* DarkerAndEdgier: Definitely so when compared to the extremely light-weight [[Anime/JewelpetHappiness preceding season]]. There's plenty of angst to go around, characters with mysterious and dark pasts (namely Lillian and Luea, and not just them), and it has the most violence in the history of ''Jewelpet'' (among other things, Romeo stabs himself with a sword, Elena gets an arrow to the stomach, [[spoiler:Lillian and Rector]] die by magic, etc).
