To say nothing of his absolutely ''fucked-up'' way to give Ichigo his powers back, which simultaneously causes him to gain an inner hollow.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: For a long long time, Urahara's role has been to sit back and manipulate everyone else into taking out Aizen, despite being indirectly responsible for every event in the series so far, but he moved to the front lines twice so far: First when the Arrancar first appeared in the world of the living, and in 402, to take on Aizen. Yoruichi is just as bad but she finally got in on the action in 403.

* ReplacementScrappy: In-universe for [[spoiler:Hiyori.]]

* TheRival: Aizen, Mayuri...[[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and possibly Soi Fon]], who may or may not be a [[LesYay love-rival]] for Yoroichi. They are all one-sided, in their own way, but Soi Fon's in particular will probably be the death of him.

* SuddenlyAlwaysKnewThat: As suited for the former 3rd seat of the 2nd Divison, and a childhood friend of Yoruichi, but a bit of a surprise for the reader, he was one of the more competent and skilled hand to hand fighters in all of Soul Society. This may be a contrast to Mayuri who doesn't seem to be as good at that (it was once an explicit part of his job description), but is supposedly a master of ''Kido''.
* TheOtherDarrin: The English actor for ''Ichimaru'' takes over as the voice for Urahara, from episode 231 onwards.

The father of Ichigo, Yuzu and Karin. He's a doctor at a small clinic and, apart from some rather odd parenting techniques, seems to be an otherwise normal human who can't even see ghosts like Ichigo and Karin. [[spoiler:Later revealed to be a former Captain of the Gotei 13 who knew about Ichigo being a Substitute Shinigami all along as well as Rukia's presence and Kon's occasional replacement of Ichigo. His Zanpakuto is Engetsu.]]

* AsYouKnow: Isshin and Urahara discuss the Visoreds and the Arrancar, informing each other of much information they both already know, for the benefit of the audience... and the Modsouls nearby. As of the ''Turn Back the Pendulum'' arc, it's not even ''correct'' information.

[[spoiler: and it's noticable that, excluding Riruka, the only Fullbringers who give their shinigami opponents a run for their money are the Fullbringers who don't receive Ginjou's power-up from Ichigo: Tsukishima and Moe.]]

* WhatTheHellHero: A more subdued case, but she rightfully calls Ichigo out on his hero complex, something that fans (and his own friends) have taken issue with for years.

* FanNickname: In-universe and reserved in the dub, she's called "snaggletooth" by Ichigo and Shinji.

* FanNickname: He had multiple nicknames before his real name was revealed, including "Aizen Jr." (because of a FaceFramedInShadow moment). Two others were "Ramen Guy" (due to him claiming that he just likes carrying bowls of ramen around) and "Slickback" (due to his hairstyle). And now he's letting some hair strands hanging out, his hair is being called the "SEX HAIR" by some.

* FanNickname: This being Bleach's specialty, Tsukishima's gotten many:
** "Bookman" was a common penname for him, before his name was revealed and continues to be popular because it explains how he gets people under Book of the End's influence.
** Most tend to shorten his name to "Tsuki", nowadays.
** His InSeriesNickname "Shuu-chan" is gaining popularity within the fanbase too.

His Fullbring "Book of the End" allows him to transform his bookmark into a katana purported to be able to cut anything; however, it has become increasingly clear that [[spoiler:it also allows him to [[HighOctaneNightmareFuel implant his existence into a target's (this includes people]] ''[[HighOctaneNightmareFuel and]]'' [[HighOctaneNightmareFuel inanimate objects) past]]]] without leaving a wound. Through this, he can make himself a friend or an enemy of that person [[spoiler:or, with objects, retroactively gain experience of them, or lay traps, for example.]] Apparently, the effect is removed if the target is stabbed again. The details are not fully explained, but according to [[VillainsNeverLie Tsukishima himself]] this is different from [[spoiler:[[MakeWrongWhatOnceWentRight altering the timeline]] or [[FakeMemories implanting false memories]]; changes can only be applied to one target at a time, and while the changes will affect Tsukishima as well, they don't cause sweeping rewrites to the world at large. As a catch, also, if the person given these false memories starts to be defused, he can re-brainwash them ''and cause them physical pain '' as he does so. although the effects are also undone if Tsukishima dies.]] According to [[spoiler: Riruka]], Book of The End [[spoiler: actually has two blades: one that can falsify history, and the other one that has no special ability other than an extremely sharp cutting edge which Riruka states he uses to kill people.]]

* KarmaHoudini: He put the Hougyoku inside of Rukia, without her consent and basically hand-delivering it to Aizen in the process, and all he got for it was an elbow to the face. Him causing Orihime to be kidnapped by telling her to StayInTheKitchen has also been glossed over by everyone, including the readers. And that's just for starters. Recently, he was very aware of [[spoiler:Tsukishima's existence and his powers, yet did nothing to stop his MindRape of everyone Ichigo knows.]] He's consantly withholding information and is never called out on it by anyone and still treated as a trustworthy person by nearly every character in the series.
