* TheCretaceousIsAlwaysDoomed: [[spoiler: The climax has a giant meteor hitting the Earth in the Yucatan Peninsula, triggering the K-Pg Extinction Event, and the gang must do their best to save the already-existing dinosaur population on the Breeding Diorama Set at all costs]].

''Doraemon: Nobita's New Dinosaur'' is a 2020 anime film, the 40[[superscript:th]] cinematic film of the ''Anime/{{Doraemon}}'' franchise and a loose remake of ''Anime/DoraemonNobitasDinosaur''.

* TerrorDactyl: A gigantic pterosaur acts as the main threat of the movie. Unlike most examples, it is more based on real-life pterosaurs, [[ShownTheirWork being covered in pycnofibres, walking on all fours, taking off by vaulting, hunting on the ground like azhdarchids, and grabbing with its jaws instead of its feet]].

* TerrorDactyl: A gigantic pterosaur acts as the main threat of the movie. Unlike most examples, it is more based on real-life pterosaurs, [[ShownTheirWork being covered in pycnofibres, walking on all fours, taking off by vaulting, hunting on the ground, and grabbing with its jaws instead of its feet]].

* IdenticalGrandson: Implied, although not outright stated: [[spoiler:during the end credits, two birds are shown flying above the gang sans Doraemon, bearing identical colors and markings as Kyu and Myu, likely their descendants. Although this could be a symbolization that birds are dinosaurs]].

* PerilousPrehistoricSeas: When Nobita and Kyu fall into the Cretaceous sea while fleeing from the monstrous pterosaur, they are approached by a pod of ''Futabasaurus''. However, the plesiosaurs mean no harm and one of them, [[spoiler:who happens to be Piisuke]], gives the unconscious pair a ride to dry land. Afterwards, we are treated to a scene where a ''Mosasaurus'' makes a snack out of a sea turtle, which a terrified Suneo witnesses while he and Gian are taken prisoner on Jill's ichthyosaur-shaped submarine.

* PerilousPrehistoricSeas: When Nobita and Kyu fall into the Cretaceous sea, they are approached by a pod of ''Futabasaurus'' which turn out to mean no harm. One of them, [[spoiler:who happens to be Piisuke]], gives the unconscious pair a ride to dry land. Afterwards, we are treated to a scene where a ''Mosasaurus'' makes a snack out of a sea turtle, which a terrified Suneo witnesses while he and Gian are taken prisoner on Jill's ichthyosaur-shaped submarine.

** Nobita making a bet that "he'd eat peanuts if he lose" is actually recycled from one of the manga stories, "Wolf's Den".

* RealEventFictionalCause: [[spoiler:Kyu turns out to be the common ancestor to modern birds, learning to flap his wings and fly in order to save Nobita's life.]]

** Happens with a herd of ''Tuojiangosaurus'' (and the gang) when a ''Yangchuanosaurus'' arrives on the hunt. And it has a partner to boot.

** [[spoiler:The beginning of the K-Pg Extinction Event causes a multitude of various dinosaurs to stampede, as Gian and Suneo (riding on Cole and Top respectively) lead them to the MassTeleportation circle drawn by Shizuka with the Time Displacement Crayon.

* ForebodingFleeingFlock As the gang is flying through a canyon, they notice a large flock of ''Pteranodon'' heading straight for them, setting up for an AerialCanyonChase. But then Doraemon notices that the ''Pteranodon'' are not flying after them but ''past'' them, revealing that the pterosaurs themselves are fleeing from something. Sure enough there is a storm looming above, [[spoiler:as is the shadowy outline of a massive pterosaur in the clouds]].

* MassOhCrap:
** Happens with a herd of ''Tuojiangosaurus'' (and the gang) when a ''Yangchuanosaurus'' arrives on the hunt. And it has a partner to boot.
** The gang has this reaction as they are flying through a canyon and notice a large flock of ''Pteranodon'' heading straight for them. But then Doraemon notices that the ''Pteranodon'' are not flying after them but ''past'' them, revealing that the pterosaurs themselves are having this reaction. Sure enough there is a storm looming above, [[spoiler:as is the shadowy outline of a massive pterosaur in the clouds]].

** Gian and Suneo showing everyone that [[spoiler:Nobisaurus is, in fact, the Breeding Diorama Set that Nobita lost during the Jurassic Period]].

** Early on when Doraemon runs through the Complete Encyclopedia of Space to check what species the newly-hatched Kyu and Myu belonged to, one of the holograms shown is Piisuke from ''Anime/DoraemonNobitasDinosaur''. [[spoiler: And then Piisuke appears personally to rescue Nobita and Kyu from drowning in the Cretaceous Sea]].

* ContinuitySnarl: When Nobita made a claim that he'd retrieve a new dinosaur to his friends, Gian and Suneo then laughs at him, with Suneo saying dinosaurs couldn't possibly exist at the present after their extinction 66 million years ago. However, [[spoiler:Piisuke's appearance reveals that the events of ''Nobita's Dinosaur'' did happen in the past and that this movie is actually a StealthSequel. Gian and Suneo ''did'' partake in the adventure of that earlier movie, as such their disbelief to Nobita's claims seems to contradict with previous events]]. The continuity between those movies are, to be honest, [[LooseCanon ridiculously loose]]. However, it should be noted that [[spoiler:''Nobita's Dinosaur'' is actually an extended adaptation of the manga chapter of the same name, which ended with Nobita and Doraemon returning Piisuke to Cretaceous Japan; most likely, this movie could instead be a sequel to the original chapter rather than its movie adaptation]].

** The fact that [[spoiler: this is a direct sequel to a previous Doraemon film, given Piisuke's presence,]] another first.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: The major dilemma from the previous film, ''Anime/DoraemonNobitasDinosaur'', ends when Piisuke found a herd of wild ''Futubasaurus'' and is instantly accepted into his own kind. It doesn't happen here, while the gang managed to locate one of the last flocks of ''Nobisaurus'' in the Cretaceous Period, the flock outright rejects Kyu due to his inability of gliding, with the film spending a huge chunk of time having Kyu learning to get airborne [[spoiler:eventually succeeding right at the final act]].

This time however, Nobita is the owner of '''[[SequelEscalation two]]''' baby dinosaurs, a pair of twins hatched from the same egg belonging to an unknown feathered species that not even Doraemon's Complete Encyclopedia of Space have records of. Realizing he have discovered an entirely new dinosaur species, Nobita names them Kyu and Myu, intending to raise them into adulthood before showing them to his friends, but just like before, problems of raising a living dinosaur in modern-day Japan arises. Ultimately Nobita and gang decide to travel back to the Cretaceous Period to locate the ancestors of Kyu and Myu, but they're being followed by sinister entities who wants Kyu and Myu for reasons unknown.
