Her Arcade and Story Mode may as well be called, "[[AttentionDeficitOohShiny ADHD Quest]]". In ''Continuum Shift'' she... pretty much does the same things she did in the first game... [[spoiler:until Jubei asks her to tag along with Ragna and Noel in Ikaruga in the end of CS.

** BadassCape: <ore like Badass Sleeves. The long sleeves on the sides of his clothing can expand in size at will, and can be used to hit opponents... Hard!

* FetishFuelStationAttendant: My God! Has a Skin-Tight Black Shirt. Has a Beautiful Face, Slender Body and Legs. Is a [[{{Bishounen}} Bishounen]].

* LightIsNotGood: As a contrast to Ragna's DarkIsNotEvil nature, Jin dresses in light colors, has blonde hair, is celebrated as the "Hero of Ikaruga", and is a {{Bishonen}}. He's also probably one of the biggest {{Jerkass}}es in all of video games. [[spoiler:This is inverted later by his HeelFaceTurn, where he doesn't become a straight example of LightIsGood, but is probably getting there.]]

* NietzscheWannabe: In his pre-battle conversation with [[MoralityPet Tsubaki]], he states that things like joy and sorrow are all lies and that the only truth in this world is death. This might have been caused by how he felt completely empty up to ''Calamity Trigger'', thus this is his face for Tsubaki.

* JokeCharacter: Most of her screen time is CS' story mode is in the gag reels, complete with total loss for any [[AxCrazy homicidal intent]] and very annoying ValleyGirl dialogue.

* GoKartingWithBowser: He appears in Teach Me Ms. Litchi Reloaded episode 3, alongside Jin and Noel to teach Taokaka about their organization.

* ClusterFBomb: Far too much of his dialogue outside of each game's True Ending consists of him cursing and raging at everyone with little to no provocation.
*CrowningMomentOfAwesome: In the ''Continuum Shift'' True Ending, [[spoiler:he's had his ass kicked by Terumi many, many times over. While Ragna won't give in, Terumi looks like he's just about to kill him. Out of nowhere, Lambda comes in and performs a HeroicSacrifice to save Ragna. Ragna hugs Lambda as she dies and absorbs her powers. He then receives his EleventhHourSuperpower and proceeds to beat the living shit out of Terumi!]]

* Lolicon: Accused of being a pedophile by Platinum. It does not help that he somewhat tells a waitress he likes little girls.

** It's even lampshaded in one of the "Teach Me Miss Litchi" sketches.

* ThemeMusicPowerUp: He's not the only one who has this, but in one of Jin's paths were he has no access to his weapon, this plays the moment right before he regains control of it... and then you get to control Unlimited Jin in response. Badass indeed.

* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: Inverted. Toyed with by Kokonoe during a Help Me session. Kokonoe compares Rachel to a person rushing to the airport to catch her boyfriend before he leaves the country, obviously referring to Ragna. Rachel immediately finds it outrageous. Of course, with the Tsundere that she is....

[[spoiler: He is a failed attempt at creating the Black Beast. This mutation was caused, in part, by Terumi's experiments in creating the Azure Grimoire. He also speaks clearly for the first time in many years when he confronts Litchi, but only for a brief moment. By the end of the story, however, he ends up captured by Relius and used as a bargaining chip for Litchi. It's also revealed his real name was Lotte "Roy" Carmine.]]

*MeaningfulName:[[spoiler: Lotte "Roy" Carmine.]] Also, Arakune sounds similar to arachnid.

Don't let the CuteShotaroBoy looks fool you, [[{{Shotacon}} unless you can't help it]]. Carl is a vigilante seeking Ragna's bounty, which [[CaptainObvious pretty much everyone in the world wants]]. [[MarionetteMaster He controls an autonomous puppet called Nirvana]], which he refers to as his sister. His Drive ability, Automaton, lets him control Nirvana.

*AxCrazy: If what Hakumen says during Carl's arcade story is to be believed, then Nirvana is ''not'' affecting Carl's mind, and it is Carl's own bloodthirst that is moving Nirvana. He is also prone to mercurial spurts of unprovoked aggression.
*BadAss: He's stronger than [[MemeticBadass BANG]] [[RatedMForManly SHISHIGAMI]]

*CassandraTruth: No one seems to believe Carl when he says that Nirvana is his sister. Understandable, as he's the only one who can talk to her.

*CreepyChild: Carl's cheerful attitude contrasted with his callous and aggressive acts is often a little unsettling.

*DissonantSerenity: [[http://www.aksysgames.com/blazblue/carl/ Ever courteous, Carl always has a smile on his face, even when he's staring down a target.]] Or threatening to kill them.
*ExtremityExtremist: Sure, he'll hit you with punches, flags, toys and a giant gear, but neither he nor his "sister" kick in battle. Might also be due to his short stature; he wouldn't get a whole lot of reach.

*TheWoobie: As standard for most of BlazBlue's sympathetic characters, the more one learns about Carl's story, the more one wants to give the poor kid a hug.

The sub-boss of the first game, and former leader of the [[PowerRangers 6 legendary heroes]] who defeated the Black Beast. Looks like a cross between [[GuiltyGear Justice]] and [[FinalFantasyVII Sephiroth]], complete with a giant katana as a weapon which he wields like Genjuro from SamuraiShodown. After their victory over the Black Beast, Hakumen was trapped inside the Gate for centuries until he was finally released when Ragna appeared. Unlike the other characters, he does not have a regular super meter, instead using a new meter that gradually stores up to 8 orbs, used for special moves and Distortion Drives. The meter fills up automatically over time in addition to being filled by attacking and defending. His Drive ability, Zanshin (God Slash), is a multi-purpose countering maneuver.

[[IKnewIt He's actually Jin Kisaragi]] [[TimeParadox from an alternate timeline]]. After Jin's Story occurs, he is sent back 100 years into the past: the exact time when the Black Beast appears. In his dying state, he is saved by Rachel, who installs him into the Susano'o Unit. He is also given a new Nox Nyctores called Ookami. He fulfills his destiny and becomes a true hero, [[spoiler: but seals himself inside of the Edge to contain it, which is another area of the Boundary.]] 90 years later he is freed by Kokonoe. His Astral Finish involves him performing a counter. If the opponent falls for it, the background suddenly switches to the style of an ancient Japanese scroll painting and he unleashes a fatal strike upon his opponent which fills the screen with blood.

*[[spoiler:TheAtoner: For his various unpleasant personality traits as Jin]]

*{{Badass}}: Probably one of the biggest badasses in the world of BlazBlue.

*BroughtDownToNormal: In the first game, he can only use at best, a fifth of his total strength due to the rest being left behind in the Edge. Arguably less serious version of this trope, as he's still implied to be one of the stronger characters in the game. He's seemingly regaining strength in the sequel, though.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: His Continuum Shift story [[spoiler: has him slice ''time itself'' so he can view another timeline where he was defeated by Arakune.]]

*{{Fantastic Racism}}/{{Fantastic Slur}}: Jubei makes it clear that "Grimalkin" is not a polite term. Hakumen is clearly unfond of servitude to Kokonoe, so he's probably using it on purpose.

*GoodIsNotNice: One of the six heroes. Wants to stop the Black Beast. Not exactly a people person.

*[[NinjaPirateZombieRobot Ninja Samurai Zombie Robot]]: And thanks to [[spoiler: having been nearly killed by v-13 and then converted into whatever kind of cyborg robot thing he is]], you can actually make a coherent argument for the "zombie" part!

The FinalBoss of the first game. Nu is a battle android sealed within the Sheol Gate. She's programmed to eliminate all who come near the Gate if they are unrecognizable. Her Drive ability, Sword Summoner, [[ShapedLikeItself lets her manipulate magical swords]]. Though her mannerisms are normally robotic, under certain circumstances it becomes clear she's fully sapient...if slightly deranged.

She recognizes Ragna and [[SplitPersonality switches her personality]] from EmotionlessGirl to {{Yandere}} when conversing with him. She reveals that she's in love with Ragna and wants him to join her in [[NietzscheWannabe destroying]] [[HumansAreBastards the world]]. When he refuses and breaks her heart, [[IfICantHaveYou she goes into a rage and decides to take him by force]]. She also knows Hakumen.

The reason for all of this is because she's a clone of Saya, Jin and Ragna's little sister. Noel is her predecessor. She also possesses a fake Azure Grimoire, and she wants to join with Ragna to complete it, not realizing it's a fake and it'll cause them to [[StableTimeLoop go back in time and become the Black Beast]]. Her Murakumo unit is also a Nox Nyctores and her true purpose is actually to guard the Boundary from all who try to enter it, but since she was dormant Arakune somehow managed to get in. Her Astral Finish has her holding the opponent in place as she conjures a large magical sword that fatally impales them in midair, all in the style of an anime cutscene.

* [[spoiler:HeroicSacrifice: In CS she uses her soul (within Lambda) to give Ragna a power-up to defeat Mu.]]

* TheWoobie: Like almost everyone else, her story mode makes her considerably more sympathetic, especially given her genuine love for Ragna.

* TrueNeutral: She mostly lives by her programming.
* ValleyGirl: In joke endings in ''Continuum Shift''.

After the death of Nu in the first game, Sector Seven reactivates Lambda, her predecessor, with Nu's soul inside it. She looks exactly like Nu except with normal-colored skin, blonde hair, and much more refined Murakumo armor. Considerably more bound by her programming than Nu was, Lambda usually acts far more robotic and serves Kokonoe unquestioningly. [[spoiler: But Nu isn't altogether gone, as the right circumstances can reveal...]]

** American players, however, call her Lamb-Chop instead.

This EleventhHourSuperpower allows him to brutally defeat Terumi in combat for the first time - and then to save Noel from her transformation into Mu. Parts from her regeneration tube are later used to make Ragna's new left arm.]]

* NietzscheWannabe: Her taunts include many allusions to the pointlessness or emptiness of all existence, leading up to "Everything...''[[DissonantSerenity disappear]].''

* {{Tsundere}}: Possibly toward Ragna. Unlike Nu, this is mostly understated, as Lambda is usually almost a mindless shell.

* TheWoobie: Her CS story mode is made of this completely, starting with her suffering in silent agony as she's electroshocked over and over again by callous scientists. ItGotWorse.
* YankTheDogsChain: Her CS joke ending has her momentarily showing signs of individuality and clumsily making friends with Makoto before being returned to Kokonoe's lab. [[spoiler: Her "bad" ending, if Lambda is defeated by the projection of Nu, leaves her alone in a hallucinated world where she can be together with Ragna at last, lying down to sleep next to him. When Jubei finds her body, it's clear what passes for Lambda's mind has been completely shattered, but she has a peaceful smile on her face.]]

[[spoiler: Her Armagus has a negative side-effect: it turns the wielder blind over time. She meets up with Hakumen and it is explained that in his original timeline, when he was still Jin, that Noel died and Tsubaki became his secretary instead. She met the same fate, however, but her courage gave him the strength to press onward, and he named his Camellia attack in her memory. She undergoes a FaceHeelTurn by the end after Hazama manipulates her by explaining that Noel basically stole her life by surviving in this timeline and left her with nothing.]]

* ActionGirl (A cross between this and [[LadyOfWar Lady of War]].)
* AltumVidetur Her specials were given latin names in the english localisation.

Unbeknownst to Noel, he is actually a Captain, and therefore has a higher jurisdiction than both her and Jin. He claims that the Intelligence Department does not operate on a Hierarchical basis. He appears to be quite personable, and apparently is "not good with combat", opting not to assist Noel in her battles against Carl & Jin in the Story.

The FinalBoss of ''Continuum Shift'', and [[MagnificentBastard the mastermind behind every single event that happens in the story of the 1st game]]. Terumi was one of the Six Heroes who defeated the Black Beast. His true form is a ghost, and as such he can [[GrandTheftMe possess any person he wishes]]. After the war, he revealed his true colors and killed Nine when she discovered his true malevolent nature. Afterwards, he cut off Ragna's arm and absconded with his sister Saya to use as the template for the Murakumo Units. Terumi prefers knives as his specialty weapons. His Nox Nyctores/Drive is Ouroboros, which allows him to summon chains that hang in the air and can be used to swing him back and forth or attack his opponents. His Astral Finish summons a bunch of chains from the ground, which form into a [[IfYouKnowWhatIMean really big and long snake]] that eats you.

[[spoiler: He is the creator of the Azure Grimoire, as well as the Black Beast, a failed attempt at creating "Kusanagi", the sword of the god-slayer. He was also the original owner of the Susano'o Unit, making him the original Hakumen, and meaning that he was human at one point before he sold his soul to the unit. He realized, however, that whoever wears the unit is forever linked and enslaved by the "Master Unit Amaterasu", and it is assumed that the thought of him being practically the bitch of a machine drove him insane, driving him to eject from the armor. Eventually, he collaborated with someone, later revealed to be Relius Clover, to create a new body for him - that body being Hazama. His true agenda is to utilize the perfect Murakumo unit (that is, Noel Vermillion) to create Kusanagi in order to destroy Amaterasu, as he believes the world is nothing but a lie and has vowed to plunge it into eternal despair.]]

[[spoiler: His plan fails, however, when Ragna turns Mu back into Noel...except it turns out he was only a distraction and that Amaterasu has already been destroyed while everybody was trying to stop him. In the meantime, while Mu is being returned to normal, he hacks into Takama-gahara and uploads a virus into their system that forces them to contemplate an 'unknown mathematical equation' for the rest of eternity. It is then revealed that he serves the Imperator of the NOL, and wasn't really the mastermind behind everything to begin with. This is debatable, however, since he is the one who abducted and "awakened" the Imperator in the first place.]]

* AxCrazy: Though his motivations are crazy enough, his madness best manifests in Terumi's erratic speech patterns. He switches back and forth from smug sneers and taunts to borderline-hysterical rage at the drop of a hat.

** Some of his move set seems to be based on Dio Brando as well.
* ChaoticEvil: Not much is known about why he [[spoiler: wants to destroy Amaterasu]], but he fits this alignment very well. Pretends to be LawfulEvil as Hazama, who further masquerades as LawfulNeutral to keep his plans under wraps.

* CompleteMonster: Jin may be an [[{{Jerkass}} asshole]], but Terumi was the one who ''started'' the whole thing, and enjoys every minute of the suffering he causes.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: The epic moment where he trolls Ragna in his Arcade mode. [[spoiler: Ragna activates his Azure Grimoire, thinking he can easily trash Terumi, but Terumi just laughs in his face and pretty much says "LOL yours is just a shitty copy of mine."]]

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Reaching ridiculous levels thanks to MemeticMutation. Terumi may be a monster, but he's got style - and a distinct lack of class.

* EvillyAffable: Yes, he's a horrible, horrible human being (and even those last two words are debatable). That said, just about every line he speaks is gold. Especially since he has a much more crass, jovial, and vulgar personality than most [[BigBad evil masterminds]]. It's hard not to crack up at some of the things he says to people, particularly preceding the boss fight with him in Continuum Shift. Couple that with his sheer [[EvilIsCool sense of style]], and you've got a complete bastard players love to hate.

* FallenHero: Subverted. His joining the Six Heroes to save the world was an EnemyMine out of pure self-interest.

* GhostInTheMachine: Literally. [[spoiler: His winquote in a mirror match is "Oh, so they made another one?"]]

* JerkAss: Complete and total.

* MindRape: According to WordOfGod, this is the side effect of being hit with Ouroboros. [[spoiler: He also does thi on-screen to Noel to force her to revert to Mu-12. Noel's screams and anguished cries of "I don't want this!" make it especially heinous.]]
* MoralEventHorizon: [[spoiler: Terumi's brutal MindRape of Noel, ending in her unwilling transformation into Mu-12. He's laughing and enjoying himself the whole way.]]

** He also [[spoiler: abuses Rachel in her bad ending, dragging her into darkness - but not before gleefully kicking her full on in the face whilst mocking her helplessness.]]

*SmugSnake: However, unlike the standard definition of this trope would imply, he's actually a successful villain.

*SNKBoss: He makes v-13 look like a chump (no small feat). He is incredibly fast when fought as a boss, and his super meter and drive meter have auto-gain properties. Oh, and he can also drain your health if he gets close to you or attacks you. Not to mention that one goddamned sky-kick Distortion Drive that knocks off a third of your life that he uses with frightful abandon.

* {{Synchronization}}: [[spoiler: Has a "life-link" with Noel; if he dies, Noel will too. Apparently broken when Noel lost the powers of the "Eye".]]

*BarrierWarrior: One of her moves creates a diamond-shaped shield around her that acts like Hakumen's counter drive. If the opponent hits her, they get blown across the screen.

A fellow classmate of Noel's, Jin's, and Tsubaki's from the Academy. She's part-squirrel. Unfortunately, because of her squirrel-ness, she was constantly made fun of by those around her. Noel & Tsubaki protected her from them, and became fast friends. Responds with great {{Squee}} to anything cute, including Taokaka and Noel in one of the "Teach Me, Miss Litchi!" skits, and ''[[{{Shotacon}} Carl]]'' in a flashback in Noel's story mode.

*EnsembleDarkhorse: Really popular with both the fans and even the producers, despite her limited screentime. She became more of a story presence in ''Continuum Shift''.

*MsFanservice: That outfit is even skimpier than the outfits of Litchi and Noel/Mu-12 combined. The {{Underboobs}} are particularly flattering.

*DastardlyWhiplash: In Taokaka's joke ending in CS, he makes a cameo appearance as this. The moment he is revealed, his theme (which shouldn't be known to the players) starts playing.

She's Jubei and Nine's daughter, but for some reason she doesn't get along very well with Jubei. Despite her unpleasant mannerisms, she tends to act very [[MamaBear motherly]] towards her creations, and she sometimes goes a little...over-the-top with the upgrades she does to them if she's in a good mood, which is somewhat rare. She wants revenge on Terumi for what he did to her family, and this pushes her to behave in ways that aren't always rational.

*CrowningMomentOfFunny: In Tager's joke ending, she starts talking about modifying Bang's body, but then says she wants to test the mods on Hakumen's body first. Cut to Hakumen, who gets a chill down his spine and senses a great danger, even worse than what he felt against the Black Beast.

*MadScientist [[spoiler: She built Tager as he is, including outrageous "enhancements," much to Tager's chagrin. She even has "designs" in mind for Hakumen, which scare even him (and then there's her personality when she thinks loudly about it).]]

However it is not clear whether he actually fights like that or if it was a one-time thing for the Astral Heat.

*PoorCommunicationKills: Where to begin. His help is usually vague at best, and he takes a relatively passive role apparently imposed upon him by his age. An exercise for the reader: see how many StockPhrases associated with the TricksterMentor he spouts at one point or another.

Carl's father. A gifted alchemist known far and wide as "The Puppeteer". He is the one who turned Ada, Carl's sister, into the Nox Nyctores Nirvana and also the mastermind behind the Murakumo units. He is being sought out by Carl, but his whereabouts are currently unknown. According to the Material Collection, he is obsessed with creating "the perfect doll".

He makes his presence known in ''Continuum Shift''. [[spoiler:He appears to be working with the NOL, and wears a mask. He ends up capturing Arakune and using him as bait to lure Litchi, while also making textbook enigmatic appearances in other characters' storylines. It was also confirmed that he turned his wife into a puppet much like the one Ada was turned into.]]

While dying, she gives Ragna the power of her Idea Engine, promising she'd always be with him. This gives Ragna newfound power, allowing him to brutally defeat Terumi in combat for the first time - and then to save Noel from her transformation into Mu. Parts from her regeneration tube are later used to make Ragna's new left arm.]]
