* TookALevelInJerkass: While under Doji's alliance, he became cold-hearted, emotionless, and ruthless to even the point of almost destroying Dark Bull and Flame Sagittario. He shows to be extremely maniacal as he was shown in Episode 9 and only wants destruction. However, he came back to normal after his second battle with Gingka.

He never lost to Reji, the battle had no outcome.

* TheWorfEffect: Not as bad as most characters. In ''Fusion'': He lost against only Ryuga, Reiji, and Gingka. In ''Masters'', he lost against Masamune twice and Tsubasa. Afterwards, he defeated Aleksei, but was the first one taken out of the 3-on-3 match between him, Gingka, and Masamune vs Julian, Sophie, and Wales. His only wins in the World Championships were Aleksei and the tag team match against Wild Fang & Excalibur with more effort on Tsubasa. He did end up getting better by the end of ''Masters'' defeating Argo and most of ''Fury'', including helping Masamune and King defeat two of the Nemesis Bladers.

* ChekhovsGun: {{Subverted}}, as his parts-switching tactics from an episode way back are brought back for his battle against Reiji in Battle Bladers when Yu offers his Flame Libra's Performance Tip. Unfortunately, even this part switch-up isn't enough to save him from a devastating loss to Reiji, but it does let Sagittario hang in there long enough for Kenta to defy his foe's attempts to terrify him into submission.

While Lighting Lightning L-Drago accomplished it through what appeared to be dark energy, the next generations used their reverse rotation in tandem with rubber-plated parts. parts (and probably still dark energy in the anime). !!Gingka Hagane
!!!Voiced By: Aki Kanada (Japanese), Creator/RobertTinkler (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ginga.png]]

The protagonist of the series who inspires others. He is a firm believer in ThePowerOfFriendship and believes that bey battles are meant to be fun.
----
* TheAce: He’s especially skilled and one of the strongest Beybladers around.
* BigBrotherMentor: To Kenta. [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] in ''Metal Fury'' as Kenta feels that he CantCatchUp even after Gingka's mentorship and leaves the group, instead traveling with [[WorldsStrongestMan Ryuga]], whose indirect TrainingFromHell helps Kenta TakeALevelInBadass much more than Gingka's ever did.
* BigEater: Gingka can really pack away those burgers.
* BlowYouAway: His Tornado Wing, Storm Bringer, and Cosmic Tornado special moves stand out.
* TheChosenOne: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the season of Autumn and planet Earth.
* CriticalStatusBuff: Cosmic Pegasus' Final Drive triggers when its spin power is low, boosting its attack power for an all-out final attack.
* DeathFromAbove: His SignatureMove, the Starblast/Starbooster Attack.
* TheDrifter: Though he [[IChooseToStay decides to stay]] with Kenta & Madoka.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: While he loves burgers, he loathes hotdogs with a passion.
* FreeRangeChildren: Sure, it's a kid's show, but social services should have caught Gingka within the first day of his cross-country trek.
* GeniusDitz: Whilst he has his dumb moments, he's not really an idiot. He seems extremely knowledgeable in blading and can cope with things on his own.
* GoodIsNotDumb: He's a good deal smarter than most shonen heroes. He seems to dumb up a little bit in ''Masters'', but even then, he isn't stupid.
* TheHero: As the protagonist and hero spanning all three seasons, Gingka definitely counts.
* HeroicRematch: In Fusion, he lost to only three people, (Ryuga, Yu, and Phoenix) and defeated them awesomely in his rematches with them.
* HotBlooded: He is very passionate about ninety percent of anything he does with frequent shouting and expressing his emotions in a volatile way. He's also very excitable when it comes to matches.
* {{Pegasus}}: His Bey's motif.
* LightIsGood: Most of his special moves (Starblast Attack, Starbooster Attack, etc.) have Pegasus raining down with speeding blue light.
* LightningWindJuxtaposition: Throughout ''Metal Masters'', he's the Wind to Masamune's Lightning.
* MeaningfulName: Gingka means 'Galaxy', referencing his numerous CosmicMotifs. Hagane, his surname, translates to 'Metal', referencing his status as TheHero of the Metal Saga.
* MissingMom: Gingka's mother is never seen, nor mentioned once in the series.
* PrimaryColorChampion: His hair is red, while his iconic jacket and headband are blue.
* PointlessBandAid: Wears a band-aid at all times, seemingly just as an accessory.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red to Kyoya's Blue. Gingka is excitable and cheerful, while Kyoya is much more aloof and stoic.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Wears a long white scarf, which is iconic enough that the Russian DJ refers to him as the "Japanese scarf model", and is one of the strongest bladers in the show.
* StockShonenHero: A KidHero with a noticeable case of AnimeHair. He is a [[TheChosenOne Legendary Blader]], [[BigEater likes food]], and has some goals ToBeAMaster. He lacks the normal IdiotHero traits for the most part, though even though he's very HotBlooded.
* SuperPrototype: His second beyblade, Galaxy Pegasus is the prototype version of Storm Pegasus. Despite this, it is ''extremely'' powerful, but originally uncontrollable, thus why the weaker Storm Pegasus is the final version. It chose Gingka to wield it, though, so he's able to control it.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: Gingka uses this in most of his matches, using the power of his friends and rivals to save Ryuga's bey spirit and defeat the dark power, defeating Damian's Hades Kerbecs with the power of his friends, and using the power of the [[spoiler: Star Fragment]] of his friends, rivals, allies, and old enemies beys to defeat [[spoiler: Rago, Pluto, and Nemesis's FusionDance]].
* ToBeAMaster: Not as much as Hikaru or Masamune, but his goal is to be the strongest blader in the world.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Hamburgers.

!!!Voiced By: Creator/SatoshiHino (Japanese), Creator/PeterCugno (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kyoya_mfury.png]]

The former leader of the Face Hunters and Gingka's biggest rival.
----
* AdaptationalJerkass: A lot meaner than he was in the manga (in the manga, he was a pretty friendly guy).
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Just like Kai, Kyoya is not allowed to defeat Gingka. And this does not settle well with him, at first.
* AntiHero: Though Kyoya does fight on the side of good, he is very harsh toward others and shows no mercy toward his opponents.
* BadassLongcoat: Wears a long, green one at all times, though he drops it in ''Fury''.
* BigDamnHeroes: In TheMovie. [[spoiler:He stopped Bakim's Beyblade from blowing Helios and Gingka away.]]
* BloodKnight: Isn't afraid to get into a battle with anyone especially if that person is a tough opponent (like Gingka).
* BlowYouAway: His Bey Leone uses many wind-based attacks.
* CharacterDevelopment: Kyoya's arrogance at the beginning of the series was unrivaled. He didn’t care about his teammates very much, even though he respects his bey he does not care for it. But this [[{{HeelFaceTurn}} changes]] later in the series. During the survival battle, Rock Leone's performance tip cracks as a result of using a special move against Hyoma which he comes to know. During his battle against Yu Tendo in Episode 22, he withdraws his bey from the battle because he cared for his bey, which shows a change in his personality.
* TheChosenOne: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the season of Spring.
* CuteLittleFangs: Has a pair, but they aren't really 'cute' so much as 'menacing'.
* {{Determinator}}: Kyoya has climbed up dangerous mountains, scared off wolves, defeated hundreds of bladers that kept challenging him all night, and even took down a ''tornado''! This dude will do anything it takes to defeat Ginja and has not given up on that dream yet. This trope is at its peak during his battle with Damian Hart, Kyoya battles hard, and for most of the battle feels out of his league due to Damian's overwhelming power. Kyoya fights on to the point where he is dragged into Kerbecs' gate which is Damian's World giving Kyoya a huge disadvantage. After being battered and beaten by Kerbecs over and over Kyoya remembers what he's fighting for, at that point, Kyoya changes the realm from the underworld to the wilderness making it the lion's territory.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Of ''Metal Fusion''. Kyoya was Gingka's greatest rival until Ryuga came along, and became an ally after going through CharacterDevelopment.
* EvilLaugh: Sported an impressive one before his second fight with Gingka.
* GeniusBruiser: After his HeelFaceTurn, he gets more mature and wiser. Even before then, his smarts were nothing to sneeze at.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Gained these briefly early on in ''Metal Fusion''.
* GoodIsNotNice: A good guy definitely but he doesn't sugarcoat things toward others.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: His cross-shaped scars beneath his eyes signify his status as an AntiHero.
* HeelFaceTurn: After losing to Gingka a second time and discovering that the Dark Nebula was using him, Kyoya decided to turn over a new leaf.
* HypocriticalHeartwarming: He can be a jerk to those around him at times, but he will NOT tolerate anyone else doing it. A perfect example of this is when he calls out Rago for badmouthing Ryuga after the latter's gruesome defeat.
* IcyBlueEyes: He has blue eyes and is not the nicest guy, though his eyes aren't as pale as the usual variety.
* InformedLoner: He often refers to himself as an "independent lone lion", but was introduced as the leader of a one hundred blader team in ''Fusion'' and almost always has Benkei at his side. In ''Masters'', he becomes the leader of another team to compete in the Beyblade World Championship and spends half of ''Metal Fury'' traveling with Gingka and the others in search of Legender Bladers. Even when he separates from them, Tithi and Yu eventually take their place as his travel companions. Aguma even calls him out on this at one point.
--> '''Aguma:''' Your determination? That's funny. It's funny because I always see you with Gingka and the rest of that little playgroup of yours.
--> '''Kyoya:''' *scoffs* Playgroup?
--> '''Auguma:''' What part of being in a playgroup speaks about your determination? No matter how much you deny it, you're just a sheep in the flock. Isn't that right?
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: [[spoiler: During his battle with Ryuga, the semi-physical manifestation of L-Drago pierced his chest. It's as weird as it sounds.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: Big time in the beginning. Everyone was fair game to his viciously fierce attitude, including his own Face Hunters. After his second defeat to Gingka, he still isn’t very friendly, and can sometimes be selfish, but he mellows out considerably.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: After his HeelRealization, he’s still not outwardly the friendliest guy, but he’s genuinely loyal to those who count on him, and will lend a hand to help, looking out for his companions.
* KingOfBeasts: His bey, Leone, stands in for the constellation of Leo, and as such has its motif as a lion.
* TheLancer: During ''Metal Fusion'', as Gingka's rival, foil and de-facto second in command.
* LargeHam: His seiyuu was having just a ''bit'' too much fun during Kyoya's first episodes.
* LonersAreFreaks: He even admits it himself!
** MisunderstoodLonerWithAHeartOfGold: He's actually a pretty decent guy, as long as you don't piss him off or if you're Gingka. Even in the manga, he's a whole lot nicer than his anime counterpart.
* MrFanservice: Kyoya is very muscular and his attire usually shows off a lot of his muscles. ''Especially'' his ''Metal Fury'' appearance.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: You won't believe the trouble he goes through just to have a rematch with Gingka.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Blue to Gingka and Benkei's Red, being much calmer and quieter than both of them.
* TheRival: He’s one of Gingka’s greatest rivals alongside Ryuga.
* SlasherSmile: He only does this when he's battling Gingka, and/or he's about to go into {{ax crazy}} mode.
* SleevesAreForWimps: In ''Fury'', he ditches the BadassLongcoat in favour of wearing a sleeveless shirt, showcasing his toughness.
* SquareRaceRoundClass: Kyoya's bey is a Defense-type, but his fighting style is notoriously aggressive and offensive. This actually works to his advantage, as it makes Leone effectively a LightningBruiser, able to dish out as much damage as it can take.
* TheStoic: He is known to be one of the more serious characters in the show. He'll show his NotSoStoic side whenever he's fighting Gingka though.
* TallDarkAndSnarky: He's tall, has dark green hair, and is one of the more sarcastic characters in the series.
* TookALevelInKindness: After his HeelRealization, while never the friendliest blader, and never holds back when he blades, or speaks his mind, Kyoya has become more well-adjusted, genuinely loyal, and even having his moments of understanding.
* TsurimeEyes: His eyes contrast other characters by being noticeably slanted upwards.
* VictoryIsBoring: Has no time for weak opponents, and always [[{{BloodKnight}} craves]] [[{{WorthyOpponent}} a challenge.]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: Kyoya is very tough around others, even around his allies and friends, but he can always be counted on and helps them out.
* YouCantFightFate: Realizes this after meeting up with Yu and Tithi, declaring that he has to be surrounded by others.

----
* BigEater: He is frequently shown eating, having a larger appetite for hamburgers than even ''Gingka''.
* BigFun: He is considerably rotund, and is incredibly jovial and fun to be around.
* CantCatchUp: While he is a very strong blader, he, unfortunately, suffers this due to not learning any new special moves past ''Fusion'' or getting his Bey to get enhanced. He's still far from a pushover though.
* CatchPhrase: "B-b-b-bull!". The DJ mimics this whenever announcing his presence.
* DemotedToExtra: Very important in ''Fusion'', secondary in ''Masters'', barely present in ''Fury''.
* TheDragon: To Kyoya while both were still antagonists. He also led the Face Hunters in Kyoya's absence to train.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Even as a Face Hunter, Benkei draws the line when the threat of outright death is involved.
* GentleGiant: Is a little slow on knowing boundaries sometimes, but is generally a very supportive and affectionate friend.
* HeelFaceTurn: Starts off as an antagonistic Face Hunter, but becomes a loyal friend of Kenta, and the rest of our heroes.
* HeroWorshipper: Boy does he have it bad for Kyoya.
* HotbloodedSideburns: His sideburns let you know he is one of the most HotBlooded bladers in the show.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold:
** Not as prominent in his introduction, but when Kyoya is forced to join Doji, Benkei goes to great lengths to bring Kyoya back. Once Benkei gains Dark Bull, and Kyoya is gone, Benkei becomes far more honourable, even saving his sworn enemies on a few occasions.
** After he makes a HeelFaceTurn, Benkei can still be outspoken with a tempered, but he’s a loyal friend who always looks out for his friends and supports them.
* LargeHam: He has NoIndoorVoice, always shouting everything at the top of his lungs, and is incredibly over-the-top in everything he does.
* NiceGuy: Intimidating as he can be, he’s definitely this once he becomes friends with our heroes.
* OddFriendship: His friendships with Kyoya and Kenta fall under this, as the former is an incredibly aloof {{stoic}} while the latter is a ShrinkingViolet with little self-confidence. Benkei, however, is incredibly loud, determined and hammy.
* PaperThinDisguise: As [[MaskedLuchador Masked Bull]] for Wild Fang. Subverted because he isn't fooling anybody.
* UndyingLoyalty: He would follow Kyoya to the ends of the earth, though in a strange case, it was Benkei who made his HeelFaceTurn first, trying to help Kyoya do the same.
* StarterVillain: The very first antagonist in the series Gingka and friends face.
* SuperMode: When using his ultimate special move, Maximum Stampede, his bull gains shining yellow armor.
* TookALevelInKindness: Starts off as a StarterVillain, but evolved into one of the nicest and most supportive allies in the show.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Hamburgers to the point in ''Shogun Steel'' he runs a burger joint called Bull Burger.

* CantCatchUp: He has a big issue with this in ''Fury'', fearing that he may be holding his friends back. [[spoiler:He does catch up in the end, and ''how''.]]

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: To Gingka. L-Drago and Pegasus are two sides of the same coin that come from the same star that gave birth to Beyblade, meaning that both Beys should theoretically be equal in power. However, the same cannot be said for their Bladers as Ryuga proves to be on another level than Gingka each time they face off.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Has a darker skin tone than most other Japanese characters, although whether it's ethnicity related or just a tan from [[spoiler:spending a lot of time training out in the wilderness]] is never addressed.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: ''Something'' changed in Ryuga after ''Fusion'' when [[spoiler: he's freed from L-Drago's possession.]]
* AntiHero: Sorta becomes this in ''Masters'' that while he isn't evil anymore, his brutality is still there.
* AxCrazy: Most definitely so in '' Fusion'' where he is prone to evil laughter while crushing his opponents.
* BerserkButton: He has a few:
** Allowing the bey to control the blader. Ryuga himself stated that was a big mistake on his part to let L-Drago take over him and devoted himself to allowing that never happens again.
** Hades Inc. in general. Ryuga felt used by them due to technically creating L-Drago and Dark Nebula. He made it clear by being the one that takes them down at the end.
** Other left-rotating beys. It's not much but Ryuga did seem really annoyed that Julian's Gravity Destroyer also spins to the left claiming that L-Drago should be the only left rotating bey in the world.
%%* Big Bad: Of ''Fusion''.

** And again, [[spoiler:albeit unintentionally, he rescued Gingka and Masamune from the black hole they were stuck in when he fired his beyblade at Hades City. [[NiceJobBreakingItHero On the other hand]], it almost blew them up.]]
** Another one was after [[spoiler: losing to Rago, he gave his Star Fragment power to Kenta, enabling him to become a Legendary Blader.]]
* BloodKnight: Is very eager to fight strong opponents but not for the thrill of a good battle. More to drain their bey's energies to make L-Drago even more stronger.
* BrokenPedestal: In ''Fusion'' Yu admired Ryuga and only joined the Dark Nebula because of him. But once after Yu lost in Battle Bladers, Yu slowly lost respect for him as he did nothing to save Yu from being attacked by Reiji and finally stop admiring him after his cruel method of defeating Tsubasa and draining his energy. The two haven't really spoke to each other since ''Fusion''.
* TheChosenOne: One of the Legendary Bladers; he stands for the season of Summer.
* CoatCape: he has one as part of his main attire.
* CurbStompBattle: Due to his immense power level, he dishes them out left and right, usually destroying his opponents' beys outright. Even after joining the side of good, he still demolishes nearly anyone he fights within ten seconds. The only ones who actually beat him are Gingka and [[spoiler:Rago]].
* DarkIsEvil: He’s the Beyblader of L Drago the dark counterpart of Pegasus, in the first season he has a dark aura when using L Drago. In later seasons however he now has a Red/Orange aura when using L Drago.
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler:His cruelty and evil is a result of L-Drago's power over him. L-Drago can completely possess him as well. He eventually manages to purge L-Drago of the darkness and free himself.]]

%%* DragonInChief: To Doji

* EvilWeapon: L-Drago. [[spoiler:Subverted with its evolution; Meteor L-Drago.]]
* HandBlast: One of his favorite moves in Beyblade matches.
* HazyFeelTurn: After his last battle with Gingka in ''Fusion'' and after the latter saves him, Ryuga seems to take on a better leaf. However, he still does things on his own and still shows some of his BloodKnight tendencies at times.
%%* HellBentForLeather
* ItsPersonal: As even Gingka states, Ryuga helping out Team Gan Gan Galaxy during the match against Team Starbreaker wasn't because of the goodness of his heart. It's for his personal grudge against Hades Inc. due to their involvement with L-Drago and the Dark Nebula organization in general.
* JerkAss: He makes [[ArrogantKungFuGuy Kyoya]] look like Gingka. Whether he’s a member of Dark Nebula, [[DemonicPossession possessed by L-Drago,]] or doing things on his own accord, Ryuga’s consistent characteristic is his hostility, whether in Beyblade, or in attitude.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: After being freed from L-Drago’s control, while he’s still self-centred, he has sometimes helped out Gingka and his friends, and even helped Tsubasa AND Kenta overcome both their respective struggles in ''Masters'' and ''Fury''.
* JustToyingWithThem: He usually holds back his power to give his enemies a HopeSpot before he obliterates them. Whenever he wants a fight ended quickly (in his words, when he "doesn't have time for it"), it usually will end quickly.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:His battle with Rago nearly did him in, and giving his power to Kenta sealed his fate.]] Though it is unsure, since he was last seen looking at his "friends" from above.
* LifeDrain: L-Drago's specialty. While Lighting L-Drago accomplished it through what appeared to be dark energy, the next generations used their reverse rotation in tandem with rubber-plated parts. He can do this at such a level that simply throwing his bey into the stadium is enough to win a fight due to it absorbing the power of any attacks.
* TheMentor: Surprisingly, he becomes this to Gingka, Tsubasa, and Kenta. Gingka to help him harness the power of Galaxy Pegasus more, Tsubasa to help him overcome the dark power after being corrupted by L-Drago, and Kenta (indirectly) to help toughen up the boy when he felt like he [[CantCatchUp couldn't catch up]] to everyone else.
* PetTheDog: Even he has a few from time to time.
** He gives Kenta a cooked fish to eat when he’s starving and exhausted on their travels.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: [[spoiler:For all the trouble he caused throughout ''Fury'', including destroying the chance at guaranteeing Nemesis being sealed away, he manages to transfer his remaining power and L-Drago’s star fragment into [[OnlyFriend Kenta’s]] Sagittario.]]
* RedEyesTakeWarning: [[spoiler:When L-Drago possesses him, his eyes glow red.]]
* SealedEvilInACan: L-Drago was sealed away by Gingka's village in ancient times due to being destructive and evil.
* ShadowArchetype: He basically represents what Kyoya would’ve [[JerkWithAHeartOfJerk became]] and [[ItsAllAboutMe remained]] if he hadn’t been [[DefeatMeansFriendship defeated]] by Gingka.
%%* ShockAndAwe: In ''Fusion''.
%%* StarPower: In ''Masters''. Specifically, meteors.
* SlasherSmile: His ''default expression'' in ''Fusion'' (as seen above). He [[TheStoic loses it]] in ''Masters'' and ''Fury''.
* StrongAndSkilled: While L-Drago already is a powerful bey, the reason why Ryuga is able to use its full strength in ''Masters'' and ''Fury'' is due to knowing all its strengths and weaknesses, which is especially shown in his battle against Ginka, who did not know the full strength of his new bey, Galaxy Pegasus and Cosmic Pegasus.
* WorldsStrongestMan: He has built a massive reputation for being overwhelmingly powerful, to the point that he's only ever lost two battles in the entire series. It's even more apparent due to the fact that he enjoys letting his enemies think they have a chance before one of his many OneHitKill attacks inevitably come.
%%* YouHaveFailedMe: Both of which are punishable by becoming a meal for L-Drago.

[[quoteright:292:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tsubasa_otori_png.png]]

A mysterious blader who Gingka first encounters in a tournament. He later joins the Dark Nebula not long after that but it turns out [[spoiler:He was a spy sent by the WBBA]]. Graceful and fair in battle, Tsubasa is one of Gingka's strongest allies and rivals who later joins him as the third member of Team Gangan Galaxy.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: The manga omits everything about him being TheMole, reducing his role to a Dark Nebula blader. Due to this, he doesn't join Gan Gan Galaxy in the manga version of ''Masters''.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: He's this to Yu and Hyoma. In Yu's case Tsubasa's Earth Eagle can effectively NoSell a lot of Libra's attacks and in Hyoma's due to Tsubasa relying on aerial attacks can make Aries's spin track completely useless in defense.
%%* AmbiguouslyBrown
* AscendedExtra: He was a secondary character in ''Fusion'' and while important, arrived late in the season and often was missing in some episodes. Come ''Masters'' he's a main character who is the third member of Gangan Galaxy as well as having his own arc to overcoming the darkness within himself.
* BerserkButton: Don't call his battling style rigid.
%%* BewareTheNiceOnes
* BlowYouAway: His beyblade is an Eagle, and some of his special moves are wind-based.
* CantCatchUp: Played completely straight in ''Metal Fury''. Despite Tsubasa's efforts to go on a training journey, he's unable to handle any legendary blader he faces. He also never gets a Bey upgrade or learns any new special moves.
* GoodAllAlong: [[spoiler:It turns out that he was never on the Dark Nebula's side to being with. He was actually working with the WBBA in investigating the Dark Nebula.]]
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: He's quite pretty-looking, to the point that he would be mistaken for a girl if not for his muscles.
* MeaningfulName: "Tsubasa" meaning "wing". "Otori" also means "great bird".
* TheMole: He pretended to side with Dark Nebula to gather information about L-Drago on behalf of the WBBA.
* NextTierPowerUp: After overcoming the darkness, he got a new special move, Shining Tornado Buster, and he hardly lost a fight by the end of ''Masters''.
%%* NiceGuy
* SixthRanger: Of Gingka's gang in ''Fusion''.
* SuperPoweredEvilSide: Develops this in ''Masters'', due to being [[TheVirus contaminated with Ryuga's dark power]]. He eventually overcomes it.
* TokenAdult: Technically since he debuts as 18 in the series. He's the oldest main character there.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yu_tendo_trans.png]]

One of the more childlike members of the Dark Nebula. He eventually turns over to the good guys after Gingka beats him at battle bladers and he sees just how evil the Dark Nebula is.
----
%%* BadassAdorable
* BerserkButton: Bullying Kenta or Tithi in his presence will definitely set him off.
** And for that matter, never, EVER call Yu a little kid.
* BloodKnight: Gets annoyed if his opponent doesn't put up a good fight, and even gets jealous of others that get to battle strong opponents.
* BrattyHalfPint: He has shades of this.
* CheerfulChild: During his more placid moments he can be this.
* CurbStompBattle: He defeated Kenta, Hikaru, and Benkei, Hyoma, Kyoya, and Gingka effortlessly, (though Gingka defeated him in a rematch). He did tie with Tsubasa, and during ''Masters'', he was on the receiving end of this trope.
* DishingOutDirt: His Libra can use sonic vibrations to turn the ground into sand.
* EvilCounterpart: To Kenta. To be fair, he isn't evil, he only joined the Dark Nebula since Ryuga was strong.
%%* FriendlyEnemy
* GracefulLoser: At least he tends to be a good sport when he loses.
%%* HeelFaceTurn
* {{Hypocrite}}: Gives nicknames to almost all of his friends, but hates being called nicknames himself.
%%* {{Keet}}
* TheNicknamer: The only friends he doesn't nickname are Madoka, Tsubasa, Ryuga, and Tithi.
** Gingka--> Gingky
** Kenta--> Kenchi
** Kyoya--> Yo-Yo
** Benkei--> Ben-Ben
** Masamune--> Masamoo-moo and Mr. Buttinski
** Hikaru--> Hippity-Hop
%%* NumberTwo: Of the Dark Nebula.
%%* PintSizedPowerhouse
%%* TagAlongKid: In ''Masters'', replacing Kenta.
%%* TheSmartGuy: In ''Masters'' reducing Madoka to TheMedic status.
* {{Vibroweapon}}: His Bey's specialty is creating vibrations that can be used for various things like [[QuicksandSucks turning the arena into quicksand,]] firing sonic blades, and most dangerous of all, [[LimitBreak fire his signature Inferno Blast in case he really wants to win.]]
** WorfHadTheFlu: In his battles with Enzo and Damian, his bey was nearly broken in the former, and in the latter, his bey was barely repaired enough to race.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/masamune_trans.png]]

Gingka's second rival. He aspires to be Number 1 and will do anything in order to achieve his dream.
----
* AlmightyJanitor: Was never in any real tournaments, including the Survival Battle, or Battle Bladers before the World Tournament. He's still quite the blader.
* AttackAttackAttack: One of Striker's signature moves is the Barrage Attack which involves it mounting a series of powerful attacks at it's opponent to wear it down quickly. This helps as Striker is one of the strongest Attack-type beys in the Metal saga.
* ArcHero: Of ''Metal Masters''. He is just as important to the story as Gingka as well as the two working together to defeat the final opponent in the season.
* BigEater: Just like Gingka he loves eating a lot.
* TheChosenOne: Subverted; everybody expected him to be the Legendary Blader of Winter, but it turned out to be Chris.
* CurbstompBattle: Was on the receiving end of this by Nile which, fortunately, does lead to him becoming a more humble person.
* DemotedToExtra: Went from being the second most important character in ''Masters'' to barely being a supporting character in ''Fury''.
* {{Determinator}}: After spending an entire episode losing miserably to Gingka, but ''kept coming back until he won'' and training as hard as he could.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Of ''Metal Masters''. Masamune is TheLancer to Gingka, and his character arc is the most important of the season, particularly by the endgame where the central conflict of the arc is more related to him than to Gingka.
%%* CuteBruiser: A rare male example.
* HumblePie: Gets a large slice of it after his ego-crushing defeat at the hands of Nile. Fortunately, it leads to some good character development for him.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: For all his boasting and snarky attitude, he's a nice guy.
* TheLancer: To Gingka of ''Metal Masters''. Humorously, Masamune and his bey are often referred to as a lance that can pierce through anything.
* LargeHam: Doesn't seem to have much of an indoor voice and is constantly announcing his alleged status as the number one blader in the world.
* LightningWindJuxtaposition: Throughout ''Metal Masters'', he's the Lightning to Gingka's Wind.
* MouthyKid: Has no trouble making snarky comments at his opponent's expense.
* NumerologicalMotif: '''One'''. Masamune is constantly referring to himself as the number one blader, his bey's motif is a {{Unicorn}}, his special moves rely on the principle of focusing all his power on a single point, and his status as Gan Gan Galaxy's advance guard means he usually has the first battle in tournaments.
* ShockAndAwe: His special moves, Lightning Swordflash in ''Masters'' and Flash of Lightning in ''Fury'' make use of this.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Big time especially early on in ''Masters''. He often says he is the #1 blader in the world despite literally ''no one'' ever hearing about him before.
* ToBeAMaster: How many times has he exclaimed that he's going to beat Gingka/whatever opponent he has, or that he/Gan Gan is/are number one? Exactly.
* {{Unicorn}}: His bey, Striker, has this motif, as a mirror to Gingka's {{Pegasus}}.
* UnknownRival: To Gingka at first, as Gingka really has no idea who he is and his presently uncontrollable SuperPrototype has him preoccupied at the moment. Most of the episode consists of him getting [[CurbstompBattle curbstompped by Galaxy Pegasus]]. It's only towards the end when Gingka recognizes something in him and he manages to beat Galaxy Pegasus that he manages to earn proper TheRival status.
* TheWorfEffect: Suffers this in the later half of ''Masters''. Due to needing to show the growth of Tsubasa, he was often defeated in order to ensure 3 matches in the tournament.
