* RealityWarper: As shown by a scene from ''WebAnimation/HelluvaBoss'', the scene from the "Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow" song where she was sitting on a cloud holding a puppy and cotton candy actually happened in-universe, meaning everything else in that song did as well. Given the song was completely spontaneous, this implies that she has an unspecified capacity for bending the reality of Hell to her whim. The backstory in the first official episode implies this is a power she inherited from her mother. She's also demonstrated the ability to conjure objects out of thin air, such as when she summons her plans for the hotel from a flaming portal on a table to show them to Adam.

* ThinkingUpPortals: Charlie has the power to teleport objects from another location to where she currently is via a portal she created. It turns out that she inherited this power from Lucifer, her father.

* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork: [[spoiler:During the first season, Niffty stands out as being AxCrazy while the other Hotel residents undergo Character Development. Ultimately, Niffty is the one who kills Adam after he is spared by Charlie and Lucifer.]].

** Quite a few in the original English version. Creator/KeithDavid once again plays a demon with a red and black color palette (''WesternAnimation/{{Spawn}}''), a cat (''WesternAnimation/{{Coraline}}''), a winged humanoid creature (''WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}}''), and a man in debt to a Voodoo-themed Friend On The Other Side (''WesternAnimation/ThePrincessAndTheFrog'').

* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Although Charlie is usually hard to anger and it's Vaggie regularly being this trope, "The Show Must Go On" shows that the former to be just as protective towards the latter. Throughout the battle with Heaven, Charlie is [[https://phoenixlionme.tumblr.com/post/742130529289355264 constantly following]] Vaggie around, being close by to help fend off any danger to her girlfriend. When fighting against the Exorcist Angels, Charlie initially kept saying ''"Sorry"'' every time she blocks or attacks them, only to use her full powers at a group heading towards Vaggie; and unlike her earlier apologizing, she screams, ''"Die, motherfuckers!"''. And when she sees her girlfriend is being attacked by [[GeneralRipper Lute]], at two different times, Charlie immediately tries to go and rescue Vaggie, only to be stopped both times by [[ArcVillain Adam]]. And when the Exterminators are defeated and [[spoiler:Adam dead]], Charlies gives a [[DeathGlare terrifying]] [[https://twitter.com/HanasakuShijin/status/1753276912858710234 glare]] at an injured and distraught Lute while protectively holding Vaggie with one arm; given Charlie's demeanor, summoning her demonic form, and [[TranquilFury cold]] words to Lute of "it's over", it's implied that besides being incensed at Lute for trying to kill Vaggie, Charlie may have been told by her girlfriend that it was Lute that maimed her three years prior.

* ActorAllusion: Charlie emphatically rejects using her status as princess to boss around people as being mean, quite fitting for a character whose voice actress was Cady in the Theatre/MeanGirls musical.

** Though she has good intentions, no amount of singing or emotional appeals gets Charlie's idea of redemption across to the sinner demons, who are all unrepentant bastards. Even her list is [[MissingStepsPlan shoddy and doesn't exactly explain just how to reach her goal]]. Her [[ZeroPercentApprovalRating lack of credibility]] isn't helping either. Not to mention that Charlie calling her potential clients cretins, sluts and losers in her song probably didn't endear her to them, as it shows that despite her good intentions, she's clearly harboring some level of disdain for them.

** She's initially friendly to Valentino, even after he [[LecherousLicking lecherously slobbered over her arm]], but when she sees him abusing Angel she immediately starts to go into her OneWingedAngel form to confront him, only stopping when Angel gets between them.

* TheFettered: Implied. She holds back in her fight with Katie Killjoy, and lets a sketchy demon like Alastor help with the hotel because doing so otherwise would go against her belief that everyone deserves a chance to be redeemed. The season one finale really shows off her unwillingness to harm people, carrying a shield into battle and using sparkles and magic fireworks to attack; even fighting Adam, she's unable to fully tap into her powers.

* TeamMom: Charlie is an ultimately sweet and altruistic caretaker who genuinely loves the people she takes under her care and wants to see them improve, even if they sometimes need wrangling to stop their worst impulses from guiding them. At first all the residents see this as obnoxious CondescendingCompassion stemming from Charlie being a clueless noblewoman who is completely disconnected from the suffering of the average Sinner, but as the series progresses they gradually begin to accept it as the sincere, nurturing compassion it really is. It also clearly means a lot to Charlie, as she's driven to InelegantBlubbering when Angel forgives her for getting him in trouble with Valentino.

** While it was unnecessarily rude to bring up the Hotel residents' flaws, Husk is accurate about every one of them -- Charlie is desperate to help others but doesn't confront her own issues, Vaggie judges others because she hates herself, Sir Pentious is a lonely Sinner who watches people in their sleep, and Angel puts on an act that he's happy about his porn star job but is really miserable.

* BadLiar: She's repeatedly shown to be an extremely bad liar, most notably when she doesn't want to go visit Heaven with Charlie and the best excuse, she can think of is [[INeedToGoIronMyDog "I have that thing"]]. Serves as early {{Foreshadowing}} of her actually being an angel who naturally wouldn't have much experience with lying. She even realizes it InUniverse:

* BloodKnight: Possibly due to her angelic nature, Vaggie actually enjoys violence and fighting. She was one of Heaven's top exorcists raking up thousands of kills by herself, her idea of a bonding exercise is to take the Hotel patrons out to a battlefield and have them look out for each other, and right before the battle Vaggie admits that she's really excited and hasn't been able to stab anything and really mean it for a long time. * BigSisterInstinct: When Vaggie is throwing the hotel's staff and residents into an active war zone, Niffty demands to be tossed but Charlie yells, "Vaggie, no!" and grabs her.

* YouCantGoHomeAgain: Vaggie is originally from Heaven and was an Exorcist Angel. However, when she spared a demon child, Lute gouged her eye and tore off her wings, leaving the former incapable of returning home.

* KarmicJackpot: Vaggie was once a ruthless and bloodthirsty Exorcist Angel but couldn't bring herself to kill a Sinner child and let him escape. However, her superiors discovered her act and punished her for it. She would've most likely died of her wounds if she hadn't been found and nurtured by Charlie on that same night. While most of her past as an Exorcist is still a mystery and Vaggie sparing the Sinner child cost her place in Heaven, it's implied she was disillusioned with her old home before she had been abandoned. Even so, with her act of mercy, Vaggie would start a happily committed relationship with Charlie, one of the gentlest and kindest people in all of Hell. And through helping Charlie with the Hotel, Vaggie would also gain genuine friends who would protect and care for her.
* KickedOutOfHeaven: Vaggie was previously a soldier in the exorcist angels' legions before getting her wings cut off by her superiors for allowing a demon child to run away, dooming her to remain in Hell.

* AngerIsNotEnough: Has to learn that all her anger and self-loathing won't be enough to fight against the extermination, and that she has to dig deep into ThePowerOfLove in battle instead of the PowerOfHate.

* GlurgeAddict: To the Princess of Hell, sunshine and rainbows might as well be food and drink. She's is constantly gushing and squealing about cute or wholesome things and is overall a very maudlin and easily excited woman.

* FriendlessBackground: Faustisse revealed that outside of Charlie she doesn't have any friends. This might be because most of her friends are in Heaven.

* BadLiar: She's repeatedly shown to be an extremely bad liar, most notably when she doesn't want to go visit Heaven with Charlie and the best excuse she can think of is [[INeedToGoIronMyDog "I have that thing"]]. Serves as early {{Foreshadowing}} of her actually being an angel who naturally wouldn't have much experience with lying. She even realizes it InUniverse:

* CharacterizationMarchesOn: A minor case. In the Pilot, she was vocally opposed to Husk running a bar at the hotel, saying their job is to ''discourage'' sin and that alcohol would just be temptation, leaning closer to a DryCrusader. In the series proper, she's a lot more open to the idea, even telling Angel Dust off for flirting with Husk so he could focus on his job, and Husk later stating she regularly drinks there, letting him hear her woes when she succumbs to InVinoVeritas. She was also much more irritable with other demons, not hesitating to yell at them for their behavior (especially Angel Dust who is their sole patron), but in the series, while bossy, she doesn't seem nearly as angry or fed up. Lastly, the pilot treats her as a ButtMonkey, having her be disrespected or ignored by multiple characters, she's taken much more seriously in the show.

* CuteLittleFangs: While not as prominent as Charlie's, Vaggie's are visible on occasion. (They were especially notable during the Pilot, where [[ScaryTeeth her entire mouth would occasionally seemed to be filled with them]], but that appears to have been a bit of early character design that was changed.) Interestingly, she does not appear to have had them prior to her fall. Though given that Lucifer has a far more [[OneWingedAngel monstrous, inherently demonic form]] despite still being a (fallen) seraphim, it's most likely that prolonged exposure to Hell causes angels to slowly adapt more demonic traits. This is supported by the fact Lucifer was banished since the accidental creation of Hell, while Vaggie was punished and kicked out from Heaven 3 years before the events of the pilot.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Heavily implied, since in "Scrambled Eggs," her idea of building trust among the crew is how she learned trust: serving in combat together. Though it turns out, her own past was more complex. She may or may not have been involved in Hell's many turf wars, but the truth is that she was a former Exorcist partaking in the annual purge when she realized a demon she was hunting down was just a child, and sparing the kid cost her everything. And while not fully explored, Vaggie's sour expressions throughout the performance of "Welcome to Heaven" also implies that even before she was abandoned, she had grown disillusioned with Heaven.

* TheDogBitesBack: When she was an exorcist angel, Adam let Lute slash out her eye and tear off her wings for the sin of sparing a demon child, and they left her for dead in Hell. Then, he tried to blackmail her into helping them shut the hotel down, and revealed her past to Charlie to try and ruin their relationship. So when he dies a humiliating and painful death as Niffty stabs him numerous times, Vaggie watches the spectacle with a huge smile and enjoys watching her ex-boss get what's coming to him.
* DrillSergeantNasty: She tends to act like drill sergent whenever she tries to act authoritarian, such as in "Scrambled Eggs" when she forces Angel and Sir Pentious into a turf war battle so they can become FireForgedFriends and in "Dad Beat Dad" when she orders the staff to prepare for Lucifer's arrival. As she's a former Exorcist angel, who essentially act like soldiers, she likely learnt the attitude from her military-like training in Heaven.

** It ends up the same for the other side as well. While the telling traits get past everyone else in Heaven, Adam lampshades her overconfidence thinking he and Lute wouldn't recognise her with just a clothes and hair change.

* AffablyEvil: While she's normally very friendly and helpful, she's also working for one of the most feared overlords in Hell, and there's a definite psychopathic side to her personality. It would be safe to say that Niffty is too unhinged to be properly evil because her disturbed mindset leaves her lacking much of a capacity for maliciousness. Even when slaughtering mother bugs in front of their offsprings her sadism is in service to the goal of cleaning the hotel before anything else. However when something sets off her psychotic tendencies she is extremely dangerous and utterly amoral willing to hurt anyone for any reason that makes sense in her distorted mind.

* CharacterizationMarchesOn: In the pilot Niffty is quickly shown to be vocal about her StayInTheKitchen views for her limited screen time, but come the series proper she's more simply manic and deranged as opposed to having DeliberateValuesDissonance.

* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: [[spoiler:Is the one who deals the finishing blow to Adam, a VERY high-ranking ''angel'', while being a relatively normal Sinner from Hell. Albeit, he was weakened from being hurt by Charlie and Lucifer.]]

* MoralityPet: To the entire hotel. She's the smallest and most vulnerable demon on the premises, and has a remarkable talent for getting herself into trouble. It's a testament to the success of Charlie's project and the basic decency of her staff and guests that all of them, including the hedonistic Angel Dust, the cowardly Sir Pentious, and the jaded Husk, keep an eye out for her to make sure she stays safe from Hell's many perils. Even Alastor finds her charming, and laughs with her when she gives him a crown of roaches.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: She's generally perky and comical, and even in more somber situations with the rest of the group, she doesn't tend to come off as particularly self-aware. Thus it really drives the point across how crushing [[spoiler:Sir Pentious' HeroicSacrifice]] is when even ''she'' is simply standing with a shocked solemn expression.

* PintsizedPowerhouse: Effortlessly picks up Charlie, despite being half her size. Plus she has the resilience to not get crushed by a huge wooden door.

* PsychoKnifeNut: Give her an edged weapon, and things get extremely messy extremely fast. [[spoiler:She spends the entire Exorcist invasion merrily ventilating downed angels' torsos with a Heaven-forged dagger, and doesn't even seem to notice when her latest victim turns out to be ''Adam himself''.]]

* TheAlcoholic: He drinks a lot of cheap booze, and tells Angel Dust that he can't [[DrowningMySorrows drown himself in alcohol]] because he's learned that doesn't work from experience. Fittingly, Alastor makes him the bartender.
* AlmightyJanitor: Husk is ostensibly ''just'' TheBartender for the Hazbin Hotel after being effectively conscripted by Alastor in the Pilot, and doesn't seem that much more powerful than the average Sinner as a result. He's a [[spoiler:former Overlord]] though, and has both the skill and experience befitting someone of that position to back it up, as demonstrated when he saved Angel from a group of thugs trying to date-rape him. The only reason he's stuck following Alastor is because [[spoiler:[[HowTheMightyHaveFallen he sold his soul]] to the Radio Demon to sate his gambling addiction.]]

* BrutalHonesty: Husk is not one to lie to people, and is perfectly willing to lay out the harshest of truths in order to back up whatever point he has to make. That being said, Husk never says hard truths without purpose - he points out that Angel Dust is a loser and an unhappy mess, but only does so to help him realise that not accepting himself will prevent him from improving, and accepting it will allow him to grow and actually have a chance at getting better.

* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Husk in the "Pilot" was a ''lot'' more grumpy than he is in the show proper, losing his temper at Alastor and not hesitating to show his disinterest in anything going on as long as it doesn't concern him. In the series, it's established he's still a jerk, but it's evident he cares, and his temper isn't as volatile and often warranted.

** Behind his grumpy exterior, Husk is actually very patient and it takes a lot to make him legitimately angry.

* LazyBum: Downplayed. He does his job competently, but Husk is fairly blunt about the fact he's only participating in the group's shenanigans because he simply cannot be bothered to protest. He ''does'' join bonding activities, but departs once it's no longer enjoyable for him showing he's more self centered than anything. He grows out of this a bit as the series goes on, and grows to care about the staff and guests.

** The supporter part comes in when on one occasion he goes after Angel Dust at Charlie's prompting, meaning doing more then the bare minimum Alastor requires, and on another encourages Angel Dust not to fall back into drug use as an escape.
* TheSponsor: In fulfilling his role as TheConfidant, he unwittingly becomes this to Angel Dust. He intervenes when he starts self-destructing and gives him a PepTalkSong in "Masquerade", and would later talk him out of taking party drugs in "Welcome to Heaven".

** Creator/KeithDavid's voice for Husk was initially much more gruff and gravelly, similar to Creator/MickLauer's performance. As the first season went on, it evolved to be much more smooth and similar to his ordinary voice.
