* {{Determinator}}: One of Himmel's greatest traits was his resolve. It didn't matter whether [[spoiler:he was unable to pull out the Hero's Sword]] or [[spoiler:if he is put in a LotusEaterMachine that shows him his impossible dream to marry Frieren]], nothing could stop him from defeating the Demon King and bringing peace to the world.

* MadeOfIron: He can take a truly insane amount of punishment:

* {{Foil}}: As the second elf seen in the series, he serves as a very notable one for Frieren. He's a fully grown male elf whereas Frieren is female and implied to still be the equivalent of a teenager. He is a monk who fights with his fists while Frieren is a mage who fights at range. Kraft is more outwardly emotional where Frieren is more subdued. And lastly, while both have been on adventures that made them famous across the land, Kraft's story has long since been mostly forgotten as numerous generations have come and gone since then, while Frieren's story is still fresh in the minds of the public and still has living firsthand witnesses.
* HeavenSeeker: He became a devout believer of the Goddess due to feeling upset at the idea that after all the suffering one goes through in life, there's nothing to come after, and that everyone who knew of his deeds is gone. He chooses to believe that there must be ''something'' waiting after death, that the goddess will know his life and praise him.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Outright states that he once went on famous journeys long before even Frieren's time, but almost all knowledge of Kraft and his adventures has been lost to time (there are statues of him, and it is known the statues are of heroes who saved the world, but no details are remembered). He offers to swap stories with Frieren before they part, but she ultimately declines.
* LivingLegend: It's implied (later confirmed) that he has done many feats in his long life and was once a great hero, though [[TheGreatestStoryNeverTold anyone who could remember this is long dead]].

* MrFanservice: He's a handsome elf with a muscular body, and is often seen [[WalkingShirtlessScene shirtless]]. He's even introduced in a WorkoutFanservice scene, doing squats in his cabin while shirtless, and looking quite good doing it.

* TheOlderImmortal: He refers to Frieren as still young, at least by his standards.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: He's an adult elf, compared to Frieren who is at least over 1000 years old and still looks like a young teenager, and even refers to her as still being young. He promises to meet her again in a few centuries.
* ReligiousBruiser: As a monk, he's a devout believer in the Goddess, and a strong fighter to boot, at least according to Stark.
* TimeAbyss: Implied. We never get a ballpark on how old he is, but he hints to Frieren that he is ''far'' older than she is and used to be somewhat well known himself. He's at least ancient enough that his name has faded from all memory. As evidenced by a stone statue in his likeness, his great feat of saving the world was so long ago that no one even remembers what Kraft saved it ''from''.
* WhoWantsToLiveForever: Much like Frieren, Kraft struggles with his longevity. He is saddened that anyone that can remember his actions in the world has already passed and became a monk for the purpose that he will be received by the Goddess in Heaven and she will remember his actions.

A dwarven warrior that was part of Himmel's party. Dwarves have longer lifespans than humans (but don't live as long as elves), so Eisen is still alive in the present day. However, he has aged and can no longer go on adventures. In his old age, he took Stark as his pupil.

* TheBigGuy: He's the party frontline warrior and is the physically strongest member, being so strong that he can crush diamonds with his bare hands.

* CowardlyLion: He admitted to Frieren that he was always scared in battle. He doesn't think fear is a bad thing, though, quite the opposite. This is a trait that would eventually pass on to his pupil Stark.

* TheEeyore: In a [[RagtagBunchOfMisfits group full of weirdos]], Eisen appeared to be the OnlySaneMan in the Hero Party. However, he changed his outlook for the journey when Himmel asked him [[ArmorPiercingQuestion whether he wants their journey to be painful and bitter then]]. In retrospect, while Eisen found their journey to be ridiculous, he still had a lot of fun.

* LongLived: As a dwarf, he lives much longer than his human companions and is still alive, if old and retired by the time frame the story takes place in.
* MadeOfIron: He served as the Tank of the party, being a heavily-armored dwarf that could withstand blows from some of the strongest demons who ever lived.

* RetiredBadass: Eisen is already too old to go adventuring, but he was a member of the party that took down the demon king and is a good enough teacher to mentor Stark into greatness.

* BadassGrandpa: Even a few years before his death, he's more than strong enough to constantly travel around and slaying dangerous monsters which squads of soldiers had difficulty in dealing with, much less ''[[OneHitKill one-shotting]]'' them with ease.

* WillfullyWeak: [[spoiler:Flamme and Frieren's rule to limit their mana to deceive their opponents was passed on to Fern.]]

* GoodShepherd: Frieren likes calling him "corrupt priest" because of his drunkness, but he totally fits the image of the devout-man-of-faith. In his youth, he defended the land against demons, and old age only made him wiser and kinder. He convinces the young and grief-stricken Fern out of committing suicide through sheer compassion, and then arranges for someone to continue taking care of her after his death.

* TheLeader: The levelheaded kind. Due to her old age, Frieren is the most experienced and strongest adventurer and fighter in her group who has SeenItAll already. While she often deferred to Himmel during her journey with him, in the present she is clearly the overall leader.

* PhotographicMemory: Frieren has very good memory, able to recall details from across her thousand-plus years of life. This includes the UtilityMagic she collects as a hobby, as well as an encyclopedic knowledge of demons and all their weaknesses.

* UnskilledButStrong: While she has more skill than most human mages, for her age she's actually quite lacking, though only someone like Serie would notice. Frieren has dedicated her life to mastering only magic and skills which can help kill demons as efficiently as possible and every other spell she learns is more a hobby than magic she seeks to master. The more elegant and spectacular magic Serie is fond of eludes Frieren, or she simply can't be bothered to learn it.

* CripplingOverspecialization: Downplayed example, but compared to the Himmel party, Frieren's party is almost entirely offensive-focused due to them lacking a dedicated tank like Eisen or a support/healer like Heiter, with [[spoiler:Sein only sticking around for a short time.]] Stark himself, while durable, lacked the wide-area defensive skills and experience his master Eisen had. A well-timed poison or curse also easily wiped out the whole party if Sein wasn't there.
* DemonSlaying: Frieren is infamous for being the most dreaded demon hunter in history. She has improved Qual's {{armor piercing|attack}} [[OneHitKill Zoltraak]] to be extremely effective against demons, and, as her master, has taught Fern to do this, too. Stark was trained by the warrior that helped take down the Demon King.

* GenerationXerox: Fern and Stark are the disciples of three of the four heroes that defeated the Demon King. Both resemble their masters in many ways.

* PerpetualPoverty: Frieren's party is constantly struggling with money. There are largely two reasons for that: one, Frieren seldom accepts money as a reward for the requests she receives, and two, Frieren constantly buys a lot of magical junk with the money she has, much to Fern's dismay. What they earn is always barely enough to cover their living expenses.

** Frieren notes that Fern should really not criticize Stark for being a coward, as he has no experience fighting monsters. Fern was much the same and ran away when she encountered her first monster, despite being more than powerful enough. The pair were also hiring Stark to slay a dragon with exceptionally high magic resistance because Fern was too terrified to combat that same dragon with just magic spells. Indeed, while Fern calls Stark "pathetic" for his cowardice, when he's apparently missing, she's shown hugging a tree with Frieren trying to pull her off.

* CripplingOverspecialization: Downplayed example but compared to the Himmel party, Frieren's party is almost entirely offensive-focused due to them lacking a dedicated tank like Eisen or a support/healer like Heiter with [[spoiler:Sein only sticking around for a short time.]]

* ACupAngst: She has been flat-chested for a thousand years, and if Serie is any indication then her body won't change much from this no matter how long she lives. She occasionally gets annoyed at Fern being substantially more well endowed and ponders just what it is that makes them different (as they eat the same things), though she usually doesn't get petty over it.

* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Of the stock elf fantasy party member who usually serenely symbolizes that some form of the adventure is imperishable, even as their less long-lived friends age and even perish. However, they aren't the protagonists of this story, the elf left behind is, and she resolves to learn more about humanity after realizing just how short their lives really are in comparison to hers.

* TheChessmaster: He has what can only be called "generational planning"; he was VitriolicBestBuds with Frieren, but he also realized that she will be the one to outlive them all by centuries, thus making her the only constant in the changing world. So, knowing Frieren doesn't make friends easily and to prevent every other priest having a hard time getting to work with her, he ensures that Frieren will take his adopted daughter Fern as an apprentice while he trains his own apprentice priests (including Sein) in a way that they won't have to suffer through same frustrations that he had suffered if they ever meet and should work with Frieren. Thus ensuring she has at least two companions she can trust and who can trust her fifty years later and decades after his death. It is implied Eisen (Heiter's best friend after Himmel) did the same thing with Stark thanks to Heiter's request.

* MadeOfIron: He served as the Tank of the party, being a heavily armored dwarf that could withstand blows from some of the strongest demons who ever lived.

** Fern also keeps calling Stark a pervert, never mind that she checks Stark's junk after learning the XRayVision spell. There's also huge implication that when she carries Frieren through the snowfield, the reason she refuses to hand her over to Stark isn't because Stark being a pervert, but because she wants Frieren all by herself, not helped by Frieren complimenting her smell earlier.

* PlayfulCatSmile: When feeling playful or the when scene calls for humor, she sports a catlike smile.

* SquishyWizard: By her own admission. She states that mages tend to be very vulnerable at close distances and that a sufficiently skilled warrior can make short work of them if they get close enough, [[spoiler:such as the assassin Radar, who was able to quickly subdue her after closing the distance. Albeit, he did not get the chance to actually try injure her in any way, so it is unclear if he could have killed her quickly or not. Indeed, for powerful mages this may be a downplayed trope. They are squishy compared to defensive warriors, but can still take a lot more damage than a normal person, with the demon Solitär marveling at Frieren's resilience]].

* SquishyWizard: By her own admission. She states that mages tend to be very vulnerable at close distances and that a sufficiently skilled warrior can make short work of them if they get close enough, [[spoiler:such as the assassin Radar, who was able to quickly subdue her after closing the distance]].

* CatSmile: Frieren sometimes makes a <(=w=)> face, and it's adorable.

* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Though he has no talent for magic, he is incredibly strong. He can solo kill a dragon TheArchmage and her prodigy apprentice found difficult to battle, and a single swing from his axe can cleave a canyon through a cliff. His fastest technique executes at the speed of lightning. His musculature is resilient enough to halt blade strikes if the attack isn't performed by an equally strong opponent, and he doesn't lose consciousness from grievous wounds. While all of this can be chalked up to his training with Eisen, Eisen himself remarks with fear to Frieren on Stark's high potential when he first met him.

* HatesBeingTouched: Complains every time Fern pats her on the head, and refuses to let Methode do so, until Methode bribes her with a tome that lets one crack eggs without any eggshell getting in the batter. Upon receiving it, she lets Methode pat her head and even hug her, to Fern's annoyance. This is more due to the fact the people hugging her are no older than babies to her eyes, so it always feels strange to her, instead of a general aversion to physical contact.

* WillfullyWeak: [[spoiler:Frieren has held back her mana for over 1000 years to the point that it's second nature to her, even when she sleeps. She does this explicitly to deceive demons to make them underestimate her. When she meets an opponent who can match her restrained self, [[IAmNotLeftHanded she can just release more power]].]]

* HumanizingTears: She seemed completely emotionless and detached from those around her, until she cried at Himmel's funeral, which was when she felt grief for possibly the first time in her very long life.

* MoralityPet: To Frieren. She was completely isolated and detached from people until Himmel made her go on a journey with him. His death was the first time she ever felt grief for a human.

* ImmortalImmaturity: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. While Frieren isn't that childish, she isn't particularly mature, either, to the point that Fern often acts in a more proper manner than Frieren, and Sein thinks of her as a very child-like person. This seems to be justified as she might still be a young girl by elf standards, and she doesn't really have the same amount of maturing experiences that a human would have, like having to take care of younger people, keeping a job, etc., making her come across as less of an adult than Sein.

* TokenMiniMoe: In both Himmel's party and her current party, Frieren looks much younger than her teammates, due to having the body of an at most young teen girl despite being [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld hundreds of years old]].

* VocalDissonance: Despite looking like a young teenager, she has a pretty deep voice, particularly in the English dub. Not giving her the voice of a child makes it easier to understand that she ''is'' old, no matter how she looks.
