Then, after the Mage freed her, hoping to help reform her, Nerissa repaid her by killing her and stealing her identity.
* TragicVillain: Nerissa was once a heroic young woman who was close to her friends and had a loving girlfriend. However, her frustration with Kandrakar, her willingness to kill, and her obsession with power and control eventually cost her everything, now leaving her as just a bitter cynic trying desperately to recreate those happier days and prove she was right all along.
* UngratefulBastard: Her response to the Mage freeing her from her imprisonment was to kill and impersonate her.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She justifies herself by saying that every terrible thing she does is for the purpose of bringing peace to the Known Worlds.

* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: They prevent Tarakudo from killing [[spoiler: Nimue]] because their master's plan requires her to still be alive for now. And he's given a warning that the same applies to Jade.
* DreamWeaver: [[spoiler: The Master is capable of entering Hay Lin's psychic dreams and shutting them down.]]
* EldritchAbomination: A whole group of them. Their forms are fluid, constantly changing, with the only consistencies being having tentacles and too many eyes. And whatever the hell their master is, it's implied to be even worse.

* PlayAlongPrisoner: Turns out, he could have escaped his cell at any time. He just needed something to distract the guards. In fact, he was spending that time pumping the foundations of Cavigor full of his magic so he could collapse it whenever he finally got out.
* PlayingWithFire: As to be expected from a dragon, he has this ability.
* SealedEvilInACan: When introduced, he's been locked up in Cavigor's lowest level for 16 years.
* TakingYouWithMe: Was perfectly willing to die in Cavigor's collapse if it meant taking out Jade, Will, and Cornelia.
* UncannyValley: [[invoked]] Even before they could see him, something about the way Drago's voice sounded just felt ''wrong'' to Alborn and Miriael.
