* AbusiveParents: Though Ane was never actually abused as a child, since his is of the AffablyEvil type, to a point, it is heavily implied Ane's father would've done this if Ane hadn't escaped.
* AfraidOfBlood: Lynnith cutting herself triggers a PTSD-induced flashback to his HarmfulToMinors origin story.
* TheBerserker: Ane will unwillingly lapse into this state, which is the closest thing to a SuperPoweredEvilSide, if his stress levels soar too high. This is the case for all other Chompers, and [[spoiler: in the case of the Conels, has a habit of being the weapon of choice for MentorOccupationalHazard... on their own mentors.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Was a sweet innocent boy who lived back when the war really was just a game to his bretheren... then his father lost control, ate the human they lived with, and lost it from there. Ane's only choice was to escape or live with a clinically insane man for the rest of his life, and he ran all the way to Crazy Dave's mansion from the first game. * TheDeterminator: In regards to his preoccupation with setting things right and keeping the peace. Seriously, he's tough - it takes some serious grit to break off a relationship with a parent you know is now going to be nothing but trouble for the rest of your life. And when [[spoiler: Sarah forcefully abandons him]], he simply starts ''walking back'' after calming down, ''and'' finds Peater along the way!
* GoodCounterpart: The heroic and responsible version of the [[ThePsychoRangers Sativums]]. Unfortunately, it's implied that he's just the beginning, [[spoiler: and neither of his children seem ready to carry on the heroic lineage at first]].
* HonorRelatedAbuse: While he's never shown on the receiving end of it, it's heavily implied that his less-than-trustworthy father would've done this had he been given the chance.

A Cactus who serves as Ane's right-hand-woman and is also his love interest. While feisty in the past, she's had to settle down just to keep up with Ane's mood swings.

* EveryoneHasStandards: Although SF Alpha's members have been through and done tough shit, she initially can ''not'' bring herself to live with the fact that [[spoiler: her boyfriend now has patricide written all over him.]] Out of impulse, this drives her to [[spoiler: slap Ane after he runs to her for help[[note]]While this seems like a case of NeverSayDie applied to a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown given the author's writing style, [[FridgeLogic this is a Cactus we're dealing with, after all.]][[/note]], use up their only way home (shoving Hershel and Mystic through in the process), and threatens to ''kill him'' if he comes back.]] [[LoveHurts Of course, this leads to a bout of some of the worst emotional trauma she'd ever experienced.]]

* GetAholdOfYourselfMan: Slaps Ane after [[spoiler: he kills his father on accident in a battle gone wrong.]] Unfortunately, it's pretty clear that [[NeverSayDie the act's clearly standing in for a more physically abusive option]][[note]]Unless you take into account the fact that Cacti have broad and sharp spines[[/note]] and it doesn't change him at all, effectively subverting this.
