Unlike in prior movies where he tried to [[PinocchioSyndrome pass himself off as a real boy or openly desired to be one]], he casually corrects Rumpelstiltskin that he's not a real boy, [[IAmWhatIAm appearing comfortable with his puppet body by then]]. And when he [[DealWithTheDevil asks if Pinocchio wants to be one]], the living puppet [[LiteralAssKicking kicks him]] [[DestinationDefenestration out of the bookstore]] with some choice words before slamming the door:

Not only did he know (or at least know of) the secret to revealing the CurseEscapeClause on the contract, but back when they first met he was the only one who A) knew where Lord Farquaad lived and B) was willing to show Shrek the way since [[HeroWithBadPublicity all the other fairy tale creatures were scared of him at that time]].
