* TheJuggernaut: Battles with him tend to consist of his opponents retreating almost constantly. He has been driven off a few times, but usually only when he's outnumbered. Obi-Wan chopping off his arm marks the first time that anyone has actually stopped him, and even then, it only forced Savage to abandon the fight. Only Darth Sidious was able to be his better for an entire duel and take him down.

* ScarsAreForever: One of his horns is cut off in "Witches of the Mist", and remains broken for the remainder of the series.

Darth Sidious' first Sith apprentice, a Dathomirian Zabrak warrior who is skilled with a double-bladed lightsaber. Although seemingly killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi during the Battle of Naboo, his hatred for the young Jedi proves strong enough for him to survive his injuries and seek vengeance against Kenobi throughout the Clone Wars.

Hondo Ohnaka, who Maul temporarily bought some of his men's loyalty from, knew from the get-go that working with him was an ultimately unprofitable venture because not only is Maul clearly insane, he's really only interested in revenge on Obi-Wan Kenobi, and buys his own men back from Maul by telling them that. In ''Son of Dathomir'', the Hutt Clans immediately desert from the Shadow Collective after Maul gets captured by Darth Sidious. When Maul gets into a revenge game with Sidious, he ends up going to war with the Separatist Alliance. [[spoiler: The Black Sun and Pyke leaders, who are really just mercenaries as opposed to the [[ProudWarriorRace Mandalorians and Nightbrothers]], become wary of Maul's grudge after they almost face death at the hands of a droid firing squad during the Battle of Ord Mantell. After Maul captures Dooku, the Separatists attack the Shadow Collective on three different fronts, and [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere Black Sun and the Pykes]] decide to bail out after getting no help from Maul. After that and the death of Mother Talzin, Maul has very few allies left.]]

** In "Bounty" she comes to sympathize with Pluma Sordie, when she realizes how similar their cirqumstances are, and decides to fool her contractor and let's the girl and her brother go -for some extra money of course.

* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Though she starts off seeming like your typical villainess, it's revealed that she was this all along. She especially becomes sympathetic after Count Dooku, the man who trained her, betrayed her.

* DarthVaderClone: The first of the prequel trilogy's three "proto-Vaders", an utterly remorseless [[TheHeavy Heavy]] who kills the film's mentor figure and enforces Darth Sidious' will.

Now, does that description fit Darth Maul or [[ArchEnemy Obi-Wan]]?

** Despite his previous treatment of Savage as a student, and a minion Maul is devastated and enraged over his brother's death in "The Lawless".

** Taken even further in ''The Clone Wars''. His psychotic breakdown when he's discovered on Lotho Minor is utterly terrifying to watch. And once he's sane again, the things he does are even more horrific.

* OffWithHisHead: Does this to several people at once in one swing in "Revenge".

* RedemptionRejection: Obi-Wan tried to appeal to his inner good, claiming to understand that he didn't choose the Dark Side out of his own will. He gleefully refused the offered chance, by murdering Satine.

* EvilSoundsDeep: His voice gets deeper following his transformation. It helps that he's voiced by Creator/ClancyBrown.

* [[LastOfHisKind Last Of Her Kind]]: Of the Nightsisters. Granted, Mother Talzin is still alive, but it's not clear if Ventress is aware of this.

** In ''Son of Dathomir'', he seems to have formed another one with [[spoiler:Count Dooku]].

* TheChessmaster: She effortlessly sets various individuals and groups against each other throughout the Nightsisters trilogy. In ''Son of Dathomir'', she's practically competing with fellow chessmaster Darth Sidious to see who can OutGambit the other.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Inflicted on Count Dooku through the use of a VoodooDoll.

* HiddenAgendaVillain: She seems to have ''some'' kind of agenda, but exactly what it might be remains unknown.

* LadyOfBlackMagic: She wears a rather elaborate dress, her motivations and goals remained a secret, and while she's also [[ShockAndAwe able conjure green force lightning]], or use magical {{Deflector Shield}}s, she mainly uses more "subtle" techniques, such as transforming Savage Opress into a hulking, nigh-unstoppable avatar of primal anger, and torturing Count Dooku from millions of lightyears away with a VoodooDoll. She also posesses VoiceOfTheLegion.

* {{Magitek}}: She used her magics to create Maul's cybernetic legs.

* SquishyWizard: As mentioned above, she is really powerful, but prefers to focus on supporting her sisters through her magic. Most notably, she tortures Dooku with a voodoo doll, threatening to destroy him if he does not withdraw his forces. But when Grievous interrupts, she turns intangible and escapes.

* MamaBear: In addition to being very protective of her clan, the third issue of ''Son of Dathomir'' reveals that she is not very happy with Darth Sidious for [[spoiler:taking away her son, Darth Maul, and then leaving him to die]].

Once he regains his sanity and discovers that Darth Sidious replaced him with Dooku and never bothered to see if he was alive, he quickly loses any loyalty he once had to him.
