* DreamWorld: Chanteuse has the ability to create illusions and dream worlds to lull its prey into a false sense of security. Almaria Duffner used this ability to recreate Gomag city using the memories of all the souls that she had entrapped within her.

* EnthrallingSiren: Chanteuse is basically this, as its uses its song to lure in its prey and devour them into its dream world.

* AcidPool: Materno attacks by melting everything with its blue liquid

* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: [[{{Tearjerker}} Dies near the end of the series saving her friend and the person she loves from the Timere, after coming to terms that the life she once lived was a happy one in spite of her tragic fate.]]]]

* LossOfIdentity: [[spoiler: As a leprechaun, she is fated to eventually lose all remnants of her original identity and will eventually be subsumed by the Visitor Elq Harkstein's personality, replacing her own.]]

** Nygglatho actually had a promising career at the Orlandri Federation, until she got on the bad side of one of its higher-ups. As a result, she was [[ReassignedToAntarctica assigned to the Warehouse]] ever since. [[spoiler:This was actually exploited by the Elpis Federation in order to try to get her on their side, or, failing that, just (attempt to) eliminate her.]]

* ChekhovsGun: Her Carillon Desperatio is a "kinslayer-type" weapon, meaning that it was made specifically to kill off the wielder's same kin. [[spoiler: Willem finding nothing wrong with it despite Nopht using it against Beasts and not emnetwihts as it was supposed to be used against is the final confirmation Willem needed to confirm that the Beasts were indeed the humans.]]

* MyGodYouAreSerious: She intiitally laughs at [[spoiler: Feodor’s]] claim that he only wants to help the Leprechauns by preventing the military from using them as weapons. She stops when she realizes that he’s dead serious.

* MusclesAreMeaningless: During training she easily manhandles soldiers from the 5th Division in spite of her small stature.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: She loves to jump on Willem's back and lock her arms and legs around him. It was commented on by others that her weight alone was painful enough for him. She does the same thing to Feodor Jessman causing him to scream out in pain, until Lakhesh saves him.

* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:Her first act as Fairy Soldier is to kill the man who, even if for a short time, she happily called her father. That she inherited Seniorious means that it is only the first of the tragedies she's going to face in the future.]]

* ChildSoldier: She became a full fairy at soldier at age nine and [[spoiler: was forced into combat on her first day.]]

An ambitious young Imp serving as an 4th Grade Officer in the 5th Division of the Guardian Wings Military.

* RomanticWingman: He is more than happy to encourage Feodor’s romantic endeavors.

* DevotedToYou: [[spoiler: Feodor is forced to use his cursed eyes on her after she mistakes him for an enemy and tries to strangle him. It works a bit too well, because she falls madly in love with him as a result.]]

* DeadAllAlong: [[spoiler: Someone, or something, killed him at some point in the past.]]

* TheManBehindTheMan: Nils speculates that he, rather than Elq, was the one to order humanity’s extermination. This is most likely true, given that Elq was apparently kept in the dark about the actions her guardians took in her name.

!! Foreigner Nils

* LittleBitBeastly: She has cat ears and a tail despite both of her parents being disfeatured.

* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: One of her missions goes south, which leads to [[spoiler: a sample of Croyance being unintentionally released on Island 38.]] [[spoiler: In the confusion Apple is swallowed up by the Beast, causing her to unwittingly self destruct. Feodor and Ryehl are almost killed in the ensuing blast; only being saved by Lakhesh’s extreme venenum overuse. That overuse in turn causes Lakhesh’s personality to fragment, further increasing the toll of the attack.]]

* AlwaysABiggerFish: They are undoubtably the biggest fish in the series. When they first appeared many of the stronger races tried to hold their own against the Beasts. All of them were wiped out in less time than it took for them to exterminate humanity.

** Vincra the 14th Beast would probably rival Shiantor in terms of dread if it wasn’t for the fact that most information about it is highly classified. [[spoiler: It’s ability to corrupt the minds of those it comes into contact with makes it especially dangerous. Even fairies, the Island’s one effective defense against Beasts, can easily be brought under its control. The elaborate “tuning” process all fairies undergo when they come of age is actually just a means of ensuring that they’re incompatible with the sword the Beast is currently sealed in. Otherwise, they risk having a repeat of the infamous Night of Mournen Incident, where the Beast’s malevolent will caused an outbreak of homicidal insanity that led to the destruction of an entire island.]]

** They have a number of similarities with the Shoggoths from H.P. Lovecraft’s “At the Mountains of Madness”. Notably their relation to [[spoiler: the Visitors]] is similar to the one between the Shoggoths and the Elder Things. In both cases [[spoiler: an advanced extraterrestrial civilization used an initially non sentient race to build a new world for them to inhabit. The Shoggoths eventually gained intelligence and revolted against the Elder Ones, much in the same way the Beasts became aware of what the Visitors has done to their world and subsequently went on to destroy anything associated with the extraterrestrials. Shoggoths are also implied to be the origin of all life on earth; similar to how the Beasts were used to create the various races in SukaSuka.]] Given the many references to Lovecraft in Kareno’s books, these similarities might be intentional.

* HostileTerraforming: Once the Beasts enter an area they immediately start killing off all non Beast life and begin transforming the environment into an ashen desert.
* ItCanThink: There are several times in the series where the Beasts show signs intelligence. Most notably they have shown the ability to work together and maybe even strategize. [[spoiler: There are even some Beasts ,like Shiantor and Vincra, that may have even retained some of their former human intelligence.]]

* NotQuiteFlight: Why the Timmere are the only Beasts to watch out for in Règles Aile. They can split off parts of themselves and release them into the air, and those pieces can reach the islands then grow into new Timmere.

!! Ithea Myse Valgulious

* ChildrenAreInnocent: Does not understand the concepts of death, pain, or suffering, and is more inquisitive over Liila's suffering.

* EldritchAbomination: She’s a lot more adorable than most examples. Unfortunately, this doesn’t stop her from inflicting MindRape on ordinary humans though her mere presence. There’s also the fact that she exists in a deathlike slumber beneath a ruined city much like a certain Great Old One. Combined with Chtholly’s MeaningfulName this effectively makes her ''Suka Suka’s'' version of Cthulhu.

* MomentKiller: [[spoiler:Chthollly's ImagineSpot of a married life with Willem was cut off by a vision of Elq rolling on the floor laughing at her, causing Chtholly to snap at Elq subconsciously.]]

* PiecesOfGod: [[spoiler:The leprechauns are all this to her, as following her death, a curse was used with the intent of finely grinding her soul into powder fragments to maintain the curse on humanity. It failed and instead shattered half of her soul into pebble sized pieces, with each piece reincarnating into a leprechaun. The other half remains in Elq's corpse and contains her consciousness.]]

** When she later tells Rhantolk about [[spoiler: about her encroachment]] she also mentions [[spoiler: that she wielded the dug weapon Pacem in her previous life]]. This is a major hint [[spoiler: that she’s actually Nasania Will Pacem]].

* DeadPersonConversation: He has a rather unpleasant conversation with [[spoiler: Willem]] at one point. [[spoiler: Given Willem’s [[OnlyMostlyDead actual state]] it’s more than likely this was just a hallucination on Feodor’s part]].

* ThenLetMeBeEvil: Imps have been demonized for as long as they can remember, first by humans and then by just about every other race. It’s not surprise then that Feodor believes that his entire race is tainted by evil, which is why he is more than willing to carry out evil actions for the greater good.

** A far less humorous example is when [[spoiler: she almost kills Feodor in a fit of rage for “abducting” Lakhesh. In this case she was also mistaken, though she didn’t realize her error till after [[ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend Lakhesh]] showed up and proceeded to beat the shit out of her]].

* BecomingTheMask: [[spoiler: Intitially he only wants to get close to the Leprechauns so that he can manipulate them into aiding his plans. However, he eventually comes to care for them and begins to focus his efforts on saving them.]]

* LightningBruiser: Her first onscreen fight against the Beasts shows her to be a terrifyingly fast fighter on the field, taking out a gigantic Timere in a few mere seconds in a series of fast slashes.

* IAmNotX: Although she still continues to go by [[spoiler: Lakhesh’s]] name she is not the same person. [[spoiler: The “Lakhesh” seen from volume 3 onwards is not “Lakhesh Nyx Seniorious”.]]

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: It's never revealed what happened to him following that battle. [[spoiler: It turns he was killed by the 14th Beast.]]

* CassandraTruth: When a fellow Plantagenista crew member cautioned him about laying his hands on a Dug Weapon, Willem assures him that he knows what he's doing, because he ''is'' an Emnetwiht. The crew member doesn't believe him, and thinks Willem is just being delusional.

* AlwaysABiggerFish: He was the only Guardian to remain undefeated by the Braves. [[spoiler: Which makes it all the more shocking to find out that something did him in. Judging by the curses placed on his body, it was likely a Visitor of unknown origin.]]

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: It's never revealed what happened to him following that battle. [[spoiler: It turns he was killed by something that likely wasn’t of this earth.]]

* TraitorShot: A variant in the anime, as while Suowong was telling Willem about his theories on the Beasts' origins, the scene focuses on Ebo a couple of times giving Suowong a dubious look while keeping silent the whole time. [[spoiler:This may be due to the possibility that, as a servant to the Visitors, Ebo knows the truth about the Beasts, and also that Suoqong seems to be withholding such information from Willem on purpose, something that Ebo calls him out on after Willem leaves.]]

* ChildrenRaiseYou: He spent his time after being resurrected having SurvivorsGuilt with nary a care what he wants to do with the rest of his life. It was upon meeting the Fairies and becoming their "father" that Willem finds a new purpose in his life.

* FaceMonsterTurn: [[spoiler: After he awakens his Beast side he’s overcome with an intense desire to “cleanse” the planet of all non Beast life and restore the “beautiful ashen plains” of the primordial world.]]

* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: She loves to jump on Willem and lock her arms and legs around him. It was commented on by others that her weight alone was painful enough for him. She does the same thing to Feodor Jessman causing him to scream out in pain, until Lakhesh saves him.

* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: He tends to embrace Chtholly tightly whenever he breaks down. While Chtholly was usually flustered by these gestures (especially when one of those instances occurred in the middle of Guardian Wings Military's HQ with a sizable audience), the last time it happened she decided to wing it and hug him back.

* TwoBeingsOneBody: After her and Willem's encounter with the beast La Chanteuse.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: She’s one of the sweetest girls you’ll ever meet. But DO NOT get on her bad side. [[spoiler: Collon]] found this out the hard way.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Tiat is a bit of a {{Tsundere}}, which makes it odd that she [[spoiler: didn’t slap Feodor after he kisses her in the middle of a public plaza.]]

* DevotedToYou: [[spoiler: Feodor is forced to use his eyes on her after she mistakes him for an enemy and tries to strangle him. It works a bit too well, because she falls madly in love with him as a result.]]

* EveryoneHasStandards: Like almost everyone else in the Warehouse, she is a Willem/Chtholly ShipperOnDeck. However, Nygglatho puts her foot down and kicks Willem out of the infirmary when he stated that he plans to stay by Chtholly's side [[spoiler:after she wakes up from her first Encroachment-induced coma]], knowing that Chtholly needs to rest.

* EveryoneHasStandards: Like almost everyone else in the Warehouse, she is a Willem/Chtholly ShipperOnDeck. However, when Willem said that he'll stay by Chtholly's side when she falls asleep again [[spoiler:after waking up from her first coma]], Nygglatho puts her foot down and kicks Willem out of the infirmary, knowing that Chtholly needs to rest.

* SpannerInTheWorks: A lighter, almost-comical example than most, but [[spoiler:Tiat's excitement at seeing Chtholly awake again (after thinking that the latter completely succumbed to Encroachment) ruins Chtholly's attempt to eavesdrop on Willem.]]

* OhCrap: This is Nils' reaction when Lillia [[spoiler:confronted him with his true allegiance as the leader of True World.]] In fact, his very expression was what convinced Lillia in the first place.

* HopelessSuitor: Is infatuated with Almaria. Unfortunately her "father" is not so fond of him.

* TheDreaded: Shiantor the Lamenting First Beast is this as it is the most powerful Beast known to be recorded. In fact, not one person has survived a single encounter with this particular Beast and whenever its presence is somewhere in the area, the army is advised to ''avoid'' it.
