Cementing him as this is their implied connection to Dark Matter, usage of elemental powers (one of the main gimmicks of ''Star Allies'' is elemental abilities), a powerful VacuumMouth, and even Void's core resembling ''Kirby himself.''

* ATwinkleInTheSky: This happens to both Francisca and Flamberge when you defeat them for the second time.

* TheUnpronounceable: At least in-universe, it's noted that Hyness can't remember how Zan Partizanne's name is pronounced.

* WaterGunsAndBalloons: Francisca's other weapon is a water gun designed to resemble a soda bottle. Just like any soda bottle, she shakes it before firing a stream of water.
* WaterIsWomanly: While mainly AnIcePerson, Francisca is also associated with water through her watery-blue hair and soda gun, and fittingly her personality has a more gentle, feminine touch to it, complete with polite speech in Japanese and {{giggling|Villain}}, unlike the more aggressive attitudes of Zan Partizanne and Flamberge. However, this is actually a FauxAffablyEvil persona, with her being a SoftSpokenSadist who engages in [[CollectorOfTheStrange collecting people she freezes alive]] and threatens Kirby in a very calm and polite tone.

* WeaksauceWeakness: Aside from the LogicalWeakness they have, Flamberge and Zan Partizanne are apparently also weak to Artist's brush attacks. The paint might've been watercolor.

* WickedHeartSymbol: Their cult symbol is an outline of a heart with wings and horns, and an eye in the middle. They also have hearts dangling on chains on their outfit, and outlines of hearts on their gloves.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: [[spoiler:This applies to all of them, but one bit of info worth noting was that Zan in particular was scaling a tower in a lightning storm in desperation (the Japanese, Chinese and Korean texts say she climbed the tower in an attempt to ''kill herself'') before Hyness saved her.]]
* YouAreFat: Flamberge and Zan Partizanne are fond of calling Kirby "[[CatchphraseInsult zunguri pinku]]" (roughly "tubby pink thing") in the Japanese version. In English this is adapted into FloweryInsults like "tiny ball of puffy pink mischief".

* ButtMonkey: It's a running gag throughout ''Star Allies'' that [[TheUnpronounceable no one can remember Zan Partizanne's name]]. In the Japanese version, even the pause screen narrator screws it up once.
* CollectorOfTheStrange: In her second encounter, Francisca implies that she collects things (which include living beings) by [[HumanPopsicle freezing them in a block of ice]].
* DeadlyLunge: Francisca's DashAttack is her doing a lunging strike with her axe.
* DeathFromAbove: Francisca can scatter ice crystals from above, and Zan Partizanne can create a mini lightning cloud that shoots out lightning from above.
* TheDragon: Out of the three of them, Zan's the leader, is fiercely loyal to their master, Lord Hyness, and is the last obstacle Kirby and his squad have to face in order to stop him.
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler:According to Soul Melter EX, Zan Partizanne once climbed a high tower only to be struck by lightning. The English localization omits that she did so after "losing everything", which heavily implies that she was trying to [[SmiteMeOMightySmiter kill herself this way]].]]
* EvilLaugh: Zan lets out a truly impressive one [[spoiler:as she prepares to [[CollapsingLair bring the entire Jambastion crashing down]] on Kirby's head]].
* FieryRedhead: Flamberge has power over fire and suitably has the hair color and temper to match.
* FormalCharactersUseKeigo: Francisca's dialogue in the Japanese version never slips out of formal Japanese, [[SoftSpokenSadist even as she's threatening to freeze Kirby into a block of ice]].
* GigglingVillain: Francisca giggles quite a bit, particularly when using her Soda Gun. It fits her as the most girlish of the three.
* HadesShaded: Flamberge has both red hair and tan complexion.
* HairTriggerTemper: It's pretty easy to make Flamberge mad, especially if [[BerserkButton it involves Francisca's well-being]].
* HeterosexualLifePartners: They all deeply care about one another. In particular, Flamberge is ''very'' protective of Francisca and gets ''very'' upset if she is hurt... although with [[PseudoRomanticFriendship those two]], [[AmbiguouslyGay the "heterosexual" part is debatable]].
* HotBlooded: Flamberge, fittingly enough, is easily angered.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Flamberge has a move where she tries to SwordPlant onto your friends, one by one; if they get hit, they'll get skewered with the sword like shish kebab before she swings her sword to throw them at you.
* InterruptedSuicide: Some flavor text in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions heavily imply that [[spoiler:Zan Partizanne climbed a tower in the middle of a thunder storm so she could be [[SmiteMeOMightySmiter struck by lightning]] and die, but Hyness revived her and gave her new purpose.]]
* InstrumentOfMurder: Zan Partizanne's other weapon is [[ThunderDrum a trio of drums that fire orbs of electricity]].
* {{Jerkass}}: Zan is quite rude on the Internet. [[https://mobile.twitter.com/Kirby_JP/status/1015060355213475840 In this tweet]], she makes fun of Adeleine for having a big forehead, and she calls Ribbon a "juvenile fairy". In-game, [[spoiler:Zan [[SoreLoser responds]] to her first defeat by [[CollapsingLair trying to bring the whole fortress down on Kirby's head]] and [[KnowWhenToFoldEm absconding]] with the Jamba Heart piece.]]
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: [[spoiler:After defeating Zan Partizanne the first time at Jambastion, she takes the Jamba Heart piece and [[SoreLoser decides to have the last laugh]] by having the fortress collapse on Kirby and the heroes.]]
* LoadBearingBoss: [[spoiler:Zan Partizanne's first defeat has her shatter Jambastion's core, causing the entire fortress to start falling apart around Kirby and his friends.]]
* LostInTranslation: It's a RunningGag that Zan Partizanne's name is supposed to be [[TheUnpronounceable really hard to pronounce]], even though in English it's a simple enough RepetitiveName. In Japanese, though, it takes up a full [[OverlyLongName eleven characters]] (counting the space), and is spelled somewhat strangely (ザン・パルルティザーヌ, or ''Zan Parurutizānu'' -- think "Zan Parulutizahne" instead of ザン・パルチザン ''Zan Paruchizan''/"Zan Partizan").
* TheNicknamer: Zan Partizanne has a habit of giving nicknames to people, referring to Flamberge and Francisca as "Berge" and "Franny," respectively, and calling Kirby various insults like "tiny ball of pink puffy mischief" and "stubby pink ball." On the franchise's Japanese social media accounts, she also gives nicknames to the Dream Friends, such as calling Gooey "Astonishing Lad" and Magolor "Crafty Egg" (Magolor responds by calling her "Parmesan Cheese").
* PaintingTheMedium: Flamberge, being HotBlooded and [[NoIndoorVoice prone to yelling]], gets some lines of dialogue with text that's way bigger than the standard size.
* PardonMyKlingon: Both Flamberge and Zan Partizanne ([[HotBlooded mostly Flamberge]]) use the Jambandran curse word "Jamaddamn", or "Jamblasted" [[{{Bowdlerise}} in English]]. In ''Heroes in Another Dimension'', Flamberge adds an intensifier to it ("un jamaddamn"/"vun jamblasted") to make it a stronger swear.
* PersonalityPowers: Flamberge is a mage with power over fire and has a temper to match.
* PrecisionFStrike: The internal filename for Flamberge's animation for when she gets angry reads as "God Damn It".
* PsychoElectro: Zan Partizanne is the most fanatical of the three, which is complemented by her lightning powers. [[spoiler:She's also callous enough to ''[[CollapsingLair blow up her own fortress]]'' after Kirby defeats her, and her pause screen in Soul Melter EX heavily implies she was [[DrivenToSuicide unstable and suicidal]] even before she joined Hyness's ApocalypseCult.]]
* RedIsViolent: Flamberge's main color is red, and she gets quite furious when someone hurts Francisca.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Zan Partizanne has some impressive words for Kirby when she first meets him.
--> '''Zan:''' ''At first I thought you to be just a simpleton with a knack for annoyance. Hmph! Now it is clear you are an interfering interloper!''
* SoftSpokenSadist: Francisca speaks very calmly and politely as she threatens to "put Kirby on ice, forever". It's slightly more present in Japanese, which has her slip in a line not wanting to make pointless negotiations — but the word used for "negotiate", ''sesshou'', [[DeadlyEuphemism can also mean]] "kill" depending on the kanji used.
* SoreLoser: [[spoiler:The first time Zan Partizanne is defeated, she stabs clean through the Jambastion's energy core, an action that [[CollapsingLair causes the entire Jambastion to collapse]], so she can [[TakingYouWithMe get the last laugh]]. [[LaughingMad Literally]].]]
* SpamAttack: Zan Partizanne can perform her standing spear combo over and over.
* SuperSpeed: Being a mage of lightning, Zan Partizanne moves faster than her colleagues. You can also utilize her lightning warps as a Dream Friend.
* SwordBeam: In a variant, Flamberge can shoot out a SpreadShot of {{Fireballs}} by swinging her sword.
* SwordDrag: Francisca has a move where she drags her axe across the floor before she swings it up. It'll leave harmful ice patches on the floor. Flamberge has a similar move that leaves the ground in flames instead.
* SwordPlant: Zan Partizanne has a move where she stabs from above with her spear.
* ThereIsAGod: Before her second battle with the heroes, Flamberge remarks (at least in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions) that the fact that she's getting the chance to fight them again must be a reward from God for her daily prayers.
* ThisCannotBe: Zan Partizanne's reaction to being defeated for the first time leaves her in disbelief wondering how she could have encountered such strong resistance on Popstar, which she considers measly and remote.
-->'''Zan Partizanne''': Ugh... Jam...blasted... Bah! How could there be such opposition on a measly and remote planet like this?!
* ThisIsUnforgivable: The first time Kirby fights Flamberge, she says this to him. Considering the fact that he beat up Francisca badly before meeting her, you could tell she has every reason to want to burn Kirby to a crisp.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks:
** Flamberge can create [[SpectralWeaponCopy copies of her sword]] and hurl them at the heroes.
** Francisca can enlarge her axe and toss it at her opponent, which can [[PinballProjectile bounce off surfaces]] capturing them if it hits.
* TomboyishVoice: Flamberge's voice is the highest and raspiest of the three. Also a case of tomboyish dialogue, particularly in Japanese, where Francisca [[FormalCharactersUseKeigo speaks in keigo]] and Zan speaks directly, though not nearly as casually.

* RecurringElement: Like the Halcandran and Sectra variants of regular enemies in ''VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand'' and ''VideoGame/KirbyTripleDeluxe'', the Jambelievers are functionally identical to the Waddle Dees, but appear later in the game and serve the BigBad.
* ShadowedFaceGlowingEyes: Both variants are clad in large turbans and cover their faces, so all Kirby can see of them are the YellowEyesOfSneakiness beneath. It's a feature they share with their HighPriest, Hyness.
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: They all possess big yellow eyes, and it doesn't get much shadier than following an ApocalypseCult. Jammerjabs [[SubvertedTrope subvert]] the "sneakiness" part, however, as Kirby can [[DefeatMeansFriendship befriend them]] and have them join the party.

* AerithAndBob: Francisca is a normal name that's also shared with a throwing axe type, Flamberge is a rather exotic name normally only used for a type of medieval sword, and Zan Partizanne is an utterly bizarre made-up name that at best references the Partisan spear.
* AmazonBrigade: They're Hyness' generals, and they're all female.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Flamberge has a noticeably darker skin tone than Francisca and Zan Partizanne.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Flamberge and Francisca are shown to be incredibly close to each other and constantly reference each other in a somewhat romantic fashion in their pause texts (particularly Flamberge's). That said, due to the two being AmbiguouslyRelated and there being no direct confirmation, it's unclear if their relationship is actually romantic or familial in nature.
* AmbiguouslyRelated: Hyness' pause description says that the three are sisters; however, the English loanword as used in Japanese is more often used for nuns (i.e. sisterhood), and the word is not used in all other languages that lose the double meaning. Note that Hyness is called an "Officiant". [[WordOfGod A post]] on the Nintendo Switch ''Kirby Star Allies'' channel brings up both possible meanings of "sister" and [[ShrugOfGod does not say which one is correct]].

** [[FlipFlopOfGod However]], [[https://play.nintendo.com/activities/polls/funny-nintendo-families-poll/ a Play Nintendo poll]] interprets "Francisca and her sisters" as a set of siblings, so there is at least some official evidence that they are an actual family. Unless they were the unluckiest sisters in the world in three completely different locations, it seems that the sisters are at least not blood relatives.]]
* ArmsAndArmorThemeNaming: All three of them are [[MeaningfulName named after weapons that they use]]. Francisca is named after a type of throwing axe, Flamberge is named after a type of sword, and Zan Partizanne is named after a Partisan spear.
* BadassAdorable: A trio of cute-looking nuns... who are also [[MagicKnight powerful warriors]] harboring what Hyness calls "the strongest of magic".
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The brief backstory for them (shown in Soul Melter EX) show that [[spoiler:they were at the brink of death in separate places before a "mysterious traveler" (hinted to be Hyness) saved them]], which explains their loyalty to their boss.
* {{BFG}}: Flamberge's other weapon is a large cannon that can shoot out a stream of flame.
* {{BFS}}: Flamberge's main weapon is a large FlamingSword.
* BladeSpam: Both Flamberge and Zan Partizanne have moves where they stab multiple times with their sword/spear respectively.
* BlueIsHeroic: Francisca, who wears blue, makes a HeelFaceTurn at the end of ''Heroes in Another Dimension.''
* BossSubtitles:
** Francisca: Frozen General, Bringer of Icy Doom.
** Flamberge: Blazing General, Bringer of Flame.
** Zan Partizanne: Lightning General, Bringer of Shock.
** [[spoiler:The Three Mage Sisters: Repentant Retaliators.]]
* BreakableWeapons: Francisca's soda gun, Flamberge's cannon, and Zan Partizanne's drums can all be broken, stunning them and leaving them open for more hits.
* ButtMonkey: It's a running gag throughout ''Star Allies'' that [[TheUnpronounceable no one can remember Zan Partizanne's name]]. In the Japanese version, even the pause screen narrator screws it up once.
* TheCameo:
** The trio appear together as a spirit in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate''.
** All three appear as residents of the village in ''Super Kirby Clash''. Each one also appears as a collectible sticker.
** All three appear on the Jambastion Entrance stage in ''Kirby Fighters 2'' as stage hazards, as well as appearing as rare outfits only unlockable if the player has OldSaveBonus from playing ''Star Allies''.
** All three of the mages appear as Dress-Up Masks in ''Return to Dream Land Deluxe'', both in their regular and "Retaliator" appearances.
* CollectorOfTheStrange: In her second encounter, Francisca implies that she collects things (which include living beings) by [[HumanPopsicle freezing them in a block of ice]].
* ColorCodedElements: The [[ElementalHairColors colors of their hair]] and outfits match their respective elements.
* CorruptedCharacterCopy: [[spoiler:Their backstory harkens back to the Legendary Beasts of ''VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver'': similar to the Beasts, all three sisters died and were [[CameBackStrong revived and empowered]] with the elements of FireIceLightning, which happen to correspond to the events that lead to them originally dying. * DeathByIrony: [[spoiler: All three Mage-Sisters were once saved from death by the very elements they now control. [[AnIcePerson Francisca]] nearly [[KillItWithIce froze to death]], [[PlayingWithFire Flamberge]] nearly died in an [[KillItWithFire inferno]], and [[ShockAndAwe Zan]] nearly [[DrivenToSuicide killed herself]] by getting struck by lightning.]]
* DragonTheirFeet: [[spoiler:In ''Heroes in Another Dimension'', you fight the three of them simultaneously after you beat Hyness first. This trope probably counts most for Zan, considering she is TheDragon to Hyness.]]
* TheDogBitesBack: [[spoiler:In the Japanese version of ''Heroes in Another Dimension'', it's implied that the three of them went into Another Dimension to settle a score with Hyness, most likely because he [[GrievousHarmWithABody used them like weapons]] and then [[HumanSacrifice sacrificed them to Void Termina against their will]] during the main story.]]
-->'''Zan:''' キッス、ルージュよ、あんずるでない。今こそ ハイネス様へ、われわれがごおんを返す 番なのだ。[[labelnote:Translation]]Kiss, Rouge, have no fear. Now is our turn to [[DeadlyEuphemism return the favor]] to Lord Hyness.[[/labelnote]]
* DualBoss: In the special game mode (after an update) ''Heroes in Another Dimension'', the three of them are fought at once as bosses.
* DubNameChange: Francisca, Flamberge, and Zan Partizanne were originally Fran Kiss (フラン・キッス), Fran Rouge (フラン・ルージュ), and Zan Parulutizahne (ザン・パルルティザーヌ) in Japanese.
* ElementalHairColors: Their hair colors match their ColorCodedElements and clothes (yellow for the zappy Zan Partizanne, red for the fiery Flamberge, and blue for the frosty Francisca.) Likely a case of PowerDyesYourHair, as [[spoiler:the Japanese version of each Mage-Sister's Soul Melter EX FlavorText says that they "became a beautiful blue/red/gold girl", respectively, after Hyness granted them magic.]]
* ElementalWeapon: All of their weapons are imbued with the power of their corresponding element.
* FinalBoss: [[spoiler:After Kirby defeats Corrupt Hyness, the (also-Corrupt) Mage Sisters team up and fight you as a trio at the end of ''Heroes in Another Dimension''.]]
* FireIceLightning: Each one holds power over one of these elements. Flamberge is the Flame General, Francisca is the Ice General, and Zan Partizanne is the Lightning General.
* FloatingLimbs: None of them have arms.
* FormalCharactersUseKeigo: Francisca's dialogue in the Japanese version never slips out of formal Japanese, [[SoftSpokenSadist even as she's threatening to freeze Kirby into a block of ice]].
* FromNobodyToNightmare: [[spoiler:Three of the most powerful sorceresses in the universe were once nothing more than three young girls brought to within an inch of their lives within their harsh elemental environments before Hyness found them.]]
* GigglingVillain: Francisca giggles quite a bit, particularly when using her Soda Gun. It fits her as the most girlish of the three.
* GrievousHarmWithABody: [[spoiler:They all suffer this in the second phase of Hyness' fight when he summons them, drains their life force to replenish his own health, and uses their unconscious bodies as weapons.]]
* HumanSacrifice: [[spoiler:Hyness sacrifices them and himself to revive Void Termina.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: The "Song of Supplication" for Francisca and Flamberge, "Forgotten Flash of Lightning" for Zan Partizanne.
* LoadBearingBoss: [[spoiler:Zan Partizanne's first defeat has her shatter Jambastion's core, causing the entire fortress to start falling apart around Kirby and his friends.]]
* LogicalWeakness: They all follow the rule of ElementalRockPaperScissors:
** Francisca, a mage with power over ice, is vulnerable to fire and electricity. In particular, if you attack with electric abilities while she's using her soda gun attack, the electricity will conduct through the water and electrocute her, stunning her for free hits.
** Flamberge, a mage with power over fire, is vulnerable to wind and water. If you put out the fuse on her cannon before she fires it, the cannon will blow itself up, stunning her.
** Zan Partizanne, a mage with power over lightning, is vulnerable to water. Conducting water through her drums makes them overheat and explode, stunning her.
* MagicKnight: They're more "mage" than "knight", but they're all capable of melee combat with their primary weapons.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: The good ending of ''Heroes in Another Dimension'' has [[spoiler:Kirby revive the fallen Mages with the power of the collected hearts. When they come to, they glance around and notice what the Jamba Heart's corruption has done to the world around them, Hyness, and finally themselves. They take a moment to sadly realize the consequences before reconciling with Kirby.]]
* NoMouth: Their mouths seem to be covered by their collars.
* NunTooHoly: ''All of them'', to some degree. Francisca [[CollectorOfTheStrange freezes and collects living creatures]], Flamberge has a HairTriggerTemper, and Zan Partizanne [[spoiler:will gladly [[CollapsingLair cause a planet-sized Jambastion to crumble]] with little visible regard for all the {{Mook}}s this would put in danger after [[SoreLoser losing to Kirby]].]]
* OddNameOut: '''F'''rancisca, '''F'''lamberge, and... Zan Partizanne.
* PaintingTheMedium: Flamberge, being HotBlooded and [[NoIndoorVoice prone to yelling]], gets some lines of dialogue with text that's way bigger than the standard size.
* PaletteSwap: Like many other bosses in Heroes in Another Dimension, they sport different color schemes; their black outfit is now white, for one.
* PowerDyesYourHair: It's implied in the original Japanese version that [[spoiler:getting their natural magical talent [[SuperEmpowering unlocked]]]] is the reason behind their brightly colored hair.
* PowerFloats: All of them mainly float in midair due to lacking any visible legs.
* PrecisionFStrike: The internal filename for Flamberge's animation for when she gets angry reads as "God Damn It".
* PromotedToPlayable: They become playable in the third Dream Friends update. But unlike them, they can only be unlocked by getting the good ending of ''Heroes in Another Dimension.''
* RecurringBoss: They're all fought twice: once in Jambastion, and once more on different planets. They're also fought at the end of ''Heroes in Another Dimension''.
* RecurringBossTemplate: While they all appear in the same game, each Mage-Sister's boss fight uses variations on the same couple of moves - basic melee, DashAttack, [[SpellBlade elemental weapon attack]], and elemental WaveMotionGun.
* RedemptionDemotion: Averted once Kirby finally befriends them and makes them playable. They each have their special attacks in their kit, which hit just as hard, if not more, than when they were being used against you. In fact, they're even ''stronger'' playable, as they have added invincibility frames to their special attacks, decreased startup, no elemental weaknesses, and even have a new reusable SmartBomb move in their moveset.
* RedIsViolent: Flamberge's main color is red, and she gets quite furious when someone hurts Francisca.
* RollingAttack: As Dream Friends, they have Sister Circle as their collective move, modeled after Friend Circle. When they activate it, the screen freezes and they make a circle formation before rolling around and pinballing off the screen.
* SiblingTeam: Possibly, if they [[AmbiguouslyRelated really are sisters]].
* {{Slapstick}}: During their second boss fights, Francisca and Flamberge get [[TwinkleInTheSky launched into space]]. [[spoiler:During Hyness's boss fight, after draining their life forces, [[GrievousHarmWithABody he uses all three mage sisters' bodies as bludgeons]]. As Dream Friends, they can suffer the same AmusingInjuries as Kirby and the other Dream Friends, such as HarmlessFreezing and being SquashedFlat.]]
* SummonToHand: They're all capable of manifesting their weapons out of nowhere.
* TagTeam: In the battle against them at the end of ''Heroes in Another Dimension'', they'll switch between each other, with two of them at most at the screen and the rest in the background. As playable Dream Friends, you can manually switch between the three by pressing Down+Attack; the switched-in sister will [[DynamicEntry perform an attack]] during such.
* ThemeNaming: In Japanese, Francisca and Flamberge are known as "Fran Kiss" and "Fran Rouge", making their names themed around lips. Zan's the OddNameOut and does not fit this theme.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks:
* TownGirls: Francisa is femme, Flamberge is butch, and Zan Partizanne is neither.
* TragicVillain: [[spoiler:All three of them were once normal young girls on the brink of death and exposed to the dangerous elements around them (Lightning for Zan, Fire for Flamberge and Ice for Francisca) before Hyness saved each of them on their last breaths by granting them the power to control the elements that were once killing them. Since then, they have followed him to the ends of the universe out of owing him their lives, even when insanity eventually overtook him and he started becoming more and more abusive.]]
* ATwinkleInTheSky: This happens to both Francisca and Flamberge when you defeat them for the second time.
* UndyingLoyalty: All three mages will defend Hyness to the bitter end, despite his obvious insanity; Zan Partizanne shows it more than the others. [[spoiler:Soul Melter EX reveals that this is because he saved each of their lives when they were on the brink of death, giving them new purpose and awakening their magical abilities.]] At least in the Japanese version, however, [[SubvertedTrope this has its limits]] [[spoiler:and it's even implied that they only showed up in Another Dimension in the first place so they could [[TheDogBitesBack repay Hyness for his terrible treatment of them in the main story]].]]
* UnlockableContent: As Dream Friends, they're the only one(s) that have to be unlocked (by completing ''Heroes in Another Dimension''), as opposed to being usable (either with Dream Rod, or in Ultimate Choice) from the start.
* TheUnpronounceable: At least in-universe, it's noted that Hyness can't remember how Zan Partizanne's name is pronounced.
* VerbalTic: They tend to use "jam" when speaking. It's apparently part of their [[{{Conlang}} alien language]], as Hyness' pause description in Ultimate Choice shows.
* VillainSong: The ''Song of Supplication'' ("Prayer Song to God" in the Japanese version), Francisca and Flamberge's battle theme, is the Mage-Sisters' theme. Though they are never sung aloud, the song has actual lyrics, which are provided in battles against each Mage-Sister in the Ultimate Choice.
* WaveMotionGun:
** By combining her drums with her spear, Zan Partizanne can fire a beam of lightning.
** Flamberge can fire a large stream of flame from her cannon.
** Francisca, with her soda gun, can fire a ReflectingLaser of water.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Aside from the LogicalWeakness they have, Flamberge and Zan Partizanne are apparently also weak to Artist's brush attacks. The paint might've been watercolor.
* WeMeetAgain: In their second encounters, each points out how they don't expect to meet Kirby again. Granted, [[spoiler:Zan ''did'' try to kill Kirby by [[CollapsingLair collapsing the whole Jambastion with him inside]], so it's more a case of NoOneCouldSurviveThat]]
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: [[spoiler:It was unclear what happened to them at the initial end of the game. Hyness sacrifices them and himself to revive Void Termina, but during the fight with Void Termina's core, the heroes manage to free the four of them. Ultimately subverted in the [[AllThereInTheManual official Twitter]] and in the mode "Heroes in Another Dimension", where it's revealed that they survived the encounter and began plotting to enter Another Dimension in search of another vessel of Void's]].

->''"You see it now, don't you? Anyone who interrupts our revival ceremony... We must kindly ask that they... PLEASE DISAPPEAR FOREVER!"''

The BigBad of ''Star Allies''. He is the insane leader of the cult of the Jamba Heart, a cult that worships a being he calls "the Dark Lord". He sought to revive him using the power of the Jamba Heart, but something went wrong with the ritual and pieces of the Jamba Heart scattered throughout the galaxy, some landing on Planet Popstar.
-----
* AlasPoorVillain: While he is mostly [[HateSink utterly detestable]], [[spoiler:''Heroes in Another Dimension'' has Francisca expressing some pity for him as Corrupt Hyness, lamenting that he's a far cry from his old self.]]
* AllYourPowersCombined: He can use the elements of the three Mage Sisters along with his own attacks.
* AmbiguouslyRelated: It's implied that he is related to [[spoiler:the Ancients of Halcandra]] in some way, shown with his appearance and his ties to certain artifacts. [[spoiler:He has pointy "ears" similar to the ones on Magolor's hood, the Master Crown features in one of Void Termina's attacks, and one of the words in his language is "Lor", which the Lor Starcutter's name is derived from. This is muddied somewhat in ''Return To Dreamland: Deluxe'' where it's revealed that Magolor isn't a native Halcandran]].
* {{Angrish}}: He launches into this when you knock his hood off, likely yelling out all sorts of [[PardonMyKlingon alien profanities.]]
-->'''Hyness:''' Juh? JUH... JUH! ''JUHYAMBAVITRIGOKOPOKOJAAAH!!''
* AngryDance: [[spoiler:When Hyness's hood gets knocked off, he flies into a rage and makes a series of bizarre, dance-like motions before replenishing his health [[LifeDrain using the Mage-Sisters]] and starting the second phase of the battle.]]
* ApocalypseCult: He functions as the HighPriest of one of these.
* ApocalypseHow: Considering he wants to eliminate everything in the universe [[spoiler:with the dark god Void Termina]], he classifies as a Class X-4. [[spoiler:This could've eventually escalated into Class Z as well, given the revelation of Void's omniversal nature in Soul Melter EX.]]
* AstralFinale: The place where you fight him (the Divine Terminus) is located at the edge of the universe.
* AxCrazy: Hyness seems calm and composed at first, but it only takes a few seconds to see that this guy is clearly not right in the head, [[spoiler:''[[BerserkButton especially]]'' when his hood is knocked off]]. [[spoiler:It's later {{deconstructed|Trope}} with the revelations in the ''Heroes in Another Dimension'' update, which show that he wasn't always crazy and even seems to have [[ReluctantPsycho recognized]] he was losing it.]]
* BadassPreacher: He may be evil, but he's one of the toughest bosses in the game, and [[ThatOneBoss by far]] the most difficult boss in the main story.
* BadBoss: Hyness doesn't care one bit about his generals. He slaps Zan out of the way as he approaches Kirby's team, and doesn't even have the decency to remember her name. [[spoiler:That's not even mentioning the whole "draining his generals' life energy, using their unconscious bodies as weapons, and later sacrificing them" deal. It turns out that this wasn't always the case, as he used to care dearly for the generals but became single-minded over time, possibly because of his banishment and/or gradual corruption from the Jamba Heart.]]
* BeatThemAtTheirOwnGame: [[spoiler:The second phase of the fight has him and the generals using Kirby's Friend Abilities against him. The difference is that while Kirby's Friends are conscious and willing, the three generals are entirely controlled by Hyness without any (visible) consent.]]
* BerserkButton: Hyness' pause descriptions mention that he has a complex regarding his face. [[spoiler:Sure enough, knock off his hood and [[SanitySlippage he loses it completely.]]]]
* BigBad: Of ''Star Allies'', seeking to [[spoiler:revive an incarnation of his god, [[GreaterScopeVillain Void Termina]], and destroy the universe.]]
* BossSubtitles:
** "Officiant [[DoomyDoomsOfDoom of Doom]], Hyness". In Japanese, "Demon Officiant, Hyness".
** [[spoiler:"Fell Officiant, Corrupt Hyness".]] In Japanese, [[spoiler:"Fallen Officiant, Darkside Hyness".]]
* {{Bowdlerise}}: Hyness refers to [[spoiler:Void Termina]] as "God" in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions. In the English localization it's changed to "Dark Lord", making him seem more like the fanatical leader of a ReligionOfEvil than [[spoiler:a once-benevolent HighPriest who [[TragicVillain tragically went insane]] and started preaching about [[ApocalypseCult ending the world]].]]
* TheCaligula: The leader of Jambandra is as [[AxCrazy batshit insane]] as he is willing to [[spoiler:[[LifeDrain suck the life out of]], and later ''[[HumanSacrifice sacrifice]]'' his own followers against their will]]. [[spoiler:He [[SanitySlippage wasn't always this far gone]], but the trope still applies to his present-day self.]]
* TheCameo: Appears as a resident of the village and a sticker in ''Super Kirby Clash''.
* CastingAShadow: Hyness primarily attacks with [[EnergyBall orbs of dark energy]].
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Among the many signs that he's not there mentally, Hyness ends [[MotorMouth his rant]] by wishing his Dark Lord happy birthday.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: To President Haltmann. Both are the leader of the game's main antagonistic faction (the Haltmann Works Company and the Jambastion Cult) who seek to reawaken a powerful being that they worship (Star Dream and Void Termina) and fight Kirby themselves before the GreaterScopeVillain is released, eventually getting absorbed into the FinalBoss themselves. However, whereas Haltmann simply wanted to use Star Dream to see his daughter again and ultimately gets assimilated into the Mother Computer because Susie made the machine go haywire, Hyness let his goal of reviving Void Termina turn into a insane wish to avenge his clan for being banished to the edge of the galaxy by reviving Void as a GodOfEvil to destroy everything, and willingly sacrifices himself into the Jamba Heart to revive Void. Finally, whereas Haltmann ultimately dies after Star Dream is destroyed, Hyness gets to live in the end thanks to [[spoiler:being freed from his corrupted state]].
* DarkIsEvil: [[spoiler:Corrupt Hyness wears a [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver black and red]] cloak, but it still retains the gold linings. He also has dark blue skin.]]
* DeathFromAbove: Aside from summoning a column of lightning, he can also create a rune (resembling his cult's sigil) above his head that fires off multiple thin needles downward.
* DontLookAtMe: He seriously, utterly ''[[BerserkButton hates]]'' people looking at his face, and as such always keeps it InTheHood. So naturally when it falls off during his boss fight and shows [[spoiler:his [[{{Gonk}} really goofily ugly mug]] to Kirby and the player]], his mind just ''breaks'' and he enters his next phase.
* DrunkOnTheDarkSide: [[spoiler:Corrupt Hyness seems even more unstable than he was in the main story, due to him being corrupted by the "darkness that escaped him" (i.e the Jamba Heart).]]
* DubInducedPlotHole: [[spoiler:In the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions, Hyness mentions that his people ''worship'' the "matter of darkness", whereas in the other localizations, he says that they are the ''masters'' of it. The former makes a lot more sense, given Hyness ''worships'' Void Termina, who is heavily implied to be connected to Dark Matter]].
* DubNameChange: His Japanese name is actually a direct transliteration of the English word "[[HisNameReallyIsBarkeep Highness]]". The English localization opted to spell it a bit different, to make it seem more like a name. [[spoiler:Darkside Hyness also becomes Corrupt Hyness.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Hyness firmly sets up how cruel he is when he walks over to Kirby and friends. He bumps into the unconscious Zan Partizanne, comments that she's in his way, and ''[[DisproportionateRetribution smacks her across the room]]''.
* EvilOldFolks: Hyness has been around for aeons, and is not only the BigBad of ''Star Allies'', but one of the [[AxCrazy craziest]] and [[HateSink most despicable]] characters in the entire franchise [[spoiler:until his eventual redemption.]]
* TheExile: His long-winded rant mentions how he and his followers (or his clan, in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions) were banished to the edge of the galaxy at some unknown date.
* {{Expy}}: Hyness shares his backstory, personality and a similar physical appearance with [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess Zant]]. Not only do they belong to an ancient civilization that was banished long ago due to their mastery of dark magic, but both are mysterious robed leaders whose mad devotion to an evil being drive the plot of the game. When confronted by the protagonist, they initially seem calm and confident, but soon break into a childish rant that reveals they are completely insane. Finally, their defeat marks the point when TheManBehindTheMan is revealed, prompting the hero and his allies to band together for the final showdown. To top it off, the first real taste of just how insane they are happens the first time they're both fully unmaked - Hyness when his hood is removed, and Zant when he's found unmasked in the Palace of Twilight.
* FallenHero:
** [[spoiler:Heroes in Another Dimension (and, indirectly, Soul Melter EX) seems to paint him as one of these.]]
** [[spoiler:While it's unknown if it happened during Hyness' own lifetime, his people ''did'' allegedly save the galaxy from a great crisis in the form of a "nightmare".]]
* FauxAffablyEvil: When you first encounter him, he speaks in a slow, calm and stilted manner. But it's clear from how he swatted away Zan Partizanne and his long and very fast MotiveRant that he is actively insane and doesn't even bother trying to hide it.
* FireIceLightning: Hyness can conjure pillars of fire, columns of lightning, and gales of icy wind during his boss fight.
* ForDoomTheBellTolls: Hyness's themes prominently feature ominous bells. It's inspired by gamelan music, according to the staff.
* GagNose: [[spoiler:His exposed face has a sizable schnoz. [[https://twitter.com/Kirby_JP/status/1057889994239467520 One tweet]] calls it "spiritual and amazing", perhaps one of the strangest ways to describe a nose in all of fiction.]]
* GoMadFromTheIsolation: Being sealed away and banished to the edge of the galaxy hasn't exactly been kind to Hyness's sanity. [[spoiler:He was once a BenevolentMageRuler before he went mad and became hell-bent on [[OmnicidalManiac destroying the universe]].]]
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: [[spoiler:He was somewhat crazy before, but Shinya Kumazaki stated in a ''Nintendo Dream'' interview that seeing the Jamba Heart for the first time caused Hyness' heart to spiral even further into madness.]]
* GoldAndWhiteAreDivine: Possibly an intentional choice on his part, seeing as how in the original JP script, he referred to [[spoiler:Void Termina]] as ''God'' instead of Dark Lord.
* {{Gonk}}: [[spoiler:His true appearance behind the hood is that of a cartoonish imp-thing with bulging eyes and a very prominent nose.]]
* GratuitousEnglish: In the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions, he still wishes his god a very "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!"
* HadesShaded: [[spoiler:As Corrupt Hyness, his skin goes from a bright blue-violet to nearly black.]]
* HateSink: Unlike Queen Sectonia and President Haltmann before him, who only turned to evil because of [[TragicVillain traumatic experiences in their pasts]] (Sectonia being corrupted by the [[spoiler:Dimension Mirror]] and President Haltmann losing his [[spoiler:daughter in an accident and losing all of his memories of her]]), Hyness is a complete asshole to his followers (unlike Haltmann, who genuinely cared for Susie before [[spoiler:losing his memories of her]]), [[spoiler:treating them like weapons and throwing them around at Kirby, sucking the life out of them, and even sacrificing them to rebuild the Jamba Heart.]] The ''Heroes in Another Dimension'' update cushions this somewhat by revealing that [[spoiler:he once saved the Three Mage Sisters' lives by giving them their respective powers, and in the ending to that mode, he is even purified by Kirby's Friend Heart.]]
* HealThyself: [[spoiler:Does this once during his first boss battle. Hyness being [[BadBoss Hyness]], he refills his health meter to full by [[LifeDrain sucking the vitality out of the Three Mage-Sisters until they're barely conscious]].]]
* HumanSacrifice: [[spoiler:When he is defeated, he sacrifices his mages to Void Termina to resurrect him; when even their sacrifice is not enough, he sacrifices himself.]]
* HumanShield: [[spoiler:In the third phase of his boss fight, he may use his generals' bodies as a shield while he throws dark energy balls from behind them.]]
* InconsistentColoring: [[spoiler:Corrupt Hyness's robes are shown as a deep blackish-red in his splash screen, but the prominent blue lighting of Another Dimension makes them look navy blue instead.]]
* InsaneEqualsViolent: [[spoiler:Before going insane, he was a kind leader who [[BenevolentMageRuler ruled his people]] with their best interests in mind, even saving the Three Mage-Sisters from death and [[SuperEmpowering granting them their powers]]. After going insane, he's a crazed lunatic obsessed with avenging his clan and willing to do whatever it takes to [[OmnicidalManiac destroy the universe]] and [[InTheirOwnImage remake it anew]].]]
* InstantRunes: He can summon his cult's [[WickedHeartSymbol heart insignia]] to rain down magical needles from above and create damaging gusts of ice.
* InsufferableGenius: According to Shinya Kumazaki, he was actually designed with this kind of trope in mind. He is selfish and can be downright scary, but he ''is'' a genius when it comes to magic.
* InTheHood: His face is covered in a hood for most of the game. [[spoiler:When you knock it off about halfway through his boss fight, he [[VillainousBreakdown loses it]].]]
* InTheirOwnImage: During his MotiveRant, he proclaims that once [[spoiler:Void Termina [[OmnicidalManiac destroys everything]]]], Hyness can usher in "the age of awesome" and return his people to the history books.
* JumpScare: The way his true face is revealed after his hood is knocked off goes this way.
* KnightOfCerebus: When Hyness comes down from his altar to introduce himself to the heroes, the tone of the game becomes ''much'' darker. He's dangerous, menacing, has few redeeming traits, and is overall much more vile than the rest of the antagonists in the series... but he's also ''really'' silly, hammy, and childish, which either balances out those other traits or [[PsychopathicManchild makes him seem more disturbing]].
* LargeHam: He's a very emotive character. When he flies into his MotiveRant, he cannot keep his arms still.
* LastOfHisKind: [[DownplayedTrope Or one of the last, at least]]. Shinya Kumazaki mentioned in a ''Nintendo Dream'' interview that Hyness' people are on the brink of extinction due to [[spoiler:their banishment and]] various conflicts they've had in the past.
* LaughablyEvil: He's awfully kooky for the leader of a cult bent on [[spoiler:universal annihilation]].
* {{Leitmotif}}: Hyness mostly has the gamelan and violin MoodMotif, but [[spoiler:"La follia d'amore", his second battle theme, becomes this in the ''Heroes in Another Dimension'' update, where it gets heavily slowed down into a calm guitar solo for "Let Them Know We're Happy".]]
* LifeDrain: Uses this on the [[spoiler:three generals]] when his second phase kicks off to [[HealThyself refill his health bar]]. [[spoiler:Subverted with Corrupt Hyness, who does the same thing... to lifeless logs dressed as the Three Mage-Sisters. As such, he doesn't recover any health.]]
* LightIsNotGood: He wears a white robe that has gold linings, but in his current state, he's as far from good as you could get.
* MadnessMantra: Before launching into his MotiveRant at a [[UnreadablyFastText breakneck pace]], he works himself up by repeating "no, no, no, no, no!" and "never, ever, ever!"
* MagicVersusScience: [[spoiler:According to Hyness, he is from a clan of magic-users who were banished by a group of science-users who feared their powers. Notably, in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions, he also mentions that the science-users actually used to be ''friends'' of his people before betraying them one day.]]
* MarionetteMotion: He moves his body in very unnatural ways, not unlike a puppet on a string, especially after Kirby knocks off his hood. That his battle theme is called "Puppet Offering" does not help this situation.
* MaskOfSanity: While Hyness appears calm and quiet initially, he freaks out and launches into a large [[MotorMouth fast]] rant in Kirby's encounter against him. [[spoiler:When his hood gets knocked off, he drops any pretense of sanity.]]
* MilkingTheGiantCow: Hyness's gestures are all very dramatic and [[MarionetteMotion a little unnatural]]. In particular, he moves his arms [[spoiler:(and his head, once his hood gets knocked off)]] around constantly, before, during, and after the boss fight with him.
* MoodMotif: Most of the music associated with Hyness is inspired by gamelan, the [[ForDoomTheBellTolls percussion-heavy]] traditional music of Indonesia. His battle theme "Puppet Offering" adds a second one, a violin played ''sul ponticello'' for maximum spookiness. [[spoiler:''La follia d'amore'', the battle theme that plays when Hyness loses his hood, turns the latter into a fast, frenetic violin solo.]]
* MoodSwinger: He can go from unnervingly calm to erratic and crazy with barely any warning.
* MotiveRant: When confronted by Kirby and the team, Hyness flies into a long, [[UnreadablyFastText hard-to-read]] rant about his plans to revive Void Termina.

* MotorMouth: Have you seen how long his MotiveRant is? He rolls it all off at lightning speed without a single slip of the tongue. [[https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Cumberjung/Hyness_talks_Really_fast Somebody calculated]] that Hyness speaks almost twice as fast as the current ''world record holder'' for the fastest-speaking person.
* NeverSayDie: Shockingly [[AvertedTrope averted]] in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions, where he becomes the first character in the games to explicitly use the word "die".[[note]]Meta Knight previously said "die" in ''VideoGame/KirbySuperStar'', but only in English.[[/note]] The other localizations play it straight, having him say "disappear forever" instead.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: The sole reason why Kirby was alerted to his plan was because [[ImperfectRitual he botched the ritual to summon his Dark Lord]], spreading the Jamba Heart pieces across the galaxy, including to Popstar and causing King Dedede to turn bad. It also gave Kirby his Friend Heart ability.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: If his MotiveRant is to be believed, [[spoiler:his people were responsible for stopping a great galactic crisis that threatened his people at one point. [[UngratefulBastard Their former friends, fearing his power, responded by banishing them and removing their existence from the history books]]]]. No wonder he went crazy.
* NoMouth: [[spoiler:As revealed by his unhooded appearance, he doesn't seem to have a mouth.]]
* OmnicidalManiac: His goal is to destroy the entire universe through reviving [[spoiler:Void Termina]]. He wants to seek vengeance on an unknown group who had previously betrayed him.
* PowerFloats: Similar to the three Mage-Sisters, he doesn't seem to have any visible legs. Not that this is new to the ''Kirby'' series.
* PreFinalBoss:
** Hyness is the last boss before Kirby and co. battle [[spoiler:Void Termina]].
** In Guest Star Mode, he's the last boss before [[spoiler:Morpho Knight]].
** In "Heroes in Another Dimension", he's fought right before you take on all three Mage-Sisters at once.
* PsychopathicManchild: He's stoic and collected half the time, but [[spoiler:when you remove his hood, he'll start flailing his arms and throwing the mages around like a child who didn't get his dessert]]. The sentiment of wishing an unholy calamity on the universe "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" doesn't help his case, either.
* RamblingOldManMonologue: He gets one of these at [[UnreadablyFastText ridiculously fast speed]], which doubles as his MotiveRant.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: [[spoiler:Corrupt Hyness has this color scheme, with his eyes changing from yellow to red, and his robe from white to reddish-black. When his hood is knocked off, it turns out his skin is now black, and the tips of his ears are red.]]
* RedEyesTakeWarning: [[spoiler:As Corrupt Hyness, where his yellow eyes behind his robe go from yellow to red.]]
* ReluctantPsycho: [[spoiler:Corrupt Hyness's pause menu description includes a line asking Zan to take care of him "if [his] heart goes crazy again", which seems to indicate that Hyness was aware of his own SanitySlippage once.]]
* RollingAttack: After he TurnsRed in his second phase, he'll start using his own version of Friend Circle and proceed to roll all over the screen randomly, ending with him throwing [[spoiler:the bodies of his three generals at once]] to cover the ground. He'll also become dizzy after that.
* SanitySlippage: Prior to being banished, Hyness actually used to be quite calm and caring, even [[spoiler:saving the lives of the Three Mage Sisters and making them his top soldiers]]. However, the years of banishment were clearly a massive blow to his mind, as he devolved into a psychopathic, universe-despising, and physically abusive cult leader who wants nothing but chaos and destruction. It gets even worse when his mask is knocked off during his boss fight, at which point his sanity just takes a nosedive off the deep end. [[spoiler:He seems to finally return to normal after being purified of evil in the ending of Heroes in Another Dimension]].
* SanitySlippageSong: [[spoiler:Hyness's {{leitmotif}} is normally [[ForDoomTheBellTolls ominous bell tones]], but his second boss battle theme, ''La follia d'amore'', features a frenetic violin solo that shows how insane he's become after getting his hood knocked off.]]
* ScratchyVoicedSenior: He's been around for aeons, and has a raspy, screechy voice courtesy of Creator/ShigeruChiba.
* ShadowedFaceGlowingEyes: Hyness wears a white robe with a hood and has glowing yellow eyes underneath. When his hood falls off during his boss battle, he's [[spoiler:revealed to be [[{{Gonk}} extremely weird and ugly looking]]]].
* SinisterMinister: He's the insane officiant of his cult who wants to see the whole universe destroyed.
* SinisterSchnoz: [[spoiler: When his hood is knocked off, he's revealed to have an enormous GagNose. This doesn't diminish how evil he is in the slightest.]]
* SorcerousOverlord: He was chosen as the ruler of his land due to his exceptional magic powers. [[spoiler:If the Mage Sisters are to be believed, [[BenevolentMageRuler he actually did a good job at first]], but eventually became this]].
* SquishyWizard: Hyness has powerful magic attacks, but takes more damage than most bosses. His second phase has normal defense, however.
* SuddenlyShouting: Hyness starts out eerily calm, but just before his [[UnreadablyFastText lightning-fast]] MotiveRant starts, he starts [[MadnessMantra repeatedly]] screeching "no!" at the top of his lungs.
-->'''Hyness:''' Well then... It seems... we do not have enough energy... to revive our Dark Lord... Must we... allow ourselves... to fall... into oblivion? [[LittleNo No.]] NO! [[RapidFireNo No no no no no no! NONONONONONONONONO!!!]] '''[[BigNo NOOOOO, I SAAAAY!!!]]'''
* SuperEmpowering: [[spoiler:Soul Melter EX reveals that he took the Three Mage-Sisters under his wing after "unlocking" their aptitude for elemental magic.]]
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: His initial appearance's eyes glow a bright faded yellow from underneath his hood. [[spoiler:Corrupt Hyness's eyes are changed to RedEyesTakeWarning.]]
* TalkativeLoon: He initially starts off as quiet and unsettling. Then he realizes the mages don't have enough energy to [[spoiler:revive Void Termina]], and, [[MotorMouth well...]]
* TantrumThrowing: [[spoiler:Making his hood fall off after defeating him provokes this reaction out of him. The "throwing" part involves his generals' bodies, that is.]]
* TheyCalledMeMad: One of the bits in his rambling include how he had been called crazy in the past.
* ThisCannotBe: He's left saying this when you defeat him in battle, which is before [[spoiler:he offers himself and the generals up to revive Void Termina]].
* ThisIsUnforgivable: Another bit in his rambling includes [[spoiler:how he refuses to forgive those who banished him and his people to the edge of the galaxy despite having saved them from extinction, and attempted to erase their existence from history]].
* TookALevelInJerkass: [[spoiler:From what we learn about him in Heroes in Another Dimension, he used to be a legitimately kind person who saved the lives of the Mage-Sisters and led them towards a bright future... [[SanitySlippage then things changed.]]]]
* TragicVillain: Possibly. [[spoiler:"Heroes in Another Dimension" heavily implies that Hyness wasn't always crazy, or at least not as crazy as we see him, though the cause of said corruption is entirely up to fan theories. Francisca mentions that she wishes that he could go back to his old self, and after being healed by a Friend Heart, he's shown not acting entirely like a loon. A secret completion picture for the mode even shows him and the Mages playing with Kirby in a comedic, friendly way. Then there's this line of dialog in Corrupt Hyness' description:]]
-->[[spoiler:'''Hyness:''' Zan Par! If my heart goes crazy again... No, never mind.]]
* {{Unperson}}: Mentions that his ''entire people'' had this done to them in the past during his MotiveRant.
* UnreadablyFastText: See that massive wall of text Hyness calls a MotiveRant? It all clicks by without the player's control, and he gets through it all in under fifteen seconds.
* UnreliableExpositor: Sure, Hyness's MotiveRant has [[WhamLine huge implications for the series' lore]], but one must remember that he is a far cry from sane when he rattles it all off. In particular, there's a nuance in Japanese where he merely ''speculates'' that his clan was sealed away for fear of their power, which got LostInTranslation.
* VerbalTic: In the Japanese version, he's fond of streee~etching his voooowels oooout like thiiii~s...
* VictoryFakeout: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. He goes down suspiciously easily and doesn't appear to have a [[TurnsRed second phase]] like most bosses do. Deplete his health bar, and [[spoiler:he hangs onto a tiny sliver of HP as his hood is knocked off, causing him to [[VillainousBreakdown fly into a rage]] and refill his life bar for phase two.]]
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: Despite ''Star Allies'' mostly being lighthearted in tone even by series standards with its focus on ThePowerOfFriendship and the ability to recruit many of the series' previous villains as allies, Hyness contrasts it as one of the most evil and unsettling {{Big Bad}}s in ''Kirby'' history. He's [[AxCrazy violently insane]], abuses his followers on screen multiple times, and leads an ApocalypseCult seeking to [[spoiler:summon his dark god to bring forth the end of everything]]. [[spoiler:"Heroes in Another Dimension" puts his morality in another light, implying that he used to be more benevolent and lost his mind over time; unlike past "corrupted" villains like Queen Sectonia and President Haltmann, he not only lives but gets ''redeemed'' in the good ending of the mode.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: The long MotiveRant that largely consists of UnreadablyFastText that he makes before the boss fight is pretty much this for Hyness. [[spoiler:He gets another one when he loses his hood in mid-battle with Kirby, causing him to [[BerserkButton lose his temper]] and his {{sanity}} completely.]]
* VillainNoLongerIdle: Hyness spends most of the game at the Divine Terminus, working on regathering the Dark hearts to reassmble the Jamba Heart. And surely enough, once his last line of defense in the form of Zan Partizanne goes down when Kirby and friends make it to his hideout, Hyness finally decides to deal with them himself.
* WalkingSpoiler: Although he is literally the first character we see in the game's opening cutscene, he's still hard to talk about without going into his overall goals as well as [[spoiler:his abusive treatment of the Mage-Sisters, his descent into madness, and eventual redemption in ''Heroes in Another Dimension'']].
* WhamLine: He mentions that his cult is a master of a [[spoiler:"matter most dark", further deepening connections between Void Termina and the Dark Matter]].
** In the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions, he instead says that [[spoiler:his people ''worship'' the "matter of darkness", which has different, but still enormous implications]].
* WeUsedToBeFriends: [[spoiler:If his words are to be believed, his people were betrayed by their former trusted allies.]]
* WickedHeartSymbol: Hyness' hood bears the same crest shown on the Three Generals' hats, as well as Pon & Con's [[spoiler:and Void Termina's]] armor. He plays the "Wicked" part to unnaturally terrifying levels, being a SinisterMinister who treats his mages like weapons and wants to [[spoiler:bring about ''the end of days by reviving a GodOfEvil.'']]
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: All we see from his hood is a pair of yellow eyes. [[spoiler:Underneath the hood, they're still yellow, but they also have concentric blue circles that make him look completely crazy.]]

-->''No one knows from whence he came, only that he has existed for aeons, unchanging and unrelenting. Perpetually roaming the cosmos, he has finally arrived.''
-->''Born from the total absence of care and composed of dark energy, he has awakened from a state of mere existence to that of true sentience. He now desires only one thing... to CRUSH all opposition!''

The dark god worshipped by Hyness and the FinalBoss of the game. A mindless[[ItCanThink (?)]] destroyer of worlds who only knows ruination. In reality, however, he may be something much more...
-----
* AdorableAbomination: When his core form is mimicking Kirby's face. However, the core becomes significantly ''less'' cute when it starts mimicking Dark Matter and its associated forms.
* AllYourPowersCombined: He has the attacks of multiple previous final bosses in the franchise, including Magolor's dual-wielded Ultra Swords (which is combined with Daroach's Triple Star), Zero Two's wings and Dark Matter summoning, the Master Crown, Miracle Matter's Needle form, Morpho Knight's scale wave, Marx's shooter cutter, Dark Mind shooting lasers downwards and onto mirrors, Drawcia Soul and Soul of Sectonia's bouncing attack, Drawcia's paint rain, and the Mage Sisters' weapons and elements.
* AlmightyIdiot: He's an immensely powerful god who has been described as having shaped reality based on his past whims, but when first revived the ritual is incomplete due to Kirby's actions, which results in him being a FeralVillain who only uses his godly power to sate his base instincts for destruction. As his mind and soul continue awakening through each successive fight with Kirby, he grows more intelligent and by extension more skilled at using his power, but in exchange he grows more susceptible to the goodness and cheeriness of Kirby influencing him towards redemption.
* AmazingTechnicolorBattlefield: He has two of these. The first is the below-mentioned deep space crystal platform, and the other is exclusive to the fight against Void: Void Termina's body itself, as his innards turn into a solid-colored emptiness that cycles through multiple colors as you fight him. Interestingly enough, [[https://youtu.be/oci1lcs-pz0?t=298 this video]] shows that it's also meant to have [[BeyondTheImpossible a sparkling black hole]] in the background, but for some reason, as of this edit, it isn't present in the actual game.
* AmbiguouslyRelated: Due to lines in Hyness' MotiveRant and several of Void Termina's {{Wham Shot}}s, it's implied that Void Termina is related to ''Dark Matter'' [[note]](its insides is structured almost like that of Dark Star, his core eventually takes on [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand2 Real]] [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Dark Matter]]'s form, and his final attack is named "Dark Matter Laser" in game data)[[/note]], ''Zero'' [[note]](the wings of his Angel form resemble those of [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards Zero-Two]]), and the core form can also portray 02's "fake" face - plus, Zero is the ruler of the previously mentioned Dark Matter[[/note]], ''the Ancients'' who made the Master Crown [[note]](the crown his Soul form uses for his third form's laser attacks looks almost exactly like the [[VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand Master Crown]], although it's only a blue silhouette in Story Mode)[[/note]], and even ''Kirby'' himself [[note]](its core primarily displays a face similar to Kirby's, helped by its pink coloration)[[/note]]. Soul Melter EX makes things far less ambiguous, with pause text in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions (Void Termina's 2nd phase) explicitly stating that he is the origin of "Matters of Dream, Dark, Soul, and Heart", and by making Void resemble Zero and Kirby to an even greater degree.
* AncientEvil: He's reportedly been around for aeons.
* AsLongAsThereIsEvil: Zigzagged. The boss description for Void Soul speculates he cannot be killed only defeated for short time, but it also speculates that Void Termina is a being affected by both positive and negative emotions, and states that when he comes back [[SympathyForTheDevil hopefully he will be a friend.]]
* AstralFinale: The battle against it takes place on an empty crystalline platform in deep space. In [[BossRush Soul Melter EX]], it becomes a ''literal'' AstralFinale, since Void's [[TrueFinalBoss absolutely final form]] is titled "Astral Birth".
* AttackItsWeakPoint: His first and third forms require the player to break five [[RedEyesTakeWarning pink-red eyes]] that [[EyesDoNotBelongThere pop up across his body]] to defeat him.
* AxCrazy: He wants nothing but everything - and we mean ''everything'' - that stands in his way to be destroyed. His later fights show him slowly growing sentient and abandoning that in favor of enjoying life.
* BattleBoomerang: Void Soul can attack with four boomerang cutters fired from his body similar to the Soul bosses before him (Dark Mind, Drawcia, Marx, Queen Sectonia, Star Dream; Magolor is the exception.). Void does this too, although during his fight, the last wave is more like Drawcia Soul's variation whereas Void Soul sticks to Dark Mind's variation.
* BeamOWar: Only in Story Mode, after his core is defeated, he shapeshifts into Dark Matter and engages in this with his [[DesperationAttack Dark Matter Laser]] against Kirby and his [[EleventhHourSuperpower Star Allies Sparkler]].
* BeamSpam:
** Void Termina's core lays delayed lasers across the arena in his fights. He occasionally scatters them around to fill the screen with 90% laser.
** Void's opening attack is a ''Franchise/{{Touhou|Project}}''-esque ''barrage,'' which is later followed up by three different patterns of laser spam.
* BeastOfTheApocalypse: Even [[EvilerThanThou especially vile villains]] like Fecto Elfilis seek no more than conquest, only resorting to destroying the world if [[VillainousBreakdown things don't go their way]]. The moment Void Termina is born, he only seeks to destroy everything in his sight. It takes Kirby's [[{{Determinator}} fortitude]], [[ThePowerOfFriendship friends]], and [[AllLovingHero kindness]] for the Dark Lord to stand down.
* BeatThemAtTheirOwnGame: Near the end of his first phase, Void Termina will use the new elemental ability mechanic to his advantage to imbue [[AnIcePerson ice]], [[PlayingWithFire fire]], or [[ShockAndAwe lightning]] into his Ultra Sword hands.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: His first form can transform his hands into giant swords, which strangely resemble [[VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand Ultra Swords]]. He can then imbue said swords with [[PlayingWithFire Fire]], [[AnIcePerson Ice]], or [[ShockAndAwe Lightning]] to boost their power further.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: He has no sense of good or evil, only destruction. In particular, his Soul form's pause description mentions that he's affected by positive and negative energies, which influences how he rises again, with Void's description stating that he may be on the cusp of shifting back to good.
* BossSubtitles:
** [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast (True) Destroyer of Worlds, Void Termina]].
** [[ChaosIsEvil Essence of Chaos, Void Soul.]]
** [[MeaningfulName Astral Birth, Void.]]
* BouncingBattler: His fourth phase has an attack where he bounces around and then towards the foreground, trying to smash Kirby and friends, in an homage to one of Drawcia Soul's attacks. This is called "Sprint" in the data files. Void Soul has a [[DopplegangerAttack splitting variation]] called Deadly Bound.
* BreakingOldTrends: Void (the one from Soul Melter EX) is the first boss to outrank a Soul boss as the "TrueFinalBoss" of the game.
* BreakingOutTheBoss: Hyness' whole plan is to resurrect him, and he promptly becomes the final boss.
* BulletHell: Void Soul and Void can crank out patterns of bullets and lasers that would make most of the [[VideoGame/MegaManClassic Wily Capsules]] look like amateurs in comparison. His first and third phases are no slouch at this either, as his wide variety of attacks can make even the most seasoned player weep.
* CallForward: A few rather [[ThePowerOfHate dark examples]] in [[VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamland Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe]], where the Master Crown uses an attack identical to Void Termina's "Crown of Evil and Obsession" attack as the FinalBoss of Magolor Epilogue and a being that resembles Void Soul replaces the orb in the center of Magolor Soul's boss stage in the enhanced True Arena.
* ChaosIsEvil: Zig-zagged but ultimately {{subverted|Trope}}. While Void Termina is an evil DestroyerDeity brought about by [[ThePowerOfHate the darkness Hyness collected]], he is a much weaker incarnation of [[GodOfChaos Void]], whose chaotic nature gives him a shot at redemption.
* CognizantLimbs: Unlike the versions for the main story and Soul Melter, the first and third phases of Soul Melter EX Void Termina have all the [[AttackItsWeakPoint extra eyes]] that count for the MultipleLifeBars present constantly, so all of them can be damaged without having to wait for each to appear following the last being destroyed. That said, in line with the trope, the last eye on his head is kept hidden until every other eye is destroyed.
* ContinuityCavalcade: ''Where to even begin?''
** The runes on his body include the [[VideoGame/KirbysAdventure Star Rod,]] a [[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheAmazingMirror mirror,]] [[VideoGame/KirbySqueakSquad Dark Nebula,]] and what appears to be [[VideoGame/KirbyTripleDeluxe a flower.]]
** His Demon God form is able to summon [[VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamland Ultra Swords]] that he can then embed with [[VideoGame/KirbySqueakSquad either fire, ice, or lightning]].
** His weakpoints are five pink reptilian eyes, bringing to mind the eye of [[VideoGame/KirbySqueakSquad Dark Nebula]], cemented by the eyes occasionally emanating a pattern similar to the "vortex" seen in [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/kirby/images/0/02/KSqSq_Dark_Nebula_artwork.png/revision/latest?cb=20141207191304&path-prefix=en Dark Nebula's artwork.]]
** The strange droplets that fall from the "ceiling" in the second phase are internally referred to as "Red Tears," likely referring to [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards Zero Two.]] The floor's hexagonal pattern also mimics that of his domain, Dark Star.
** Speaking of Zero Two, the wings Void Termina's Angel form dons are colored exactly the same as his, sans Void's version, and the crystalline pattern also references [[VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot Star Dream]] and [[VideoGame/KirbySuperStar Marx]].
** A portion of the weapons that he summons shimmer a distinct rainbow hue, similar to that of objects such as the [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand2 Rainbow Sword]] and [[Videogame/TeamKirbyClashDeluxe the Platinum Gears]].
** The Angel form's last attack is to perform BeamSpam using none other than the [[VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand Master Crown,]] labelled by the manual as the "Crown of Evil and Obsession."
** In his "True Destroyer of Worlds" form, Void Termina's color scheme takes on a RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver theme. Considering what its insides looks like and the Final Core's color scheme, it might be a reference to the [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Hyper Zone]] and [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards Dark Star]] which used similar color schemes for their exterior and interior respectively.
** The Final Core form.
*** Two of his pause descriptions mention breezes, alluding to [[VideoGame/KirbySuperStar Spring Breeze]].
*** His default face is identical to the neutral face that Kirby wears in most 2D titles, and his Soul Melter/Soul Melter EX palettes have white-ish bodies to mirror his original monochrome coloration.
*** One of the faces he makes resembles [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards Zero Two's false face.]] The "Bon Appétit" attack also mimics Zero's ability to spawn Dark Matter in [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Dream Land 3,]] as well as [[VideoGame/KirbyCanvasCurse Drawcia Soul's Para Matters]].
*** His "Full Smile" attack is identical to the Needle form of [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards Miracle Matter.]]
*** His "Sprint" and "Deadly Sun" attacks are similar to the tackling attacks of many a Soul boss, as is Void Soul's Shooter Cutter, both of which have been shared by most other Soul bosses sans Magolor.
*** His "Loud Song" attack has him take the form of [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Real Dark Matter,]] with bullet barrages similar to those of both Zeros.
*** His appearance as Void gives him a white body with a red "face," creating a near-identical likeness to Zero - a relationship that is further hammered in by the appearance of the [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Boss Butch version of the Hyper Zone in his title card,]] as well as his pause screen picture wearing a KubrickStare version of Zero Two's "face", reminiscent of Zero's Boss Butch credits artwork from ''Kirby's Dream Land 3''.
*** An attack exclusive to Void copies the appearance and pattern of [[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheAmazingMirror Dark Mind,]] using mirror-esque constructs in various ways.
*** Around the seven minute mark, Void's final theme uses a chiptune segment identical to that of the [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand original Green Greens.]]
*** In addition to the above, in the standalone version of The Star-Conquering Traveler's final movement in the soundtrack, "Sparkling Star", the Game Boy chiptune sound enters 4 minutes 27 seconds into the song. ''VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand'' came out in April 27, 1992.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: To Star Dream. Both are powerful beings that are worshipped by the main villains of the game (President Haltmann and Hyness) who are ultimately driven insane from their influence (Star Dream erases most of Haltmann's memories while the Jamba Heart Void which was sealed in drives Hyness mad). They then assimilate the BigBad for the final battle (Haltmann unwillingly fuses his mind with Star Dream while Hyness forcibly sacrifices himself to revive Void Termina) and progressively get stronger as the fight goes on (Star Dream merges with the Access Ark to reveal its true form while Void Termina grows wings, and later reveals his core), while their OneWingedAngel forms heavily suggest that they are related to one of the important characters (Star Dream is heavily implied to be another Nova, while Void Termina is implied to be related to Kirby and maybe even ''Dark Matter''). However, whereas Star Dream eventually turns into a cold, destructive machine hellbent on destroying organic life through merging minds with Haltmann, Void Termina gradually grows more and more sentient as Kirby's positive influence starts to affect him, eventually willing to stop destroying everything in favor of enjoying life.
* TheCorruptible: Quite fittingly for a being that is basically the AnthropomorphicPersonification of chaos, while violence and destruction defines his very existence, he's quite easily influenced by the morality and desires of those around him, making him a case of both "The Corruptible" and "[[InvertedTrope The Redeemable]]". While his initial revival is imbued with the [[OmnicidalManiac universe-hating evil]] of Hyness, each successive fight against Kirby and his immense NiceGuy aura, starting from when he [[ItCanThink gains sapience]] that allows him to ''want'' to bring destruction, has him getting less and less interested in destroying reality and more interested in settling down to enjoy life, with his final defeat and "death" bringing hope for him potentially pulling a full HeelFaceTurn if he ever is revived again.
* CrystalDragonJesus: He is the titular crystal dragon in the religion of the Cult of Jamba Heart.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Somehow, he manages to one-up Star Dream. While Star Dream wished to eradicate organic life, Void Termina seeks to destroy ''[[OmnicidalManiac everything]]''.
* DarkIsEvil: His body is mainly colored dark grey, and he is a highly destructive being. Inverted for his Soul fight, where his body is colored white instead, but played straight once more in his truest form which is [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver black and red]], then promptly [[ZigZaggingTrope averted once more]] as his core takes on a rainbow-strobing palette.
* DarkReprise: The first and third movements of his battle theme, ''The Star-Conquering Traveler'', are ominous versions of the ''Song of Supplication''. The fourth and fifth/final movements add an electric guitar version of the Jambandra Base rendition of ''Green Greens'' to the mix, with the latter seguing into a [[SadBattleMusic somber rendition]].
* DefeatEqualsFriendship: Implied. The death animation for Void seems to hint that Kirby "purified" him of whatever negative energies were making it run amok, turning him good again. An [[https://i.redd.it/jakj5ha04dl21.png unused variation of A Farewell to Kirby]] also depicts Kirby and Void taking a nap together, with Void smiling without a care in the world.
* DestroyerDeity: Explicitly referred to as a god by Hyness, and in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions, his title is God of Destruction.
* DidntNeedThoseAnyway: He abandons his body after phase four in the main game for another shot at destroying Kirby and appears none weaker for the wear for it.
* DimensionalTraveler: In one of the tweets leading up to the reveal of ''Heroes in Another Dimension'', [[https://twitter.com/kirby_jp/status/1060003938173210624?s=21 Zan suggests]] that the Jamba Heart Void was sealed in came from another world via Another Dimension. ''Super Kirby Clash'' supports this, with the Jamba Heart [[https://stardust-spinner.tumblr.com/post/187582977896/easter-egg-discovered occasionally appearing]] during Aeon Hero's DimensionalCutter attack. Void is also stated in Soul Melter EX to be an omniversal constant, existing in all dimensions in one way or another.
* DoppelgangerAttack: Void Soul and Void -- Astral Birth create three copies each during their Deadly Bound and Full Smile attacks (their versions of [[BouncingBattler Sprint]] and [[SpikeBallsOfDoom Laughing Needle]]). Attacking the copies counts as hitting the original, making this a case of AwesomeButImpractical and SharedLifeMeter.
* DubNameChange: Named "Ende-Nil" in Japanese, Chinese and Korean (corruption of German Ende (end) and Latin Nihil (zero, void)). Void Soul is "Soul of Nil" in the aforementioned languages, and "Void" is just "Nil".
* EarthShatteringKaboom: His core contains enough energy that this is what it unleashes on the arena he is fought on when it finally blows up.
* EasterEgg:
** If you listen closely when you're fighting the second phase, you can hear Void Termina's heartbeat on the Switch's HD Rumble. You're indeed fighting its heart at the moment.
** [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/kirby/images/0/01/Void_Termina_Tattoos.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20180418030917&path-prefix=en The runes on its body]] have several peculiar shapes, such as King Dedede's glove, a sword, Gordo, a parasol, an old reel player, the Star Rod, UFO Kirby, and even [[Videogame/BoxBoy Qbby]].
* EldritchAbomination:
** Almost ''nothing'' is known about him, other than that he wants to destroy '''everything''', he exists in every universe, and he [[SealedEvilInACan was sealed away prior to the events of the game]].
** Taken further with its core/soul form, which utilises VoluntaryShapeshifting as most of its attacks. Its face morphs into ''Kirby's face'' as well as [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand2 Dark Matter]] and the false face of '''[[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards 02]]'''.
* ElectrifiedBathtub: Void Soul has an attack where he raises the water on the stage, then fires his laser onto it, electrifying the water. Void will subvert this trope, however, instead using it to slow down Kirby's movement while he tries to crush him.
* EmptyEyes: Void Soul's Dark Matter form has a singular pupilless eye. His mask also lacks any sort of eyes as well, just two black holes.
* EverythingsBetterWithRainbows: The various weapons that he summons (except for the Master Crown) all have a shimmering effect applied to them, and Void's body courses with veins that cycle through the color spectrum.
* EvilIsBigger: He is a pure, destructive force of evil, and is fittingly positively ''humongous''.
* FallenAngel: His second form is officially known as the "Angel Form", his swooping attack is called "Fallen Heaven," and his wings are stylized very similarly to 0[[superscript:2]], who shared the same motif.
* FeralVillain: When Void Termina is first summoned, his soul hasn't awakened yet, which means he is [[AlmightyIdiot completely mindless]] and operating on the sole instinct he's learned from all the [[ThePowerOfHate hatred inside Hyness]] -- destroy everything in his path. He gains some form of intellect in Soul Melter, and is fully sentient in Soul Melter EX.
* FireIceLightning: Void Termina has the ability to [[SpellBlade channel these]] with the weapons it summons.
* GoForTheEye: In the 1st and 3rd phases, the only way to hurt him is to target the eyes that appear on his body.
* GoOutWithASmile: When Void is defeated, he smiles as light bursts out of him.
* GodIsEvil: He may be the origin of Matter, but he does not hesitate to begin to wipe it all out once he appears. Zigzagged, however, in that this may be less of his own will and more because of the dark energies used to summon him influencing his actions.
* GodOfChaos: Void's true nature is seemingly one of these. As the so-called "[[TheMaker progenitor of origination]]", he was created from all the chaotic possibilities of the universe, and Void Soul's BossSubtitles even call him the "Essence of Chaos". Interestingly, this gives him just as much potential for evil as it does for good.
* GoodHurtsEvil: He's the only enemy in ''Star Allies'' who outright takes damage, however miniscule, from having a Friend Heart thrown at him. Given how his motivations, interests, and outright physical body are directly influenced by the positive and negative energies around him, and in his boss fights he's mostly [[MadeOfEvil composed of]] and motivated by the [[OmnicidalManiac universe-hating]] negativity of Hyness, it makes sense that he's hurt by the kindness and desire for friendship emanated by [[NiceGuy Kirby]]. This also means it's only logical the FinishingMove against (base game) Void Termina is a CombinedEnergyAttack conjured up by ThePowerOfFriendship, while each successive Soul Melter fight against him purifies more and more of his evil tendencies simply because he's constantly being exposed to Kirby's immense friendly aura.
* GreaterScopeVillain: In general is this for the entire franchise:
** His destructive nature across the universe would end up causing the ancients to create a lot of the {{MacGuffin}}s throughout the franchise, like the Star Rod, the Galactic Novas and the Master Crown, making him responsible for the plots and antagonists of ''Adventure'', ''Super Star'', ''Return to Dream Land'' and ''Planet Robobot''.
** One of the Four Heroes of Yore who sealed him away is implied to be Galacta Knight, whose corruption and subsequent sealing becomes a major plot point in the series (notably in the ''Kirby Clash'' games).
** His failed resurrection is the driving plot point of ''Star Allies'', as it causes the Jamba and Friend hearts to be scattered across Dreamland and the universe, and causes Kirby to gain the ability to turn enemies into friends.
** Last but most ''certainly'' not least, you cannot explain why Void is the GreaterScopeVillain without mentioning the absolute WhamLine that is the Japanese, Chinese and Korean pause descriptions, which reveals Void is the source of '''''everything''''' in the Kirby universe. Dark Matter, the primary villainous faction who are implied to be connected to countless villains, and even Kirby himself, are all Void’s reincarnations, which makes Void responsible for every single game since the very first Dream Land.
* GoOutWithASmile: When you defeat Void, he starts to smile not unlike Kirby while exploding.
* GroundPunch: This is one of the attacks that he uses during Phase 1. It unleashes multiple shockwaves of energy.
* HarderThanHard: Void, who is effectively the first EX version of a Soul boss.
* HatePlague: His fourth phase (and Void Soul)'s first attack is always to inflict this on your friends. Quickly throw Friend Hearts onto them to cure it! Strangely, Void doesn't use this attack.
* HornsOfVillainy: He has long horns in his first and angel forms, and he is the final boss of the game.
* InstantRunes: His second phase has him shoot strange dark runes at the player character. The runes will hurt Kirby if he tries to inhale them. Void Termina's [[BossRush Soul Melter EX]] variation summons up a much bigger red rune, which drops a [[SuspiciousVideoGameGenerosity Maxim Tomato]] if the player manages to destroy it.
* ItCanThink: It's revealed that Void Termina has gained a Soul during the fourth/soul form battle. [[OmnicidalManiac He still wants to destroy everything]], though this is less out of destruction being all he knows [[ForTheEvulz and more because he wants to]]. The description of Void Soul mentioned that if he were to be resurrected using positive energy, he could potentially become... a friend. Void takes this even further, seemingly wanting to abandon his tyrannical rage in favor of longing for naps, food, and dreams of friends reuniting.
* LaughingMad: He does this in the fourth phase when he uses [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards Miracle Matter's Needle form]] to attack.
* {{Leitmotif}}: There are two musical motifs associated with Void Termina, both of which are present in his four-movement battle theme, The Star-Conquering Traveler:
** The first, of course, is the Song of Supplication, the theme that is implied in-universe to be a hymn of worship by the Jambandran religion to Void Termina.
** The second and more alarming motif is that of ''Green Greens'', which ominously heralds the players upon arriving at Jambandra Base with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy8JuHfFi0o a more sinister, direct rearrangement of the familiar theme.]] This could also double as foreshadowing regarding [[ShadowArchetype the true nature of Void Termina.]]
* LightIsNotGood: Downplayed, played straighter as his forms go on, and then ultimately zigzagged. The weapons he summons have a faint rainbow-tinted shimmer, and his EX version is colored white, but otherwise the colors in his palette (his default one is mainly colored dark grey) are very much evil. In particular, Void Soul is colored bluish-white, as a likely reference to monochrome Kirby from the older games, and Void is coated white-and-red in a call-back to Zero, with rainbow-strobing veins running over it. Of course, with the revelation that Void is not inherently evil, the "not good" part may not apply 100% of the time.
* MadeOfEvil: Zigzagged. Several of his pause descriptions mentioned how he's made of dark energy, classifying him as this. On the other hand, however, he can also be influenced by positive energies, making him MadeOfGood at the same time.
* TheMaker: In the JP pause screen for Void Termina's 2nd phase in Soul Melter EX, he's stated to be the source of "Matters of Dream, Dark, Soul, and Heart," as well as the "origin of all," seemingly stating that almost everything in the Kirby universe is a byproduct of his chaotic power, intentionally or otherwise.
* MeaningfulAppearance:
** His Angel form dons a pair of distressingly familiar [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards red-and-white wings]], and Void Soul's variation has his body take on the same palette, with a green-ish tail - remove the mask, add a halo, and it's basically ''a buff, armored Zero Two.''
** His absolute true form resembles a monochrome Kirby bearing Zero's crimson eye, eventually taking cues from Real Dark Matter, Miracle Matter, Dark Mind, and nearly ''every'' Soul boss for certain attacks.
* MeaningfulName:
** "Termina" means to end, likely referring to his world-destroying hobbies.
** Both the Japanese, Chinese and Korean name, Ende-Nil, and English name, Void Termina, can be re-interpreted to mean '''Final-Zero.''' In his truest form, its core drops the "Termina" part of the name, leaving just Nil/Void, a.k.a. '''Zero.'''
** Void's boss subtitle heralds him as the ''Astral Birth'' - in layman's terms, '''a birth of the stars,''' a nod to '''Kirby's''' Japanese, Chinese and Korean title of "Kirby of the Stars." In addition, the romaji for his game's name can be interpreted alternatively as ''[[TitleDrop Star Arise]]''. In fact, ''Kirby Star Allies: The Original Soundtrack'' has Void's death sound as a track, which is entitled, in plain all-caps English, "STAR ARISE".
* MesACrowd: As Void Soul and Void, he can split into four, increasing the range of his attacks and making them harder to avoid.
* MightyGlacier: His first form is incredibly slow-moving, mainly to make it easier to AttackItsWeakPoint wherever it pops up, but his GroundPunch, ShockwaveStomp, and SpellBlade attacks all have widely-reaching AreaOfEffect, so he doesn't really ''need'' to directly hit you to hurt you and force you to dodge, and the hit points of each individual health bar will still make him take a while to bring down even disregarding dodging attacks and aiming at the targets.
* MiniMook: The fourth phase and Void Soul can [[FlunkyBoss spit out smaller versions of himself]], each with six Dark Matter-esque bubbles attached to their backs, mimicking Zero's ability to spawn smaller Dark Matters - although they behave more like Drawcia Soul's Para Matters. They'll attack Kirby and co. by attempting to inhale them, using their maws as vacuums not unlike Kirby himself.
* MonsterProgenitor: Heavily implied, if not outright stated. One of Hyness' pause screens refer to him as the "progenitor of darkness" (with a later one outright calling him the origin of all matter), and when this is combined with the many visual cues he carries from certain entities, [[EpilepticTrees the dots connect themselves...]]
* MultidirectionalBarrage: One of his attacks in the fourth phase is to shoot small energy bullets all over the place.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Even by Kirby standards, this thing is out there, with his design opting for a VideoGame/FinalFantasy aesthetic rather than the more cartoonish designs that Kirby is known for.
* OffWithHisHead: After Kirby beats his first form, his head falls over, revealing a vortex that sucks Kirby and co into his body if they come close. ([[ButThouMust This is necessary to progress.]]) His third form has this happening again, and Kirby has to re-enter his body again to fight the monster's core.
* OmnicidalManiac: According to the description for the final stage, destruction is all he knows and he is regarded as a destroyer of worlds. Even after he gains a Soul, he still decides he wants to end the known universe. Why? Well... [[ForTheEvulz he just wants to.]]
* PhysicalGod:
** He's referred to as a dark lord of destruction and a progenitor of darkness, and Hyness' description outright calls it a deity. If Hyness wasn't wrong, his title of "Destroyer of Worlds" isn't for show — he supposedly has the power to ''destroy the entire universe.'' This also applies to the Japanese, Chinese and Korean versions - Hyness referred to him as "God" instead of "Dark Lord," and his original subtitle is "Destruction God".
** Void's 2nd phase ups the ante, as he is stated to be multiversal, the culmination of all types of matter and a combination of "all chaos and possibilities", with the implication being that he is a primordial chaos entity and potentially the oldest and/or most powerful being in its canon.
* PlayingWithFire: In his first form, he can imbue his giant swords with fire, allowing him to shoot large streams of fire when he strikes the ground with them. As Void, he borrows Drawcia Soul's Deadly Sun attack by turning into a giant fireball and dashing across the screen five times.
* RainOfBlood: Upon entering Void Termina's body for the first time, droplets of harmful red liquid (dubbed "Red Tears") fall on Kirby and co. in a likely reference to Zero.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: His first and third forms in Soul Melter EX have this color scheme.
* RedEyesTakeWarning:
** Downplayed in the main campaign. His fourth phase has his core occasionally sporting a big red-orange eye, but no other phase has this.
** Played straight in Soul Melter EX. True Void Termina's Demon God/Angel forms replace the mask's hollow black eyes with intimidating red ones, and Void gains a crimson-red eye when assuming his Zero/Dark Mind form.
* ReflectingLaser: Void can summon mirrors to reflect his lasers as a reference to [[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheAmazingMirror Dark Mind.]]
* {{Reincarnation}}: The description for Void Soul suggests that the form he reincarnates in depends on what energies were used to summon him. Additionally, the names of the second and fourth movements of his theme, along with the BossSubtitles of his true form, "Astral Birth", implies that Void Termina as seen during the main story hadn't fully reincarnated, likely due to Hyness screwing up the ritual.
* ReusedCharacterDesign: The second phase of the fight appears to be inspired from a scrapped idea for [[https://i.redd.it/nfzjm5efj1h01.jpg Star Dream's fight]] presumably back when Star Dream was meant to be a robot version of Zero Two.
* RhymesOnADime: The descriptions of his phase one and three make up the lyrics to an ominous VillainSong urging [[OmnicidalManiac omnicide]].
-->''Rise! Oh, Dark Lord of Despair! Crush the stars! Lay waste to care! Rise and cover the land in sorrows! May your symphony of emptiness bring the end of all tomorrows!''
-->''Rise! Oh, Dark Lord of Despair! Crush the stars! Lay waste to care! Upon your wing, dark judgment bring! May your symphony of tragedy cause the end of everything!''
* SadBattleMusic: During the last phase of the definitively final battle against it in Soul Melter EX, the high-tempo DarkReprise of Song of Supplication and Green Greens used for the previous two incarnations of said fight is overwritten by a much slower, much more somber remix of said themes, even incorporating ''the original'' 8-bit Green Greens in there. It's perfectly fitting for such a conclusive farewell to a game.
* SatanicArchetype:
** He is called the "Destruction God", and can be called forth with HumanSacrifice. Also, he is a being fallen from light, turned into a harbinger of darkness, heavily implied to be responsible for several of the evils in the world. His body even looks almost satanic, with menacing horns and a colossal, dark-stained figure.
** The official names of his forms ([[AllThereInTheManual as revealed in Nintendo Dream]]) don't even bother trying to hide the connections, with his humanoid form being called the "Demon God" form and the bird form named the "Angel" form. It should be noted that one of the attacks the "Angel" form can use is known as "Fallen Heaven".
** In the Japanese and Chinese versions, Astral Birth Void's BossSubtitles are 星誕 ("seitan"), which in the former is pronounced like "Satan".
* SealedEvilInACan: He was sealed within the Jamba Heart, which itself was sealed together with four mysterious heart spears.
* SelfDuplication: Void Soul can split into four duplicates in two of his attacks. Void has this as well.
* SequentialBoss: As per recent ''Kirby'' final bosses, with a total of four phases. Plus an extra phase in Story Mode, although (like Star Dream's final phase) it's only done in QuickTimeEvent.
* ShadowArchetype: He is a spherical being of infinite power who is hell-bent on devouring everything that would stand in his way... not unlike ''Kirby.''
* ShapeshifterSwanSong: When its fourth/soul form is defeated, its face shifts into several others before it is destroyed.
* ShieldedCoreBoss: Phase 2 consists of this, and you then fight the core itself in Phase 4.
* ShockwaveStomp: One of his attacks in humanoid form. His core has a similar GroundPound attack, but on a far smaller scale.
* ShoutOut: You can try comparing his body and face with that of [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/evangelion/images/e/e4/Sachiel.png/revision/latest?cb=20120210052304 Sachiel]] of ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion''. The boss's mask also resembles [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Majora]].
* SpikeBallsOfDoom: One of his fourth phase's attacks is to sprout long spikes all over his body, referencing the Needle form of [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards Miracle Matter.]] This is called Laughing Needle.
** Void Soul and Void -- Astral Birth combine this with DoppelgangerAttack for "Full Smile".
* SpontaneousWeaponCreation: He has the power to call forth giant [[ElementalWeapon elemental bows]], spears, axes, swords, and a laser-spamming [[VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand Master Crown]].
* StarPower: His absolute final form, Void, is called the "Astral Birth" (i.e., ''stellar'' birth), and he's far and away [[PhysicalGod one of the most powerful characters in the setting]]. It's just one more trait Void and Kirby share.
* SwordBeam: One of his attacks in his first form (done with his arm blades) creates an X-shaped one.
* TopGod: Astral Birth Void is very, ''very'' heavily implied to be as close as the ''Kirby'' franchise is going to get to a [[{{God}} capital G God]]. In his Japanese pause screen descriptions, Void is mentioned to be the progenitor of all forms of matter Dream, Soul, Darkness, and Heart, and that all chaos and possibilities can be traced directly back to him, and his English pause screen descriptions establish him as being Omnipresent in all dimensions. If true, this means that absolutely ''everything'' in the Kirby multiverse, including the multiverse itself, would not have come to exist if Void didn't passively spawn them, including reality bending entities such as Fecto Elfilis, the Master Crown, and so on.
* TopHeavyGuy: His first form has a large upper body, but small, flat legs.
* TrueFinalBoss: Void Soul and Void, who can both only be fought in the Ultimate Choice, in Soul Melter and Soul Melter EX, respectively.
* TurnsRed: After he uses his BattleBoomerang attack for the second time, Void starts using attacks borrowed from [[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheAmazingMirror Dark Mind]], [[VideoGame/KirbyCanvasCurse Drawcia Soul]], and [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Zero]], and ''only uses those attacks'' for the rest of the battle.
* UnexpectedShmupLevel: The battle against him becomes a flying ThirdPersonShooter-esque due to Kirby using the Star Allies Sparkler. Subverted for his second and fourth phase, however, where Kirby and co enter his body and then fight on foot.
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: ''Kirby Star Allies'' is mostly a cutesy, colorful game about making friends and fighting cartoon monsters. Its FinalBoss is the eldritch GodOfChaos worshipped by an ApocalypseCult, and the game makes clear in no uncertain terms that Void Termina has the potential to destroy ''everything'' if not stopped.
* VillainSong: ''The Star-Conquering Traveller'', his boss battle theme, has lyrics that appear on the pause screens of his first and third forms. For his "True Destroyer of Worlds" form in Soul Melter EX, those same pause screens helpfully provide some context for where the lyrics are meant to accompany the actual piece... at least, in the Japanese version. Localizations [[LostInTranslation don't follow the rhythm as closely]].
* VolcanicVeins: Void replaces the core's standard pattern of rippling waves with rainbow-shimmering veins, which combined with the white body, makes it resemble a FacelessEye.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: He grows wings and a tail in his third phase, giving him a [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards resemblance]] to 0[[superscript:2]]. His core shapeshifts in-between attacks, using the forms of [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand2 Real]] [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Dark Matter]] and [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards Miracle Matter]]. Additionally, his face -- normally similar to Kirby's — also wildly changes shape, occasionally including the false face of 0[[superscript:2]]. Void not only shapeshifts into, but takes on the color palettes of [[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheAmazingMirror Dark Mind]], [[VideoGame/KirbyCanvasCurse Drawcia Soul]] and [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Zero]] when it uses certain attacks.
* WalkingSpoiler: '''''This cannot be emphasized any further.''''' He's not only the final boss, but he also has a ton of spoiler-heavy lore surrounding him. And with how much of it he brings to the table, there's a reason for why his folder is unmarked.
* WaveMotionGun: A few of his attacks can be classed as this. It also uses one during the BeamOWar with Kirby.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Downplayed — throwing a Friend Heart at his core (including Void Soul and Void) [[HeartBeatDown will deal damage to it]], though not a titanic amount. [[EasterEgg No other bosses in the game]] [[OutsideTheBoxTactic have this weakness.]] It's also a call-back to the Love-Love Stick in ''Dream Land 3'', that shoots hearts, being the only thing that can hurt Zero.
* WhamLine: His True Destroyer of Worlds pause description in Japanese, Chinese and Korean reveals one of the biggest ones in the entire franchise.
-->Dream, dark, soul, heart... All chaos and possibilities assemble within its substance, [[GreaterScopeVillain being born as the ancestor and origin of all]].
* WhamShot:
** Several of the shapes his core can take count as this. In order: the faces of ''Kirby'' and 0[[superscript:2]], and the form of '''Real Dark Matter.''' [[FiveSecondForeshadowing Moments before that]], the insides of his body also brings to mind the Dark Star, i.e. where 0[[superscript:2]] reigns in ''64''.
** His Angel form begins his phase by summoning himself a pair of red and white crystalline wings, adding to the concerning amount of nods to 0[[superscript:2]] that it contains.
** As his last attack, Void Termina's Angel form summons '''the Master Crown''', and the "hilts" of his arm-blades in his first form also look like the Master Crown.
** A huge one is dropped in his truest form - when Void materializes with a rainbow-veined variation of '''Zero's''' color palette, hammered home by the boss card using the ''[[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Boss Butch Hyper Zone]]'' for its background.
** The final one to end them all - Void's death animation ends with Void smiling with '''Kirby's''' famous smile as the screen fades to white, his smile being the last thing to disappear as it emits lightbeams... and ''stars''. It's worth nothing that almost immediately after this cutscene, [[EpilepticTrees Retro Kirby is unlocked,]] and when you hit Void [[MeaningfulAppearance he turns pink for a brief moment]].
* WhiteAndRedAndEerieAllOver: Void is an entirely white orb with rainbow-like veins coursing through his body, while his eyes and mouth have a red hue.
* WickedHeartSymbol: Aside from the sigil of Hyness' cult appearing on its armor, his mask/face is heart-shaped, and after growing wings, he also has a tail made of hearts. A heart pattern also runs across part of the shell that houses his soul, i.e. his actual heart (which, ironically, is round-shaped).
* WombLevel: Behind Void Termina's mask is a portal that leads into the beast's fleshy innards. Kirby must enter him a total of two times to engage the essence controlling him and ultimately force it out of its host's body to deliver the final blow.
