[[spoiler: Manuelito at first appears to be merely a vicious bully, but as time goes on it becomes increasingly clear that he is a murderous and sadistic sociopath and budding SerialKiller. After being expelled from Charmbridge in his final year for his Dark extracurricular activities, Manuelito returns to his native Indian territories where he spends the next year rising through the ranks of the Dark Convention and torturing, murdering and skinning the local muggles. Falsely believing that Manuelito was behind multiple attempts to murder her, Alexandra located his home base and goes to the New Mexico Desert to find him and bring him to justice, arriving just as Manuelito's coven was attempting a major dark ritual, leading to a two-day running battle between Alexandra, Manuelito's coven and the local territorial orders in which the ritual is foiled and most of the coven is killed or captured. Seeking revenge, Manuelito plots an attack on the Charmbridge academy during which he is killed by Diana Grimm.]]

[[spoiler: This changes in their second year, as Darla becomes involved with the Dark Magic-studying Mors Mortis Society and, unlike Alex who leaves when she realizes the types of curses the society studies, becomes increasingly drawn into the study of Dark Magic and involved in a creepy relationship with John Manuelito, the society's leader. This ultimately leads her to betray her friends and attempt to murder Alexandra twice, leading to her expulsion at the end of the second year.]]

[[spoiler: However Darla's family's political influence allows her to re-enter Charmbridge in her third year, though under heavy restrictions. Her behaviour continues to be dark and unstable, with her making a pass at David while he is dating Angelique and continuing to study Dark Magic. Ultimately Alexandra's dark obsession with resurrecting her brother leads her to partner with Darla in an attempt to enter the Lands Below. When Alex succeeds she realizes that Darla has given her a fake obol in an attempt to murder her, and again breaks off ties with Darla, whose sanity continues to deteriorate. Ultimately it is revealed that Darla has been responsible for a series of attacks on students throughout the year, including a murder, and Darla attempts to sacrifice the Pritchard's younger sister as part of a dark ritual, which Alexandra prevents leading to Darla's death. Alexandra ultimately learns that all of Darla's actions were motivated by a desire to protect her younger sister, who had been selected for sacrifice for the deathly regiment.]]

He has invented time stop spells that only a dozen wizards worldwide would even be able to <i>cast</i> and he [[spoiler: handily defeated Diana Grimm despite being distracted shielding his daughters from the fallout.]] He's not even fazed by the idea of having to hold off and escape from dozens of aurors.

The daughter of a rich, prominent and politically connected pureblood, she is one of the first students Alexandra meets at Charmbridge and, while not exactly unfriendly to Alexandra and her friends, she and her best friend Angelique Devereux largely run in different circles from Alexandra through her first year at Charmbridge.

* CoolTeacher: The closest Charmbridge seems capable of producing. She's a hardass and a stickler for the rules, but she's the only teacher who ever praises or encourages Alexandra while the other teachers usually mock and belittle her even when she exceeds or excels.

The Dean of Charmbridge Academy and one of the most magically and politically powerful witches in the confederation. She is extremely cold, strict, and intimidating with students, including use of both corporal punishment and [[BalefulPolymorph transfiguration]] as punishments. She is the one sent to recruit Alexandra for Charmbridge but Alexandra's generally uncontrollable behaviour and Dean Grimm's cold and secretive attitude ensures that they have an antagonistic relationship. She has twin sister named Diana, a special inquisitor in charge of the hunt for Abraham Thorn, though their relationship borders on outright estrangement.

Identical twins from the Ozarks. They quickly become among Alexandra's closest friends.
