He was able to drink a potion that rendered him temporarily immune to her confessor power, letting him touch her without concern. During the season 1 finale, he put a necklace that renders her powerless and tells her he wishes to have his as his queen. Kahlan has nothing but hate for him for all of the horrible atrocities he's caused, preferring death over sharing a bed chamber with him.
