Torbjörn is a Damage character who excels at setting up his turret at key defensive areas, then engaging the frontlines to take down enemies and support his allies. His main weapon is the versatile ''Rivet Gun'', which can either fire rivets as long range projectiles or eject molten slag in a shotgun burst at close enemies. He also has access to his trusty ''Forge Hammer'', which can be swung as a melee weapon in a pinch, but much more importantly is used for his ''Build Turret'' ability. With it, Torbjörn deploys one stationary sentry gun that automatically fires at nearby foes; he can use his ''Forge Hammer'' to repair the turret when it takes damage or upgrade it to a Level 2 turret, with increased health and a second gun for more firepower. Torbjörn's passive, ''Scrap Collector'', generates scrap metal over time, as well as from the corpses of defeated heroes, which he can expend to toss out ''Armor Packs'' that he or his allies can pick up to gain extra armor and reduce incoming damage. His ultimate, ''Molten Core'', overheats Torbjörn's personal forge for a few seconds, granting him a large bonus to his armor, scrap, firing speed and turret building speed. If he has his Level 2 turret active it will also temporarily upgrade to a Level 3 turret, with even more health and an extra rocket launcher for even greater firepower.

* ArmorPiercingAttack: With his [[MagmaMan post-2018 reworked]] ''[[MagmaMan Molten Core]]'', not only does it melt right through enemies standing in the molten slag, [[ExaggeratedTrope it melts even faster if they're wearing armor]].

%%* MeaningfulName: His name is derived from the Old Norse name "Þòrbjörn", which means "thunder bear".

* FragileSpeedster: At 150, she has the fewest hit points of any hero (tied with D.Va when she's on foot, but even she starts out with a mech that has 600), with no armor or shields to supplement her defense (unless she gets some from Torbjörn or Symmetra). Fortunately for her, she has a higher-than-average movement speed, and her abilities are geared toward keeping her mobile and maneuverable and helping her quickly bail out of bad situations. Learning to master her skills and apply them on the fly is crucial to being effective with her, and she's consequently considered to be one of the [[DifficultButAwesome higher skill cap]] characters.

* TimeRewindMechanic: Tracer can rewind time at any point by a fixed amount. Since it is an online multiplayer game, time only flows backwards for herself, effectively placing her where she was a few seconds ago.

* TheParagon: It's mostly limited to in-game character interactions, but Mei says that Tracer inspires her, while Pharah calls her lucky for having been in Overwatch. In turn, Tracer calls Mei the real hero and tells Pharah she may still get a chance.

* DeadpanSnarker: Only she's less funny and more sadistically venomous (no pun intended). Or just smug.

* ActionGirl: She's more of a hit-and-run type, but she still gets into the thick of the fight.

* TheCameo: At the end of ''Recall'': [[spoiler:she’s the first agent to respond to Winston, and she does so ''[[JumpedAtTheCall within a minute]]'']]. She also appeared in some scenes in [[Creator/StevenSpielberg Steven Spielberg's]] [[Film/ReadyPlayerOne2018 Ready Player One]].

* LikeBrotherAndSister: With Winston. It helps that he invented the chronal accelerator to help her with her condition. During the ceremony congratulating Winston on becoming a field agent, she was jumping with joy in the photo.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Several of the moments where Tracer acts in a way that is not cheerful or friendly involve [[ArchEnemy Widowmaker]]. Most notably are the moments after Widowmaker [[spoiler:performed Mondatta's assassination]], which showed Tracer at her most distraught. When she sees a crisis unfolding in London and no one doing anything about it due to red tape in ''Uprising'', she gives Commander Morrison a bit of an earful about how she enlisted to help people, not ignore them when they're in danger, even saying she won't apologize even if she's out of line. She remains respectful through the whole thing, but it's still probably the most forceful we've seen her be with someone who wasn't an enemy.

* UnstuckInTime: Because of a teleportation experiment gone wrong, Tracer lost the ability to maintain physical form and even disappeared for days at a time. No one knew how to help her...until Winston came by and solved her problem.

* WideEyedIdealist: The most prominent example among the cast, which is saying a lot when you consider that includes the likes of [[KnightInShiningArmor Reinhardt]] and [[AllLovingHero Lúcio]]. [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness Almost]] always chipper and upbeat, she seems to be incapable of standing by if someone needs help, has no understanding why someone would willingly commit an evil act, and thinks there's no problem that can't be solved with some good old-fashioned heroism. ''Uprising'' shows that even as Overwatch was beginning its decline and attracting protests, up to the point of being barred from operating in her native UK, she remained a firm, wholehearted believer in its capacity to benefit the world. And despite numerous setbacks, she still has her proactive demeanor.

* {{Fanservice}}: Not as blatantly as the likes of Widowmaker, Symmetra or Witch Mercy, but she has a very athletic figure complimented by some form-hugging leggings, and no opportunity is wasted to draw attention to her long and expertly modeled legs and bum. Her legendary Summer Games skins give us a very nice view of her midriff, and a lot of her body language seems to have been inspired by World War II pinup posters.

* NiceGuy: [[TheGadfly Gadfly tendencies aside]], Tracer is an optimistic, friendly, kind-hearted woman. Still, [[BewareTheNiceOnes best not to get on her bad side]]. It's on its best display in ''Reflections'', in which she repeatedly makes her own night harder to make those of strangers' easier, with no expectation of a reward.

!!!'''Occupation:''' Adventurer

** Even as she carries out her main task, which is to ''eliminate the enemy'', she still retains her cheerful demeanor, and some of her one-liners make her sound downright delighted.

* BreakTheCutie: In ''Alive'', which sees her deteriorate to her most emotionally distressed point seen thus far. Fortunately, being called back into service by Winston seems to have helped her bounce back by the time of the cinematic trailer. Offscreen, she's also had to deal with being nearly wiped from existence following the accident with the Slipstream, witnessed the initial collapse of Overwatch, an organization she clearly loved and admired, and seen much of the good she's fought to bring into world undone by forces beyond her control. For all her cheerful behavior, she's been through a lot, and unfortunately, her defining ability to stay positive would be pointless if she never had reason to use it.
* ButchLesbian: [[DownplayedTrope Heavily downplayed]] (Though her casual fashion fits neatly into the "Soft Butch" aesthetic popular with many lesbians), but her Punk and ''especially'' Lightning skins fit this like a glove. She doesn't have the normal personality associated with the trope, however.

* FragileSpeedster: She has high mobility with her faster-than-average running speed and ''Blink'' ability, allowing her to get around quickly. However, she has the lowest total health of any hero (D.Va outside of her MEKA has the same, but starts with ''600''), so she needs to use her speed to avoid damage.

* HiddenDepths: She has a tendency, especially in-game, to come across like a giggling, showboating goofball, such that it's easy to forget sometimes that she's an accomplished pilot who was initially brought onto Overwatch for her flying skills. The comics show her behavior outside of a fight is noticeably more mature and thoughtful: ''Reflections'' reveals that she's capable of maintaining a healthy, adult relationship with her girlfriend, and her little speech in ''Uprising'' demonstrates that her ideals aren't just playground daydreams, but a deeply held personal commitment that she takes very seriously. Her citations of Mei and the Shambali order as personal inspirations in some of the pre-fight conversations also suggest she places substantial value on the issues of peace, spirituality, social equity and the environment, showing that -- in spite of what [[GenkiGirl her]] [[JumpedAtTheCall mannerisms]] would indicate -- her concept of heroism is more complex and grounded than just grabbing a gun and fighting the bad guys.

* TeleportSpam: Her entire play style is focused on her dashing around and outmaneuvering her target with her time jumping powers. This is best shown in Doomfist's origin trailer where he is unable to hit her for most of the fight.

* EmotionlessGirl: Talon numbed her ability to experience human emotion, and has been described as "feeling little save the [[{{Sadist}} satisfaction of a job well done]]".

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: The few instances she's portrayed as anything but a sadistic, emotionless killer are pretty important. These include her being offended to hear Gérard being insulted, sighing his name, [[DeathSeeker wishing she were dead]], mourning his grave, and a spray showing the two on their wedding. It's believed these are hints that she's starting to feel again, and show us that, through all the brainwashing, she is still human.

* LanternJawOfJustice: His Ironclad skin shows him before he got his beard. Without it, he's got a rather rugged jaw.

* MsFanservice: Widowmaker is clad in a skintight bodysuit that shows off her assets. And her later costumes show even [[BareYourMidriff more]] [[ShesGotLegs skin.]]

* AndIMustScream: Even though her original personality has been suppressed, there are a few signs that she's still in there [[DeathSeeker and somewhat aware of what she's become.]]

* AchillesHeel: Close quarters. At long ranges, she's lethal, and, as demonstrated in ''Alive'', she can control the terrain to her advantage if she's able to stay mobile and out in the open. But get her cornered with no means of escape, and she struggles. Case in point, her response to Winston dropping directly in front of her in the cinematic trailer was to freeze up and fire off a few weak rounds, and when Tracer cut off her escape route, she was able to disarm her and send her running without any trouble.

** She manages to pull of her mission in ''Alive'' despite being by herself against Mondatta's bodyguards and Tracer, who has the ability to teleport and can rewind time to undo her own mistakes, while all Widowmaker has is her gun and a few gadgets. Downplayed, because Tracer was the only tangible opposition she had to directly contend with, and by situating herself at an elevated position in the shadows, she was still operating in her element.
** Likewise, the sniping duel with Ana. Widowmaker at that point was probably relatively new amongst Talon crews, while Ana was one of the veteran Overwatch founders and one of the best markswomen in the world. Widowmaker won that one too by exploiting Ana's hesitation on the realization of her true identity.

* CardCarryingVillain: Despite her heartbreaking backstory, she clearly finds being evil for the sake of it exhilarating.

* EvilAllAlong: From the perspective of Overwatch agents like Ana, the reveal of Widowmaker as Amélie Lacroix has given this impression. Because the [[BrainwashedAndCrazy actual reason]] for how she became Widowmaker isn't known outside of Talon, it gives off the idea that she's a complete [[BitchInSheepsClothing bitch]] who was actually evil the whole time and killed her husband once she revealed her true colors.

* HiddenDepths: She used to be a ballet dancer before Talon transformed her into the cold assassin she is now.

* TragicVillain: While all the villains in the game have tragic backstories, many would agree that her story is the most tragic out of ''any'' of the playable characters, let alone the villains.

* OurDwarvesAreAllTheSame: He's basically your typical fantasy dwarf with a Swedish accent — no matter how much he [[http://bingur.github.io/sounds-of-overwatch/vo/vo_hero/Torbjorn/Torbjorn%20-%20Default/i%20am%20not%20a%20dwarf.mp3 tries to deny it]]. * KickTheDog: Horrible as it was, killing Mondatta was just her assignment. Gloating about it directly to a distraught Tracer’s face, however, was all her.

* KnightOfCerebus: Fitting of the character who is widely agreed to have the darkest and most tragic backstory, she tends to have this effect when she's the focus, more often-than-not. The idealistic and hopeful tone will disappear, replaced by a dark atmosphere with an aura of tragedy. This is evident by her short ''Alive'', where it presents a ToneShift in stark contrast to the other shorts, lacking any sort of the idealism of the others, being a tense, dread-inducing romp with almost no levity, playing out at points almost like a straight horror. "Legacy" also lacks any humor or hope and portrays her in the early days of her career cementing herself as one of the world's most [[TheDreaded widely feared]] and effective assasins. Her SniperDuel with Ana takes a tragic spin when she is [[DramaticUnmask unmasked by Ana's bullet]]; as Ana hesitates to shoot, wondering what has become of Gérard's seemingly innocent wife while unaware of the [[BrainwashedAndCrazy truth]], allowing her enough time to quite brutally [[EyeScream shoot her eye out]] and trigger the beginning of the end for Overwatch.
* LackOfEmpathy: The result of Talon suppressing and reconditioning her personality. As such, she rarely feels emotion except when she's killing people.
** Though she mourns her husband, she also laughed in Tracer's face when the latter was clearly distraught from failing to protect Mondatta, and if she eliminates Pharah in-game, she may quip "Like mother, like daughter." So even while she grieves for the loss of her own loved one, she also finds depriving others of theirs amusing.

* KnightOfCerebus: Fitting of the character who is widely agreed to have the darkest and most tragic backstory, she tends to have this effect when she's the focus, more often-than-not. The idealistic and hopeful tone will disappear, replaced by a dark atmosphere with an aura of tragedy. * PetTheDog: Visiting Gérard's grave, making it clear that she [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes still loves him]] and [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone regrets killing him]].

* SympatheticMurderer: She may be a cruel, cold-hearted assassin who takes in pleasure in the act of killing, but it's almost impossible not to sympathize with her once you learn her backstory.

** A relatively simple assassination mission goes awry with the intervention of Tracer, forcing Widowmaker to fight through several of Tekharthat Mondatta's bodyguards and the former Overwatch agent herself, who has the ability to teleport and can go so far as to undo her mistakes (and all the injuries she sustained during them) by rewinding time for a few seconds while all Widowmaker has is her gun and a few gadgets. [[spoiler:She manages to find a way to win.]]

* WhenSheSmiles:
** Her "I See You..." highlight intro has her give a side smile to the camera. Notably, her eyes make it look genuine instead of the cold smirk she usually has.
** Her wedding spray, which shows her as the normal, pre-brainwashed Amélie on her wedding day, also features a genuine smile that only makes her story more tragic.

* OurDwarvesAreAllTheSame: He's basically your typical fantasy dwarf with a Swedish accent — no matter how much he [[http://bingur.github.io/sounds-of-overwatch/vo/vo_hero/Torbjorn/Torbjorn%20-%20Default/i%20am%20not%20a%20dwarf.mp3 tries to deny it]].
** Blizzard gave a handful of characters skins based on other Blizzard properties. [[Characters/WarcraftTheAllianceIronforge Guess which one Torbjorn got.]]

* ICallItVera: He refers to his turret as "my baby" and is very affectionate towards it while repairing it.

* ArtificialLimbs: His left arm is an enhanced industrial cybernetic prosthetic, replacing the arm he lost during Operation White Dome. It's normally equipped with a set of PowerPincers, similar to the gauntlet he used before losing said arm but as shown in Brigitte's origin trailer, he also has a more domestic model equipped with a regular robotic hand.

** During the ''Alive'' cinematic, she fires a shot at Tracer -- who blinks away to avoid being hit in the heart -- and that same shot hits her target, an Omnic Monk, right in the head. And she pulls this shot while falling.
** Prior to being interrupted by Tracer, she was also about to shoot said monk through a very narrow window while dangling upside-down by her leg. It's eerily reminiscent of a spider when she does it.

* WouldHurtAChild: For someone who gets off on killing, she has ''just enough'' restraint not to attack a child unless provoked. That is, until said child gets in her way, then she has no qualms about turning her rifle towards them. Good thing that Winston intervened before she could do just that.

** With "T.Racer" or "Mach.T", the voice line her team hears upon switching to her is replaced with "Here comes Teee-racer!"

* MesACrowd: In a meta way. While any team can have multiples of each character, if two Tracers are on the same team (which will only happen in "No Limits" mode), they will [[DevelopersForesight actually acknowledge each other]] during the pre-fight banter period, attributing each others’ presence to [[TimeCrash the irregularities of her personal timeline]]. [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight She takes seeing an exact copy of herself in stride rather well,]] [[SeenItAll but then again, her best friend is an intelligent, cybernetic ape from the moon]].

* RealityIsUnrealistic: When first introduced, many fans especially British fans thought Tracer was voiced by an American doing a extravegated Cockney accent but later learn to their surprised that she was in fact voiced by British actress Creator/CaraTheobold.

* DoingInTheScientist: It's hard to see, but her "Comtesse" and "Huntress" skins have a set of puncture wounds on her neck, giving a [[OurVampiresAreDifferent much different explanation for her demeanor and physiology.]]

* MiniDressOfPower: Her "Odette" and "Odile" skins. Also counts as PimpedOutDress.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Her hair is blue to match her skin. Exactly how that works, considering blood doesn't circulate through hair, isn't quite clear. Her Talon skin displays blue hair even before her full transformation process took place, though.

Tracer is an Offense character who uses her incredible speed to zip around the map, harrassing and ambushing foes. Her ''Pulse Pistols'' fire rapidly and deal consistent damage at close range. Her incredible mobility comes from her ''Blink'' ability, which allows her to teleport a set distance horizontally and has three charges that replenish over time. This and her ''Recall'', which resets Tracer's location and health to where they were exacly three seconds ago while fully reloading her pistols, make her the perfect skirmisher. Her ultimate, ''Pulse Bomb'', tosses out a sticky grenade that adheres to the first enemy or surface it hits and explodes shortly after, dealing massive damage to foes within its blast.

Widowmaker is a Defense character who acts as the game's main sniper, keeping vigil over a friendly objective and swifly dispatching foes who enter her line of sight. Her weapon, the ''Widow's Kiss'', is mainly used as a sniper rifle with a scope to zoom in on enemies from afar and dispatch them with a well-aimed headshot. However, it can also act as a close-to-mid range automatic rifle for Widowmaker to protect herself from foes that venture close to her. To move around the map or evade enemies, Widowmaker has access to a ''Grappling Hook'' that can pull her to almost any location. Once she has established the perfect sniper nest, she can protect her flanks by deploying ''Venom Mines'', which explode when a foe comes close, releasing poison gas that damages nearby enemies and alerts Widowmaker to their location. Her ultimate, ''Infra-Sight'', activates Widowmaker's heat visor for a long duration, during which she and her allies can see enemies through walls and structures, allowing them to ambush and set up killshots before their foes even know where they are.
