Freddy Kruger is proof that horrible situations can create even worse people. He was conceived when his mother, a nun named Amanda Kruger, was brutally raped in an insane asylum by dozens of inmates, hence the nickname: "The Bastard Son Of A 100 Maniacs." When he was older, a very tough life slowly made him even worse than the men from the asylum until, when he was an adult, he began to attack and even kill kids in the town of Springwood. In fact, Kruger can diagnosed with pedophillic disorder.
He was caught, but a screw-up on the police's side of things let him walk free. This resulted in the parents of the kids of Springwood burning him alive.
Before his soul could be tortured for eternity, Freddy had a chat with some dream demons and now could murder people in their dreams, and he already knew who to go after first...

Added DiffLines:

* ArtifactOfDoom: Her killer VHS tape.
* CreepyChild: Back when she was alive and especially now.
* {{Curse}}: The core of Samara's powers is the ability to curse anyone who watches her videotape. The curse starts a seven-day countdown that culminates in the viewer's death unless they make a copy of the tape and show it to someone else.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: When she was still alive, she had milky skin, long dark hair and was a CreepyChild.
* HolyBurnsEvil: Though she might be a particularly powerful ghost, she is still a ghost. If one can find her remains, then they should be able to salt and burn them to end her reign of terror. Also, in a pinch, you can strike her corpus with iron, salt, or holy water to cause her to evaporate, buying you some additional time.
* KillItWithWater: Ironically, Samara was afraid of water in life. In death, she is able to control water. Some of her victims are found to be drowned, despite being nowhere near any source of water at the time of their death.
* LogicalWeakness: Generally speaking, Samara is powerless to affect you if you have not watched her video in its entirety.
* RedBaron: The Drowned Child, The Ring Girl, The Ring Ghost, The Seven Days Killer, The VHS Killer, The Well Ghost.
* RelatedInTheAdaptation: Her adoptive father was Richard Morgan, Harry Morgan's brother, making her Dexter and Debra Morgan's adoptive cousin.
* PowerIncontinence: Even before birth, she possessed PsychicPowers that exceeded her ability to control. Anyone who came close to her, man or beast, suffered horrendous hallucinations just from her being there.
* PsychicPowers: Even before her death, Samara had the ability to project psychic imagery into a person's mind. She retains the ability after death. The horrific imagery can, and has in some cases, driven her victims to commit suicide.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Technopath}}: Samara can manipulate electronic devices, such as televisions and VCRs. She uses this power to display distorted or terrifying images to torment her victims. Using these devices, Samara can also transport herself across vast distances or scry upon those afflicted with her curse

Added DiffLines:

* AdaptationalSexuality: This Norman is officially listed as pansexual while in movies his sexuality was ambiguous.

Added DiffLines:

* MaskOfSanity: The lesser-known third persona, "Normal Bates", is a façade constructed as a coping mechanism. This is the personality that faced the world and plays the role of a functional adult. Articulate, polite, and seemingly well-adjusted, "Normal" is the person who holds conversation with customers, flirts with the women Norman is attracted to, and interacts with society at large.
* MoreDeadlyThanTheMale: Norma is the overbearing, domineering entity that occasionally takes the wheel in Norman's mind. She's the one that handles the dirty work, the killing, absolving Norman of the guilt he would otherwise feel. She's not just a copy of his mother but an exaggerated form, constructed from his own psyche and sculpted from his darkest emotions. She is controlling, sadistic, and sometimes paranoid, making her actions more unpredictable than those of Norman. Through the lens of a hunter, Norma is the perfect killer—a being devoid of hesitation and fully committed to the act.

Added DiffLines:

* TaxidermyIsCreepy: His skills in taxidermy aren't just a hobby; they're an intimate understanding of anatomy that assists him in his killings. There’s an incredible finesse to his method.

* AntiVillain: He kills because he believes he's making his mother proud and out of vengeance for the wrongdoings people have done to him with a probably fixed mindset that anyone is therefore bound to be the enemy (at least if they enter the woods and are associated with the blame).
* AxCrazy: Jason is definitely past the point of reasoning. Despite being a sympathetic version of this and having a childlike mind, Jason throughout the remainder of his life has mentally snapped to the point of no return once he found out his mother had been killed thus becoming very murderous with his extreme brutality being prominently shown as he kills about anyone in the most gruesome fashion possible that makes their way to Camp Crystal Lake as a way to bring upon his rampage.

Added DiffLines:

* BornUnlucky: His birthday was on a Friday the 13th, and Jason's life reflects that; he was born with learning difficulties and physical deformities, making him a target for merciless bullying, which eventually led to him drowning while fleeing from it.

* FlawExploitation: Freddy's egotism and need to toy with his victims before killing them can also be exploited. A calculated and strategic approach, one that plays on Freddy's arrogance and insecurities, could turn Freddy's methods of psychological torment against him.

* HolyBurnsEvil: Holy relics, rites, and rituals have proven effective against Freddy, likely due to his hatred of his mother and the religion she cared so much about.

* NeverSleepAgain: Another insidious facet of Freddy is his ability to leave lingering effects on his victims. Those who've encountered him in their dreams often suffer from chronic insomnia, afraid to shut their eyes lest they meet him again. Even if he doesn't kill immediately, the mental scars Freddy leaves behind can drive individuals to madness or self-harm. This lingering, paralyzing fear ensures that even outside the dream realm, Freddy's presence continues to haunt.
* NightmareSequence: Within the dream realm, Freddy's powers peak, allowing him an almost omnipotent control over the environment. He transforms private dreams into personal hells. This is not just murder; it's psychological torture and it's this power and the fear that is causes wich makes him unpredictable and nearly unstoppable.

Added DiffLines:

* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: She's the girlfriend of Chucky, a sociopathic serial killer. To be fair, she's a killer as well, albeit AffablyEvil. In fact, this desire is how they met and ended up having their first murder together.
* AxCrazy: Actually more so than Chucky himself. Both Chucky and Tiffany kill people For the Evulz, but Chucky generally acts rationally when trying to get what he wants. Tiffany, on the other hand, is usually more unpredictable moment-to-moment because she's impulsive, prone to emotional outbursts, and often indulges in rather extreme forms of self-deception. In other words, Chucky is evil, but Tiffany is both evil and insane.
* BullyingADragon: This is what got her killed in the first place by continuously teasing Chucky after he rejected her.
* CommonalityConnection: Tiffany and Chucky share a lack of empathy for others and a willingness to kill those that get in their way.
* CreepyHighPitchedVoice: A villainess with a high-pitched voice. Apparently, she went through VocalEvolution after committing her first murder with Chucky.
* EvenBadWomenLoveTheirMamas: Constantly brings up something her mother used to say out of reverence.
* HollywoodVoodoo: Is not as skilled as Chucky, but still dangerous nonetheless.
* ItMeantSomethingToMe: She had a one-sided devotion to Chucky on the assumption that he would marry her while he never held these intentions.
* LasciviousBeautyMark: She has a mole above her lip to complete her very obvious Marilyn Monroe-inspired look.

Added DiffLines:

* ExtraParentConception: Freddy is called the bastard son of a hundred maniacs, assuming that isn't hyperbole.

Slashers are violent people bonded with a dark entity. They are also known as Scourges. The entity is parasitic in nature and latches itself to the host in a moment of vulnerability. It demands the host to commit acts of violence, in return it gives the host enhanced senses (even allowing to see the Supernatural), reflexes and a sense to detect other murderers.

Each case is different and the connection between the human and the entity differs in what way it's represented.[2] The entity can latch itself to the soul, merge with the host, jump from one host to another, or share the connection between two hosts.

Not all entities are nightmares from the Dreaming however they are the most common, some are infernal or eldritch in origin, there are even supernal entities. Just about any incorporeal being can become a Scourge entity if properly motivated, even Ghosts which are some of the worst ones. There needs to be for the Scourge to get from Point A to Point B. For a demonic Scourge to get access to you, you need to have some connection to Hell such as being part of a Satanic cult. Likewise for Supernal Scourge the host probably comes from a devout upbringing.
