* MaskOfSanity: While he puts on a front that makes it look like he ''has'' recovered somewhat after what happened, it's all for show. He's still ''severely'' unstable and at constant risk of another rampage, which nearly happened when Asia was kidnapped. It's because of this that Ajuka tells Sirzech's his plan to have Issei stop Rias' engagement to Riser won't work. The mere sight of Riser would likely set Issei off to the point that, even with the Phoenix's regeneration, Riser ''will'' die to Issei, and the Underworld will be ravaged in the process, a massacre occurring that not even the Maou, Azazel, and Michael would be able to stop.

* RageBreakingPoint: During their Rating Game, after the Gremory Peerage managed to take out his entire Peerage, ''including'' Yubelluna and Ravel, Riser becomes uncharacteristically calm at first, before absolutely ''losing it''. Namely because, he recognized their fighting style as resembling Issei's. But since publicly Issei is ''dead'', Riser mistakenly believes Sirzech's was so desperate to avert Rias' engagement, that he would willingly dig up Issei's grave and approached Jasmine and Vali to teach the Gremory Peerage. The entire area around him begins to grow hotter, and he openly declares to Rias she is unfortunately going to suffer what he thinks Sirzech's actions are.

* BunnyEarsLawyer: They're all rather eccentric and possess their fair share of quirks, such as Sirzech's being a siscon, Serafall liking to pretend to be a magicial girl, etc. They are ''still'' some of the most powerful beings in the Underworld, and demonstrated their strength when they, along with Azazel and Michael, managed to subdue a rampaging Issei, [[ScarsAreForever though not unscathed]].

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Sirzech's may be trying to act as TheChessmaster and getting Issei involved in the process, but he still feels bad for his once friend and wants him to get better, treating him with the proverbial kid gloves. [[spoiler:That comes to an end when Issei's actions nearly reignite the Great War after he sees Carnelian again, and nearly enters the Juggernaut Drive. Rather than continue trying to placate Issei, he vaporizes Carnelian's arm and puts her under arrest, then stares down Issei and demands he calm down. He likewise seemed prepared to ''fight'' Issei until Kuroka made herself known and used some talismans to forcibly calm Issei down.]]

* OutGambitted: She had assumed that even if she approached Issei at the engagement between Rias and Riser, Issei's ZeroPercentApprovalRating amidst the Devil's would make certain that any second hand accounts would paint her as the innocent party and Issei as the aggressor, backed by the political power of the Bael Family making her untouchable. Issei knew she'd tried that though, so he had Grayfia and Azazel unknowingly set up a special field that blocked all outgoing signals from the party aside from one: one that would be livestreaming his confrontation with her to ''all'' of the Supernatural, letting him reveal everything she and the Bael's had tried to silence with a gag order [[LoopholeAbuse since it didn't apply to a dead man]], all while she is kept helpless by the same order. As a result, Hell, Heaven, and the Fallen are sent into an uproar upon learning Issei could have allowed all three to have an increased birth rate had it not been for the Bael, that Issei had been the one responsible for many of their innovations that improved QOL, and that he was not only still alive at all, but had been {{railroad|ing}}ed by the Bael's all those years ago, all of which is more than enough to possibly reignite the Great War with how much everyone now ''hates'' the Bael. Add on Sirzech's having to blast off Carnelian's arm just to try appeasing Issei before he can enter the Juggernaut Drive, and Carnelian's plans have gone up in smoke.

* TheHeavy: When she makes her appearance at Rias and Riser's engagement, her internal monologue reveals she ''isn't'' the actual mastermind behind everything, she was just an OpportunisticBastard who chose to back the Bael's rather than stand by Issei during the incident.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: It's unknown what happened to him in the present day. While he was still around and an active part of Issei and Asami's lives in the past segments, he's completely vanished in the present segments. [[spoiler:Jasmine later clarified that Ichirou just flat out disappeared one day after the incident, the prevailing theories being he either ran away, or was DrivenToSuicide.]]

* ScarsAreForever: Like Azazel and Michael, they retain injuries from their subduement of Issei, though to different extents. Sirzech's and Falbium's scars have yet to be elaborated on, but Serafall's body is shown to twitch from phantom pain, and Ajuka [[EyeScream lost his right eye]].

* GreaterScopeVillain: She is ultimately the one responsible for Issei's DarkAndTroubledPast, having tried to rape him and then reincarnate him into her peerage, before turning the accusations on him when that failed, and TheAlliance is working to get Issei readjusted to society for when she inevitably returns.
* LivingMemory: She left an imprint of herself inside Issei, to the point it gives him night terrors if he sleeps for more than five hours. Rias and Asia end up meeting and repelling it after entering his mindscape after he had an episode.

* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Her real name is unknown, and she is referred to in the third person by everyone sans Issei, who only calls her "White".
** Ultimately defied in Chapter 20, with the reveal of her name: Carnelian Bael.

* IdiotHair: A particularly large one underneath her habit. First seeing it causes Issei to go AttentionDeficitOohShiny for a few seconds, remarking how perfect it looks.

* EyeScream: Like the other Maou, Azazel, and Michael, he was scarred as a result of subdueing Issei during his rampage. For Ajuka, he lost his right eye. While he originally used an artificial eye he created, after Diodora nearly sent Issei into another rampage, he destroyed it and took to wearing an eyepath as a mark of guilt.

* BadassNormal: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. He's ''still'' a power Devil on his own, but by the standards of the Bael clan, he is pitifully plain due to lacking the Clan's signature Power of Destruction. To compensate, he's pushed his body to the peak of physical fitness, and become one of the strongest young Devils by sheer training alone.

* LovableSexManiac: All Fallen bear an affinity for one of the SevenDeadlySins, and Azazel's is lust. He tends to be a pervert and lady's man, enough that when he tells the others in TheAlliance that Issei called him a "post-prime man whore", they all burst out laughing and he only had issue [[ITakeOffenseToThatLastOne with being called old.]] Issei goes as far as to consider him the one of the ''oldest'' living man whores in the mythical world.

* StalkerWithoutACrush: As kids, Vali had a big habbit of stalking Issei and pestering him for fights, which often ended with Issei paralyzing him and taping sex toys to his body before dropping him off at Azazel's. He'd only drop this after Issei asked him AndThenWhat.

** Issei hates two things with little exception: birds and the color White, the sole exception to the latter being Vali. When Kiba tried having his Falcon familiar monitoring him, Issei noticed and did [[NoodleIncident something]] to it that required it take a day off, only for Issei to spot it again thousands of meters above him, and cause the poor Falcon to refuse to ever return to Kuoh again. [[spoiler:Both become {{subver|tedTrope}}sions with the revelation both were involved with his DarkAndTroubledPast: his former friend "White" is the one who caused it, and a useless "Bird" (one of the Phenex clan) helped facilitate the incident.]]

* OnlyFriend: Or rather, friends. After his DarkAndTroubledPast, Issei had difficulty making and maintaining bonds. He has very few true friends anymore, being Vali and Sairaorg, the former of whom is largely acting as Jasmine's bodyguard, and the latter of whom he has little contact with anyway due to "White's" machinations.

* {{Irony}}: It's noted by several people that Issei absolutely ''[[WeUsedToBeFriends hates]]'' Riser, and would likely attempt to kill him should they meet again. [[spoiler:Riser however ''still'' cares about Issei and is torn up about his death, to the point that his mistaken belief that Sirzechs dug up Issei's grave just to avert the engagement sends him into a {{rage|BreakingPoint}}.]]

* WeUsedToBeFriends: A {{downplayed|Trope}} case, in that it was more VitriolicBestBuds, but Riser used to be rather close to Issei and Jasmine, the three even picking up an unconscious habit of synchronized drinking. The three of them were essentially a RagtagBunchOfMisfits. After Issei's incident however, according to Ajuka, were Issei to see Riser, he'd be set off and Riser would be ''dead'', regardless of the Phoenix's regeneration he possesses. [[spoiler:In a case of {{irony}} though, Riser ''still'' considers Issei a friend, and is deeply unsettled when the Gremory Peerage begins using his techniques, hitting his RageBreakingPoint when he thinks Sirzechs' dug up Issei's grave just to avert the engagement, openly admitting that he is still hurt by Issei's perceived death.]]

Formerly the heirs of several of the remaining 72 Pillars, they are the four strongest Devils in the Underworld, and were each given the titles of the original four leaders of the Devils. They all hold ties to Issei, and are acting behind the scenes to try and help acclimate him to society again, as well as hold off the one responsible for his condition.

* OnlyFriend: Or rather, friends. After his DarkAndTroubledPast, Issei had difficulty making and maintaining bonds. He has very few true friends anymore, roughly two total, one of which is Vali.

* NeverMyFault: She blames others for having to become a sex-worker in the United States, but she ''chose'' to return to America when Issei would have been more than willing to continue supporting her, so it's really her own fault.

* {{Hypocrtie}}: She expresses contempt for sanctimonious, opinionated people, but both traits describe her rather aptly.

* NiceHat: Dohnaseek has his trademark fedora, and Issei admits its a pretty cool one. It ultimately earns him the nickname "Hat Man" from Issei.

** Issei normally holds TheAlliance in contempt for his belief they abandoned him, and is very hard pressed to have ''any'' concern for them in the slightest. Yet of all of them, ''Grayfia'' is someone he seems to have a soft spot for, showing open concern for her when she tells him that she and Sirzechs are planning on revealing something that could drastically change their standing. [[spoiler:The implication that Grayfia is part of Issei's harem and that her five year old daughter Alicah is ''his'' daughter would explain his behavior: ''he still loves her''.]]

* MayflyDecemberRomance: {{Implied|Trope}}. Grayfia is one of the eldest living devils alive, being one of the last surviving members of the Lucifuge family ''and'' someone who partook in the Great War. And yet it's heavily implied that the father of her five year old daughter Alicah [[spoiler:''isn't'' Sirzechs, but ''Issei'', a physically human teenager who could have been no older than ''13'' at the time of Alicah's birth.]]

* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: With Sirzechs being a BunnyEarsLawyer, Grayfia is often in charge of making sure he actually does his work and doesn't spend too much time either goofing off or doting on Rias.

* HatesBeingTouched: Or rather, hates being touched without warning. Touching Issei without permission tends to send Issei into TranquilFury, but so long as he is warned and can prepare for it, he can handle it. The only exceptions to this are Asami and Asia, Asami due to Issei still having a soft spot for his mom, and Asia due to being a [[TheBeastmaster Dragon Tamer]]. [[spoiler:Rias and Akeno later realize individually that this stems from a fear of being close to people, and that Issei specifically hates being touched out of fear letting someone close to him will just hurt him again.]]

* MoralityPet: One of the only people capable of tethering him to sanity is his mother Asami. The moment anyone suggests touching her though, he risks losing it, and should someone actually go through with it, he completely snaps. [[spoiler:Later on, Rias and Asia both subconsciously become ones to him, Asia due to being a [[TheBeastmaster Dragon Tamer]] and a part of his hoard, and Rias due to her refusal to give up on helping him granting her some respect and a soft spot for her.]]

* TheBeastmaster: TheAlliance all refer to her as an unrecognized "Dragon Tamer", and had intended on trying to get one close to [[HatesBeingTouched Issei]] before she appeared. Once Michael and Azazel hear she not only managed to touch Issei, but hug him too without triggering a reaction, they can't decide whether her showing up in front of Issei was a ContrivedCoincidence, or if "White" is working behind the scenes again. According to Ddraig, Dragon Tamer's are individuals naturally in tune with Dragons, capable of bringing peace to their minds and instincts to the point of euphoria, and that the myth of Dragons kidnapping Princesses came from Dragons going to great lengths to claim Dragon Tamers, considering them more valuable than any precious metals or stones.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: He had secretly redirected Asia to Kuoh after her transport was attacked in the hopes of her being a [[TheBeastmaster Dragon Tamer]] and being able to help Issei. He not only failed to consider that this might be exactly as "White" ''wanted'', but underestimated just how obsessed his little brother was with claiming Asia, resulting in Issei nearly going on ''another'' rampage, alerting "White" to his location, and Ajuka having to publicly strip Diodora of his rights as head of the Astaroth family.

* OnlySaneMan: Among TheAlliance, the role ultimately falls on him. While the others are all celebrating Asia being a [[{{Beastmaster}} Dragon Tamer]] and how lucky they are she met Issei, Falbium points out the sheer unlikeliness of that being a coincidence, and that Asia's presence in Kuoh is a sign "White" is making a move for Issei again, whereas even with Sirzechs' plan they aren't ready.

** The reason Asia ended up lost in Kuoh. While Diodora was still the one who got her excommunicated and hired Dohnaseek, Kalawarner, and Mittelt to extract her Twilight Healing and deliver her body to his servants, the fact she was let out of their sight and just happened to find Issei, and also just happened to be a [[{{Beastmaster}} Dragon Tamer]] makes the Maou, more specifically Falbium, see it as too much of a ContrivedCoincidence, leading them to suspect White orchestrated it for when she returns for Issei. This not only derails Diodora's attempt at recruiting her into his peerage, it gets the Fallen caught by Issei and practically turned into his slaves. {{Downplayed|Trope}} later on, as while Falbium was right in his belief White was aiding Diodora and did this to find Issei, he was wrong about Asia meeting Issei on her own. The latter part was ''Ajuka's'' BatmanGambit to try and get Asia and Issei to meet early, thinking the two meeting would be good for each other and the presence of Issei would drive off everyone going after Asia, only for it to backfire thanks to his younger brother's outright obsession with Asia.

* MoralityPet: One of the only people capable of tethering him to sanity is his mother Asami. * SitcomArchNemesis: She sees Issei as hers, due to him easily managing to talk circles around her when she tried to get the moral high ground on her, leading her to repeatedly try again. Issei meanwhile sees her just as an annoyance, mainly due to the fact her antics make others pay attention to him when he just wants to be left alone.

* UnwittingPawn: Riser was ultimately made into a pawn years before the plot, and ended up a contributing figure in causing Issei's rampage. [[spoiler:"White" manipulated him into falling for her, then convinced him to slip drugs into Issei's drink to incapacitate him so she could try to reincarnate him. Afterwards, when she began eliminating people close to Issei after her false rape allegation, she kept him on her side, only to {{cuckold}} him when he was no longer useful to her.]]
* WeUsedToBeFriends: A {{downplayed|Trope}} case, in that it was more VitriolicBestBuds, but Riser used to be rather close to Issei and Jasmine, the three even picking up an unconscious habit of synchronized drinking. * VillainWithGoodPublicity: Implied as how she's still sucking air, despite all four Maou wanting her DeaderThanDead – amidst her maneuvering following her false rape accusation against Issei, she managed to make herself politically untouchable, namely due to being a Devil Noble.

* WeUsedToBeFriends: A {{downplayed|Trope}} case, in that it was more VitriolicBestBuds, but Riser used to be rather close to Issei and Jasmine, the three even picking up an unconscious habit of synchronized drinking. After Issei's incident however, according to Ajuka, were Issei to see Riser, he'd be set off and Riser would be ''dead'', regardless of the Phoenix's regeneration he possesses.

* DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnFemale: Any person who practices UsefulNotes/{{BDSM}} will say that one of the core elements to it is that it is SafeSaneAndConsensual for both parties. Jasmine however proceeds to dress like a dominatrix, forcibly tied Raynare up to a sibian with a ball gag in her mouth, and regularly whipped her as Raynare screams for help, just because [[DisproportionateRetribution Raynare accused her of padding her chest.]] When Issei comes across the whole thing, he just tells Jasmine that he told her Raynare had a good ass.

* ManipulativeBastard: In a case of {{irony}} considering what happened to him, Issei himself has become no stranger to manipulation tactics for the sake of ensuring he's left alone. Having little faith in the Maou, Azazel, or Michael, he's secretely begun setting into motion plans to both protect himself ''and'' undermine the Maou if need be. [[spoiler:One such plan being his attempt at stealing Raynare away from Azazel with promises of power.]]

* UnscrupulousHero: Ajuka was well known for playing dirty during the war, and is perfectly willing to engage in manipulation tactics even on his fellow Maou. While the peace brought from forming TheAlliance had dulled him, his little brother's attempt at killing Asia nearly causing Issei to rampage again made him decide [[LetsGetSerious to remind everyone why he stopped playing dirty in the first place.]]
