An elderly, retired hero who offers to help teach Midoriya how to be a hero. He was All Might's homeroom teacher, and also a good friend of All Might's predecessor, making him one of the few who knows the full truth about One For All. His Quirk, "Jet" allows him to move at high speeds by taking in the air around him and releasing it through his feet for propulsion effect. Due to his age though, he can't use for a long time.

The second highest-ranking hero and Shouto Todoroki's father. He has flame-based powers and appears in person for the first time in chapter 28, watching his son in the U.A. sports festival. He is obsessed with taking over All Might's number one spot, which he plans to do through Shouto. His Quirk is "Hell Fire".

* CompletelyMissingThePoint: Believes that all that is needed for Shouto to surpass All Might and take the Number 1 Hero spot is having a superior Quirk power, ignoring that All Might is in the #1 spot because of how much effort he makes to be a positive role model in addition to his hero duties. This is Subverted later as he does seem to care more about the effort to reach the rank than the rank itself, so while still not getting most of the point, he at least understands how much work one has to do to accomplish that much.

** Also, he seems like this to Bakugou. Both are Fire quirk users, over-competitive {{Jerkass}}es that let the idea of being Number 1 completely take over their life. Endeavor is often seen as what Bakugou is doomed to become if he doesn't hold on to his most honorable side.
*** He even reacts similarly to Bakugou when [[spoiler: he gets promoted to Number 1 Hero in the wake of All Might's retirement. That was ''not'' how he wanted to win.]]
* HateSink: There is nothing redeemable about him. He's an abusive father, an implied rapist, and cares more about glory than being a hero. The closest thing he has to a redeemable quality is his concern for Shouto holding back in battle, but even that was for his own personal gain. Even WordOfGod calls him a shitty dad.

[[folder:Kamui Woods]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Masamichi Kitada (Japanese), Aaron Roberts (English)
[[quoteright:150:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kamui_wood_9.png]]

A pro hero with wooden powers.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: Sort of. His intro scene in the first episode of the anime gave him a better showing of his capabilities than the original manga rendition, making him more akin to a wood based Spider-Man without the wall crawling or sense of humor.
* ButtMonkey: So far always getting shown up by other heroes. He does get to show some competence later, though.
* GardenGarment: Most of his outfit consists of wood, which is practical considering his Quirk.
* GreenThumb: His Quirk is plant based and allows him to grow wood from his body.
* LogicalWeakness: Fire, as stated in the first chapter.
* NatureLover: Implied. The Volume 1 back cover uses him as a warning against littering, which he apparently doesn't forgive.
* PlantPerson: Covered head to toe in wood.
* RealMenWearPink: Wears a chain of pink flowers at the side of his belt.
* SignatureMove: "Lacquer Prison", a crowd binding technique.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Frequently seen and working alongside Mount Lady. This even extends to the back cover of the first volume, where they are both featured.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mount Lady]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KaoriNazuka (Japanese), Creator/JamieMarchi (English)
[[quoteright:180:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mt_lady.png]]

A pro heroine with gigantification abilities.
----
* AttentionWhore: She's in the hero business for the fame, which is why she operates in the city instead of a more open area where she would have room to maneuver.
* DestructiveSavior: Her debut caused a lot of property damage. HeroInsurance covers some of it, but she's still in the red. Doesn't help that she unwittingly activates her powers when she get too worked up, which winds up costing her a headquarters.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: Technically and justified, despite looking like she's wearing boots it's more something akin to stockings over her feet since her outfit is designed to stretched in size with her. Trying to wear regular shoes would just demolish them once she uses her powers.
* FormFittingWardrobe: Wears one that slim all around her body, especially around her rear which many a male onlooker have no problem with taking pictures of her.
* KillSteal: Defeats the villain Kamui Wood was fighting in the starting chapters and takes the glory from him. It's later revealed it was indeed deliberate to boost her own status as she explains is common within the hero community to get noticed. She claims she feels sorry about it but Kamui Wood isn't buying it.
* LogicalWeakness:
** At giant size, she can't operate in any area smaller than a two-lane street along with being unable to control how big she grows. So she's useless against a villain in a crowded pedestrian area.
** It's also shown that her costume is made of a soft stretchable fabric, since solid stuff like the soles of shoes wouldn't be able to grow with her. This can leave her somewhat vulnerable, and in order to demolish the front of a building she had to use a truck as a makeshift shoe to protect her feet from glass and metal.
* MaleGaze: Her rear tends to get a lot of attention in her appearances, especially since her costume's design pattern emphasizes her lower torso.
* MsFanservice: Her outfit covers most of her body, but since it's so form-fitting, it falls under this.
* PowerIncontinence: A minor form, but she's revealed to accidentally enlarge herself if she gets flustered, which doesn't help her DestructiveSavior tendencies.
* SignatureMove: "Canyon Cannon", a DynamicEntry done in giant form.
* SizeShifter: Her Quirk allows her to grow into a giant. However she also can't adjust how much she grows: she can only be her normal height (162 cm) and 2062 cm, with nothing in between.
* TakingTheBullet: She stops the villains from catching Bakuguo again by blocking a FastballSpecial. This is after being heavily injured by Sensei.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Frequently seen alongside Kamui Wood. This even extends to the back cover of the first volume, where they are both featured.

[[folder:Tensei Iida -- Ingenium]]

Iida's elder brother and a super-popular hero who, according to Iida, values the rules and guides the people. Iida aspires to become a hero like him someday. [[spoiler: After being almost killed by "Hero Killer" Stain, his legs become paralytic, presumably ending his hero career.]]
----
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Goes mutually between the Iida brothers. While Tenya considers Tensei to be the example he must live up to, Tensei considers Tenya to have more potential as a hero than he himself does, and he praises Tenya for having better reflexes and intelligence.
* CareerEndingInjury: [[spoiler: His legs are paralyzed after he was almost killed by Stain.]]
* HeroicLineage: The eldest son of the Iida family of speedster heroes, and Tenya's personal idol.
* HumbleHero: Was shown in a flashback to be rather surprised, but pleased, that his younger brother Tenya held him in high regards - as he otherwise didn't act like he felt he did anything special in being a hero.
* NiceGuy: A lot more mellow than his straight laced younger brother, Tensei is the sort that considers someone that does something as simple as helping a lost kid find their way home to be awesome.
* PassingTheTorch: [[spoiler: He requests Iida to take on the name "Ingenium", but Tenya believes that he isn't ready to do that yet.]]
* UnusualEyebrows: They're shaped like arrows pointing away from the center of his forehead.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Enji Todoroki -- Endeavor]]

The second highest-ranking hero and Shouto Todoroki's father. He has flame-based powers and appears in person for the first time in chapter 28, watching his son in the U.A. sports festival. He is obsessed with taking over All Might's number one spot, which he plans to do through Shouto. His Quirk is "Hell Fire".
----
* AbusiveParents: He only sees Shouto as a tool to surpass All Might and nothing more. He doesn't even refer to him as a person, but "it". And that's still better than the way he treats Shouto's older brothers, whom he has completely dismissed as worthless.
* AlwaysSecondBest: Despite All Might's limitations, he's maintained his rank, making Endeavor fall under this. This is something Endeavor can't stand, however, and he's obsessed with knocking All Might off the position - even using his own son as a tool to do so.
* ArcVillain: Arguably of the Sports Festival Arc, as everything Shouto does during it leads back to him.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: He's the hero with the highest tally of solved cases in the world, and is shown that he has well honed deductive abilities, analysing Hero Killer Stain's actions to predict he'd go back to the place he struck before to finish a pattern instead of moving on to another area. The only other person who figured out Stain's pattern of movements was Iida Tenya, his son's classmate.
* BadassBeard: It's made of '''fire'''! Also, it can be turned on and off.
* [[BigDamnHeroes Big Damn]] [[NominalHero Nominal Heroes]]: [[spoiler: He arrives just in the nick of time in chapter 51 to save some civilians from and join the fight against the Noumu.]]
* BunnyEarsLawyer: A twisted example in which the expected quirkiness of the trope is instead replaced with pure selfish jerkassery that somehow doesn't affect his effectiveness as a hero.
* ChekhovsGunman: Introduced way before his son and the dramatic plotline that involves them.
* CompletelyMissingThePoint: Believes that all that is needed for Shouto to surpass All Might and take the #1 Hero spot is having a superior Quirk power, ignoring that All Might is in the #1 spot because of how much effort he makes to be a positive role model in addition to his hero duties. And also, you know, his son being the number one hero means HIS SON BEING NUMBER ONE HERO INSTEAD OF HIMSELF.
* EarlyBirdCameo: He appears in an ad for U.A. in the third chapter.
** He appears even earlier in a TV screen in the first chapter.
* EvilCounterpart: Arguably to Bakugou. Much like Bakugou, he cares a lot about being number one. However, despite Bakougou's Jerkassery, he does have an honorable side while Endeavor will do anything to get what he wants, even if it screws other people over.
* EvilIsPetty: Going to such extremes just to prove he's better then All Might. What makes it dumber is that All Might is completely unaware of his imagined rivalry and even if he was, likely wouldn't care.
* FlamingHair: His beard and moustache. His actual hair is, oddly enough, normal. It's later revealed that he has an actual beard and mustache, but will set them on fire when he wants to showcase his fearsomeness.
* {{Foil}}: To All Might, while they are both very powerful heroes, Endeavor is only in it for the glory and feels like his rank is the most important thing, while All Might is legitimately trying to do good.
** Also, he seems like this to Bakugou. Both are Fire quirk users, over-competitive jerkasses that let the idea of being number one completely take over their life. Endeavor is often seen as what Bakugou is doomed to become if he doesn't hold on to his most honorable side.
* ItIsDehumanizing: He has no qualms about calling his eldest children "things", and even refers to his personal favorite, Shouto, as "that boy he made."
* ItsAllAboutMe: All he cares about is being the Number One Hero, even if he has to live that dream through his son.
** In Chapter 86, he complains about having to [[spoiler: rescue Bakugou]] because of his busy schedule.
* {{Jerkass}}: Despite being a top-ranked hero, he's not a pleasant person, as seen above.
* JerkassHasAPoint: While certainly an abusive jerk who can hardly be called a parent, his advice to Shouto to stop holding back so much isn't entirely wrong. Especially since Shouto might have lost the Cavalry Battle if he hadn't unleashed his flame powers.
** Midoriya seems to agree, in Chapter 38, after seeing Shouto start to be badly affected by just using his ice, he yells at him and tells him to stop holding back.
** Even [[spoiler: Shouto]] himself agrees after going through some CharacterDevelopment. He claims that [[spoiler: before, he would never consider being around his father for hero training, but admits that he has valuable experience from which he can learn from.]]
* MaritalRapeLicense: He forced Shouto's mother to marry him, and to bear children, until he had one that satisfied him. Shouto's mother's absolute trauma over this, to the point she permanently scarred her son, and her stated lack of willingness to the marriage basically confirms this.
* NinetiesAntiHero: He doesn't have the name of one, but he does have the psychopathy, frequent use of excessive force, surly attitude, and single-minded determination of one.
* ObviouslyEvil: Really, the flaming beard was a dead giveaway.
* ParentalFavoritism: In a very twisted way, that actually makes him seem like an even more abusive parent. He believes Shouto is the only child he has sired who has the potential to surpass All Might. The others are worthless to him.
* ParentalNeglect: He pretty much abandoned Shouto's older siblings since they lacked the potential to surpass All Might in his eyes. Flashbacks in Chapter 39 show that this actually worked out in their favor, since they were spared the abusive training that Shouto was forced to endure.
* PlayingWithFire: His Quirk.
* PragmaticVillainy: If he ever does anything admirable, it's usually for his own personal gain.
* PsychoticSmirk: Gives an impressive one, bordering on SlasherSmile, when [[spoiler: in chapter 39, he sees Shouto finally activating his fire powers in battle.]]
* TheRival: To All Might, [[UnknownRival even though All Might himself doesn't appear to see him as one thanks to not being as competitive as him.]]
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Adored by the public but a bastard of human being behind closed doors.
* WreathedInFlames: His costume is literally made of flames.

[[folder:Tsunagu Hakamada -- Best Jeanist]]

The fourth highest-ranking hero. He's the one that picks Bakugou for internship. His Quirk is "Fiber Master", which grants him manipulation powers over clothing.
----
* ActionFashionista: One of the top four heroes, and also a trendsetter.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: Let's just be glad his Quirk didn't end up in the wrong hands.
* ChekhovsGunman: Introduced alongside Endeavor in an ad in the third chapter. Started playing an actual role in the story 45 chapters later.
* ClothingCombat: He can manipulate fibers, essentially allowing him to control clothing. [[HeartIsAnAwesomePower This is much more powerful than it sounds]] as it is practically impossible for anyone wearing any sort of clothing to be able to resist his Quirk.
* GenreSavvy: States how he notices that Bakugou's personality could very well swing toward villainy, and hopes to steer him off such a path, before that happens.
** WrongGenreSavvy: That said, whatever methods he used to in order attempt this were completely ineffective.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Takes the brunt of Sensei's devastating attack whilst pushing the rest of his fellow pro heroes out of the way using his Quirk, and is quickly dispatched immediately afterwards.]]
* HighCollarOfDoom: Wears a high collar over his mouth. It also looks like a pair of pants.
* KilledMidSentence: [[spoiler: Or rather, killed mid-thought.]]
* {{Visual Pun}}[[PunnyName ny Name]]: His collar resembles a pair of jeans, pulled up around his head.
* TheWorfEffect: [[spoiler: Gets hit with this HARD in chapters 88 and 89 by [[BigBad Sensei]] - who utterly trounces him and several other pro heroes in less than a second - and finally guts Jeanist with a flick of his finger when he tries to surprise attack Sensei afterwards.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Edge Shot]]

The fifth highest-ranking hero. A man dressed in ninja garbs. His Quirk is "Foldabody", granting him paper physiology.
-----
* CoolMask: Part of his hero costume.
* GenreSavvy: He was aware of Kurogiri's status as a HyperCompetentSidekick, so he took him down first (which he was able to do by studying Bakugou's own fight against Kurogiri, in another case of this trope).
* GratuitousNinja: The only way to explain why the fifth best hero in a contemporary, {{Superhero}} setting is a ninja.
* PaperPeople: His Quirk allows him to flatten himself, allowing him to pass through narrow spaces.
* PeekABangs
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Yes, he does have all the typical ninja accessories.
* WeakButSkilled: Can perform some impressive maneuvers with his Quirk thanks to rigorous training.

[[folder:Gran Torino]]

An elderly, retired hero who offers to help teach Midoriya how to be a hero. He was All Might's homeroom teacher, and also a good friend of All Might's predecessor, making him one of the few who knows the full truth about One For All. His Quirk, "Jet" allows him to move at high speeds by taking in the air around him and releasing it through his feet for propulsion effect. Due to his age though, he can't use for a long time.
----
* BadassGrandpa: He may be very old, but he can still completely overwhelm Midoriya in combat.
* BadassTeacher: Once he drops his senile act, he's shown to be far better at getting Deku to learn how One For All works than All Might. He helped Deku learn what was restraining his use of One For All in a single chapter when All Might failed to do so in over forty-five. He even lampshades it:
--> '''Gran Torino''': That damned justice-junkie All Might's lower than beginner level when it comes to ''education!''
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: In his introduction, he mostly just rambles on and repeatedly asks who Midoriya is. When Midoriya decides he's had enough and tries to leave, Gran Torino suddenly gets ''much'' more serious and starts showing his power.
** In the following chapter he's seen bouncing all over the place, with Deku unable to land a hit. The only time our protagonist even manages to ''touch'' the geezer, the old man reverses it and face plants Midoriya with ease. Yeah, he's that kind of badass.
* DominoMask: Part of his hero costume.
* TheDreaded: Played for laughs, as All Might is absolutely '''terrified''' of him despite his own power, treating the man with absolute respect and shivering all the while. It's rather justified though, as Torino beat the ''snot'' out of him as part of his training, forcing All Might to spew chunks in every spar. It was so bad that All Might ''subconsciously suppressed his memories of his time with Torino!''
* {{Expy}}: Not only is he [[Franchise/StarWars Yoda]]-sized, but the author actively based his character off the famous little green man from the Dagobah system.
* HumbleHero: Despite his Quirk being on par with One For All, he's considered a nobody in the hero business, which suits him just fine as he doesn't care for the hero life.
* IWasQuiteALooker: Flashbacks of him training All Might show that he used to have a HeroicBuild rivaling All Might.
* LightningBruiser: His "Jet" Quirk turns him into this, on top of {{Flight}} and SuperSpeed. It allows him to move about at speeds even higher than Tenya can. In training Deku, he moves so fast around the room that he can easily turn Deku's attack against him and faceplant him.
* MiniatureSeniorCitizens: He's Yoda sized.
* ObfuscatingInsanity: His senility is mostly just an act.
* OldMaster: One to Midoriya, and though he wasn't quite so old back then, to All Might.
* ScatterbrainedSenior: Going by his constant forgetfulness, it appears he might have some sort of dementia. It's subverted by the following chapter, as he's shown to have an incredibly sharp and analytical mind and his dementia was just an act.
* WaxOnWaxOff: His method of teaching Deku the ins and outs of One For All involves menial chores like microwaving frozen taiyaki as a metaphor for evenly spreading the power across his body. He isn't particularly fond of it however, and lampshades it when Deku begins using it as a mental image as a means of activating One For All safely.
-->'''Torino:''' So the image in your head is a taiyaki in the microwave, eh? That's a whole new ''echelon'' of plain buddy, but what good will it do?
* WhamLine: "The man who [[spoiler:killed the possessor of One For All before you, my dear friend, and your mentor... Shimura- the very same man who punched a hole in your gut, '''All For One has swung into action again!'''"]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mizushima Masaki -- Manual]]

The hero that Iida chose for internship. A "normal hero".
----
* TheGenericGuy: Invoked. His policy to be an all-around normal hero is supposed to represent a standard for upcoming heroes to follow, thus his hero name.
* JackOfAllStats: Unsurprisingly, his databook stats are all 3 out of 5.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fourth Kind]]

A hero who works as a civil servant. Both Kirishima and Tetsutetsu wind up assigned to him. His Quirk is "Four Arms".
----
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Has four arms.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gun Head]]

A hero who Ochako is assigned to. His Quirk is "Gatling Gun".
----
* CoolMask: His mask has gun pistols in it.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: See CoolMask above.
* GatlingGood: His arms have gatling gun-like organs that fire keratin-based projectiles.
* VerbalTic: Has one that Ochako finds "cute", ending his sentences with "Okay".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Uwabami]]

A snake heroine Yaoyorozu and Kendou from 1-B are assigned to. Works as a model when not doing hero duties. Her Quirk is "Snake Hair".

----

* PrehensileHair: Considering that her hair is made of living snakes.
* SnakePeople: Labeled as a "Snake Heroine". Any fans familiar with Horikoshi's previous manga,''Oumagadoki Doubutsuen'' will likely remember this, if her design wasn't clear enough already.
* SnakesAreSexy: Given that she is a model. This was definitely the case in ''Oumagadoki Doubutsuen'' as well, where she was an actual snake that could become a human.
* SuperSenses: Granted by her snakes, which have excellent senses.
* {{Transplant}}: She's from the author's first official manga, ''Manga/OumagadokiDoubutsuen'' - though in this universe, apparently now a human with Quirks, rather then an animal that can take human form.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Wild Wild Pussycats]]

A four-person hero team that specializes in mountain and forest rescues. Their members are: Mandalay, Pixiebob, Ragdoll and Tiger.
----
* BerserkButton: As Deku quickly learns, do ''not'' bring up [[ChristmasCake Pixiebob's]] age in any way while she's in earshot.
* BroughtDownToNormal: [[spoiler: Ragdoll had her Quirk stolen by All For One.]]
* CatGirl: The overall theme of their costumes.
* DishingOutDirt: Pixiebob's Quirk, "Flowstone", lets her control dirt and rock.
* DominoMask: Tiger.
* MsFanservice: All of them... except [[FanDisservice Tiger]].
* OddNameOut: Tiger is the only one who doesn't have a cute-sounding name.
* TheOmniscient: Ragdoll's Quirk, "Search", allows her to track up to 100 people at a time and know both their locations and weak points. [[spoiler: And, unfortunately for her, given the strength of such a Quirk, it made Sensei leap at the chance to steal it when given the opportunity.]]
* TheOneGuy: Tiger, again.
* RatedMForManly: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]]. Tiger is definitely out of place in the Wild Wild Pussycats, sans costume.
* RealMenWearPink: Tiger is one of the manliest characters introduced so far, despite the fact that he wears the same CatGirl costume like that of his fellow teammates.
* RubberMan: Tiger has a very flexible body, thanks to his Quirk, "Soft Body".
* {{Telepathy}}: Mandalay's Quirk.
* TestosteronePoisoning: Tiger is all about this, except for his costume.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Ragdoll has teal hair.

[[folder:The first [[spoiler: user of One For All]]]]

Currently unnamed, [[spoiler:he is the first user of "One For All". He was the brother of the wielder of "All For One". He tried and failed to defeat his villainous brother, and for reasons no-one is certain of yet, received from his brother a Quirk that stockpiles power. It turned out he already had an innate Quirk, although its only power was that the user could transfer it to others. These two Quirks combined to form One For All. He still could not defeat his brother, but was able to pass his Quirk down to successors.]]
----
* BlindingBangs: In the flashback sequences.
* CainAndAbel: [[spoiler: He's the Abel to his brother, the villainous wielder of "All for One".]]
* NoNameGiven: As of now, he is completely unnamed.
* PosthumousCharacter: Is presumed to be deceased.
* {{Precursor Hero|es}}: [[spoiler: As the source of "One For All". Interestingly, he actually failed to defeat his brother in the past, and was forced to leave his task to his successors.]]
* SuperEmpowering: [[spoiler: His Quirk would have been useless if his brother didn't give him another one.]]
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: His Quirk was so useless that no-one knew it existed at first. Its power was [[spoiler: that it could be transferred to another person. Otherwise, the Quirk had no effect...]]
** HeartIsAnAwesomePower: [[spoiler: ...until the owner got another Quirk that stockpiles power. The two Quirks would combine to form "One For All".]]

[[folder:Nana Shimura]]

All Might's predecessor and the 7th wielder of One For All. She died many years ago in battle against All For One, but not before passing her Quirk to All Might first.
----
* LukeIAmYourFather: A variation where TheReveal is not done between the family members themselves, but rather two people closely related to them (in this case, All Might and All For One).
* TheMentor: One toward All Might, least before her death.
* PosthumousCharacter: Long dead before the start of the story.
* PrecursorHero: She was the previous user of One For All, and was All Might's mentor.
* SamusIsAGirl: Turns out All Might's predecessor was female.
* SevenIsNana: Naturally, the seventh user of One For All is called Nana.
* WalkingSpoiler: She's the first known female user of One For All, and was the one who passed her Quirk to Toshinori, who would later become All Might. She is also [[spoiler:Shigaraki's grandmother.]]
