One of Josh's friends. So named because he looks like Josh, except he's white (and also his name is Josh as well). He works at a gym, walks around shirtless a lot, and is gay.

In that very same episode, she mentions understanding humor's appeal.

* CharacterizationMarchesOn: In the first season, she mentions that she "doesn't like humor." While she TookALevelInKindness later, that part of her character was abandoned and forgotten almost immediately.

* AmbiguouslyBi: Parodied with the song 'Feeling Kinda Naughty', where Rebecca isn't quite sure whether she has a crush on Valencia or is just insanely jealous of her. She even tries to kiss her! This is acknowledged when she talks with Darryl's ex wife in season 3, in which she says though she isn't bi, she does has bi tendencies and puts herself in a 1.8 in the Kinsey Scale (which would be technically bisexuality).

* BuxomBeautyStandard: Several people have commented on Rebecca's large bust, even Valencia has complimented Rebecca on her appearance. Defied with the song 'Heavy Boobs' where Rebecca deconstructs this trope.

* MsFanservice: The concept of {{Fanservice}} in general is parodied by her several times during musical numbers, which show her in provocative outfits only to juxtapose it with something decidedly unsexy, such as having to be helped on with a pair of Spanx.

Added DiffLines:

* PoliticallyCorrectVillain: A VillainProtagonist and a manipulative, petty and fixated stalker who prides herself for being progressive and giving annual donations. [[spoiler: By Season 4, the VillainProtagonist is averted.]]

Added DiffLines:

* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Not a villain, mostly an antagonist/TheRival to Rebecca for Josh's heart, but she frequently made fatphobic comments against Rebecca and she proved to be a FemaleMisogynist in her ''"Women Gotta Stick Together"'' number.

Added DiffLines:

* ToxicFriendInfluence: She supports Rebecca's impulsive behavior, even gives her questionable advices to achieve her goals, and she can't see that all these worsen her condition, because she's a massive Rebecca/Josh shipper. By later seasons, this characteristic is toned down.

* DotingParent: Her parents are extremely loving and encouraging of everything she does which is part of why Heather has become so shiftless. Despite this, she still loves them and whatever their flaws, their approach to parenting is shown as undeniably preferable to [[AbusiveParents how Rebecca's mother treated her]].

* PetTheDog: She pretty much selflessly volunteers to bear Darryl's child, without even asking for money or anything. Subverted when she points out that she agreed to it on a whim, and later acknowledged that she did ''not'' think through all the implications first.

* {{Hypocrite}}: In Season 1, she considered Rebecca pathetic because she had no friends, even though she herself suffered from FriendlessBackground and Josh's friends [[TheFriendNobodyLikes only tolerated her because she was Josh's girlfriend]].

Cool Loser cleanup, has been renamed to Unconvincingly Unpopular Character and is a YMMV audience reaction.

* CoolLoser: Darryl is usually portrayed as being a bit of a joke, yet he's the head of his own legal firm, a good parent, a forgiving and friendly ex-husband and has an incredibly strong relationship with a young, attractive and caring boyfriend. He's pretty much the only character anywhere near close to having his act together.

* ParentsAsPeople: While she dearly loves her children, Paula is quite neglectful and doesn't really enjoy spending time with them, not helped by the fact that her two children are quite awful people and dislike spending time with her too. As a result, she often ignores her family beyond the most basic of needs to latch on to her hobbies, which included vampire novels and later, Rebecca's love life.

* {{Foil}}: She's Rebecca's polar opposite. While Rebecca is extremely accomplished, energetic and has spent years in a professional role, Heather has spent years performing well below her capabilities, is extremely laid-back and unemotional and has been putting off adult responsibilities for as long as she can. They also have radically different parents which show the difference between being giving too much praise and not enough to kids: While Rebecca's mother treated her horribly and her father is a selfish bastard who had no interest in being in her life, resulting in Rebecca having severe emotional problems she spends the series dealing with with mixed results, Heather's parents supported everything she did and never really pushed her to become independent or aspire for more. Though it's worth noting that while Rebecca's parents left her seriously damaged and barely functional at the start of the show, Heather is simply immature and shiftless but is eventually able to settle in to a good career that she does well at and have a perfectly happy marriage to Hector without much issue and is overall ''much'' more well-adjusted than Rebecca.
