** Those parents themselves have been subject to interpretations -- some viewers believe they were straight-up AbusiveParents, while others believe they were relatively normal, with the odd exception of raising their son without toys. It could have also been that once Egon straightened his slinky, they realised he wasn't interested in toys, and so didn't believe he needed them.

** Most of the Wicked Witch's attacks are toward the Scarecrow? Is it because (being made of straw and because the Tin Man is armed and made of metal, while the lion has sharp teeth) he's the easiest target, because he's Dorothy's first and therefore best friend, or because he's the mouthiest towards her?

*** Is it evil, or amoral?

*** Is he just spineless, or is he just selfish and amoral?
*** Does he truly love Audrey, or does he see her as something to possess?
** Why was Mushnik taking advantage of Seymour once he became famous and blackmailing him about Orin's death, despite previously being kind enough to take him in? Was it just greed, or was Audrey II manipulating him?
** Are the GreekChorus just observers, or do they have an ulterior motive?
** Provided what Orin said about his mother encouraging him to become a dentist precisely because he was evil was true, does she believe all dentists are evil, or did she want him to have an outlet for his evil desires that probably wouldn't lead to him becoming a SerialKiller?
** Why did Audrey cry upon seeing Seymour in a leather jacket? It was probably because it reminded her of Orin, but was it because she felt guilty about wanting him gone, or was it a TraumaButton since Orin was abusive?

*** Some people with AS are particularly under - or over -sensitive to specific sensory input, which might be another reason why Elwood likes to wear sunglasses (he is more sensitive than others to sunlight). Taste hypersensitivity can manifest itself as a marked preference for relatively tasteless food - which would explain the character's predilection for dry white toast.

* Film/Labyrinth has a couple regarding Sara and her stepmother: the more common interpretation is that Sara treats her mother like a WickedStepmother unfairly, her feelings rooted in childish jealousy, and over the course of the story, she grows up and puts her childishness behind her. The other one is that she really is a passive-aggressive WickedStepmother, and the lesson Sara really learns is "It's not fair, but that's the way it is, so you better learn to deal with it". ** The context of Ezekiel's visions is left unexplained, and instead all that is shown is that an older Sims returns home to find his spider stolen before he is attacked by three costumed figures who let him fall to his death. Cassie suggests in the final fight that it was a case of being MetaphoricallyTrue and the events of the visions weren't actually how he was going to die, but it's never confirmed to be this and if it was a potential future then Julia, Mattie and Anya come across as more morally ambiguous characters in those visions instead of superheroes.
** Ezekiel Sims is not a good man by any standard, having shot a pregnant woman and left her to die to gain his powers. However he then spent every night of the the next 30 years having visions of the three women destined to kill him, the context of which are never fully explained. As a result it's unclear whether in these visions Sims did anything wrong to deserve his fate or even if Julia, Mattie and Anya are heroes in that potential future, and while it doesn't excuse his actions it might be easy to see him as a desperate man who has spent three decades living in fear and is willing to do anything to change his future.

** When did "Gordon" realise he was actually Uncle Fester? Was it at the end of the movie when his amnesia was fully cured, in the middle of the movie when he realises the house looks familiar, or even at the beginning of the movie during the seance (meaning he was initially struggling to accept the truth)?
** Did Craven know that "Gordon" was really Fester, and if so, was she using him as a pawn to steal the Addamses' money?
** When Pubert switched some wires to electrocute Debbie, the main villain, to death, did he do so on purpose to protect his family (since the Addamses are said to have very strong protective instincts towards their relatives)? Or, since he is a baby, was it a case of AccidentalMurder and he had no clue she would die? His giggling afterwards could support either interpretation.

* Film/Elf:
** Did Miles Finch beat up Buddy when the latter mistook him for an elf because he's just a Jerkass, or was it because he'd been discriminated against before for his short height? He was a Hypocrite (writing a story about a farm despite calling farm stories unoriginal) but that doesn't exclude the possibility of discrimination being the reason he got angry at Buddy.
** Is Buddy a Manchild simply because he acts like an elf, and elves act more like kids from a human perspective? Or is it because the elves treat him like a kid due to 30 being the equivalent of 15 in elf years? Or, on a darker note, is he brain-damaged from eating mostly sugar and only sleeping forty minutes per night? On the flip side, is his diet of mostly sugar and lack of sleep actually not so bad for him because magic from ChristmasTown rubbed off on him? His making 85 etch-a-sketches in one day could just be him being good at making them from lots of practice, but it might also be evidence of magic rubbing off on him.

** Dave Jennings: CoolTeacher and a liberating figure much needed in a stuffy environment, or a bad, toxic influence without boundaries? Maybe it's a combo of the two with a deconstruction.
** Given the constant, nightmarish and unchecked havoc routinely caused by Delta House, the villain status of Dean Wormer can come off as questionable, at least until he goes out of his way to make sure the Deltas are drafted after they have already been expelled. On the other hand, there is the point of view that an authority figure who tries to enforce the rules should abide by them, be above reproach and shouldn't abuse his power in the first place, no matter the cause. It should be noted that more than one source states Wormer was modeled after UsefulNotes/RichardNixon.
*** Wormer's draft-office notification adds another layer of contention. When the movie was made and released, the audience immediately connected the draft with UsefulNotes/TheVietnamWar, thus making it a UriahGambit. During the time the movie is actually set, though, Vietnam had not yet become a hot, deadly theatre for draftees. Still a, dare we say it, Nixonian move, though.

* Film/ANightmareOnElmStreetPart2FreddysRevenge:
** It's not hard to argue that the entire sequence leading up to Schneider's death was a shared dream created by Freddy, possibly with some sleep-walking involved to get the participants to the gym showers at the end. The entire sequence does play out like a sexual fantasy between two closeted gay men: the younger goes to a gay bar, where his coach is waiting to "punish" him for underaged drinking. This interpretation changes Schneider from a predator to a gay man who sometimes fantasizes about younger men. It also makes his death far more horrifying, as you realize that he likely believed he was being punished for his sexual desires.
** Is Jessie gay? Or is he someone with deep rooted psycho-sexual issues as a result of his tumultuous relationship with his father? His running away from making out with Lisa could alternately be interpreted as him being afraid of intimacy due to associating sex with violence.

** Mary herself:
*** Is she truly supernatural, or is she getting herself and her charges drunk or high on the "cough medicine", which is actually laced with opium and/or actual rum?
*** Is she actually a NiceGirl, or is she a narcissist due to being dismissive of those who don't compliment her?
*** When she tricked Mr. Banks into taking his kids to the bank, did she do so knowing that the bankers would try to take Michael's money, he'd refuse, the citizens would see this and cause a run, Mr. Banks would be fired, and he'd learn the value of family? Or did she just want him to take them on an excursion and thought the bank would be the easiest place to convince him to take them? If the former, teaching the kids about feeding the birds was probably part of this plan, but if the latter, it was probably a lesson on empathy.

** When Mrs. Banks turns her "Votes for Women" sash into a tail for her kite, is she giving up on the suffragette movement to spend more time with her family (which was suggested by Richard Sherman in the DVD commentary), or conversely, was she doing this as part of the movement, putting the sash in the sky so everyone could see it, while at the same time bonding with her family?

Was it to ensure she didn't try to run away again once she returned to Kansas, because she didn't want Dorothy to come home before the Wicked Witch died lest she try to steal the shoes, because the shoes didn't work that way (whether because they needed the wearer to want to go home, they needed belief to work, or because they just didn't work right away with new wearers), or was it AllJustADream and thus moot because dreams don't always make sense?
