* AmbiguousSituation: It's been heavily hinted that ''White'' has a connection to the Phenex family, namely based on the fact that the Phenexs only began pushing for the engagement after Rias became one of the overseers of Kuoh, [[spoiler:and that Ghost claimed a "useless bird" was aiding ''White'' the night Issei was nearly forcibly reincarnated by her.]] Whether Riser himself is connected to her is unknown, and made even murkier when [[spoiler:Chapter 13 made a point to mention that his decision to stick close to Issei gained him the attention of ''someone'', though its not specified who.]]

* ArrangedMarriage: She's stuck in one with the third child of the Phenex family, Riser, much to her consternation. Issei theorizes, and TheAlliance operates under the belief, that the arranged marriage is actually something orchestrated by "White", due to the marriage forcing Rias to give up her position as overseer, and that the Phenex family only truly began pushing for the marriage to occur earlier than planned once Issei started attending Kuoh. Sirzech had intended on acclimating Issei in time for the marriage so he could intervene and get it called off, but due aforementioned pushing and Issei's much worse mental state than thought, the other members of TheAlliance all agree his plan won't work.

* LuminescentBlush: After meeting Jasmine and learning from her how to calm Issei down, she hears Jasmine explain that if Issei is given a LapPillow, his head needs to be positioned ''just'' right or he'll potentially pleasure them with cunnilingus. Thankfully for Rias, she was in the back of the group, so no one noticed her face turn as red as her hair [[spoiler:since that ''had'' happened that very morning, and to her embarrassment, [[CovertPervert she found him more pleasuring than her vibrators.]]

** According to Jasmine, he once ended up actually ''purring'' in front of her, something she [[NeverLiveItDown refuses to let him forget]].

* JerkassHasAPoint: What annoys people the most about him. Despite stating things in the most tactless way possible, it's noted he's rarely ''wrong'' in his assessments, quickly identifying other peoples FatalFlaws and wasting no time in letting them know about it.

* BrilliantButLazy: [[DeconstructedTrope Called out on this]] by Issei, who notes that despite having ''decades'' of experience over the devils, they are all when on their way to overtaking her in terms of ability due to her unwillingness to expand what few skills she does have. He even notes that basic exercise would have allowed her to reach four wings in the time she was with him [[spoiler: and that she has the potential to reach twelve with the proper training]].

* ThisIsUnforgivable: Much like Issei, he has little actual respect for the leading members of TheAlliance after they were forced to hang Issei out to dry. He's also angry at them in general for getting him and Jasmine involved in their "games", and declares that if they try to get them involved again, he won't hesitate to kill them.

* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: Despite his abrasive behavior, the one person he cares about more than anything is his mother Asami. Going after her is the fastest way to get on his shitlist, and while he'll still act rude towards her, she's the only one he ever openly shows his HiddenHeartOfGold to, and allows her to constantly DopeSlap him when he screws up or says something rude. On a more comedic note though, one of the fastest ways to get him awake is to claim Azazel is trying to charm her, in which he'll immediately wake up and threaten bodily harm on Azazel.

** He approached Tiamat and requested she join his future harem when he was 10 years old. Her response was to try and jump his bones. The incident scarred him mentally and makes him jumpy when she's brought up. Not helping matters is that they're technically engaged. Making it stranger is that Tiamat despises Ddraig for taking some of her treasure and losing it, and now she's technically engaged to him.

* ParentalSubstitute: He's the closest thing Vali has to a father figure.

An old friend of Issei's, she is the one responsible for his DarkAndTroubledPast, and has an obsession with him. Little is known about her aside from the fact she is an albino Devil.

* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: [[spoiler:Part of Issei's DarkAndTroubledPast is the fact White raped him, then turned the accusation back on him to make sure he'd be abandoned by everyone. [[WouldHurtAChild Issei was only 13 at the time when she did this.]]]]

* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Implied as how she's still sucking air, despite all four Maou wanting her DeaderThanDead – amidst her manuvering following her false rape accusation against Issei, she apparently managed to make herself politically untouchable.

* SoleSurvivor: He's the only faction head from the original Great War to make it out of the war alive, largely because the Fallen Angels were the first to back out the war.

* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: Despite his abrasive behavior, the one person he cares about more than anything is his mother Asami. However, his attempts at manipulation are easily figured out by Issei and Asami, and with a little prodding, Rias as well.

* TheCasanova: He tends to be a lady's man, enough that when he tells the others in TheAlliance that Issei called him a "post-prime man whore", they all burst out laughing and he only had issue [[ITakeOffenseToThatLastOne with being called old.]]

* MrViceGuy: Gender-inverted, but Raynare frequently indulges in each of the seven deadly sins. She's quick to anger, mainly lazes around at Issei's house and eats his food, has great pride as a Fallen, uses Issei's merchandise for several hours straight, tries to take whatever she likes, and is easily jealous of those that have more than her. [[spoiler:Becomes a plot point when Issei learns that she bears all SevenDeadlySins, and leads Issei to suspect Azazel made her Issei's handler deliberately because of it.]]

* ForgivenButNotForgotten: While she is definitely still bitter over their inaction, she has managed to make peace with TheAlliance, even being friends with Azazel... for the most part. Upon learning that Rias and Sona are LockedOutOfTheLoop, she immediately concludes Sirzechs and Serafall are falling back into old habits, and any good will she had towards them disappeared.

A trio of Fallen Angels that infiltrated Kuoh in order to capture the runaway Holy Maiden Asia Argento and extract her Twilight Healing. They are ultimately a set of {{Unwitting Pawn}}s however, meant to draw out Issei from hiding.

* BerserkButton: Issei ends up pressing Kalawarner's when he reveals that he not only knows she was a porn star in the Fallen's porn industry, but that it was his review as "Chibi-sensei" that ended her career. She repeatedly tries to hit him with light spears in rage as he casually dodges every one of them.
* {{Blackmail}}: On the receiving end from Issei. After he manages to take a bunch of pictures of Kalawarner trying to impale him with light spears for ruining her career, he makes it painfully clear just how out of their depth they are, pointing out that Kuoh is effectively under close watch by all three biblical factions because of him, and that if they don't get the hell out of his town, he'll forward those pictures as evidence to the Mirren. [[spoiler:Instead of following through however, they [[TooDumbToLive stupidly]] try to steal Asia's Twilight Healing while distracting Issei by injuring Asami and Raynare. This backfires horribly for them as Issei nearly [[SanitySlippage snaps]] and slaughters them all.]]
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: [[spoiler:Kalawarner is the only one of the three to visibly die at Issei's hands, and the results aren't pretty. After grabbing her face with his Boosted Gear, he proceeds to do ''something'' to her that sends her body into a convulsing mess as she tries to scream for mercy. Once Issei drops her limp body to the ground, her limbs had broken several times, and her mouth was filed with bile, blood, bodily fluids, and chunks of internal organs.]]
* KilledOffscreen: [[spoiler:While Kalawarner's death is shown in full, Dohnaseek's and Mittelt's are only inferred. Issei notes he left no survivors during his attack, and proceeds to burn the room they were in along with the entirety of the abandoned church, leaving it highly unlikely either could survive anyway.]]
* LaserGuidedKarma: [[spoiler:Kalawarner was the one to gut Asami and near fatally wound Raynare. Fittingly, her death comes first and is shown in full detail, with her left begging for her life as Issei effortlessly kills her.]]
* NiceHat: Dohnaseek has his trademark fedora, and Issei admits its a pretty cool one. It ultimately earns him the nickname "Hat Man" from Issei.
* NoHonorAmongThieves: Despite having offered Raynare the opportunity to work with them, the three have no qualms with attacking her due to her assignment to Issei. [[spoiler:Namely, Kalawarner attempts to wound her and Asami so as to distract Issei while they steal Asia's Twilight Healing, but since Raynare refused to go down without a fight, the injuries Kalawarner dealt her were near fatal, and she shows zero remorse for this when telling Dohnaseek about it.]]
* OhCrap: [[spoiler:Once Mittelt notices and points out the Boosted Gear on Issei's left arm, the three collectively shit themselves upon realizing he's the Sekiryutei, and that he had come there to kill them all.]]
* TooDumbToLive: Despite Issei already blackmailing them with evidence to turn to the Mirren if they didn't get out of Kuoh asap, the three thought they could still try and steal Asia's Twilight Healing from under his nose. [[spoiler:They had Kalawarner heavily wound and almost kill Raynare and Asami to try and distract Issei, which only served to force Issei into near SanitySlippage, and led to their painful deaths.]]
* UnwittingPawn: Twicefold. First, the devil who hired them, Diadora Astaroth, intended on acting like the big hero by saving Asia from them despite already promising to give him her corpse. Second, Diadora himself as well as their boss Kokabiel were both pawns to "White", who helped orchestrate the entire incident in the hopes of drawing out Issei so as to confirm he was still alive.
* VillainsWantMercy: [[spoiler:Just before Issei grabs her, Kalawarner can only beg for her life as she claims they didn't know this was his territory and wouldn't have done anything if they knew. Issei wasn't having it though and proceeded to slaughter them.]]

* DomesticAbuse: Issei manages to identify numerous bruises and abrasions, including choke marks, on one of their freshmen members after the Perverted Duo point them out during their peeping. He notices they're all in locations hard to notice when clothed, and that they're pretty old, indicating longtime domestic abuse.
* PetTheDog: After seeing Issei was in the middle of an anxiety attack, they stopped accusing him of peeping on them and tried to offer their assistance. Because Issei HatesBeingTouched, however, he almost attacked them, only being saved thanks to Rias quickly telling them she'd take care of him.
* UnprovokedPervertPayback: {{Averted|Trope}}. They almost blamed Issei for the Perverted Duo's attempt to peep on them, but quickly relented after seeing he was in the middle of a panic attack after he denied peeping and identified one of the girls was a victim of DomesticAbuse.

The former heir to the Gremory household, Sirzechs Lucifer is the strongest Devil, and was thus selected to inherit the title of ''Lucifer'' after the Great War, making him the leader of the Devils. A complete "siscon" for his younger sister Rias and BunnyEarsLawyer overall, Sirzechs reluctantly decided to use Rias to help Issei with his readjustment back into society, hoping that through her, the mistake he and the other Maou made with Issei can start to be fixed.

* TheChessmaster: {{Downplayed|Trope}}, but it was his overall idea to get Issei out of being a {{hikikomori}}, even reluctantly manipulating Issei and Rias for the sake of preparing for "White's" return. However, his attempts at manipulation are easily figured out by Issei and Asami, and with a little prodding, Rias as well.
* InSeriesNickname: Like with everyone, Issei has a nickname for him. Unlike most, however, his doesn't highlight a flaw Issei notices he has, but rather is just a shortened version of his name, ''Zechs''.
* MyGreatestFailure: Alongside the other Maou, Azazel, and Michael, he considers his inability to help Issei after his DarkAndTroubledPast to be horrible, and desperately wants to help Issei.
* NoodleIncident: As with the other Maou, Azazel, and Michael, it is unknown exactly ''why'' they effectively left Issei out to dry after the incident with "White", just that they claim the situation had their hands tied.
* PragmaticHero: Sympathetic and remorseful to Issei he may be, he recognizes that VaguenessIsComing, and that they can't afford to let Issei stay a {{hikikomori}} any longer. To this end, he manipulates Rias into becoming friends with Issei, hoping she and her peerage can help Issei readjust to society, while Issei can in turn help them with their issues.
* SpannerInTheWorks: His main line of plans are meant to deter "White" from getting to Issei, and he's been manipulating others, including his own sister Rias, to keep "White" away from Kuoh. Issei concludes that Sirzechs subtly influenced Rias into taking the position of overseer of Kuoh after learning from Rias that she, Sona, Sairaorg, and an unknown fourth all vied for Kuoh after Cleria Belial vanished, and that the unknown fourth individual was "White".

The last remaining member of the Lucifuge Family in Hell and their former Heiress, Grayfia fell in love with her husband Sirzechs in the middle of the Great War, eventually defecting to his side and marrying him. She is not an official member of the Maou, rather she serves as Head Maid for the Gremory household. Despite this though, she often is at Sirzechs' side making sure he stays on task and doesn't get too crazy, and her power leaves her on par with the Maou.

* AlmightyJanitor: Officially she is only the Head Maid of the Gremory household and Sirzechs' wife and Queen, however she is still considered one of the strongest Devils alive, her power matching that of the Maou, enough to earn her the [[RedBaron title]] ''The Silver-Haired Queen of Annihilation''.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: With Sirzechs being a BunnyEarsLawyer, Grayfia is often in charge of making sure he actually does his work and doesn't spend too much time either goofing off or doting on Rias.
* SixthRanger: She is not actually a Maou, but her power equals theirs and she often joins them whenever they need to intervene.

The former heir to the Glasya-Labolas household, Falbium Asmodeus was considered one of the strongest Devils after the Great War, and was thus selected to inherit the title of ''Asmodeus''. An extremely lazy fellow, he is the Head of Military Affairs in the Underworld, but tends to just pass his workload off onto his peerage and servants.

* BrilliantButLazy: He's a tactical genius, enough to earn him the position of Head of Military Affairs, but he is unbelievably lazy.
* CommanderContrarian: {{Downplayed|Trope}}, as Falbium is the least convinced by Sirzechs' attempts at manipulating Rias and Issei, pointing out numerous flaws in the plan and that "White" is acting as a SpannerInTheWorks for them. While he agrees with the overall idea of readjusting Issei to the outside world, he considers Sirzechs' methods unappealing.
* InSeriesNickname: Thanks to how lazy he often is, Issei just calls him ''The Bum''.

* OnlySaneMan: Among TheAlliance, the role ultimately falls on him. While the others are all celebrating Asia being a [[{{Beastmaster}} Dragon Tamer]] and how lucky they are she met Issei, Falbium points out the sheer unlikeliness of that being a coincidence, and that Asia's presence in Kuoh is a sign "White" is making a move for Issei again, whereas even with Sirzechs' plan they aren't ready.

* AbhorrentAdmirer: At first, his "Nee-san" Jasmine absolutely hated him, namely because he was a 10 year old constantly following her and asking her to be in his harem no matter how much she told him to piss off. She eventually relented after learning his concept of a "Harem" was different than the standard and figured she could use the financial aid he'd provide, but even then his behavior still irritated her to an extent.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: While there are still many things absent from it, his childhood appears to have taken a rough turn after he was betrayed by his friend "White". [[spoiler:White drugged him then attempted to [[RapeAsDrama rape him]] and turn him into a devil in her peerage after being aided by a member of the Phenex family, then attempted to kill him when trying to recruit him while living failed. When she failed, she turned the accusation around on him and made everyone think he raped ''her''. Those that believed him she went after causing them to abandon him, and those that didn't turned on him and sided with her. TheAlliance meanwhile couldn't touch her and effectively had to leave Issei out to dry, causing him to snap and go on a rampage in the underworld. It took the combined might of all four Maou, Azazel, and Michael to restrain him and calm him down, the six of them all receiving permanent scars in the process, and half the underworld razed beyond recognition.]] Once stopped and able to realize what happened, Issei practically shut down and [[{{Hikikomori}} locked himself up at home]], and refused to trust anyone ever again.

* HatesBeingTouched: Or rather, hates being touched without warning. Touching Issei without permission tends to send Issei into TranquilFury, but so long as he is warned and can prepare for it, he can handle it. The only exceptions being Asami and Asia. Asami due to Issei having a soft spot for his mom, and Asia due to being a [[TheBeastmaster Dragon Tamer]]. [[spoiler:Rias and Akeno later realize individually that this stems from a fear of being close to people, and that Issei specifically hates being touched out of fear letting someone close to him will just hurt him again.]]

The matriarch of the Hyoudou family the one person Issei actively shows fondness for, Asami knows a lot more about the supernatural than she lets on.

* AmbiguousSituation: It's been heavily hinted that ''White'' has a connection to the Phenex family, namely based on the fact that the Phenexs only began pushing for the engagement after Rias became one of the overseers of Kuoh, [[spoiler:and the Ghost claimed a "useless bird" was aiding ''White'' the night Issei was nearly forcibly reincarnated by her.]] Whether Riser himself is connected to her is unknown, and made even murkier when [[spoiler:Chapter 13 made a point to mention that his decision to stick close to Issei gained him the attention of ''someone'', though its not specified who.]]

* {{Hypocrite}}: Most of Issei's behavior makes him a walking contradiction. He's desperate to be left along so he can NeverBeHurtAgain, but can't sit idle when there's people he could help. He hates liars, but he's fully aware he's one of the biggest liars there is, causing him to hate himself. He acts like a massive prick to keep people away, but is very self conscious about what others think of him. Most of his behavior is a result of him trying to put on a tough exterior but his HiddenHeartOfGold constantly breaking through.

* UnSorceror: {{Play|ingWithATrope}}ed with. TheMasquerade is fully in effect, but she's aware of it and the only muggle to be involved in the supernatural world. She doesn't possess any enhancements like her son's dragon physiology, nor does she have a Sacred Gear. Despite this, she's an AlmightyMom and is capable of manipulating and intimidating her son and devils alike.
