* FirstNameBasis: She always calls Shizuka by her first name, which is odd considering she used to be her teacher. [[note]]Even in Western countries, people tend to refer to their former teachers on a LastNameBasis out of respect.[[/note]]

* BirdsOfAFeather: With Hachiman. Both are sarcastic bookworms with a matching sense of humor. Both share their cynical view of the world, and, at the same time, [[ChronicHeroSyndrome feel the obligation to help those they encounter]]. Both have [[DarkAndTroubledPast a truckload of painful social experience]]. Though she believes, unlike Hachiman, that people can change and become better, both believe in genuine kindness, and it's because of their natural honesty that they ultimately understand each other. [[spoiler:It's this mutual undertanding that helps them become a couple by the end of the series]].

* HeIsNotMyBoyfriend: To Hachiman, with increasing frequency. Especially after anyone listens to their bickering for some time.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Yui. Yui's friendship with Yukino is also a driving force for her as she tries to get Yukino to open up. [[spoiler:This causes some angst for her as it's implied they like the same person.]]

* HypocriticalHumor: In a certain sense she can be seen as a hypocrite: totally sincere when she says to others what she thinks of them, but not really sincere with ''herself''. She's extremely honest, but due to her FatalFlaw (pride) she often calls out Hachiman for his arrogance, cynicism, and occasional naivety while being guilty of those very things herself (though less cynical than Hachiman). She also calls Hachiman's critique of Yoshiteru's light novel too harsh after having just torn into him herself. However, she gets better and becomes much more sincere with herself, losing her haughty, somewhat arrogant demeanor.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Despite repeatedly saying that she hates [[MartyrWithoutACause how Hachiman does things]] (and most certainly meaning it), Yukino has a bit of a martyr complex herself. Specifically, she has one when it comes to her family, as she's perfectly willing to even distance herself from her friends if it means earning her parents' approval, despite it being very clear that they do ''not'' have her best interests at heart. However, this is very much a case of TropesAreTools, as her and Hachiman helping out each other with their respective complexes is [[spoiler: what ultimately leads to them becoming a couple.]]
* HypocriticalHeartwarming: Barely a day goes by when she doesn't snark at or make fun of Hachiman for her own amusement, but she gets really pissed if she catches anyone else doing the same thing (even if she doesn't voice it out loud).
