During the youkai banquet, Karu [[spoiler: under the foxtail illusion]] believes he sees his grandfather by the river bank and quickly tries to run after him so he wouldn't fall in.

* TraumaInducedAmnesia: The ''Misty Vale'' event story reveals [[spoiler:he used to be part of a wolf pack, but was kidnapped by humans. When the chief regaled the story to Eiden and Garu, Garu can't help but feel distressed despite not remembering the event at all.]] The trauma also shows up in Chapter 13, [[spoiler:where a man recognizes Garu and notices the gemstones he wears are "removed", and are on his collar. Garu freezes up in terror, and causes Karu to come out to protect him. It can be inferred that Karu exists as a defensive mechanism, and explains why Karu is so distrusting against humans.]]

* AllCrimesAreEqual: No matter who commits a crime, even a child stealing from people, he sees that everyone be properly punished. [[spoiler:He eventually realizes how cruel in hindsight it really is in Desert of Dusk, vowing to make changes so it so another incident like this doesn't happen again.]]

* OlderThanTheyLook: He apparently discovered his aging slows down thanks to his gem. In Astral Duo, it's revealed that he and Kuya have been alive for at least two double eclipses, which happen every fifty-four years, making them both a case of Really700YearsOld.

* OlderThanTheyLook: He's a youkai who's likely centuries old, with him commenting during his SSR side story that the newly human formed youkai's who invited him to their party happens every hundred years. He's also been friends with Quincy since knowing Huey, which was seventy years ago, with neither of them seemingly aging much. In Astral Duo, it's revealed that he and Quincy have been alive for at least two double eclipses, which happen every fifty-four years, making them both a case of Really700YearsOld.

* TheGhost: Most of what we know about Huey comes from what the characters know.

* DarkIsNotEvil: He wears a lot of dark colors, but is ultimately a nice and gentleman.

* OnlySaneByComparison: Out of the entire group, Edmond is the most well-adjusted of them all, having no apparent emotional baggage weighing him down. That said, Edmond isn't without his quirks, having an inhuman tolerance for sweets that makes Eiden grumble in exasperation.
