* ByronicHero: Not really in Act I, but definitely in Act II. In Act I, Andreas is a RenaissanceMan and BunnyEarsLawyer who has great passion and talent while also suffering from odd and vivid lucid dreams, and feels comfortable discussing theological and philosophical debates with others. However, his decisions when attempting to solve the Baron's murder and the pressure of it left him with bitter feelings about Tassing that he pretty much cuts off all contact with his friends from there. During the TimeSkip he gets married, but he quickly becomes unhappy and often looks for reasons to avoid going home [[spoiler:as a result of his son's death from the plague]], while also losing any passion for his work or anything that once made him happy. When he finally returns to Tassing after seven years, he's grown a BeardOfSorrow to reflect his more bitter and lonely outlook, all the passion he once had for life faded and prone to being more cynical and depressed about his life. He's also more introspective and prone to self-loathing, especially when being reminded of his previous visit to Tassing and Caspar's future career as an artist. [[spoiler:In Act III, Caspar's death and the Abbey being destroyed has left him with even more guilt and self-loathing, reducing him into being a lonely hermit who has become consumed with finding the Thread-Puller and suffers from vivid hallucinations.]]

* VillainousGlutton: A downplayed example. In chapter 2, most of the people in Tassing Andreas can eat with have only simple food to offer, in many cases worse than what they ate in chapter 1 because of the taxes and restrictions from the Abbey. When the Abbot invites Andreas to a meal to try and get him to side with him over the town, the table is set with delicious, rare and sofisticated food more fit for a noble. One of the brothers who works in the kitchen even notes as early as chapter 1 that Gernot was asking for more lavish meals. All this while the abbey is going through hard times financially, the abbot was unwilling to tighten his own belt and instead raised taxes on the town.
