One of the branch managers of Strickland Propane, he owns a business degree and makes several proposals to Buck. Whilst seeming to just be a suck-up, he is ultimately placed
in Tennessee.charge of the company when Buck suffers from a heart attack...and proceeds to screw up royally and is fired for it.

* AffectionateNickname: "Ray Roy" is one, as Buck couldn't be bothered to remember his name. As he tells Buck, his real name is Jody, but he doesn't care what Buck calls him.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Despite only meeting his father once, he shares his bottomless appetite for women, alcohol and his love of propane. To this end, he opened his own propane dealership - also called Strickland Propane - in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and used most of Buck's slogan in the process. He also knows Buck's plan of a "first class hospitality suite" without his father explaining it to him.
* {{Retcon}}: His only appearance has him outright say he's never met his birth father prior to the Propane Convention, although other episodes have Buck mention he's trying to sue him. Granted, considering this is Buck, it's possible he has other illegitimate children and much like Jody, never bothered to learn their names.
* UnseenNoMore: Throughout the show, Buck mentions he has an illegitimate son in another town named Ray Roy, especially in "The Buck Stops Here" and "Blood and Sauce."

to:

* AffectionateNickname: "Ray Roy" is one, as Buck couldn't be bothered BadBoss: Takes much satisfaction in sending Hank off on the demeaning job of feeding Buck's hounds, and orders Joe Jack and the other drivers to remember reinstall the tattlers, or he'll gladly fire them all. He also planned on doing drug tests on the other employees for no reason.
* {{Jerkass}}: Once in charge of Strickland with
his name. As "fancy business degree" he tells Buck, quickly shows himself to be this, lording his real name is Jody, but he doesn't care what Buck calls him.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Despite only meeting
perceived intellect on his father once, he shares new subordinates, gleefully putting Hank down, and outright putting tattlers in the trucks, alienating the drivers to quit.
* JerkassToOne: Took ''special'' glee in giving Hank flex time to feed Strickland's dogs. Of course, he's still enough of an asshole to everyone else that once Hank is out of
his bottomless appetite for women, alcohol hair, Joe Jack and the other drivers are his love next target of ire.
* LackOfEmpathy: A case that arises more from one-dimensional thinking than maliciousness, though he certainly has enough to factor it in nevertheless. Vickers thinks solely in the realm of models, such as supply-and-demand; ignoring how he was brought in to run the company through a blizzard, where many people in Arlen are in desperate need
of propane. To this end, he opened his own He raises the price of propane dealership - also called and strictly measures stopping times with tattlers, totally ignoring the real-world situation he is in.
* LaserGuidedKarma: His model-driven efforts to run
Strickland Propane - in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and used most his astounding lack of Buck's slogan people skills get him fired.
* NoSocialSkills: Even before his unpleasant nature truly came to light, he made no effort to really understand the culture of Strickland and his workers (having no idea of football and always pushing his business proposals for example). When he was put in charge, he treated people like models instead of, well, people, outright telling Joe Jack and the other drivers about tattler installation instead of realizing that this would make them angry. [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome The drivers quit and Buck fires him for his stupidity.]]
* OneShotCharacter: He only appears in "Snow Job". Justified in that he was fired thanks to his incompetence.
* PointyHairedBoss: A good example of his incompetence is how he intends to raise propane prices during a critical blizzard solely because of a perceived market demand rather than working with a problem
in the process. He also knows Buck's plan real world. Another example is how he had no idea of what a "first class hospitality suite" without his father Hazardous Materials license is, which is ''a critical aspect of managing a propane company in the first place''.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Was never seen before at Strickland Propane, yet Buck and Hank are very familiar with him, seeming to push him around quite a bit. This is justified as Season 2 established that there were other branches of Strickland Propane, and Vickers was the manager of one of them,
explaining it to him.
* {{Retcon}}: His only appearance has him outright say he's
why he was never met his birth father prior to the Propane Convention, although other episodes have Buck mention he's trying to sue him. Granted, considering this is Buck, it's possible he has other illegitimate children and much like Jody, never bothered to learn their names.

* HeelRealization: After his irresponsible hedonism at the induction into the Propane Hall of Flame for him from the National Propane Gas Convention causes Hank to drown his sorrows and unleash a seething rant at Buck on stage (followed by Hank vomiting onto one of the attendees), Hank is faced with possible expulsion from said group, which would devastate him. Peggy finds Buck and absolutely unloads on him about all the crap her husband deals with to keep Buck's business (and Buck himself) alive, and Buck realizes how badly he screwed up. He then spends the rest of the episode getting Hank to not only be forgiven, but inducted into the Hall Of Flame as well.

In "Meet the Propaniacs" Hank says that Buck insisted Luanne be part of the comedy group or he wouldn't pay for the t-shirts.

** His relationship with Hank is also very similar to LBJ's relationship with his right hand man (and later Vice President) Hubert Humphrey. Like Humphrey, Hank admires (and even platonically loves) Buck, and will bend over backwards to defend him and clean up his messes, even when his boss casually sidelines, isolates, and even outright abuses him all while still claiming to be his friend.

* HiddenDepths: He oftentimes shows an interest in and knack for comedy and showmanship. He indulges Bobby's prop comedy and was onboard with the Propaniacs right from the start.
