She used to party, get high and was sexually active during her high school days, which resulted in her teenage pregnancy with Sadie. While traces of her wild personality still show and she sometimes acts childishly, it is clear that becoming a teen mom forced her to arguably mature from that time in her life.

* OpenMindedParent: She's immediately accepting when Sadie comes out as transgender, and even tries to get him puberty-blockers so he can kick-start his gender transition.

* StrugglingSingleMother: She works very hard to provide for her and Sadie, but wishes she could do more.

* TheUnfairSex: [[spoiler: She was sleeping with her ex-husband, Gregg, early in the series. He was married to a pregnant Nancy, but still loved Annie and eventually left his wife because of it. * BitchInSheepsClothing: A seemingly friendly, beleaguered single mom who begins extorting Beth, Ruby, and Annie after learning that their secret shopper business is a front for money laundering. [[WellIntentionedExtremist She's doing it to support her kids,]] but still gets unnecessarily aggressive and cutthroat, continually upping the amount she asks for and pressing the girls for money while their financial situations are no better than hers.
