* ForWantOfANail:
** The events of the entire game happening can be attributed to Taranza's failure to recognize Kirby, not Dedede, as the true hero of Popstar. Had Taranza done so, his plans would've succeeded -- Queen Sectonia would have remained unchallenged ([[AGodAmI and probably succeeded in becoming Popstar's goddess like she intended]]), and everyone would live miserably under her tyrannical rule. Though, as that game's bonus content shows, Dedede might've been capable of saving the day himself.
** A more tragic example that led to Sectonia's StartOfDarkness -- according to WordOfGod, Taranza unwittingly caused Sectonia's insanity when he decided to give her the Dimension Mirror as a gift, not knowing of the imprisoned Dark Meta Knight. Had he not done so, the events of the entire game would have been avoided, and Sectonia would continue to rule Floralia as the kind and fair ruler she originally was.

* FighterMageThief: The Fighter to Adeleine's Mage and Daroach's Thief in ''Star Allies.'' He's a ruthless warrior who has a lot of hard-hitting slashing moves from his sword, along with some mirror-based powers.

* FighterMageThief: The Thief to Dark Meta Knight's Fighter and Adeleine's Mage in ''Star Allies''. He has a bunch of tricks up his sleeve and is able to summon the Squeaks at his disposal. Doubles as a literal example, as he's an actual rat thief.

* ArmedFemalesUnarmedMales: His boss Sectonia wields a pair of staffs that can turn into rapiers, while Taranza has no weapons and resorts to using magic and puppetry.

* ButtMonkey: Poor Taranza. He nearly gets killed by his queen for his failures, gets brainwashed by [[spoiler:his own EvilCounterpart]] in an AlternateUniverse, and fails to revive Sectonia in ''Star Allies''. Even some of the game's title screen animations show bad stuff happening, such as being knocked over by a bunch of Broom Hatters sweeping the floor, and even missing the opportunity to talk to Adeleine, Ribbon, Susie, and Vividria.

** This also applies to his design. Originally nearly identical to Meta Knight (to the point where he only had to change his colors to disguise as him), artwork for the game and later appearances would give him many distinguishing features beyond the gash in his mask given to him by his counterpart. His visor is thinner, his cape is tattered, and his Galaxia is silver with a blue gem. ''Star Allies'' would later give him even more details, such as numerous scratches on his mask, orange eyes rather than Meta Knight's yellow, tattered wings, his icon being on his right shoulder (mirroring Meta Knight's icon being on his left shoulder) and his Galaxia retaining its six prongs, whereas Meta Knight's Galaxia had been redesigned to have four prongs.

!!The Squeaks
A group of mouse bandits traveling the universe in search of treasure, the Squeaks (aka the "Squeak Squad") are the main antagonists and titular characters of ''VideoGame/KirbySqueakSquad''. While they're persistent thorns in Kirby's side throughout that game, they lack any grand designs, and are more nuisances than outright evil. When they reappear in ''Kirby Mass Attack'', they become vital allies.

* AntiHero: They became this after their HeelFaceTurn; even though they're stealing treasures, they're still friends with Kirby.
* AntiVillain: They're villains in ''Squeak Squad'', but they aren't as evil as Dark Nebula, who possessed Daroach. They eventually become friends with Kirby after their HeelFaceTurn.
* AssistCharacter: Daroach's gimmick in ''Star Allies'' has him summon the other Squeaks to lay down the hurt. Storo will crush any foe beneath his weight, Doc will orbit around Daroach like a shield, and Spinni will slash enemies with his WolverineClaws. He can also summon the Squeakers if he tries to summon Spinni while the latter's still running around.

* BanditMook: Both the Squeakers and the minibosses themselves can make Kirby lose the chest he took and then take it away to their hideout. Should it happen, Kirby has to hit them to take it back.
* BreakoutCharacter: Daroach and the Squeaks are more prominent in games like ''Mass Attack'' and ''Star Allies'' than the ''actual'' villain in ''Squeak Squad''.
* TheBusCameBack: After a seven year absence, Daroach returns in ''VideoGame/KirbyStarAllies'' as a playable Dream Friend. He can also summon Spinni, Doc and Storo to attack enemies.
* TheCameo: They appear as stickers in ''Planet Robobot''. Daroach also appears as one of Whip Kirby's unlockable costumes in ''Battle Royale''.
* CaperCrew: Daroach is the boss, Doc is the tech guy, Spinni is the ninja-like speed and stealth expert, and Storo is the muscle.
* CoolAirship: In ''Mass Attack'', they're shown to have an airship as their base.
* CriminalFoundFamily: The Squeaks may be a gang of thieves, but Daroach says he considers them [[TrueCompanions like family]], and they are never seen apart.
* DubNameChange: Dorocche to Daroach, Spin to Spinni, Stron to Storo, and Churin to Squeakers. The name of their group also translates to "Dorocche Gang", which is why the Squeaks are sometimes called the [[TeamTitle Squeak Squad]].
* GangOfHats: They're an all-rodent gang and they all wear red.
* HeelFaceTurn: They stop antagonizing Kirby at the end of ''Squeak Squad'', and they help Kirby out in ''VideoGame/KirbyMassAttack'' and ''VideoGame/KirbyStarAllies''.
* HiddenDepths: If you talk to him long enough in ''Kirby Mass Attack'', Daroach will eventually tell you things about himself and his cohorts. To wit:
** Doc is a GadgeteerGenius who loves inventing things and built the Squeaks' airship.
** Spinni is a treasure hunter, but is currently taking a break from the profession.
** Storo is actually a GentleGiant who enjoys brushing his teeth.
** The Squeakers work as Daroach's field agents.
** King Dedede later reveals [[https://twitter.com/Kirby_JP/status/1397387101625221124 on Twitter]] that Daroach has dry skin and [[DoesNotLikeSpam hates the taste of tomatoes]].
* InexplicablyTailless: They're all mice or mouse-like creatures, yet nobody has more than a little stub of a tail; Daroach and Storo are completely tailless.
* LovableRogue: While Daroach and the rest of the Squeaks are a gang of unrepentant pirates and thieves, they [[HeelFaceTurn aid Kirby]] throughout ''Mass Attack'' and ''Star Allies'' and are so cute and charming that you'll forget they were ever villains in ''Squeak Squad''.
* MrExposition: Not originally, but Daroach becomes this in ''VideoGame/KirbyMassAttack,'' offering advice and enemy names, as well as backstory for the islands and the Skull Gang, if you talk to him on his ship. He'll also ask Kirby to get the levels' medals.
* NiceMice: Inverted in their debut as thieves and bandits. Played straight in ''Mass Attack'' with regards to Daroach, who shows concern for Kirby's well-being and offers words of encouragement.
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: Even when they're on Kirby's side, they generally don't care about saving the universe like he does, instead only eyeing the treasure that awaits them. That said, they are pretty upfront about their motivation and genuinely kind to him otherwise.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Greedy pirates that they are, the Squeaks only care about accruing as much treasure as they can, regardless of whether they're on the side of good or evil. In ''Star Allies'', the Squeaks are there to help mainly to get their paws on "precious" Jamba Hearts; in ''Mass Attack'', Daroach primarily desires [[CollectionSidequest medals]] and only wants the Kirbies to stop [[TheNightThatNeverEnds Necrodeus' plan]] because, in a world of eternal darkness, the Squeaks' treasure wouldn't be able to sparkle.
* RecurringBoss: Spinni, Storo, and Doc appear frequently in stages to try and steal treasure from Kirby.
* RodentsOfUnusualSize: Daroach is pretty big, but Storo dwarfs Dedede.
* SignatureHeadgear: Daroach sports a pretty stylish red hat. It's almost an EyeObscuringHat, but not quite.
* SuperPersistentPredator: The minute Kirby touches a large treasure chest in ''Squeak Squad'', a Squeak MiniBoss and an army of Squeakers will chase Kirby all the way to the end of the stage in hot pursuit. Considering [[RecurringBoss how often they show up]], they can only be considered this.

At over 300 distinct lines of dialogue, Daroach actually delivers more dialogue than any other character ''in the entire series.'' That's excluding the notes he wrote in the instruction manual.
* ThrowDownTheBomblet: Daroach, Doc and the Squeakers can throw bombs. In ''Star Allies'' [[spoiler:and as Dark Daroach]], Daroach can also throw a larger bomb that creates a [[PlayingWithFire pillar of fire]].
* YouDirtyRat: In their debut game, they're a band of thieving, villainous mice. {{Averted}} in the ending and in later games, where they're helpful to Kirby.

--> --'''Daroach'''

Daroach is the leader of the the Squeaks.
----
* AffablyEvil: An unabashed treasure-hunting thief and [[CardCarryingVillain self-proclaimed pirate]], yes, but even in ''Squeak Squad'', when his whole gang is battling against Kirby on his orders, he's still personable enough to [[spoiler:replace Kirby's missing strawberry shortcake at the end of the game]].
* AstralFinale: [[spoiler:Dark Daroach]], as the [[spoiler:penultimate]] boss, is fought at the end of Gamble Galaxy.
* BadassCape: Daroach wears one. No, the cute little bell does not diminish the effect; why do you ask?
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Daroach in ''Mass Attack'' would sometimes say that "the UsefulNotes/Nintendo3DS is worth its weight in gold", or suggest that you should charge your DS if its power indicator light turns red.
* TheCasanova: In ''Mass Attack'', Daroach mentions having a history of stealing the hearts of ladies.
* CompositeCharacter: Daroach in ''Star Allies'' actually represents the Squeaks as a whole; he can [[SummonMagic summon all]] of his teammates [[AssistCharacter as attacks]]. His moveset also includes attacks from his boss fight, the Animal ability, and the Smack-In-The-Box homages both ''Squeak Squad'''s Magic ability and [[SealedEvilInACan the chest containing Dark Nebula]].
* DemonicPossession: Daroach gets possessed by [[spoiler:Dark Nebula]] when he [[spoiler:opens a mysterious chest, turning him into Dark Daroach. He turns back normal after [[BeatTheCurseOutOfHim Kirby beats him]].]]
* DoesNotLikeSpam: According to the 11th Nintendo Switch News Channel message for ''Star Allies'', Daroach hates tomatoes. [[GameplayAndStorySegregation He has no reaction to eating tomatoes in-game, though]].
* EvilOverlooker: In [[https://cdn.wikirby.com/e/e0/KSqS_Dark_Clouds_Group_Artwork.png some promotional art]] for ''Squeak Squad'', he can be seen in the background, peering menacingly out from behind a cloud.
* FanOfUnderdog: In ''Mass Attack'', Daroach claims to be one and that it's the reason he's helping Kirby.
* FloatingLimbs: Daroach has these, although curiously, the other Squeaks do not.
* FurryReminder: In ''Star Allies'', one of Daroach's idle animations has him twitch his ears like a real mouse.
* GentlemanThief: Complete with a top hat and a thirst for treasure chests. He lampshades this in some of his hints in ''Mass Attack''.
* HeKnowsAboutTimedHits: In ''Kirby Mass Attack'', he will helpfully tell you how to press "Start" to pause the game.

* JustLikeRobinHood: {{Implied|Trope}}. In the Japanese ''Hoshi no Kirby: Character Daizukan'', it says that his favorite phrase is "help the weak, and crush the strong".

* UnwittingPawn: Through greed and ambition, Daroach ends up a victim of [[spoiler:Dark Nebula.]]
* WolverineClaws: Has long sharp claws that he can use for close range attacks in ''Star Allies''. They're very similar to the attacks Animal Kirby had in ''Squeak Squad''.
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: Daroach has these, just to further drive home he's a sneaky little crime lord. It's unknown if the rest of the Squeaks share this trait, as all of them have their [[HiddenEyes eyes obscured]] in one way or another.

In ''Triple Deluxe,'' [[spoiler:his rage leaks out of the Dimension Mirror and corrupts Queen Sectonia, turning her into a corrupt despot with a desire for godhood]]. And in ''Star Allies,'' the only reason for helping Kirby is that he is drawn to the power of the Dark Hearts and wants their powers for himself.

* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: Soul of Sectonia is one for [[VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand Magolor Soul]]. Both are {{Empty Shell}}s of the BigBad (Magolor/Sectonia) after they have been heavily corrupted by golden artifacts (the Master Crown and the Dimension Mirror) which contain evil inside of them (the [[spoiler:Master Crown]] is [[LivingHat sentient]], while Dark Meta Knight was still trapped in the Dimension Mirror), who are left to beg for Kirby to stop them as the fight goes on. However, Magolor Soul is Magolor's lifeless body controlled by the evil of the Master Crown who, [[NonIndicativeName despite his name]], doesn't use any Soul-related attacks, while Soul of Sectonia is Queen Sectonia's vengeful, undead soul brought back by a desire to kill Kirby who almost exclusively uses Soul attacks during her second phase. Their appearances are also very similar, being monstrous creatures that consist of only a head with wings (Magolor's wings are from the Master Crown, while Sectonia's wings are naturally hers), jagged crowns, [[HornsOfVillainy horns that curve downward]] (or in Sectonia's case, antennas), and [[RedEyesTakeWarning red eyes]] (Magolor Soul has a red eye in his mouth, while Sectonia has red eyes). The ''Deluxe'' remake takes it one step further [[spoiler:by giving Magolor Soul a new second phase in the True Arena which sees him going insane just like Sectonia (this time, from the Master Crown [[SoulEating eating his soul]]) and having a new pause description written from his P.O.V just like with Soul of Sectonia in the Japanese version which expresses [[AndIMustScream his pain and suffering]]]].
* CoolCrown: She wears a golden and blue crown with a pink heart-shaped gem on it. It looks more menacing as Soul of Sectonia, with spikier and more jagged edges and a black heart gem.

* FunWithAcronyms: {{Played for Drama}}. While she's called Sectonia Soul in the original Japanese version, the international versions call her Soul of Sectonia. While very dfferent for stepping away from the ThemeNaming of every other Soul boss (sans [[spoiler:[[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheForgottenLand Soul Forgo]]]]), her name can be abbreviated as S.O.S., which is usually a call for help. And what is Soul of Sectonia doing during her fight? Calling out to Kirby to [[MercyKill put an end to her misery once and for all]].
