Not really. Mayuri Kurotsuchi\'s a jerk. But he\'s helped save the world several times in the series (by helping Ichigo, moving Karakura Town, restoring the balance of souls etc.).

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Letting Mayuri out of a ''nut house'' probably wasn't the best idea, for a start.

** "Bookman" was a common penname for him, before his name was revealed and continues to be popular because it explains how he gets people under Book of the End's influence.
** Most tend to shorten his name to "Tsuki", nowadays.
** His InSeriesNickname "Shuu-chan" is gaining popularity within the fanbase too.
** "Trollzen" or "Trollishima" are other popular name for him from those that find him repeatedly using his powers just to {{Troll}} Ichigo amusing rather than scary.... initially.
** After we found out his powers, people quickly started him "Facebook".

All possess MaskPower and MaskOfPower, and they have a mini story arc based on them named "Turn back the Pendulum", which explains their pasts. ExoticEyeDesigns also qualifies, as their scleras turn black and their irises turn yellow whenever they use their Hollow masks.

masks. LateArrivalSpoiler also applies - they're all former captains or lieutenants in the Gotei 13, sans Hachigen (who was with the Kido Corps).

* OmniscientMoralityLicense : Has a tendency to keep things from the heroes, especially [[spoiler:his role in the Hogyoku's creation and its importance in Rukia's arrest]]. This isn't all, though; as the original creator of the Hogyoku [[spoiler:or rather, second, as Aizen figured it out first]], which fell under Aizen's hands, he's partly responsible for the Visored affair, the development of the Arrancar, [[spoiler:Orihime's kidnapping and the Battle of Karakura]]. His arguably worst act, however, was to [[spoiler:release an imprisoned Mayuri Kurotsuchi to act as his second lieutenant, whom would later become his successor and a major proprietor in the Quincy genocide]]. To say nothing of his absolutely ''fucked-up'' way to give Ichigo his powers back, which simultaneously causes him to gain an inner hollow.

* KarmaHoudini: He put the Hougyoku inside of Rukia, without her consent and basically hand-delivering it to Aizen in the process, and all he got for it was an elbow to the face. Him causing Orihime to be kidnapped by telling her to StayInTheKitchen has also been glossed over by everyone, including the readers. And that's just for starters. Recently, he was very aware of [[spoiler:Tsukishima's existence and his powers, yet did nothing to stop his MindRape of everyone Ichigo knows.]] He's consantly withholding information and is never called out on it by anyone and still treated as a trustworthy person by nearly every character in the series.
