* In "I Thought You Were Stronger", [[spoiler:he assures Mark that he isn't like his father just because he killed Angstrom in a rage, as Angstrom had been the one who decided to threaten and harm Mark's family.]]

* FlawedPrototype: Of the SuperSoldier variety, as noted below. He's far more powerful than any other member of his race... but Allen was intended to be able to ''defeat Viltrumites'', so he was considered a failure when his base level of strength was considered "only" equal to a young Viltrumite (a species that grows StrongerWithAge). [[spoiler: However, this flips into SuperPrototype when Allen manages to survive a horrific beating by a team of three Viltrumites and his body [[AdaptiveAbility adapts to overcome what he couldn't defeat before]]. The scientists that created him simply misunderstood how his powers worked.]]

* HighTurnOverRate: GDA burns through a lot of its personel. A LOT. Usually soldiers in the field but a good chunk of the support staff and upper managment too. No one's happy about it but they power on through it. Even willingly wiping their minds if trauma gets too bad.

* EliteMook: A pretty hard deconstruction of one. Donald is middle management in the GDA. Which usally makes him team leader in an agency that cycles through soldiers on a pretty regular basis. Crippled for life on a lucky day. Donald is no exception. His body broken, mauled, smashed- killed just as any of his men. Thing is, Donald is so good at his job. So connected. Dedicated to his work. The GDA thinks he's valuable enough to revive. Again and again through cybernetics. Losing more and more of himself each time to the point Donald willingly wipes his mind to escape the trauma that no human could ever go through.
* EmergencyTransformation: [[spoiler:Cecil salvaged his brain to turn him into a FullConversionCyborg after Nolan squished him.]]

* RoboticReveal: Though he didn't know. [[spoiler:Cecil had him rebuilt as a cyborg with most, if not all, his memories intact. Unfortunately for Cecil, that includes Cecil's ''login information'' that the original stole at some point. Donald is horrified when he uses it to watch the video of the original being murdered by Omni-Man, and later stabs himself and seeing the knife bend.]]

* WeCanRebuildHim: [[spoiler:Most of his body was destroyed in the blast (in addition to various other grusome injuries) but his brain was intact. This allowed Cecil to transfer what was left of him into a cyborg body]].

* RecruitingTheCriminal: The GDA is not against this. Taking captured criminals and forcing them into active service. Much like the comics. Though a bit of AdaptionalHeroism is in play. In that the villains are never allowed in the field and only used passively. Never allowed even a bit of power or freedom. Also, pretty open about it too. No one likes it, but they've learned to live with it.

* TheMenInBlack: Mark, the son of a superhero, had never heard of them until they brought him and his mother to their base. Donald Ferguson tells him that's the point and it's implied that they deal with a number of threats daily that the public has no clue about.

* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: [[spoiler:In the comic he is aware of his conversion to a cyborg and he has fully accepted it. In the show, his memories were wiped so he appears to just be figuring it out and is going through existential angst]].

* BadassNormal: Like Cecil, he has no powers [[spoiler:but still manages to wield a rifle big and powerful enough to make even Nolan wince when shot in the face, and then dodge Nolan's first attack, which is rather impressive considering he's dealing with someone who can move fast enough to ignite oxygen.]]
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Introduced as Cecil's stammering, seemingly gormless assistant with an uncanny resemblance to [[WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill Bobby Hill]], he shows surprising feats of bravery befitting the GDA director's NumberTwo, including assuming a martial arts pose when a {{Kaiju}}'s body was moving, [[spoiler:exorcising Damien Darkblood, and successfully [[HoldTheLine holding the line]] against Omni-Man for the precious few seconds it took his crew to escape.]]

* ShortLivedOrganism: Inverted. They age much faster than humans. The one sent to bring Mark to Thraxa complains that he's spent most of his life on the journey... one that only takes two weeks at maximum from Thraxa to Earth and back.

* FlyingBrick: He has a similar powerset to most Viltrumites: Super strength, durability, speed, endurance, reflexes, and agility. Although he has Telepathy added to all that. Unfortunately, at his current base power level, he's not quite on the same level of Flying Brick as even the weakest of Viltrumites.

* {{Expy}}: Of ComicBook/NickFury, being the leader of a global intelligence agency who's willing to take morally grey actions for the greater good.

* ComicBookFantasyCasting: He's designed to look like the creator of ''Invincible'', Robert Kirkman.
