Eventually, his entire fighting style starts to revolve around it and his other skills (particularly his situational awareness) begin to atrophy, which becomes a problem when Akatsuki finds a way to prevent him from gathering the necessary nature energy to trigger it (something that they were only able to figure out ''because'' he used it so much).

* MasterOfIllusion: Kurenai tutors him in using genjutsu, which he often combines with his ice techniques to [[ConfusionFu confuse his enemies]].

* TragicDream: Tenten idolized Tsunade and wanted pursue a career as a CombatMedic to be like her. Unfortunately, she proved to have no potential whatsoever when it came to medicine.

* OverprotectiveDad: He forbids an eight year old Naruto and Hinata from being alone together and insists on his wife chaperoning them when the go to get some ramen. This despite him actually ''liking'' Naruto and approving of their friendship.

* MyGreatestFailure: Much to Sasuke's surprise, it isn't [[spoiler:the Uchiha Insurrection]] but the death of his rival Shunichi ([[MurderByInaction who ended up dying because he tried to teach him some humility by refusing to help him fight someone far above his level]]) that he considers to be his worst mistake, because at least in case of the former he did everything he could to prevent it.

* AdaptationalVillainy: Mikoto ends up taking part of the [[spoiler:Uchiha Insurrection]].

* StrongGirlSmartGuy: Downplayed example. Jiraiya's far from a weakling, and Tsunade's far from unintelligent, but Jiraiya is somebody specialized in ninjutsu, seals, spying and intelligence gathering, while Tsunade is better known for her SuperStrength, despite also being a prodigial medic.

* ParentalAbandonment: He's specified to be an orphan whose parents died the night of the Kyubi attack.

* YankTheDogsChain: After winning a ton of money after betting on Naruto, she lost it all after Gaara beat him.

* LoveAtFirstNote: The very first thing that he noticed about Fu was the [[BugBuzz buzzing sound that her wings made]] and he was rendered speechless when he finally sees her ([[TheQuietOne not that you'd be able to tell]]).

* OlderThanTheyLook: Tsunade forces Jiraiya to use her age hiding technique in the epilouge so that her own youthful appearance wouldn't stand out as much.

* ServileSnarker: Unlike in canon, she has no problem giving Tsunade sassy comments to her face, especially when it comes to her gambling vices. It's implied that Naruto's rebellious nature rubbed off on her.

* ElementalPunch: In an effort to mimic her older sister, she develops a fire varient of the Gentle Fist.

* MakingASplash: She metions early on that her elemental affinity is Water Release, though she's never actually had a use for it. [[spoiler:She eventually applies it to her daughter's elemental Gentle Fist technique by the time of the Fourth Ninja War.]]

* OnlyOneName: He is briely disowned from the Uchiha clan due to his refusal to support their planned coup. It ends up being rescinded after Shisui is appointed as the new clan head and he regains his last name.

* OffingTheOffspring: Subverted. He ''thought'' he had sucessfully killed Itachi in their battle, but it quickly turned out to have been a clone. However, those few seconds before he realized the truth were enough to activate his Mangekyo Sharingan.

* {{Hypocrite}}: When Hiruzen calls him out on his actions weakening Konoha rather than strenghening it, he has the gall to call Hiruzen on not killing Orochimaru when he had the chance. Nevermind that he willingly collaborated with Orochimaru, especially to get plenty of BioAugmentation himself.

* FaceYourFears: She ends up facing off against the ninjas who had kidnapped her when they're ressurected by Orochimaru during the Fourth Ninja War. The process proves to be [[InUniverseCatharsis very cathartic for her]].

* BackFromTheDead: Unlike in canon, she's brough back alongside the previous Hokage during Orochimaru's invasion of Konoha.

* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: If canon is taken into account, she's the only member of the Konoha 15 whose parents are entirely unaccounted for.
