms of behaviour, they usually live as part of a pack and form a deep bond with their romantic partner.
