* ThemeNaming: All of the characters are named after alcohol— Ardbeg and Balvenie are kinds of scotch known for its heavy and smooth sweetness, especially accounting for their 18 year bottles. Bacardi is a kind of rum, Rosé is a type of wine, specifically White Rose brand (Interestingly, she shares a name with the protagonist of the novel Rose Blanche, although the two seem unrelated). Agave, while not directly being an alcohol, is an ingredient used in some types of alcohol, like tequila. Tineballan's name is a version of Ballantine scotch.

*BodyHorror: While Happy Birthday Balvenie gives us an explanation for the bandages on Balvenie's arms, we haven't been given one for Ardbeg's as of yet. His, notably, extend all the way to his hands, whereas Balvenie's stop at her wrists. Ardbeg also has mysterious head bandages, which we also don't have an explanation for yet. Couple that with his interactions with Bacardi, and Ardbeg is probably the character with the most body horror in the whole series. .....And that's saying something.

* PresicionFStrike: While Bacardi does swear occasionally, its usually all censored like the other swearing on the channel....except for Magical Operation #3, where he has a very clearly written out "Fuck". What makes this hilarious is that this is the only instance of uncensored swearing on the ENTIRE CHANNEL, with Jo_Sipu using songs without any swearing and even cutting out the part of The Distortionist that swears....which makes this one particular instance incredibly funny.

with black hair in her original trilogy of videos and in the character creator (notably, only her hair option is black, whereas Rosé herself has bluish-purple hair when she briefly appears later), purple hair in the remainder of the series, and a white-haired variant of herself that strongly resembles Balvenie. While the black hair to purple hair switch may be purely aesthetic, considering her original videos having only a black, white and red color scheme, the white hair makes her look like an entirely different character. She also appears with white hair in The Red Shoes. [[spoiler: Balvenie herself also has some ambiguity surrounding her- namely her identity in the real world and what is happening during the course of the videos. There are several hints that Balvenie may be some kind of idol, which Candle Queen, Doctor and Choke imply, but nothing has been confirmed yet. There are also hints that she may be hospitalized, which seems especially prevalent in Happy Birthday Balvenie.]]

Tineballan is the only character whose name seemingly has no meaning attached.

*BreakTheCutie: Seemingly the entire purpose of Happy Birthday Balvenie. Several upsetting events happen to Balvenie during the course of the game, which she mostly handles with her typical cheerful nonchalance, but she seems noticeably withdrawn and upset during the real world segments. [[spoiler: However, this is taken to an extreme when Balvenie is forced to relieve the memory of Tineballan's suicide, which causes her to grow so upset she harms herself in an attempt to revive Tineballan by giving her her blood, with Balvenie hopelessly pleading for Tineballan not to die. Despite the lines only being text, the clear desperation in her voice is obvious. This is made even worse by this scene ending Balvenie's portion of the game, meaning we have to imagine her reaction to being forced to remember this.]]
