MCE: original YKTTW entry here. —-

Unless anyone has any relevant objections I'm going to launch this, if it whithers and dies it's my own fault, but I will try anyway

Cousin to Neck Lift, this where a character is lifted up by the monster, oddly going silent and still in the process. Often they will be dropped moments later very dead and often disembowelled. This often happens to the last person in a group while the main characters aren't paying attention.

It seem every monster worth its salt has Super-Strength and a knowledge of pressure points.

Examples include

  • day of the dead (guy lifted by zombie in air vent)
  • Half life (scientists pulled though celling and air vents)
  • the invisible man remake
  • Anyone pulled up by a half-life tentacle while their partner looks the other way
  • At least one film with xenomorphs in

Also included is being pulled though narrow openings unexpectedly.

Possible other titles include 'hand from above' and 'Head lift'

reply: Happens in the third Alien movie, whilst said character is denying that there are any aliens.

reply: In Something Positive, Pee Jee's Jerkass HR manager gets eaten by the Trapdoor Gator, who emerges from behind a ceiling tile.

reply: FEAR has a least one of these, as does DOOM 3

reply: One at least partially explanation for the enemies going limp when attacked by a barnacle in half-life was that they secreted some kind of paralysing venom.

Also you can tell how cheap a film is when the character has been suddenly replaced by a dummy.

reply: I'd like to launch this troop but I'm loathed to do it with so few examples. Maybe more will come later, maybe it's just not to be (sigh)

reply: Amendment to main description

reply: Film

  • Also happens in the second Alien movie. When the Colonial Marines are attacked by the aliens under the atmosphere processing plant, one of the aliens grabs a Marine by the neck and lifts them up (and then kills them).

reply: End of markup

Egregious Eric: Can we use this Garfield Minus Garfield for a picture?

MCE it would be better to have something from one of the examples but It'll do for a stand in.

MCE please ask before removing the folders, personally i prefer them and they are a good way of future proofing an article
