* AddledAddict: Becomes addicted to blue blood and is now a shell of his former self.
* AxCrazy: After Cleo’s death, he beats Bullet inches from death and only gets worse as the Black Knight.
* TheBerserker: After he eats the Flame Flame Fruit and takes blue blood, all he focuses on is to destroy and burn his foes to ashes.
* BlackKnight: He dons the title of The Black Knight as a Commander of Blue Blood. He also gets a set of armor fitting for his new identity.
* BloodKnight: Greatly enjoys a good fight. As The Black Knight, it becomes all he’s good for.
* ChainPain: Uses a flaming chain as one of his primary weapons. He keeps it as The Black Knight.
* DespairEventHorizon: Loses much of his will after learning that not only was Cleo killed, he worked alongside those responsible, none of them mourned her (even badmouthing her) and they all kept it hidden from him.
* DiscardAndDraw: His dog Blaze loses its special abilities. Blake later gains the Flame Flame Fruit from Blue Blood to become so much deadlier.
* TheDitz: Isn’t all that smart, just like Cleo. Blueblood only cared for his power, his mind mattering little.
* DoomedByCanon: Blake has the same Devil Fruit as Portgas D. Ace. He is doomed to eventually die so Ace can eat the Flame Flame Fruit.
* FaceHeelTurn: Becomes an ally to the DLP, but once he realizes the truth about Cleo’s death, he leaves and joins Blue Blood for a chance a “true power”.
* FeralVillain: As the Black Knight, he is nearly completely fixated on violence and vengeance to the point of insanity.
* FieryRedhead: Has red hair and is very passionate and emotional. Though he’s more subdued as The Black Knight, he voice resonates with pure fury when talking with the crew.

* MrFanservice: Is quite the hunk with nice muscles and slick hair. After blue blood withdrawals, not so much now.
* MyGreatestFailure: Is devastated that he couldn’t protect Cleo, which was why he became strong in the first place.
* NiceGuy: Though a bit of a hothead, Blake is an easygoing, friendly guy who tries to see the best in those around him. Even once he realized the truth of Cleo’s death, Blake refrains from attacking the DLP before leaving for The Throne. But once he takes the identity of The Black Knight, this trait disappears completely.
* PlayingWithFire: After eating the Flame Flame Fruit, he gains many Fire-based abilities. He mostly uses this to hurl fireballs, explode into flames and incinerate all in his path.
* SanitySlippage: Starts as a friendly fella, then an angry man with self-restraint, then as The Black Knight begins as a stoic man who explains why he hates the crew, then a near feral man trying his damndest to kill at least one DLP member and finally a hollow shell of himself begging for blue blood.
* ShipperOnDeck: From how The Black Knight mockingly brought up Cyril to Pearl before trying to strike her down, Blake may have seen the two as a possible item.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Once Blake becomes The Black Knight, he becomes consumed with vengeance and kills many people without any care or remorse.
* TotallyRadical: Speaks like a cool 90’s dude. He also skateboards and his Marine disguise was named Turnpipe. He drops this after becoming the Black Knight.
* WalkingSpoiler: It’s hard to talk about The Black Knight without giving away that it’s him with the Flame Flame Fruit.

Added example(s)

to:

\n* Bookworm: Extremely well read and has a lot of knowledge stored in his noggin.
* HeelFaceTurn: Granted he was forced to work under Long John Magnum. But the moment His boss is beaten, he chooses to join Hemlock’s new Eight Flames.
* KnowledgeBroker: As the First Flame, he is in charge of finding, obtaining and giving information on various people, places and events. He’s even good enough to somehow get info on Kermit D. Frog, someone who lurked within the dream realm.
* TheOwlKnowingOne: He are an Owl Zoan and is a very smart man. As the first flame, he also has an owl companion.
* NiceGuy: Is a very friendly and jolly man who is more than willing to talk about books and facts to others. The only reason he was ever remotely considered an antagonist was because he was forced to be as a member of the Trojan Pirates.
* NonActionGuy: Though being an owl Zoan makes him tougher than usual, he is not really a fighter at all. He’s more at home at a library or working behind the scenes than on the battlefield.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: A studious scholar who wears a small pair of spectacles. Whether he is farsighted or nearsighted is unknown.

to:

* BetterWithNonHumanCompany: Not a very sociable person but seems to be quite fond of animals. She is very gentle with her baby deer companion and has volunteered at a zoo at least once.
* TheEeyore: Usually appears to be quite glum most of the time. Hard to blame her when she was a member of the Trojan Pirates against her will.
* HeelFaceTurn: Along with Humphrey and Taurus, she defects to Hemlock once Magnum is defeated. Not that she was ever bad.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: Her long hair usually hides one of her eyes.
* TheMarvelousDeer: As the Second Flame, she has a young fawn as an animal companion.
* MasterOfIllusion: She seems to have eaten some illusion-based Devil Fruit that can make others see and hear things that aren’t there.
* MeaningfulName: Malaise is a fitting name for somebody who seems perpetually melancholy.
* ShrinkingViolet: She’s quite shy and not particularly open to others. Though she seems to be [[AnimalLover very good with animals.]]
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: Has deep blue hair and is not much of a talker.

to:

* TheGhost: He has never been seen, only mentioned.
* TheMedic: What little we know of the new Third Flame is that he is a doctor of sorts.

to:

\n* BelligerentSexualTension: With William. They frequently bicker and take jabs at one another but have shown attraction to one another. They even drunkenly confessed to one another, made out and slept on a couch together. [[spoiler: It never went further than that on account of Void Gold Roger killing her.]]
* BerserkButton: Assassins, especially if they might know who killed her brother
* EveryoneHasStandards: Though she is shady knowledge broker who was involved in the slave trade, she hates and fears assassins due to one killing her brother.
** She also doesn’t like her adoptive father Big Top due to how he runs The Oasis with an iron fist.
* FastestGunInTheWest: She has a western accent and is a talented sharpshooter.
* TheGamblingAddict: Less so than William but she likes to wager information with a card game. Of course, she tries to cheat in these games.
* GunNut: Is really into guns of all kinds. [[TheNoseKnows She can even smell specially made bullets with but a whiff.]]
* TheGunslinger: Has been wielding guns since she can remember. She has a lot of tricks she can do with her guns. Some tricks she has includes…
** AbnormalAmmo: Like Verona, she has some special bullets. One bullet creates vines to entangle foes on impact.
** BottomlessMagazines: She never seems to run out of ammo on her person despite liberally shooting all the time.
** FiringInTheAirALot: When in a celebratory mood, she shoots her pistols into the air.
** GunsAkimbo: Can wield up to four guns at once, two in each hand.
** GunKata: Can move and swerve with quickly without compromising her aim all that much.
** GunTwirling: Of course she can twirl all those guns without issue.
** QuickDraw: Can draw up to four guns quickly all at once.
** Handguns: Prefers to use pistols over other guns, though she loves guns all the same.
** ImprobableAimingSkills: It’s hard enough to shoot two pistols at once with any kind of aim. Imagine shooting four guns at once with two pistols in each hand.
** LockAndLoad: Maintains her guns almost like they’re holy objects.
* HalfTheWomanSheUsedToBe: [[spoiler: She is sliced in two by the Gold Roger of another timeline with a single Kamusari after shooting him.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: Was a slaver/criminal who allied with the Steam Punk Pirates but worked with the DLP and Eight Flames and eventually joined the Reformed Eight Flames.
* Jerkass: Even if she claims she only became a slaver for the money, she still is way too into the idea of having slaves. It takes a while to get over this and it’s still something that many characters are uncomfortable with.
** HiddenHeartOfGold: She deeply valued her dead brother and noticeably hurt none of the Sterrans under her watch.
* KissingUnderTheInfluence: She was insanely drunk when she confessed to William and kissed him.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: When she saw that the crew had an Eight Flame Candle, she panics and all but gives up the fight.
* LongRangeFighter: She prefers to fight from a distance.
* NoRangeLikePointBlankRange: She shoots Cleo dead at point blank range. Blake beats her inches from death for once he discovers this.
* PersonaNonGrata: Is banned from the Oasis for stealing the Roulette Roulette Fruit from Big Top.
* SillySimian: Has a monkey as the Fourth Flame. The monkey can also shoot guns.
* TattooedCrook: Has a lot of tattoos on her body. Series artist Kaerru has even mentioned how difficult it was to draw her tattoos.
* TriggerHappy: It doesn’t take much to get her to whip out her pistols and ready for a shoot-out.
* YouKilledMyBrother: Gravy in his assassin days killed Bullet’s brother Pellet. Bullet wants revenge. Though she later decides to take her anger out on the person who took a hit out on her brother instead. [[spoiler: Which turned out to be Big Top.]]

to:

\n* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: To Ragnar for a bit due [[spoiler: to feeling much weaker after taking blue blood.]] He also seems to enjoy playfully one-upping Ragnar as the “strong bear guy” of the team.
* BearsAreBadNews: Get on his bad side and he can be very dangerous.
* BearyFriendly: To his friends, he is a lovable goofball.
* BearyFunny: His hamminess is [[PlayedForLaughs played for laughs.]]
* TheBerserker: Not the Berserker subclass or anything, but he doesn’t particularly think too hard about how he’s swinging his axes. Just that he’s swinging them HARD.
* BloodKnight: Loves a good brawl or competition of strength.
* BoisterousBruiser: Is a friendly enough guy, but is very good at crushing skulls when he has to.
* CallBack: He is a member of the Kuma Clan. Which was the abandoned village ransacked by the Steam Punk Pirates all the way back in episode 2 and had a chest containing the Bear Bear Fruit, Model: Grizzly within it. Olaf first appears in episode 61 mind you. Around two and a half years later in real life.
* Cloudcuckoolander: Is pretty out there sometimes. When the crew decides to form a line behind Ragnar in a mysterious and unfamiliar location, Olaf insists on making a second line. A conga line in fact.
* DualWielding: Unlike Ragnar who wields one big greataxe, Olaf wields two battleaxes.
* HotBlooded: Prone to emotional outbursts and is very expressive about his feelings.
* HuskyRusskie: Has a thick Russian accent and is big and strong.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: He expresses disappointment at the lack of Ragnar’s supposed legendary strength, [[spoiler: unaware that Ragnar is suffering from his newfound addiction to blue blood.]]
* LeeroyJenkins: Frequently charges into the fight shouting his own name without a care in the world.
* MadeOfIron: Is a very tough man. His hit point total is 250 according to the official wiki. That’s more hit points than even Trevor and the most of any of the DLP’s major allies.
* Manchild: Is not the most mature member of the reformed Eight Flames. He even expresses disappointment at not getting to go to an amusement park [[spoiler: during the time loop.]]
* MightMakesRight: He views individual strength as more impressive than the overall strength of a crew, though he has no issues with working as a team.
* MirrorCharacter: To Ragnar. Being the strong, buff guy of their respective teams who ate a bear zoan. A lot of people in-universe compare the two and remark on how similar they are. In some ways, he’s almost like Ragnar minus Ragnar’s [[CharacterDevelopment Character Development]] and [[HiddenDepths Hidden Depths]] that makes him more nuanced compared to Olaf.
* NemeanSkinning: Wears a polar bear hide, complete with a head. So he is a polar bear Zoan wearing a polar bear with a pet polar bear.
* Retcon: Olaf was initially mentioned as the Sixth Flame in the story. He is actually the Fifth Flame, with Scourge being the Sixth Flame.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: With Tempest as the wise guy. He tends to charge into situations while she tries the analyze the situation before taking action. She also has to keep him on track when he gets distracted.

to:

\n* AllWebbedUp: He are the Web Web Fruit which allows him to create spider webs to bind his targets.
** ProjectileWebbing: Can shoot out this webbing from his hands and swing around with webs. [[Franchise/SpiderMan Sounds familiar]]?
* Chuunibyou: He talks about the darkness within his heart and other edgy stuff, but it’s implied that it’s at least partially an act to seem cooler/scarier than he really is.
** Even when missing with both his attacks (the first attack rolls he did as a character mind you) by a wide margin, he still feels the need to pose as if he accomplished something.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Despite being edgy to silly degrees, he is the Sixth Flame for a reason. [[spoiler: He instantly disabled Memory Jefferson and his miniguns and even inflicted a critical hit on Gold Roger of all people.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: Despite his appearance, he actually seems quite friendly, if a little dorky.
* DarknessVonGothikName: Scourge is the sort of name you give somebody who is destined for edginess. Whether his parents/guardians chose to give him an edgy name, Scourge is just his nickname or he actually legally changed his name to Scourge is unknown.
* EleventhHourRanger: [[spoiler: Helps the DLP and shows what he can do in the very final battle of the campaign.]]
* {{Expy}}: It’s pretty obvious he’s essentially the One Piece version of [[Franchise/SpiderMan Spiderman]].
* FriendToBugs: He seems to adore his spider companion enough to allow it to crawl within his armor. He also gets pretty sad about the thought of ants dying.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: It’s possible Scourge puts up an edgy anti-hero act just to get people to acknowledge him as somebody who is awesome.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Tempest states that he is somewhat self conscious when William leaves him hanging for a handshake.
* SpidersAreScary: Has a spider companion and his armor/abilities have a spider motif. Though he himself isn’t all that scary (despite seemingly trying to be).

to:

* TheArchmage: Has this sort of appearance, staff and all. Though unlike most examples from [[TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons Dungeons and Dragons]], she is a sorcerer rather than a wizard. Of all the Player Characters in the campaign, she is also the only one who is a full casting class.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Hemlock. They’ve known each other since they were young.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Lost her younger brother many years ago. From what we know, he was killed in a tragic event.
* DeadpanSnarker: For someone who can make it rain, her sense of humor can be pretty dry.
* InstantMessengerPigeon: Her animal companion is a hawk that gives her messages from the other Flames.
* InterspeciesRomance: She remarks that she once dated a member of the Longarm Tribe when fighting a [[ItMakesSenseInContext Muppet Longarm Tribe Cenobite]].
* MagicStaff: Not exactly magic in an arcane way per se, but her staff is very ornate and is possibly used to help aim and manipulate her weather abilities.
* MrsRobinson: Is in her mid-40s and still looks great. She is just as flirtatious as her friend Hemlock if not more so. She was also quite impressed with William’s skills with his fingers. Being referred to as a young lady also flatters her greatly.
* PungeonMaster: Doesn’t really make to many of these herself, but she does keep a collection of puns in a journal.
* TheSmartGirl: She’s much smarter than most of the DLP. She is even smart enough to [[spoiler: figure out how a computer works very quickly when in the time loop.]]
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: With Olaf as the straight man. She is a no-nonsense person who tries to keep the mission on track with minimal collateral damage while Olaf charges into adversity headlong. She frequently has to keep him in line.
* TokenWizard: Sorcerer actually but Tempest is the only Player Character in the campaign who is a Full Spellcaster.
* WeatherManipulation: Her being a Storm Sorcerer is flavored as her eating the Weather Weather Fruit. She can create and manipulate weather as she sees fit, from rain to snow to anything else. ** AnIcePerson: She has access to Ray of Frost, Sleet Storm and Cone of Cold.
** BlowYouAway: She is able to blow creatures away from her with strong winds.
** FogOfDoom: She can create clouds and fog to obscure her surroundings. Her Mage Armor is flavored as cloudy fog around her body.
** ThePowerOfTheSun: Though not technically weather, she has access to the Sunburst Spell. This is flavored as her opening the sky to reveal the bright sun, possibly making a small hole in the ozone layer.
** ShockAndAwe: Has access to both Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning.

The Sixth Flame, Hemlock is a woman who specializes in poisons and infiltration. She was one of The Timber Lord’s Commanders, but she assisted the Devil’s Luck Pirates in taking him down. She along with Blake also helped defeat V. She then took over as leader of the Eight Flames and rebuilt the organization, becoming the new Eighth Flame.

Her animal companions is a bag of snakes all with different names (which include Monty and Noodle). At her command, they can grow to gigantic sizes.

! The Eight Flames

The Eight Flames was an assassin organization in The Oasis that worked under V, a former Brother of The Aeons. They assassins (many which have been trained since childhood) are hired and paid to kill whoever the contractor asks for. To assist in these missions, each Flame is given an animal companion that can become stronger at their master’s beck and call.

When V is killed, [[spoiler: Hemlock decides to reform The Eight Flames to become a mercenary group that does off-the-books jobs for marines and most others who pay them. They also got themselves a new base in a gigantic ship compared to a floating naval base.]]

[[folder: In General]]
* AnimalCompanion: Each Flame in both iterations have an animal/animals they take care of and use in combat.
** When [[spoiler: Hemlock takes over the Eight Flames, due to not having access to V’s technology the New Eight Flames animal companions are now mostly mundane animals in supporting roles.]]
* TheBeastmaster: Their animal companions are very loyal to their masters and many fight alongside their master with great efficiency.
* BroughtDownToNormal: Yaki, Blaze, the robotic chicken and Hemlock’s snakes lost their special abilities with the press of one of V’s buttons.
* ChildSoldiers: Many of the old Eight Flames have been training since they were children. [[spoiler: Hemlock puts an end to it once she becomes leader, making sure Taurus doesn’t become a Flame until he’s older.]]
* CoolShip: The New Eight Flames [[spoiler: bought a new gigantic ship with eight towers and big enough to be able to allow other ships to dock within it.]]
* DiscardAndDraw: The new crew [[spoiler: lost access to their enhanced animals but at least 5 of the Flames now have Devil Fruits.]]
* TheDreaded: Those who know of the Flames greatly fear them. When Ragnar showed the candle he picked up to Bullet, she immediately panics.
** This becomes less so once [[spoiler: Hemlock takes the reins. They became more like mercenaries and many of their new recruits are [[GoodSamaritan Good Samaritans]].]]
* HiredGuns: The New Eight Flames work various missions from whomever pays best. From Marines to the DLP to even volunteering at zoos.
* MadScientistLaboratory: V’s Eight Flame base was full of advanced technology and unethical experiments.
* MurderInc: V’s Eight Flames will assassinate anyone if the price is right. [[spoiler: Hemlock’s Eight Flames less so, but if they need to (or are paid enough) they will.]]
* OddlySmallOrganization: The organization only comprises of eight main members, not counting any other possible workers.
* OrphanageOfLove: [[spoiler: The crew open an orphanage for children in the epilogue.]]
* ProfessionalKiller: Every Eight Flame knows how to fight and kill as if it were an art form. [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] a bit with the [[spoiler: newer Eight Flames, but over half of the New Flames have a Devil Fruit.]]
* ResignationsNotAccepted: In V’s Flames, nobody quits the Flames. Those who try to leave are hunted down and killed in front of him.
* TookALevelInKindness: The New Eight Flames under [[spoiler: Hemlock are much more benevolent and thus more well respected by the world at large.]]
* TrackingDevice: Each Flame has a candle necklace. V’s Eight Flames also had tracking devices within their candles. [[spoiler: Hemlock got rid of that seeing that the tracking devices led the Devil’s Luck Pirates to their old base.]]
* YouKillItYouBoughtIt: If somebody kills an Eight Flame, their killer becomes the next flame. Those who get their candles this way tend not to last very long. [[spoiler: Hemlock ends this tradition soon after becoming the Eighth Flame.]]
