* The melee at the tourney deserves mention. When Oberyn decides to fight in hopes of killing Amory Lorch, Ned, Robert, Renly (who according to the narration had never entered a melee in his life) and a couple others all join to protect both him and Lyarra (if one soulmates dies than the other may die as well, especially if the bond is new). By the end of it, Ned is among one of the few left standing. Then there's Robert's speech afterwards.
