While he claims that it is to restore the Mist to its "glory days", in truth, Shizuma is a psychotic piece of filth who will kill anyone who stands in his way and commits these heinous acts simply because '''it's fun.''' His plans never see fruition when he's taken down by Boruto and Kagura.
----

* AssimilationBackfire: [[spoiler:Thought he could control the notoriously picky Samehada blade. The blade ends up "eating" him and then "wearing" his body. Luckily for him, he's saved by Boruto and Kagura.]]
* ArcVillain: He is the main antagonist for the Field Trip Arc.
* AxCrazy: The man is ''disturbed''...
* BadBoss: [[spoiler: Badly wounds Tsurushi Hachiya after the latter fails twice]].
* BigBadWannabe: While certainly a powerful ninja, [[spoiler:his ambitions are thwarted in the space of a few hours, no one takes him seriously and his group dissolves before it can get off the ground!]]
* {{Bishounen}}: For a guy whose bloodline makes him look like a humanoid shark, Shizuma is weirdly pretty.
* BloodKnight: A battle hungry warrior obsessed with war and combat.
* BloodMagic: Using his own blood as a medium, Shizuma can use Samehada's power to taint his Blood Mist Barrier causing to steal chakra from his enemies open wounds.
* ClippedWingAngel: After he is [[spoiler:absorbed by Samehada, both existences are a horrible fusion of one another with great power, but unlike Kisame, Shizuma has no control over the form and he's defeated in a couple of well-timed and powerful hits.]]
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Attempting to murder the Hokage's son to intentionally spark a war is probably one of the most stupidest ideas to date. Does he really think he and six other inexperienced brats are going to be able to take on the world in war? Does he think he can face ''Naruto's'' '''wrath''' once the Hokage learns who murdered his son? Does he really think he can [[spoiler:wield the Samehada in the same vein as ''Kisame''?]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He seems to have a genuine soft spot for Kagura, and says he has watched over him to protect him for years. [[spoiler: Later revealed to be just another manipulation: he cares for ''no one'' save himself.]]
* FauxAffablyEvil: Seems nice enough when we first see him, getting his underling Hassaku to stop attacking attacking Boruto and his friends. Like his clansman Kisame, he's also unfailingly polite, even to enemies, and insists on proper honorifics being used at all times. Under that, he's a dangerous psychotic murderer with no care for anyone or anything save his own amusement.
* ForTheEvulz: Why does he want a war so bad? "It's fun! Why else?"
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:Forced by the sentient Samehada blade to merge together when Shizuma proves to be too "weak". While this powers him up, Shizuma loses all reasoning in his new form. Boruto and Kagura still manage to defeat him and force the two apart.]]
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: Samehada absorbs the chakra from his enemies and heals its wielder of any wounds they may suffer, making it nearly impossible to defeat him unless one can separate the sword from the swordsman.
* HateSink: Nothing about this guy is redeemable. ''Nothing''. In-universe, Boruto considers him a piece of crap for trying to manipulate Kagura and [[BloodKnight Suigetsu]] just considers him an "immature brat" who knows nothing about the horrors of war. Out-universe, the fandom hates his existence not only for the reasons above but for actually thinking he could get away with his goals.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler: He really should've known more how Samehada can turn on its wielder....]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: Despite decrying Chojuro and Mei for assassinating those against them, Shizuma happily has those who oppose his plans secretly murdered.
* InstantExpert: Shockingly good with the notoriously finicky sword Samehada the first time he ever uses it. [[spoiler:At least, at first...]]
* JapaneseDelinquents: Shown to be the leader of a group of genin who act like these.
* LaughingMad: His reaction as Samehada starts to [[spoiler:eat and absorb '''him.''']]
* MakingASplash: Like his clansman Kisame, Shizuma specializes in water jutsu.
* ManipulativeBastard: Has played on Kagura's trauma of having left a nasty scar on him in his bloodlust for years to get Kagura to join his team.
* ScarsAreForever: Sports a wicked scar on his chest from one of Kagura's bloodlusted fits.
* SharkMan: Has gills under his eyes, just like Kisame.
* SlasherSmile: With all those sharp teeth, his grins are downright unnerving. Seems to run in the Hoshigaki family.
* StartMyOwn: Establishes himself as the "leader" of the New Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. [[spoiler:[[EpicFail They're all defeated in the span of a few hours by the Mizukage and a few ''Academy'' students.]]]]
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:Starts losing his grip on sanity when Boruto, Mitsuki and Kagura overwhelm in combat and then reacts with horror and disbelief when Samehada starts to absorb him.]]
* VillainHasAPoint: Okay, so maybe he does have a bit of a legitimate gripe about his family and clan being absolutely erased from the annals of Kirigakure's history...[[spoiler:How much of his ramblings was a lie, however, remains to be seen.]]
* VisionaryVillain: Believes in bringing the Hidden Mist back to prominence. Of course, to do this, he feels he needs to revive the Blood Mist.
* WouldHurtAChild: Need to start a war? Just murder the Hokage's son!
* YoungerThanTheyLook: He's only eighteen, though he appears older.

[[folder:Hassaku_Onomichi]]
[[quoteright:313:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/latest_93.png]]
One of the first members of the new seven swordsmen introduced. First makes an appearance by picking a fight with Iwabee, before Boruto got involved and Shizuma stopped it. Ends up taking Kubikiribocho, the blade previously used by Zabuza.
----
* AfroAsskicker: Sports an afro that's barely contained by his shinobi forehead protector.
* {{BFS}}: The Kubikiribocho.
* CurbSTompBattle: Ends up on the receiving end of one from Chōjūrō, ''with a broken katana.''

[[folder:Buntan Kurosuki]]
[[quoteright:313:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/uub3zaog_400x400.jpg]]
Daughter of Raiga Kurosuki, the previous holder of Kiba. Seems to be in a relationship with, or is at least very close with Shizuma.
----
* AbusiveParents: It's insinuated that Raiga was never really around as a husband, and we know from the anime that he was a bad dude who suffered a KarmicDeath. Butan's mother is said to have a very unpleasant relationship with her daughter because of the grudge she holds towards Raiga for being a deadbeat, which has driven Buntan to turn renegade.
* DesignatedGirlFight: With Sarada during the Field Trip arc.
* DualWielding: Wields Kiba, which is actually two separate swords.
* [[LikeFatherLikeSon Like Father, Like Daughter]]: Follows in her father's footsteps by debuting in the anime.
* MeaningfulName: As with the rest of the new seven swordsmen, her name comes from a a kind of fruit, specifically the Pomelo (Buntan in Japanese).
* ShockAndAwe: As the current wielder of Kiba, she uses the twin swords's ability to generate lightning. However, she has an extra ability that lets her manipulate the swords through remote control.

[[folder:Ichirōta_Oniyuzu]]
[[quoteright:313:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/latest_81.png]]
Current wielder of Shibuki, after they stole it. Seems to be the most level headed of the group.
----
* {{BFS}}: Shibuki
* MeaningfulName: As with the rest of the new seven swordsmen, his name comes from a fruit, kind of citrus.
* StuffBlowingUp: Literally the power of Shibuki, which is coated with an unlimited number of explosive paper tags.
* TakingYouWithMe: He tries to use Shibuki to pull this off after Iwabee defeats him, but fails thanks to Chōjūrō.

[[folder:Kyohō_Fuefuki]]
[[quoteright:313:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/latest_904.png]]
Resident big guy of the group. Weilds the giant axe and hammer Kabutowari.
----
* AnAxeToGrind: Half of Kabutowari is a giant axe.
* CallingYourAttacks: {{Deconstructed|Trope}}. Hassaku calls him out on how stupid it is, since doing so lets a tied up Chojuro avoid his attack.
* DumbMuscle
* MeaningfulName: As with the rest of the new seven swordsmen, his name comes from a kind of fruit - the Kyoho, a type of grape.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Hebiichigo]]
[[quoteright:313:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/341365.jpg]]
Creepy looking girl who comes into possession of the Nuibari when the group steals the swords.
----
* AxCrazy
* ElegantGothicLolita: Or at least as close to one as can be while still wearing a shinobi uniform.
* HatesBeingTouched: Despite her cruel and savage nature, she is also shown to have a strong sense of self-preservation, desperately working to avoid any physical contact with her enemy.
* MeaningfulName: As with the rest of the new seven swordsmen, her name comes from a fruit, specifically a strawberry-like fruit called "hebiichigo".

!Byakuya Gang

[[folder:Ryōgi]]
* FreudianExcuse: After his parents were murdered by an enemy of his father, Ryōgi decided to follow in his father's footsteps and join Byakuya to help others.
* AnIcePerson: Courtesy of his kekkei genkai/bloodline limit: Ice Release.
* JustLikeRobinHood: He's entirely convinced that the Byakuya Gang is stealing to help the impoverished, and as such does the same. We see he even steals a jewel from the Leaf so a neighboring town can afford to fix their water pump.
* INeverSaidItWasPoison: He slips up and mentions Katasuke's research lab in a conversation. Shikadai notes that no normal person should be able to have an idea about what's in the lab...unless, of course, they scoped it out beforehand.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: Although him being under a genjutsu since a tender age puts the his level of malevolency in question.
* OddFriendship: With Shikadai, considering that they're on opposite sides of the Byakuya conflict but still hung out with each other in secret.
* SmartPeoplePlayChess: Or shogi, as per the usual in this series. He serves as the brains of Byakuya's heists, and has some well flexed strategic abilities.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Gekkō who saved him from the past.
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler: Gekkō has been using him for his own selfish desires because of his talent in Ice-based techniques]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gekkō]]
* DarkSkinnedBlond
* {{Expy}}: [[spoiler: Like Haido and Shinnō from the movies, Gekkō plays the role of the savior of a youth with unique powers when in reality he is the one who killed the youth's parents.]]
* ManipulativeBastard: [[spoiler:He is behind the deaths of Ryōgi's parents, and manipulated the boy to have access to his Ice Release.]]
* ParentalSubstitute: Serves as this to Ryōgi, since both of the latter's parents are dead and he was a family friend.

!Missing-Nins

[[folder:Shojoji]]
Leader of the Mujani bandits, Shojoji is a mysterious individual that shows up in the Boruto series. He kipnaps Tentou, the Fire Daimyou's son in exchange for a ransom. When Boruto comes to save him, he end up fighting Boruto and almost kill him, if not for Sarada and Mitsuki coming to the rescue.

* {{Acrofatic}}: Despite his obesity, he can SpeedBlitz Boruto.
* BrainFood: How his powers works. He must eat the live brain of a shinobi to be able to copy his techniques and appearance.
* CounterAttack: His Wind of the Count Shield works like this. It returns techniques to their user.
* DidntSeeThatComing: Expected all of Boruto's attacks and countered them. He only gets hit when Tentou attacks him, not expecting him to know how to throw a Shuriken.
* ExtremeOmnivore: The "Can Eat Anything" variety. There's nothing he won't eat, including his own kind. He also reasons that humans could adapt to eat whatever they want and most just chose not to eat people, which is [[TheUnfettered really]] disturbing. And to accommodate his appetite, Shojoji can open his jaw VERY wide to engulf his meals.
* FatBastard: His true form is that of a fat ugly man.
* ImAHumanitarian: His cannibalistic jutsu is bad enough, but what makes him truly repulsive is he ''enjoys'' eating people.
* KillAndReplace: While most shinobi can do this with the transformation technique, Shojoji takes it a step further by gaining the memories of the people he eats, allowing him to make his disguises near-perfect.
* OhCrap:
** Isn't impressed at all by Sai & Ibiki. Starts really getting scared when Sasuke comes to talk to him personally.
** The moment he saw the members of Kara, he knew they were dangerous and bolted immediately.
* RazorSharpHand: His Sword of the Wind Count jutsu functions as a chop that can slice through enemies like a sword.
* WouldHurtAChild: Is all too pleased at the idea of eating Boruto and taking his jutsu.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: He has green hair.
