From YKTTW

Looney Toons: Cited on Other Stock Phrases under "Anyone get...". Just as a point of reference.

Khym Chanur: I thought that "Anyone get the license of that truck" wasn't quite a non-sequitur, since the victim is implying that he just got hit by a truck, and that the driver should be tracked down for insurance/lawsuit/arrest/etc.

Big T: But it only makes sense if the person could have reasonably been hit by said truck. Otherwise, it implies that they are out of touch (non sequitur) with reality.

MRL: Not so; the phrase is being used metaphorically. This is particularly clear when a perfectly lucid character wryly utters the phrase after getting clobbered, as happens in many action stories.

Big T: Ah, okay! At least I did say "implies". I guess that moves the problem to whether the person could be considered completely lucid. The lumper in me wants to say, "Well, since it doesn't really fit in with any other trope, why not just stick 'em all here? Just specify might've been using a metaphor. Problem solved."

What was the non-sequitur in Firefly, anyway?

Big T: Do you think the way Bender acts when he is subject to a magnet would count as a variation?

(later) No objections? Adding it, then... Done. If there's a better trope, move it.

Stm177: Isn't this stuff a little too chatty?
  1. There wasn't a hit on the head, but this troper's brother woke up, looked right at me, and asked me to fetch the blue condoms. Then he went right back to sleep. He was fourteen, and neither of us owned any condoms at the time.
  2. This troper recalls a time when he went to wake up a friend who was late for work. He simple rolled over and muttered "Don't worry, the people will take care of it."

Fast Eddie: Removed an opening quote that doesn't make any sense until after you read the article... Please see Administrative Policy.
"And that's where we buried Jimmy Hoffa!"
—Tako the Octopus, Deep Fried Live

tinlv7: Uhh... Most of the troper tales involve sleep, not concussion. Maybe there should be a new article for "Non Sequitar Snore"s?

The Pocket: Seconding this! This Achewood strip is a good place to start.
