* EnlightenedSelfInterest: The United States will meddle in foreign governments that stray too far from liberal democracy, their interests, justifying their actions as necessary to stop Fascist tyranny from spreading to the free world.world.
* TheFederation: The American-led Organization of Free Nations has become more than just a military alliance by MTNO's timeframe, taking the mantle as the proliferator of democracy and human rights. It has also branched into the areas of economic assistance and scientific development through the Economic Assistance Council and the Technological and Scientific Development Council respectively, bringing OFN members closer and making it into a feasible alternative to the German KdN. Additionally, several non-governmental organizations are funded by OFN member states and play an important role in the OFN's expansion.
* OppressiveStatesOfAmerica: Depending on the success of the Bachmann Presidency, America call fall to authoritarian backsliding and cease to be a shining beacon of democracy, as elections are gerrymandered, protesters are beaten by pro-government paramilitaries and America continues losing its place in the global stage.

* UnfitForGreatness: Nader's environmentalism and general progressive stances are admirable, yet, he is an uncharismatic leader, and his platform fails to gain support from most Americans.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Nader is an offscreen character, who cannot become President in the first place, yet, his defeat marks a turning point for the NPP, who can finally cast away their centrist old guard and shift towards the left or the right.

->'''Party:''' Republican-Democratic Coalition (Republicans)

The 36th President of the United States, serving from January 20th, 1961 to March 5th, 1964.

* HatedByAll: Nixon is best-remembered for his VETO of the Civil Rights Act, shady actions in government, and entry into the South African War. As you'd expect, no one remembers him in a positive light.
* TheScapegoat: Nixon's Presidency had a major impact in the 60s, and thus, he is often blamed for the issues that have plagued America since then.

The 37th President of the United States, serving from March 5th, 1964 to March 31st, 1964.
----
* WeHardlyKnewYe: JFK's Presidency was remarkably short, and ended in his brutal assassination at the hands of a White Supremacist.
* ShortLivedLeadership: JFK was only in office for 26 days before he was assassinated, making his Presidency the shortest in United States history.
* KilledOffScreen: His death happened long before MTNO's starting date.
* WhoShotJFK: Like in our timeline, JFK is mostly remembered for his traumatic death, and the bizarre conspiracy theories that surround it.

----
* InternalReformist: Apart from passing the Civil Rights Act in 1965 and trying to implement further progressive legislation, RFK also pursued labor reforms.
* HeroicSacrifice: RFK knew he would put his life on the line by persecuting far-right groups and passing the Civil Rights Act, but did so anyway.
* DontCreateAMartyr: Ironically, RFK became a martyr for American progressives, and some of his reforms, even if unfinished, were set in stone after his death.

The 40th President of the United States, serving from September 9th, 1968 to January 20th, 1969.
----
* ShortLivedLeadership: Thurmond blackmailed his way into power, but his Presidency only lasted four months.
* HateSink: Apart from usurping the Presidency through illegitimate means, Thurmond did everything in his power to undo the Civil Rights Act, and is remembered as the most hateful President in United States history.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Thurmond's Presidency confirmed the extent of racism in America's political institutions, further damaging the country's reputation and giving momentum to future Progressive movements.
* IRegretNothing: Unlike in our timeline, Strom never distanced himself from his segregationist views, taking pride in his actions up until his last breath.

The 41st President of the United States, serving from January 20th, 1969 to January 20th, 1973.
----
* BreakingTheGlassCeiling: Smith was the first female President in United States history, and implemented several reforms targeted towards women's rights.
* {{Warhawk}}: Under her, the United States expanded its operations in South Africa in an attempt to put a quick end to the war.
** NiceJobBreakingItHero: After a large US offensive, Boer and German forces finally agreed to a ceasefire, putting an end to the war. While Smith proclaimed the war to have ended in a "resounding American victory", her supporters criticized her for making a "weak peace", while the American public saw it as a disappointing outcome.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Smith sided with progressive causes time and time again, and, thanks to her, the NPP grew stronger and broke with the far-right completely. Yet, the fallout from the end of the South African War had a greater impact on her popularity than any other accomplishment.

The 42nd President of the United States, serving from January 20th, 1973 to January 20th, 1981.
----
* {{Warhawk}}:
** Kirkpatrick's Presidency saw the creation of the "Kirkpatrick Doctrine", where several Latin American governments not aligned with United States interests were subject to US-sponsored coups and interventions.
** Also under Kirkpatrick, the United States engaged in various proxy wars, stopping the spread of Pro-German Ba'athism into North Africa, giving material support to China during the Great Asian War, and convincing the Germans into giving up Moskowien to the Russians in exchange for a ceasefire.
* AntiHero: While Kirkpatrick's actions and methods were questionable, she was genuinely able to save the United States from losing the Cold War, and put a halt to the spread of Fascism in the rest of the world.
* EveryoneHasStandards: While Kirkpatrick took a radically anti-German stance, she agreed to put aside her differences and help in the creation of the [=KdN=].
** This is {{downplayed}} by the fact Kirkpatrick made demands to ensure the organization didn't just become a tool for German influence.
* WorthyOpponent: To Speer. Kirkpatrick was able to outmaneuver Speer while he was at his peak, and while that didn't stop Germany's momentum, it killed their chance to win the Cold War then and there.
* OneHundredPercentAdorationRating: ZigZagged. While Kirkpatrick is widely recognized as one of the most important American Presidents of the 20th century, some of her actions have remained controversial nonetheless.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler: By backing a Fascist warlord state in the Russian Far East, she created a PR disaster for the R-Ds once it was revealed to the public, and Leonard Woodcock's bid to become President was destroyed.]]

----
* InternalReformist: His tenure saw the introduction of the Equal Rights Amendment and the National Health Insurance Act, along with various progressive reforms.
* HumbleHero: Ted gave the spotlight to his allies in the civil rights movement during his administration, and when his family objected to his 1984 reelection bid, he declared he wouldn't run for a second term and would instead return to congressional politics, where he could advance progressive causes more effectively.
* TakingUpTheMantle: He was the third Kennedy to take office, and his Presidency saw the advancement of several of RFK's reforms.
* OneHundredPercentAdorationRating: He left office with stellar approval ratings.

The 44th President of the United States, serving from January 20th, 1985 to January 20th, 1993.
----
* WeAreStrugglingTogether: Dole's campaign counted on the support of moderate conservatives, new right figures, advocates of neoliberalism, and right-wing fringes, all opposed to Jesse Jackson's presidential bid.
* EvilReactionary: Subverted. While he earned endorsements from radical conservatives, Dole voted in favor of the Civil Rights Act during his congressional career and took a moderately conservative stance on social issues.
* YourApprovalFillsMeWithShame: Dole was genuinely disturbed after an aging Strom Thurmond endorsed his Presidential bid.
* InternalReformist: During his Presidency, Dole pioneered liberal economic reforms.

See this
entry into the South African War. As you'd expect, no one remembers him in a positive light.
* TheScapegoat: Nixon's Presidency had a major impact in the 60s, and thus, he is often blamed for the issues that have plagued America since then.

The 39th President of the United States, serving from January 20th, 1965 to September 9th, 1968.
----
* InternalReformist: Apart from passing the Civil Rights Act in 1965 and trying to implement further progressive legislation, RFK also pursued labor reforms.
* HeroicSacrifice: RFK knew he would put his life
on the line by persecuting far-right groups and passing the Civil Rights Act, but did so anyway.
* DontCreateAMartyr: Ironically, RFK became a martyr for American progressives, and some of his reforms, even if unfinished, were set in stone after his death.
