* There is something about the interrogation of Aaron Davis that foreshadows that Peter is something without the suit. He first attempts to force Aaron to give information using his suit, but his interrogation mode just makes him look like an idiot. However, after Spidey mentions Delmar's Deli, he connects with Aaron and shows he is just a friendly neighborhood guy trying to keep people safe, which causes Aaron to reveal the information of his own will. Just shows the strengths of Peter's relatively down to earth role.

* When the Vulture's weapon blasts the ferry in half and Peter struggles to hold it together, [[spoiler: Tony does one ''hell'' of an entrance in the nick of time. Peter is using dozens of weblines and failing, then on-cue several repulsor boosters fly into the screen and stabilize the ship. The scene then shifts to a window, where Iron Man is in a brand-new armor, reminiscent of the one from the Ultimate comics, thus providing a double MythologyGag as the scene reminds comic fans of the time when he pushed away a Chitauri ship.]]
** This needs to be elaborated upon to show just how awesome it is. [[spoiler: Peter spends one hell of a time trying to tie his web to every hard support of the ferry in an attempt to hold it together. It seems to have worked, but it left Peter exhausted. Then Karen informed him that he missed ''one'' support of the ferry, and it leads to his webs breaking apart and causing the ferry to sink again. Peter then desperately tries to hold the whole thing together by himself a-la Tobey-Spidey holding the runaway train in ''Spider-Man 2''. Suddenly, Iron Man himself and his boosters come out of nowhere and put the ship back together and weld the damaged parts, all done effortlessly in less than a minute. It shows how much difference there is between a veteran superhero like Iron Man and a newbie still learning the ropes like Spidey in dealing with dangerous situations. And Iron Man held the ship together at first before without the extra rocket boosters at first.]]

* Just the fact that Sony agreed to work with Marvel Studios and brought Peter into a SharedUniverse.
* The long-overdue introduction of [[http://metrouk2.files.wordpress.com/2016/12/spider-man-comic.jpg Spidey's web-wings]] to film.
* The Vulture's new design. Usually depicted in the comics as an old man in a silly wing suit looking to regain his youth, this version of him is militaristic, with a bomber jacket and a full helmet. He has talons on his feet and looks genuinely inhuman. To top all that off, he's portrayed by Creator/MichaelKeaton, a guy who knows how to do an intense performance.
** The wings in particular deserve a mention for being ''freakin' gigantic'' -- big enough that you'll believe they can make a human fly, providing both suspension of disbelief and pure awe in a single stroke. And as a bonus they also have VTOL rotors allowing him to ''hover'', which is something that even ComicBook/TheFalcon can't do.
** All of this serves to follow the lead of ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol2'' in leaving behind the notoriously dull villains of past MCU films, with the reviews calling Vulture a highly engaging and even sometimes sympathetic character in his own right.
** The choice of Vulture and Shocker as the villains of the film in the first place can be seen as both an awesome moment and a TakeThat to Sony. Marvel finally got to use their most famous super hero in the MCU, yet instead of using one of his more famous foes they took two of the least known villains and made one of the best Spider-Man movies yet.
* On May 19th, composer Creator/MichaelGiacchino posted a video of the orchestra recording a snippet of his score for the film, and it might top Music/DannyElfman's work. Why? [[spoiler: Because it's the classic ''WesternAnimation/SpiderMan1967'' theme song turned into an awesome orchestral piece!]]
** It has to be [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukWFlBTWWtk heard to be believed]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeX8TkHN6mE Now with an electric guitar!]]
** Composer Ben Squires' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2rgrqEFVKc "extended" take on it]] is no slouch, either, stretching it out to the length of an entire dramatic suite.
*** In fact, this track got so much attention that Marvel [[PromotedFanboy contacted him to compose the trailer music]] for ''Film/SpiderManFarFromHome''!
* Early social media reviews indicate that the film is the best Spider-Man movie since Creator/SamRaimi's ''Film/SpiderMan2'', which was considered one of the best comic book movies of ''all time'', and many are calling it their favorite superhero/comic book movie. To Spidey and MCU fans, this is a SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome in and of ''itself''.
** On Website/RottenTomatoes, it has a rating of 92%, the highest for a Spider-Man film since ''Spider-Man 2''.
* Tom Holland and Kevin Feige have confirmed Peter was the kid at the Stark Expo in ''Film/IronMan2''. Not only has Peter been in the MCU the entire time, he's been one of the biggest [[EnsembleDarkhorse Ensemble Darkhorses]] ''ever'', and he has ''always'' had his HeroicSpirit.
* For the first time in any of the movies, [[spoiler:Aunt May finds out Peter's secret. No assumed SecretSecretKeeper like in [[Film/SpiderManTrilogy the Raimi movies]] or the Amazing movies.]]
* '''Tom Holland's performance.''' Even though he had already been declared "best Spidey ever" as far back as his ''Civil War'' cameo, this is his first time taking the lead as Spider-Man with many critics considering his performance one of the best things about it, if not the best, and it's not for nothing: he plays Peter Parker with the warmth and realism of an actual teenager, and even shows a huge acting range, with his portrayal being compared to the beloved ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan'' series.
** The flips and stunts that Spidey does? Most likely not a double despite the mask. Tom trained in ballet for ''Theatre/BillyElliot'', practices gymnastics, and does parkour in his free time. That HeroicBuild? [[https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/8a/4e/59/8a4e596a2917284942ccb0ccf4ecd00b--tom-holland-shirtless-spiderman-spiderman-tom-holland.jpg All natural]].
* The film's opening weekend box office was the second-highest in Sony history behind ''Film/SpiderMan3'', and the third-highest of 2017 to date behind ''Film/BeautyAndTheBeast2017'' and ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol2''.
* Despite suffering the worst Friday-to-Friday drop for an MCU film during its second and third week in theaters, ''Homecoming'' still defied odds and now rests at '''$880 million''' and counting, beating ''Film/WonderWoman'' and ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol2'' to become 2017's highest grossing comic book movie worldwide. It is the second highest grossing Spider-Man film worldwide, behind ''Film/SpiderMan3''.
* A minor one, but Creator/MichaelMando as Mac Gargan, or as he's known in the comics, the Scorpion. There's something so cool about the idea of [[VideoGame/FarCry3 Vaas himself]] facing off against the webslinger.
** On top of that, this film managed to do what the comics failed to do: ''make Gargan an actual threat''. He technically is still one but is treated as a complete joke even when he got the Venom symbiote. Here? It's clear from the get-go Spidey has just made an ''extremely'' dangerous enemy.
* After Tobey Maguire, [[http://comicbook.com/marvel/2016/10/24/andrew-garfield-gives-tom-holland-his-blessing-as-new-spider-man/ Andrew Garfield gives Tom Holland his blessings as well]]. Crosses over into Heartwarming.
* It's no secret that Peter Parker has had numerous love interests in the comics, and while Liz Allan is the in-focus love interest, the out-of-left field reveal of Michelle [[spoiler:being known by her friends as MJ]] threw everyone for a loop. Props must be given to Zendaya's entirely low-key performance with nary a clue dropped until the last two minutes of the movie.

** As sad as Tony scolding Peter is, and while he's not the best at being a mentor, it's also a sign of Tony's CharacterDevelopment across his previous MCU films.
