* AlternateCompanyEquivalent: Its role in ''Series/KamenRiderOutsiders'' as the embodiment of evil brings to mind [[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate Dharkon]] (Darz in the Japanese version) opposing their light counterparts, Zein and Galeem, respectively. And like Galeem though, Zein is anything but benevolent as it shown to be despotic in its crusade against malice, and the prospect of a world of [[WorldOfSilence eternal benevolence]] [[TotalitarianUtilitarian and]] {{order|IsNotGood}} would essentially deprive Ark of the malice needed to sustain its existence. Dharkon seeks to engulf all life in darkness, whereas Ark is [[EvilEvolves empowered]] by human evil and will continue to exist [[AsLongAsThereIsEvil so long as evil continue to fester within humans]].

* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler:Horobi tried to lead an uprising to kill as many humans as possible and on top of that murdered Izu, undercutting any good intentions for Humagears he may have had, and never shows remorse for it. Yet he gets let off completely at the end of the ''Ark-One'' arc and allowed to roam freely. It's subverted when he's killed in the ''Zero-One Others'' films, only to be double subverted in ''Kamen Rider Outsiders'' when he's the only [=MetsubouJinrai.net=] member brought back, something especially jarring since unlike Horobi the other three former members all renounced their past beliefs when they were freed from the Ark's control.

** [[spoiler:It's also this for ''Genms ~The Presidents~'', as it was the one who put Kuroto and Masamune Dan's Bugster viruses in Gai Amatsu.

* PragmaticVillainy: Ark fears Zein's very presence may upset the balance of the world, but that's merely out of the preservation of its own existence than a moral principle. Which makes sense because Ark's existence is sustained by human malice [[AsLongAsThereIsEvil so long humans still have the capacity for evil]] and depriving Ark human malice may eventually weaken it and eventually, it may cease to exist.

* BrokenTears: [[spoiler:Jin's second death left him in a bad place.]]

* FallenHero: [[spoiler:By the time he returns in ''Series/KamenRiderOutsiders'', he has become completely jaded with the current state of the world. The fact he defects with Zein's faction in hopes of eliminating Ark for good, not knowing the [[OrderIsNotGood full]] [[TotalitarianUtilitarian picture]] of Zein's [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans actual end goal]] is basically a [[HistoryRepeats repeat]] of his past mistake of his devotion to Ark.]]

In a fight, Horobi has to rely on his skills, while Thouser heavily depends on the raw strength of his Rider suit. Horobi has only been defeated thrice in combat, in contrast, Thouser get [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomped]] on a weekly basis after the other riders catch up to him. This is even more apparent with their shifting allegiances in ''Series/KamenRiderOutsiders'': Gai had no other options but to approach the Ark when Zein is introduced, and Horobi immediately sided with Zein after his revival. Gai fears that Zein's influence upon the world will upset the BalanceBetweenGoodAndEvil along with the fear of an AI autocracy, Horobi wants nothing more but Ark eliminated by all means necessary, at the risk of upsetting the said balance and willing to sacrifice the freedom of humans ''and'' Humagear alike so Zein can impose its [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans malice-free utopia]].

* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:Unlike [[OmnicidalManiac Ark]], Horobi claims his desire to destroy humanity is fueled by a wish to see [=HumaGears=] live in peace. At the same time, his willingness to destroy any Humagears who do anything to slight him undercuts his purported intentions. The realization he's become just like the Ark is what leads to his HeelFaceTurn.]]

* OutlivingOnesOffspring: For ten episodes until Jin comes BackFromTheDead. [[spoiler:Then, he lost his son again in #43.]]

* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:After being absorbed into Kamen Rider Metsuboujinrai, the V-cinema ''Vulcan & Valkyrie'' reveals that all the members are obliterated with no chance of recovery as their data was smashed together to create it, and becomes lost permanently once it is destroyed. Horobi, however, [[AvertedTrope is brought back to life]] in ''Kamen Rider Outsiders'', having been rebuilt by Foundation X for their "Project Outsiders" plan.]]

* AsLongAsThereIsEvil: By the end of the series, the Ark is treated as being the concept of malice itself rather than any specific machine. Anyone could become the new Ark if they fell hard enough into despair that they wanted to bring the whole world down with them, [[spoiler:even Aruto]].

* BeyondRedemption: Unlike most of the other main antagonists, who are merely ''driven'' by malice and hate, the Ark has become ''consumed'' by it to the point it might as well have become the AnthropomorphicPersonification of it. [[spoiler:As such, while almost every other antagonist in the series (including [[TheSociopath Gai]]) gets redeemed, the Ark does not.]]

* EvilCounterpart: It serves as this to Zea. When it is reactivated, this extends to ''manufacturing Progrisekeys.'' As the Ark Driver-Zero, it can produce all the same weapons and belts that its GoodCounterpart can.

* KnightTemplar: [[spoiler:His alliance with Zein boils down to this after his revival. He made it clear that [[EvilWillFall Ark will disappear, and all malice will die with it]] and Zein will restore order to the world, even in the [[BewareTheSuperman most]] [[OrderIsNotGood extreme]] way possible.]]

* KilledOffForReal: Subverted. [[spoiler:With the destruction of Zea at the hands of Raiden and Subaru and his physical body destroyed by Aruto and Horobi, it seems the Ark is truly dead, but ''Genms ~The Presidents~'' shows the Ark survived and is freely roaming the Internet.]]

* HateSink: It's safe to say that ''everyone'' despises it in some way. While for our heroes (and Gai), it's obvious, [=MetsubouJinrai=].net takes some time to realize that the Ark isn't the WellIntentionedExtremist it makes itself out to be and turns their backs on it the moment it shows its true colors.

* BeyondRedemption: Unlike most of the other main antagonists, who are merely ''driven'' by malice and hate, the Ark has become ''consumed'' by it to the point it might as well have become the AnthropomorphicPersonification of it. [[spoiler:As a result, while every other main antagonist in the series (except As) is ultimately redeemed, the Ark is the only one who the only thing the heroes can do is put it down and then resist its lingering will in the form of As.]]

* FreudianExcuse: Gai intentionally exposed it to all the worst aspects of humanity during its learning phase with the expressed intent of giving it a hatred of humanity. It then spent a decade rotting, immobile at the bottom of a lake with nothing to do but think over everything Gai had shoved into it. It's little surprise it turned out to be an AxCrazy, human despising killer AI.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: By time it’s revived it has degraded to this, trying to kill everyone more or less for the sake of it and little else.

* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:With the destruction of Zea at the hands of Raiden and Subaru and his physical body destroyed by Aruto and Horobi, the Ark is truly dead with the production crew confirming it with his voice actor finished recording his lines with #41. However it only means that the original incarnation of the Ark died and so long as there's hatred another being could become another Ark. Subverted by ''Genms ~The Presidents~'', which shows the original Ark survived and is freely roaming the Internet.]]

* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler:Even though he was attempting a FinalSolution on humanity not long before, the epilogue shows he's basically been let free to do whatever he wants. By ''Film/KamenRiderZeroOneREALxTIME'' everyone seems to have forgotten that he's the one who killed Is too, and when the new Is appears no one points out that he's the one who destroyed the old one. This ends up causing a problem in Others because Arkland is able to discredit A.I.M.S. and Hiden Intelligence by pointing out that they made nice with a murdering terrorist and did not make any attempt to punish him and his group despite knowing where they were simply because they believed he felt guilty about everything and that made it ok. It also means when he accuses Metsubou Jinrai of being dangerous again neither Fuwa or Yua can really counter his point without making it sound like they condone Horobi's former actions.]]

Horobi is brainwashed into evil thanks to the Ark and has no free will, whereas Gai has commits many atrocities out of his own volition.

* HeroicWillpower: "Heroic" doesn't really apply to Horobi per se, but he did gain a gigantic amount of willpower in #41, [[spoiler:shaking off the Ark's influence through sheer parental instinct.]]

* {{Bishonen}}: He may be a BrainwashedAndCrazy villain, but damn is he ''hot''. What probably helps is that the main cast described his actor as the most handsome of the bunch.

* DarkChick: She's the Ark's "secretary" and devoted female messenger, but doesn't appear to be much of a combatant. Instead, as shown with her gathering Singularity data from the other [=MetsubouJinrai.net=] members and corrupting Aruto, As uses emotional manipulation.

* BadassBaritone: Erring on more of the tenor side, Horobi usually speaks in a husky voice and is probably one of the most deadly characters on the show, despite not getting any upgrades.

* WhipItGood: The Acid Analyze stinger on Horobi's wrist can extend on a prehensile tentacle, allowing him to dispose of evidence from well out of sight. It is also used in this way for his Rider Kick. This is later upgraded into the more powerful Destanalyze stinger with Ark-Scoprion, along with the ability to manifest it from anywhere on his body.

* DragonAscendant: Subverted. After Zero-Two, Horobi and the Uchuyaro Brothers [[spoiler:destroy the Ark]], Horobi decides to [[HumansAreTheRealMonsters resume his own goal of destroying humanity]] out of fear [[GodzillaThreshold they can produce something like it again. He ends up becoming a pawn to the manipulations of As, though he's still TheHeavy and FinalBoss.]]

* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:By the final episode, Horobi finally abandons his goal of destroying humanity. He instead looks over humanity with a close eye, making sure that they don't create a malicious figure like the Ark again.]]

* RedemptionEqualsLife: [[spoiler:Aruto spares Horobi in the finale, saying that there is no need to kill him anymore. Combined with the sheer compassion and kindness Aruto showcased earlier, it's enough for Horobi to give up on his goal of destroying humanity - instead creating a new [=MetsuboJinrai.net=] to look over humanity with a close eye just in case they make another Ark. Subverted in the end where Horobi ends up dying anyway later on in ''Others''.]]

* CrazyPrepared: Ark's greatest strength is its predictive ability. It's so advanced it can accurately strategize for almost any event, bar the actions of its opposite Zea. This goes beyond just how to defeat his enemies bt also [[spoiler:creating a key which, in the (in its view) unlikely event of its destruction, will allow it to continue to function when used by a human to transform into Ark-One]]. However, this is also its greatest weakness. As it is possible for it to be outsmarted by [[OutsideContextProblem anything it could not foresee]], like Kamen Rider Zero-Two, and in ''Series/KamenRiderOutsiders'', [[spoiler:[[Series/KamenRiderSaber Desast]] transforming into his own eponymous Rider form]].

* FatalFlaw: It's reliance on its predictions. As Ark is able to foresee any of its opponent's actions so long it has learned all of their course of action. However, any OutsideContextProblem that it never encountered will render Ark's predictions obsolete, such as Aruto's transformation into Kamen Rider Zero-Two and ultimately defeating Ark-Zero effortlessly, and [[spoiler:[[Series/KamenRiderSaber Desast]] transforming into his own Rider form instead of being asked to do Foundation X's bidding as it predicted, as a result of [[HeelFaceTurn his change of heart]] after meeting Ren.]]

* AssholeVictim: She is [[BoomHeadshot "shot" in the head]] by Lyon Arkland with just his FingerGun[[labelnote:*]]as it turns out, one of the Solds shot her on the head with a handgun, thus giving the illusion of the finger gun firing a live round.[[/labelnote]]. Though Horobi and Jin at least felt the need to give her something of a funeral.
