* SpoilerOpening: The OP spoils the fact that one of the arcs involves ''Alice in Nerima Land'', since its cast of characters can be seen racing through a graveyard.

* HiddenDepths: Nadeshiko generally acts as the calm and demure TeamMom. As episode 7 reveals, she can be a pretty aggressive GamerChick, to the point of getting frustrated if she sees others playing badly.

* Foreshadowing: In episode 7, when the zombie queen and her army are transporting Shizuru to another location, Shizuru complains about her hogtied to a pole runs the risk of a PantyShot, which causes the zombies to stiffen and the queen to acquiesces to untying her on the condition she doesn't run. As revealed later, the zombies are weak to [[spoiler: [[WeaksauceWeakness overstimulation]], meaning that things like dirty jokes or any lewd content can causes them to stiffen and even explode.]]

* TeamMom: Nadeshiko generally acts as the most mature of the girls, often putting herself between any fights, scolding the others when they do something rude or insensitive, and trying to explain the girls' differing perspectives to one another to prevent a falling out and encourage them to TurnTheOtherCheek.

* IChoseToStay: At the end of Episode 7, after making peace, the girls invite the zombie queen [[spoiler:who is actually a human in disguise]] to join them in traveling to Ikebukuro. Though she's happy with the offer, she turns them down, saying she needs to look after the undead. The others promise to visit her again on their return trip.

* AttractiveZombie: The zombie queen is a cute girl only identifiable as undead due to her blue skin.

* OurZombiesAreDifferent: Migratory zombies follow the typical trends of zombies but are extremely sensitive to local weather conditions. They are constantly migrating to find areas where they won't rot, freeze, dry up, or otherwise decay into immobility. While most of the horde is seemingly unintelligent, they are led by a queen who is smart enough to plot their route.

* CondescendingCompassion: The crux of Shizuru and Yōka's falling out, which is {{Implied}} to have prompted the latter to go to Ikebukuro. Yōka confided in Shizuru her interest in astrology and her dream of being able to make equipment for space exploration, which she hasn't told anyone else. Shizuru, while amazed, tries to convince her that such a dream might be unrealistic, believing such ambitions should be pursued by "exceptional" people, which she believes they aren't due their countryside origins. However, the way she phrases it ends up sounding ''very'' insulting, and she responded negatively when Yōka started acting coldly in response, causing her to run off in tears.

** Shizuru and Yōka are another variant. Shizuru is energetic and constantly talking in an excited voice while Yōka is timid and rarely speaks up unless prompted. Shizuru is slender with a rough tomboyish haircut while Yōka has a more feminine figure and haircut. Shizuru can be very harsh and dismissive of other people's feelings while Yōka is more empathetic and fears rejection. This ultimately causes their fight when Yōka admits her dream of pursuing astrology only for Shizuru to crudely dismiss it as hopeless.

* RedOniBlueOni: Reimi and Akira share this relationship. In terms of personality, Reimi is energetic and optimistic if slightly dim while Akira is intelligent but sullen and pessimistic. In terms of appearance, Reimi is very tall and well-endowed, has blond hair, and wears a standard bright blue uniform with red accessories. Akira by contrast is very short and slender, has black hair, and wears a nearly black uniform with blue accessories. The two have squabbled with each other since childhood due to their clashing personalities.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Shizuru prepares for her trip to Ikebukuro by learning how to drive the train, but the only supplies she gathers are some junk food and a single bitter melon planter. It's only after they've left town that the other girls point out she doesn't have nearly enough food and also didn't bring any other supplies like bedding or extra clothes. That, and she wasn't planning on bringing three other people with her. As for Reimi, Akira, and Nadeshiko, they quickly chased after Shizuru after her sudden announcement of leaving, and jumped aboard the train in a snap decision, only realizing their own lack of preparation long after they left their town.

* AllCrimesAreEqual: The Boss of Iruma punishes all crimes by incinerating the culprit until nothing remains but a skeleton. These crimes include being from outside Iruma and failing to pick up all the litter in your assigned area.

* TheNapoleon: The Boss of Iruma is an ill-tempered man who's slightly shorter than high school girls. He decided to use his normal height compared to the miniaturized people of Iruma to seize control and rule as a tyrant while fulfilling his dreams of controlling a military base.

* RedOniBlueOni: Reimi and Akira share this relationship. In terms of personality, Reimi is energetic and optimistic if slightly dim while Akira is intelligent but sullen and pessimistic. * UnstoppableRage: After the military broke the bracelet Akira gave to her, Reimi completely goes postal and decimates the lot of them.

* {{Lobotomy}}: Pontaro subjected Zenjirō to a procedure which left a large scar on his forehead and reduced Zenjirō from an intelligent young man to a senile old man.

* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Zenjirō has become this to the people of Agano, especially the girls who think he is an old coot. It doesn't help that Zenjirō is almost completely unhelpful to them whenever they face a crisis.
