* CrucifiedHeroShot: After Shou voluntarily turns himself over to the Godom Empire soldiers, Emperor Tathagata Killer has him crucified into a gigantic cross in a crowded stadium with people shouting for his death in an execution by firing squad televised to all citizens of Earth [[MakeAnExampleOfThem to make him serve as an example of what they do to defectors]]. One soldier even gloats to Shou's coworkers they will be next after the Emperor is done with him.

* DespairEventHorizon: Tathagata Killer causes a mass-induced one by televising a captured Shou's crucifixion and subsequent execution by firing squad to crush the people's hopes and make them submit to the Godom Empire once and for all.

* EasyEvangelism: Leika-Chan/[[spoiler:Princess Theta]] switches to Shou's side after realizing he's the Savior and Tathagata's willingness to risk [[spoiler:destroying Earth]] just to conquer it. [[spoiler:In the end, Shou becomes hailed by all people of Earth as the Savior after he defeats the demon possessing Tathagata and gives a speech about how humans should be united as people of Earth.]]

* DayOfTheJackboot: The Godom Empire's footsoldiers successfully set foot in Inasa Beach and proceed to detain every Japanese civilian they could find. Five months after successfully invading Tsushima, Kitakyūshū, Niigata, and Okinawa, the Imperial government renames Japan as the "Far-East Autonomous Territory" and Tokyo as the "First Controlled Special Economic Zone." Later on, after [[spoiler:Shou turned himself over to the Godom soldiers after failing to destroy the Ultimate Destruction Weapon]], the Empire successfully took over India and Western Europe.

* DayOfTheJackboot: After the Godom Empire successfully invades Japan despite Shou's best efforts to save people from the invasion, the movie displays shots of Japanese cities and dependencies taken over by the Empire: Tsushima is razed, Kitakyūshū is approached by Godom warships deploying vehicles, while both Niigata and Okinawa have their respective Prefecture Government Buildings adorned with Godom banners and flags.

* SecretPolice: Implied. Five months after the Godom Empire successfully took over Japan and renamed it the "Far-East Autonomous Territory," with Tokyo as the "First Controlled Special Economic Zone," two salarymen lament the fact they can no longer call themselves Japanese. Suddenly, two other men in civilian attire stop to handcuff the former two and take them away as the newscaster announces that the Empire passed a temporary bill that prohibits the use of Japanese language for three years.

* DarkIsEvil: Demons in this movie are beings of darkness and are monstrously evil beings who cause turmoil by possessing humans into giving into their worst desires and in some cases, seek for [[spoiler:the destruction of Earth]].

* AncientConspiracy: When Konohana-no-Sakuya-bime explains to Shou the existence of Hell as the world ruled by devils, she reveals that they also emerge on Earth to control and drag as many people to Hell as possible. Their means range from inflaming people's desires and corrupting them, invoking hatred amongst all people (thereby being behind every war and conflict in human history), or making humans believe that there's nothing beyond their physical bodies and Earth, denying the existence of the Spirit World and driving people away from faith (therefore being behind every atheist philosopher as well).

* TheDragon: Leika Chan, Tathagata's right-hand woman and the one who provides the advanced technology he needs to fulfill his conquest.

''The Mystical Laws'' (神秘の法, ''Shinpi no Hou'' in Japanese) is a 2012 anime movie directed by Isamu Imakake and distributed by the Nikkatsu Corporation. It is the sixth of nine anime movies produced by the Japanese spiritual movement Happy Science, whose plots are essentially what happens when anime and religious films collide.

* {{Warhawk}}: A politician disrupts a Diet meeting at the Emergency Government Headquarters in Japan calling for war against the Godom Empire. The man then yells that the Empire has been increasing its military capacity for over twenty years, [[WeHaveBecomeComplacent recriminating the Diet for their complacency]] and demanding they take responsibility for their decision not to fight back.

* BigDamnHeroes: After [[spoiler:Shou defeats the demon possessing Tathagata]], Utika and his forces stop the Reptilians on their tracks by reminding them of the Galactic Treaty they tried to use as an excuse to eat humans.

* TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt: [[spoiler:This is the Ultimate Destruction Weapon's true purpose as per Demon Tathagata's wishes. The Earth's consciousness also causes this whenever the human race stops believing in God or the Spirits.]]

* GaiasVengeance: [[spoiler:As Shou meditates and prays, Rient Arle Croud tells him that every planet, including Earth, is a living being. He also explains that moment humans disdain the Earth as a place for soul training, its consciousness will clean it up via natural disasters, like what happened to both Atlantis and Mu.]]

* {{Orochi}}: In this movie, Yamata-no-Orochi is ''one of the good guys'' as Konohana-no-Sakuya-bime summons it to devour the Godom fleets on their way to Japan, and then does it again to [[spoiler:protect Shou and Princess Theta from Tathagata Killer's demonic dragon]].

* PlotIrrelevantVillain: The reptilian aliens who show up to try and invade Earth while [[spoiler:Tathagata is destroying it.]] They appear in only two scenes and have absolutely no bearing on the main plot of the movie.

* YouCantFightFate: While Shou's visions allowed him to save the General from the Godoms in the car chase scene, he couldn't [[spoiler:prevent the General from getting shot to death like in his vision]]. When he got visions of the Godom Empire invading Japan and ending in a soldier shooting him while meditating in Izumo, he tried to warn the people of the soon-to-be-razed town, but no one listened to him and the Empire successfully took over the country. His later attempt to disrupt the Ultimate Destruction Weapon [[spoiler:failed and he was executed by firing squad just like in his visions. However, Shou was also fated to be the Savior as Rient Arle Croud and his other incarnations revived him by Theta's request, giving him the power to face Tathagata Killer after a Hermes' wings agent gave him the [[ArtifactOfHope Symbol of the Savior]] before being shot by a Godom policeman.]]

* WouldHurtAChild: After a Japanese family's house is raided by Godom investigators and found with a copy of ''The Teachings of Buddha'', the father attempts to justify they forgot about it. However, the detective has none of it and reminds the poor sod that all religions are prohibited in the Empire and therefore the offenders ''and'' their families should die. He begs them to at least spare his daughter to no avail, implying they will kill her as well.

* PsychicStrangle: Tathagata Killer holds Leika Chan by the neck in this way when she points out something is wrong with him. However, she emits a light wave from her bracelet to distract him and escape.

It is based on a book of the same name written by the movement's late founder/president Ryuho Okawa, who also contributed to the script before his passing.

* ApocalypseHow: Class 6. Tathagata used his intellect and skills in science to create the "Ultimate Destruction Weapon," which creates a fireball 400,000 times as hot as the sun's core and throws it behind enemy lines. Leika Chan tried to object by explaining such a weapon could severely affect the Earth's core, extinguishing all life on Earth. However, Tathagata jokingly asks her if she's speaking from experience. [[spoiler:As it turns out later on, [[HumanAlien she is]]]].
* ArtifactOfHope: The General tells Shou he should find the Symbol of the Savior, a sacred artifact that can put a stop to the Godom Empire's advances for good. However, he also explains that there's not much information about it save for the fact it's located in Lake Titicaca. [[spoiler:Later on at the climax of the story, a Hermes' Wings member carries the artifact and throws it towards Shou after being shot by the police.]]

* CaptainErsatz: China is never actually referred to by name in the movie and is instead only mentioned as the "Republic of East Asia".

* SinisterSurveillance: When one man at his laptop comments that there are so "many words we can't search" after the Godom takeover of Japan, another man next to him shushes him and whispers that there's a bug before cutting to a security camera turning to the men.

[[spoiler:He summons it again to destroy both Shou and Princess Theta after his demon armies were defeated by the spirits sent to protect them, but it's again defeated by Yamata-no-Orochi]].
