Tracing this even further back reveals that the Time Eater in and of itself was a ResidualEvilEntity: The carrion of Mephiles the Dark's time-bending powers after the timeline of VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006 was erased by Sonic and Elise.]]

While Sonic is typically compassionate towards any machine that displays clear sentience (such as Metal Sonic, when he's in a situation to show any compassion without getting himself killed), Tails has a much colder view by comparison. When he reprogrammed Gemerl to be good in VideoGame/SonicAdvance3, you could argue he was still struck by the [[ExcessiveMourning intense grief]] of losing [[VideoGame/SonicBattle Emerl]], but it still ultimately robbed Gemerl (a fully sentient being by that point) of making the active choice to follow his own path away from Eggman. Thankfully the second time around with the Weather Hacker wasn't nearly as [[FridgeHorror messed up in retrospect]], as it was originally a benign A.I that was corrupted by excess power - Tails just helped to remove those corruptions and let it start again, even throwing in a voice synthesizer for good measure so it could speak up for itself. It is also worth noting that despite his incredible genius... Tails is only 8, so that mixed with his very methodical and scientific way of thinking could be a factor in his general disregard for robot rights, and ideally his relationship with the Weather Hacker would be an avenue of CharacterDevelopment.
* GadgeteerGenius: When he isn't fighting by Sonic's side, Tails is most known for his incredible intellect and mechanical engineering skills. He's worked on planes, spaceships, naval vessels, weapons of all kinds and can apparently [[VideoGame/SonicLostWorld reprogram a supercomputer using dishwasher detergent and a toothpick]]. Alright kid, [[InsufferableGenius now you're just showing off]].
* {{Sidekick}}: To Sonic, though he is absent for almost the ''entire first saga'' on account of it's story following a select few Sonic characters crossing into a world inspired by Hololive. Once he and his older brother are reunited, Tails does his best to make up for lost time and gets stuck into helping return those who were displaced by Infinite's damage to reality and the ongoing rabbithole phenomena. In ''Unbound'', he acts as the navigator to Team Hero much like his role to Sonic in VideoGame/SonicRush.

* DarkIsNotEvil: Shadow is often called Sonic's 'dark reflection' despite their physical differences, and though he has a habit of being the most serious person in the room, he always strives towards doing the right thing. Of course, [[{{AntiHero}} that's a subjective thing that doesn't always match what the other heroes think...]]
* HoverSkates: Shadow's Air Shoes, skates that allow him to reach [[SuperSpeed speeds]] rivaling that of Sonic the Hedgehog as well as hover in place mid-air. Though hedgehogs in this universe can be born with a latent 'speed gene' that can be activated through special training, it has been said that Shadow ''requires'' these skates to be able to hold his own against the fastest of the fast in his universe.

Well, the merging process of the two stones didn't much account for any flesh getting caught in the gears. Infinite's body was erased and his mind left to haunt the inner sanctum of the Phantom Ruby, a gem known for causing ''insanity'' in it's users. To make matters worse? When the Phantom Ruby finally gave up and fled to another dimension, pieces of it broke off after all the stress it'd been through during it's use and abuse over [[VideoGame/SonicMania two]] [[VideoGame/SonicForces games]]. Just a fractured mind with no body to call his own, Infinite is at his lowest... And most desperate.

!Saga 2: Between Worlds

Living in relative poverty, Vector dreams of making big bucks if only to make ends meet, and will take just about any job [[OnlyInItForTheMoney if the price is right]]. Well... ''Almost'' any job. Vector might have a chip on his shoulder at times and a short fuse to match, but he knows when it's time to put the profit aside and do the right thing. That said? ''Don't mess with his paycheck''.

Nobody quite knows where Espio came from, but he's got a strong sense of justice, a passion for information-gathering and, oh yeah, [[GratuitousNinja he's a ninja]]. Being the Chaotix Detective Agency's go-to man for stealth and picking up evidence, he's an invaluable member of the team and potentially the reason the trio decided to open a ''detective'' business specifically. He tends to the see the world in black and white when it comes to morality and has zero tolerance for those he deems evil, but at the very least you can count on him never turning his back on you in a time of need.

The third and final member of Team Chaotix is... A little kid? It's not entirely clear where Charmy found his way into this whole detective business, but he's no less an important member of the agency with his unique skillset of flight, high speed and [[GreenThumb minor ability to control flowers]]. Being a 6-year old detective does come with it's expected downsides however, Charmy's easily distractable and hyperactive to the point of often annoying his elder teammates, but they'd never leave him behind in spite of all that. A slightly obscure fact about him is that he actually [[HeroWorshipper idolizes Shadow the Hedgehog]], and wants to be like him someday.

The first man to call himself the rival of Sonic the Hedgehog, since turned into a lifelong friend through butted heads and clashed fists both. Knuckles is the Earth to Sonic's Wind and the two often alternate between being each-other's voice of reason or the one in need of help cooling down, though usually Sonic's sharp wit allows him to get the first licks in at teasing his old buddy. Despite his occasional brash nature, Knuckles is actually very knowledgeable and levelheaded, it's just that his long years of isolation have left him ill-prepared for social interactions (especially the kind where he's being made fun of or manipulated).

* RedOniBlueOni: Ironically enough, when his temper isn't getting the best of him Knuckles is the Blue Oni to Sonic's Red. Living alone for 12 years gave him a quiet outlook and a deep respect for the traditions of his long-gone tribe, one that he will never truly get to be a part of. He's knowledgeable on history, loves to relax and apparently [[VideoGame/SonicShuffle dreams of tranquil beaches]]. When he's riled up though, expect Sonic to be the one nonchalantly chuckling at his antics or berating him for getting tricked for the umpteenth time - flipping the dynamic to the more accurately colour-coded orientation.
* RedIsHeroic: Though he's been in the antagonist's seat a few times thanks to being tricked by Eggman, Knuckles is usually someone you can count on to fight for the side of good.
* SuperStrength: Knuckles is an absolute powerhouse, capable of lifting huge weights and dishing out crushing blows capable of shattering rock and metal both denser and larger than he is.

She's plundered priceless treasures from sacred landmarks only to be taking calls from the President the next day, working with the military to spy on enemy forces using her incredible skills of stealth and subterfuge.

* LovableRogue: Though she's done plenty of work for the government and military, Rouge still has a huge love of gemstones and will go out of her way to snag some if she can at any given time. Her kleptomaniac tendencies are usually met with a mass eye-roll from everyone present and the general attitude that 'yeah, that's Rouge for you'.

The final and most powerful member of the E-100 line of robots created by Dr. Eggman. Omega is an absolute powerhouse apparently capable of [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006 taking down Shadow the Hedgehog]], one of the strongest fighters on his planet, but Eggman didn't appreciate his massive ego and penchant for collateral damage (he believes all other Eggman robots are inferior to him, therefore unnecessary and insulting, therefore they must be destroyed). Enraged by being locked away, Omega turned on the Empire and joined Rouge's Team Dark along with the lady herself and Shadow the Hedgehog to embark on a quest for revenge.

While Sonic is typically compassionate towards any machine that displays clear sentience (such as Metal Sonic, when he's in a situation to show any compassion without getting himself killed), Tails has a much colder view by comparison. When he reprogrammed Gemerl to be good in VideoGame/SonicAdvance3, you could argue he was still struck by the [[ExcessiveMourning intense grief]] of losing [[VideoGame/SonicBattle Emerl]], but it still ultimately robbed Gemerl (a fully sentient being by that point) of making the active choice to follow his own path away from Eggman. Thankfully the second time around with the Weather Hacker wasn't nearly as [[FridgeHorror messed up in retrospect]], as it was originally a benign A.I that was corrupted by excess power - Tails just helped to remove those corruptions and let it start again, even throwing in a voice synthesizer for good measure so it could speak up for itself. It is also worth noting that despite his incredible genius... Tails is only 8, so that mixed with his very methodical and scientific way of thinking could be a factor in his general disregard for robot rights, and ideally his relationship with the Weather Hacker will be an avenue of CharacterDevelopment.

* {{Sidekick}}: To Sonic, though he is absent for almost the ''entire first saga'' on account of it's story following a select few Sonic characters crossing into a world inspired by Hololive.

* SuperStrength: Knuckles is an absolute powerhouse, capable of lifting huge weights and dishing out crushing blows.

The first man to call himself the rival of Sonic the Hedgehog, since turned into a lifelong friend through butted heads and clashed fists both. Knuckles is the Earth to Sonic's Wind and the two often alternate between being eachother's voice of reason or the one in need of help cooling down, though usually Sonic's sharp wit allows him to get the first licks in at teasing his old buddy. Despite his occasional brash nature, Knuckles is actually very knowledgeable and levelheaded, it's just that his long years of isolation have left him ill-prepared for social interactions (especially the kind where he's being made fun of or manipulated).

* DarkIsNotEvil: Shadow is often called Sonic's 'dark reflection' despite their physical differences, and though he has a habit of being the most serious person in the room, he always strives towards doing the right thing. Of course, [[{{Anti-Hero}} that is a subjective thing that doesn't always match what the other heroes think...]]
